• Getting differences between collections in LINQ

  Hi, I have a collection of image paths, and a larger collection of Image objects (Which contain a path property). I have the code to check for any matching images, but if there are supposed to be four matching image paths (as that is how many are in the first collection), and there is less than this, how can I get the missing one without writing loops? List<string> ImagesToCheck = new List<string>() { "", "s", "ssdd" }; IEnumerable<HtmlImage> Images = manager.ActiveBrowser.Find.AllControls<HtmlImage>(); var v = from i in Images where ImagesToCheck.Any(x => x == i.Src) select i; if (v.Count() < 3) { } So I need to get the items which are not in the collection titled v, but are in ImagesToCheck. • How to make a div expand vertically to wrpa the content within it?

  I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> ..... I put evolving code idioms into modules so that I can reuse any idiom I find myself coding over and over again.   Looking for a way to simulate nested loops (or a cartesian product) i came across the itertools.product function. i need a function or piece of code that receive a list of integers as input and returns a specific generator. example: input = [3,2,4] - gen = product(xrange(3),xrange(2),xrange(4)) or input = [2,4,5,6] - gen = product(xrange(2),xrange(4),xrange(5),xrange(6)) as the size of the lists varies i am very confused in how to do that without the need of a lot of precoding based on a crazy amount of ifs and the size of the list. also is there a difference in calling product(range(3)) or product(xrange(3))?

• How to improve the speed of a loop containing a sqlalchemy query statement as conditional

  This loop checks if a record is in the sqlite database and builds a list of dictionaries for those records that are missing and then executes a multiple insert statement with the list. This works but it is very slow (at least i think it is slow) as it takes 5 minutes to loop over 3500 queries. I am a complete newbie in python, sqlite and sqlalchemy so I wonder if there is a faster way of doing this. list_dict = [] session = Session() for data in data_list: if session.query(Class_object).filter(Class_object.column_name_01 == data[2]).filter(Class_object.column_name_00 == an_id).count() == 0: list_dict.append({'column_name_00':a_id, 'column_name_01':data[2]}) conn = engine.connect() conn.execute(prices.insert(),list_dict) conn.close() session.close() edit: I moved session = Session() outside the loop. • PHP class referencing confusion across multiple files

  I have an index.php file that has 3 includes <?php require_once('mod.php'); $mod = new Mod(); require_once('start.php'); require_once('tools.php'); ....some code.... ?> I need to be able to reference the $mod object inside the start.php and tools.php. How do I pass that object to be referenced by those 2 other require files? Basically the mod.php is a class that has an array list generated in its __construct(). I want to use that array list data inside the startup.php and tools.php file but not sure how to pass in the existing one without calling "new" inside both of those files separately which doesn't do what I need since it resets everything. I have to work with an application in C++ similar to a phone book: the class Agenda with an STL list of Contacts.Regarding the contacts hierarchy,there is a base-class named Contact(an abstract one),and the derived classes Friend and Acquaintance(the types of contact). These classes have,for instance, a virtual method called getName,which returns the name of the contact. Now I must implement the Composite pattern by adding another type of contact,Company(being derived from Contact),which also contains a collection of Contacts(an STL list as well),that can be either of the "leaf" type(Friends or Acquaintances),or they can be Companies as well. Therefore,Company is the Compound type. The question is: how and where can I implement an STL find_if to search the contact with a given name(via getName function or suggest me smth else) both among the "leaf"-type Contact and inside the Company collection? In other words,how do I traverse the tree in order to find possible matches there too,using an uniform function definition? I hope I was pretty clear...

  Hi, I am having trouble picking the best data structure for solving a problem. The problem is as below: I have a nested list of identity codes where the sublists are of varying length. li = [['abc', 'ghi', 'lmn'], ['kop'], ['hgi', 'ghy']] I have a file with two entries on each line; an identity code and a number. abc 2.93 ghi 3.87 lmn 5.96 Each sublist represents a cluster. I wish to select the i.d. from each sublist with the highest number associated with it, append that i.d. to a new list and ultimately write it to a new file. What data structure should the file with numbers be read in as? Also, how would you iterate over said data structure to return the i.d. with the highest number that matches the i.d. within a sublist?   Is it possible to call a php class function DIRECTLY using ajax? Something like below... except ajax... myclass::myfunction(); I've been using the jquery library to work with AJAX. $.get('control.php', {func: funcName, arg1: arg1}); The above is similar to what I'm trying to achieve MINUS the control.php; I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I just thought it would be nice to skip the landing page (control.php) that recieves the funcName. I have a bunch of conditional statements that sort out what class function to run based on the funcName recieved. It seems kind of silly to do this, to have a separate page just to handle function calls. Is there a better way?

