    Hello there, I have a tuple of tuples from MySQL query like this: T1 = (('13', '17', '18', '21', '32'), ('07', '11', '13', '14', '28'), ('01', '05', '06', '08', '15', '16')) I'd like to convert all the string elements into integers and put it back nicely to list of lists this time: T2 = [[13, 17, 18, 21, 32], [7, 11, 13, 14, 28], [1, 5, 6, 8, 15, 16]] I tried to achieve it with "eval" but didn't get any decent result yet.

    I have got a WCF Data Service based on a LINQ to SQL data provider. I am making a query "get me all the records between two dates". The problem is that I want to synthesize two extra records such that I always get records that fall on the start and end dates, plus all the ones in between which come from the database. Is there a way to "intercept" the request so I can synthesize these records and return them to the client? Thanks

  • in x64 Windows is there a way to run a Runtime.exec() process avoiding 'Registry redirection'

    Our app runs in jvm 32 bit, even when in windows x64. Now, at some point, I need to access some registry values, for example HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/mycomp. I do this by executing cmd /C reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\mycop from Runtime.exec() and parsing the output. This works fine when running on windows 32b, the problem is when on x64, I cannot find the key, as the shell I run is a 32 bit process, and due to Registry Redirection I would get the key if it was on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/wow6432Node/mycop Any idea?

    Would it be wise to use ROWLOCK on an insert statement that is copying large amounts of data and inserting it into the same table? Ex) INSERT INTO TABLE with (rowlock) (id, name) select newid, name) from TABLE with (nolock) where id = 1 Does anybody have recommendations on how to improve this statement, as I see when MS SQL gets busy it will end in Timeout Query returned for MS SQL.

    I have a question that I'm ashamed to ask, but I'm going to have a go at it anyway. I am creating a generic repository in asp.net mvc. I came across an example on this website which I find to be exactly what I was looking for, but there is one problem. It references an object - Entity - and I don't know what namespace it is in. I typically create my repositories and use Entity Framework but I decided to use a generic repository because I am using the same code in multiple projects over and over again. As you can tell, a constraint is placed on the code so that it must be an Entity type. I know that there is an Entity in System.Data.Entity, but that isn't what I need. I have had instances before where I was looking for some namespace that took me forever to find, but I have searched and I'm unable to find the appropriate namespace to cast my generic items correctly. I could cast it as a class and be done with it, but it is bugging me that I can't find Entity anywhere.     I am querying an HTML file with Linq. But it kicks the error: Unable to cast object of type 'WhereSelectEnumerableIterator2[System.Xml.Linq.XElement,System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable1[Players]]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[Players]' As you can see, I may really have no idea how to work with all these objects/classes. Does anyone have any insight on what I may be doing wrong and how I can resolve it? RESOLVED: The Linq query needs to return a single iEnumerable, like this: Dim goalieList = From l In _ (From d In players.Elements _ Where d.Value = "Goalies" _ Select d.ElementsAfterSelf.TakeWhile(Function(f) f.@class <> "role")) _ Select New Players With {.Position = "Goalie", .Name = l.Value} and then use goalieList.ToList

    Do you know a web service that's able let's say get a full list of cities in the world with names, short names like PAR for Paris and time zones? Or at least query by city name: Paris - timezone=+02:00, abbrev=PAR Also, what I see here: http://www.earthtools.org/webservices.htm#timezone offset The number of hours offset from UTC disregarding any correction for daylight saving time. That's not a desired result. Of course we need this correction!
