  • Base 62 conversion in Python

    How would you convert an integer to base 62 (like hexadecimal, but with these digits: '0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ'). I have been trying to find a good Python library for it, but they all seems to be occupied with converting strings. The Python base64 module only accepts strings and turns a single digit into four characters. I was looking for something akin to what URL shorteners use.

  • Flex: convert VideoPlayer.currentTime to string "00:00:00:000"

    Is there a way to specify code to be run whenever an error occurs in Matlab? Googling I came across RunTimeErrorFcn and daqcallback, but I believe these are specific to the Data Acquisition Toolbox. I want something for when I just trip over a bug, like an access to an unassigned variable. (I use a library called PsychToolbox that takes over the GPU, so I want to be able to clear its screen before returning to the command prompt.)

I have been suggested to use scikit.timeseries but I need to handle up to microseconds and this last, as far as I know, handles up to milliseconds. Do you know any other library able to do that? At some point I need to merge 2 time series sampled at different time, and I would like to avoid rewriting such kind of features or any new classes from scratch whenever it is possible.     has anybody found a library that works well with large spreadsheets? I've tried apache's POI but it fails miserably working with large files - both reading and writing. It uses massive amounts of memory leaving you needing a supercomputer to parse or create a 20+mb spreadsheet. Surely there is a more memory efficient way and someone has written it?!

    My app needs to process text files during a batch process. Occassionally I receive a file with some special character at the end of the file. I am not sure what that special character is. Is there anyway I can find what that character is so that I can tell the other team which is producing that file. I have used mozilla's library to guess the file encoding and it says UTF-8.

  • Why "Finalize method should not reference any other objects" ?

    I have been pondering why it is recommended that we should not release managed resources inside finalize. If you see the code example at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.gc.suppressfinalize.aspx , and search for string "Dispose(bool disposing) executes in two distinct scenarios" and read that comment, you will understand what I mean. Only possibility I can think of is that it probably has something to do with the fact that it is not possible to predict when finalizer will get called. Does anyone know the right answer ? thanks, mishal

This all works fine and if i stream the video from online it plays fine. Or indeed I can stream it from the resource folder fine. However, after downloading it and saving to the documents folder then attempting to stream I get the error 'movie format not supported' any ideas? thanks very much

    Hello, I am creating some cookies in my ASP.NET application. These cookies expire 10 minutes after they have been created. I follow the approach described on MSDN as shown here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httpcookie.expires.aspx My question is, when a cookie "expires", what happens? Does the browser automatically delete the cookie? Is it our responsibility as developers to remove the cookies if they exist and have expired? Thank you,