• Update existing columns and rows within csv file using Python

  So I've been attempting to use the csv module in Python to add data to existing rows and columns, but only specific columns of each row. So for examples let's say my existing csv file has the following: id, name, city, age 1, Ed,, 34 2, Pat,, 23 So basically the city of each person is missing, so I would like to update each row with that person's city. However, the writerow method only seems replace the existing data within the csv file. Changing the open file to append mode just adds the data to a new row. Is there any way to skip the existing data, and only add the city to each row? Thanks

The problem is when I use the query I'm currently using any events with a start day that has passed will show up lower on the list of upcoming events regardless of the fact that they are current My table (yaml): columns: title: type: string(255) notnull: true default: Untitled Event start_time: type: time end_time: type: time start_day: type: date notnull: true end_day: type: date description: type: string(500) default: This event has no description category_id: integer My query (doctrine): $results = Doctrine_Query::create() ->from("sfEventItem e, e.Category c") ->select("e.title, e.start_day, e.description, e.category_id, e.slug") ->addSelect("c.title, c.slug") ->orderBy("e.start_day, e.start_time, e.title") ->limit(5) ->execute(array(), Doctrine_Core::HYDRATE_ARRAY); Basically I'd like any events that is currently going on (so if today is in between start_day and end_day) to be at the top of the list. How would I go about doing this if it's even possible? Raw sql queries are good answers too because they're pretty easy to turn into DQL.

  When mapping a HasMany or HasManyToMany in fluent nhibernate, you can specify the column name to use for the list as a parameter to the AsList() method as follows: HasMany(c => c.Customers) .AsList(c => c.Column("PositionIndex")); I would prefer to be able to set this using a Fluent NHibernate convention (either a pre-existing one, or a custom one), especially since the default name appears to be "Index" which is a reserved word in MSSQL. I've tried using a custom convention implementing IHasManyConvention, but the instance parameter does not seem to contain the information about whether its a list, a bag, or a set, and also does not contain the column details for the index column. public void Apply(IOneToManyCollectionInstance instance) { } Any ideas?

When I view it like this I get this: So the questions are these: Obviously I am not pointing to the Value and Text property but what is that in this case? And how do I select the value that is in the database? Any help would be appreciated.

  I'm trying to write a simple/small Windows Communication Foundation service application in Visual Basic (but I am very novice in VB) and all the good examples I've found on the net are written in C#. So far I've gotten my WCF service application working but now I'm trying to add callback functionality and the program has gotten more complicated. In the C# example code I understand how everything works but I am having trouble translating into VB the portion of code that uses a delegate. Can someone please show the VB equivalent?   I am using a custom route handler for a webforms application. I am using routes to determine localization. ie: if the url has es or fr in the route it will load either spanish or french resources. for example: www.someroute/es/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx will load: www.someroute/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx with the spanish resources. I am configuring the custom routes in global.asax via: protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { foreach (var value in _customRoutes) { routes.Add(value.RouteName, new Route(value.Route, new CustomRouteHandler(value.ResolvedRoute))); } } where _customroutes is a list of routes. Is there a way to do this with some kind of pattern matching so I can avoid adding a specific route for each page in the application. While I know I could use a t4 template to generate the routes, I guess I am looking for a dynamic way to create the list

  I continue to work on a printer for F# quoted expressions, it doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd like to see what is possible. The active patterns in Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.Patterns and Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.DerivedPatterns used for decomposing quoted expressions will typically provide MemberInfo instances when appropriate, these can be used to obtain the name of a property, function, etc. and their "declaring" type, such as a module or static class. The problem is, I only know how to obtain the CompiledName from these instances but I'd like the F# name. For example, > <@ List.mapi (fun i j -> i+j) [1;2;3] @> |> (function Call(_,mi,_) -> mi.DeclaringType.Name, mi.Name);; val it : string * string = ("ListModule", "MapIndexed") How can this match be rewritten to return ("List", "mapi")?   Hi, Does anyone know of a very basic tag JQuery script? (Facebook like tag feature) All I want to do is when I type @ in a text box for it to search an AJAX search, it then brings back a display name i.e. "Bob Johnson" and an associated Id and stores the Id in a comma delimited list. So an example would be the following .... [TextArea] [Name 1] [Name 2] [Name 3] The thing is it also needs to remove this entry (Id) once the tag gets removed, also it needs to load into a DIV which has a scrollbar so that the list doesn't get to big. If anyone know's how/if this is possible that would be great. Thanks.
