  • Wildcard SSL and Apache configuration

    Hi all, I'm pulling my hard on this configuration, which probably is simply. I have a wildcard ssl certificate which is working. I have the website setup to run on domain.com under SSL. Now, I'm in need to run many subdomains (*.domain.com) on the same server with the same SSL certificate. Shouldn't be that hard, right? Well, I can't get it going. Point is, that the first config is another Tomcat server that serves another site and listens to domain.com and www.domain.com. The other config listens to *.domain.com and pulls the content from another Tomcat server. I already tried this whole setup with mod_rewrite, but simply don't see what I'm doing wrong.   • Windows 7 boot issues

    Ok, I tried to install linux and dual boot my laptop with 7 ultimate. I messed up. When I tried to boot to 7 it said no. Something along the lines of device not found. So I being young and stupid I uninstalled linux which I could boot into, and I still could not boot to windows. Next step was to run the startup fixes from the boot cd. Swing and a miss, I also ran the fixmbr and fixboot. Which brings us up to my current place. I installed 7 again on my blank partition in hopes I could access my other partion. No dice. So my question to yall is how can I fix my original filesystem or at least get to the stuff on it. In the new 7 install the old partion does not even have a drive letter. That is my sad story any help would be apreciated.

I have a partion called Server and inside it i have 5 folders like Folder 1 FOlder 2 Folder 3 I am mounting the drive on startup by using following command as told to me by some senoir members and it works but with some problems /dev/sdb1 /media/Server ntfs defaults,umask=006,fmask=000,dmask=007,uid=1000,gid=1001 0 0 The problem is with this command the permission are applied to all folders like Folder 1 , Folder 2 , FOlder3 But i want that only FOlder 3 should be publicly readable and writable while all other should be private and no one should have access to that. How can i achieve that

  • Linking to lua libraries w/ codeblocks on linux

    After I downloaded the source for lua, I followed the install instructions, doing... make linux install make generic install I've also done the make test and it passes, printing out Hello World, from Lua 5.1. However, I can't link to the lua libraries in CodeBlocks. I know where lualib.a is (usr/local/lib) which I set in my Search Directories for the linker. I still get error messages like... undefined reference to lua_isstring Am I missing something critical here? P.S. I had this running on Windows via Visual Studio.

  • safeboot and wubi

    Hi, Having read various posts it seems clear that installing Wubi on a machine which already has safeboot installed with disk encryption is a non-starter at the moment - nor is repartitioning the disk it would seem. However while the c: partion is encrypted - it has an NTFS formatted q: partition that is not encrypted and has about 4GB free - so I was wondering if there was any way to install WUBI using that partion. Obvisouly stil need a means of booting into it without stuffing my safeboot booting mechanism. I'm thinking that this should be possible as the safeboot booting mechanism will get me to the boot choice options and thereafter all references in the boot.ini entry for the wubi installtion should be to files on the non-encrypted NTFS partion and so it should be OK and not attempt any changes to my envrypted c: partion (other than adding the extra entry to boot.ini) ? any thoughts? ta

  • Unable to open Synaptic manager, unable to install packages, what can I do?

    I have installed the sun java6-jdk package but it's not installed completely. After that it's giving an error when I try to install a new package. In terminal when I write "sudo apt-get install [any package name]" I get an error like this: E: could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock -open (11 Resource temporable ) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg). Also Synaptic package manager is not opening and none of the packages are downloading through any of the methods I know. Please help!

    I just fixed up an old laptop by installing Lubuntu 13.04. The laptop does not have a network card, so it can only connect via Ethernet. I created a hotspot with an Ubuntu laptop, but am having trouble connecting to it via wired. I am not asked for a password when I try to connect, even though the network has a password. The hotspot will not enable a wired connection, so that may be the problem. How can I connect a Lubuntu laptop to an Ubuntu laptop hotspot via Ethernet? Update: The connection also does not ask for a password when connecting to a gaming adapter.

  • X11 forwarding - have window showing on two computers.

    I currently have 2 desks: one with a mac, the other with a 2 Linux computers on. One of those Linux computers is constantly on, so I would run the chat app on that (pidgin, most likely). I can run pidgin on Mac by sshing into the Linux computer with "ssh -X", i.e. X11 forwarding. However, I want to have the chat windows viewable on both computers simultaneously (or at the very least, by entering a command or whatever). Is this possible and if so, how? (Also: I know that it'd be possible via VNC or whatever, but yuck - X11 on mac is bad enough.) Thanks, Tim

    Details: eth0 = current internet port pptp1 = VPN connection, if I connect to my provider, he give me an IP address, which is accessible from the internet. This is what I need. I want to connect through this IP back to my PC. I want to keep my primary internet connection (eth0) on my PC for all traffic, but route traffic to VPN for specified application/or port, to access application/port from the IP, which I given from the pptp provider.     At present, I have: a Netgear router with DHCP off at 192.168.0.1 my computer eth0 at 192.168.0.2 wlan0 at 192.168.0.2 The wlan0 interface always connects to the router, while the eth0 interface connects to other computers with crossover and acts as a dnsmasq DHCP server for network boot and installation. If I use the Gnome NetworkManager to enable both connections, that is, with wlan0 connected to the router/internet and eth0 to another computer, both as 192.168.0.2, I cannot access the internet while eth0 is connected. Why is this? How can I configure my computer to follow wlan0 for Internet usage, but use eth0 for itself (the latter is working but blocking wlan0).

  • Disabling Laptop (PB TJ-75) faulty card reader Linux

    My problem comes from that my laptop [PB TJ-75] has a faulty Alcor card reader. It’s 100% sure, the device is dead and unusable whatever the OS is. It cannot be disabled in BIOS [latest: Vendor: Phoenix Technologies LTD Version: V1.26 Release Date: 05/04/2010]. If I could take it apart from the main board easily, and if with that, the system would never look again for it, I’ll be very happy! Is it possible, has anyone ever tried this? Or maybe, replacing the BIOS with a more open one, which let you disable the card reader. Does this exists? Here's what I've tried to disable it so far. In Win7, I choose ‘disable’ in device manager and that’s ok. If not, the device keeps on appearing and disappearing and lot of resources are used. In Lubuntu 13.04, I got extra boot time, with the msg:'sdb, assuming drive cache, etc.’ I tried other distros (isos booted by grub). I can boot Puppy, Gparted, and Redobackup apparently without any problem. I cannot boot Debian, live or install + tried Crunchbang and Tails. I got a loop :’usb device, scsi n+1 blabla‘. I tried "nousb", no result, I have blacklisted EHCI, no result, then usb_storage module, better boot time in Lubuntu, with just the message "...data transfer failed", better shutdown time too. But, no way to use usb storage medias. In Debian, it ends with BusyBox prompt. Is it possible to just disable that Alcor card reader? Does it have a specific module? Is there a special kernel boot option that I missed? Does it have something to do with kernel recompiling, and if yes, how to do with isos? Programming a driver which says everything is ok (out of my comprehension for the moment)? Disabling device by vendor id? What is the best way?

    I am installing postfix and I am confused what to put for the system mail name. It has an exmaple that sais use "example.org" if a mail address on the system is "[email protected]" but it also sais that the mail name should be the FQDN. my hostname is "mercury" and my FQDN is "mercury.pacificseatheat.org", so should I use "pacificseatheat.org" or "mercury.pacificseatheat.org" for the system mail name?     We're running a website which enables users to download documents about our company, such as: -wallpapers with the company logo. -company logos in various flavours. -media kits in pdf format. Since these files are quite big in size (some reach 1MB), we no longer want them to be downloaded from our website directly as it's consuming our bandwidth. Accordingly we've been looking into document sharing services. For instance we found Scribd which could allow us to share pdf files, but not our wallpapers and logos which are in png format. Is there a free service we can use for our users to reliably download any type of files we want to host? (ideally on a service which allows users to easily browse through our files).

It is supposed to work on Linux, and the gem installs with no errors, but whenever I run any Heroku command it spits out several errors, all connected, and talking about a failed require. I looked it up in the code, and it says: require 'readline' That is it. I have tried to install every variation of libreadline that I can find and think of, but none of it makes any difference.

  • Eucalyptus / no bootable EBS yet - any alternatives to Eucalyptus?

    I've read a couple of articles that Eucalyptus doesn't support bootable EBS yet. This is a problem since you can't make a backup form an instance like you a able on Amazon cloud or Rack Space Cloud. If you ever reboot the physical Ecalyptus sever that's running the node controller the instance is gone along with all your settings. Are there any alternatives to Eucalyptus or is just the only game in town when it comes to open source cloud?
