  • gridview, order number + 1/- 1

    So I am working on a gridview that uses the order number to order the table. However, my users are able to ad a row. What i want is something similar to pages that have the arrows next to each row and the user can click up if they want that row to go up. I also want it to change the actual number in the row column. for the one being moved and for the other one being affected. I hope i am being clear enough

  • iPhone - Create not persistant entities in core data

    Hi everyone, I would like to use entity objects but not store them... I read that I could create them like this: myElement = (Element *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Element" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; And right after that remove them: [managedObjectContext deleteObject:myElement]; then I can use my elements: myElement.property1 = @"Hello"; This works pretty well even though I think this is probably not the most optimal way to do it... Then I try to use it in my UITableView... the problem is that the object get released after the initialization. My table becomes empty when I move it! Thanks

  • Does MVC replace traditional manually created BLL?

    I'm used to creating the UI, BLL, DAL by hand (some times I've used LINQ-to-SQL or SubSonic for the DAL). I've done several small projects using MVC since its release. On these projects I've still continued to write a BLL and DAL by hand and then incorporate those into the MVC's models/controllers. I'm looking to optimize my time on projects this seems like overkill and a potential waste of time. Question Would it be acceptable to roll a DAL such as SubSonic and directly use it in the Models/Controllers of my MVC web app? Now the models & controllers would act as the BLL. I just see this as a major timesaver to not have to worry about another tier. UPDATE: I just wanted to add that my concern isn't really with the DAL (I frequently use SubSonic and NH) but rather focus on the BLL. Sorry for the confusion.

  • mysql - check if data exists across multiple tables

    I am currently running this query inside MySQL to check if the specified values exists within the table associated with them. SELECT COUNT(artist.artist_id), COUNT(album.album_id), COUNT(tracks.track_id) FROM artist, album, tracks WHERE artist.artist_id = 320295 OR album.album_id = 1234 OR tracks.track_id = 809 The result I get from running this query is all 1, meaning that all the statements after the WHERE clause is true. To further check the query's reliability, I changed the tracks.track_ = 809 to 802, which I know does not match. However the results displayed are still all 1, meaning that they were all successfully matched even when I purposefully inserted a value which would not have matched. How do I get it to show 1 for a match and 0 for no matches within the same query? EDIT: I have inserted an image of the query running

    Hi, I am having a problem filter a query. I have Contact and Tag entities. Actually in the database, they are 3 different tables, Contacts, Tags and ContactTag table. I would like to filter contacts using the Tag name.     I'm developing an .NET4 webapplication using MVC3. Let's say i'm getting the following DateTime as string from an XML-feed. The xml feed is being read by my application and i'm looping through all it's descendants. The DateTime i'm receiving is begin returned in the following format (as string); var myDateTime = "Sun Dec 19 11:45:45 +0000 2010" I'm using the piece of code below to try and parse the DateTime string i mentioned above to a valid DateTime format (preferably dutch) var CorrectDateTime = DateTime.ParseExact(myDateTime , "dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ss", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); When trying to execute this code i'm facing an formatexception. Somebody has got any ideas?

  • Call an action from another controller

    I have two different objects: contracts, and task orders. My requirements specify that in order to view the Details for either object, the Url should be "http://.../Contract/Details" or "http://.../TaskOrder/Details" depending on which type. They are both very similar and the details pages are almost identical, so I made a class that can either be a contract or a task order, and has a variable "objectTypeID" that says which type it is. I wrote the action "Details" in the task order controller, but now I want to call that from the contract controller instead of recopying the code. So is there any way to have the url still say ".../Contract/Details" but call the action in the TaskOrder controller instead? I tried using TaskOrderController TOController = new TaskOrderController(); TOController.Details(id); This would have worked except that I can't use the HttpContext.Session anymore, which I used several times in the action.

  • Data storage advice needed: Best way to store location + time data?

    I have a project in mind that will require the majority of queries to be keyed off of lat/long as well as date + time. Initially, I was thinking of a standard RDBMS where lat, long, and the datetime field are properly indexed. Then, I began thinking of a document based system where the document was essentially a timestamp and each document has lat/long with in it. Each document could have n objects associated with it. I'm looking for advice on what would be the best type of storage engine for this sort of thing is - which of the above idea would be better or if there is something else completely that is the ideal solution. My question is about handling my incoming mail server, no matter if you use PHP, Perl, or Python. I do not care, what if I want is the result which should be as close to: I send an email to [email protected], this post will add a case such as photos, then when the mail reaches the server, the server takes to process mail and copy the attached files, in this case the photos to a folder / home / public_html / photos and then, if possible notify you if it was successful or not.     Say I have a TODO list iphone app, that can be edited/viewed from both a web application and the iphone application. When on the iphone, when a user views all his todo lists, or sub-items, I would think that each time the user views a particular list it shouldn't be hitting the web applications API every-time, but rather cache locally the values and only hit the web when things change. What strategies are there for this type of scenerio?

    Hi, I trying to display a large set of checkboxes in my rails app and didnt knwo the syntax for displaying like 15 rows then after starting a new column. I have a model with about 120 entries. Currently, I have it being displayed in the view as.... <% for interest in Interest.find(:all) %> <%= check_box_tag Blah Blah Blah %> <%= interest.name %> <% end %> How can I make it so it makes a table and after every 15 or so rows make a new column???

  • UpdatePanel doesn't Refresh

    I have got a simple page with a HtmlInputHidden field. I use Javascript to update that value and, when posting back the page, I want to read the value of that HtmlInputHidden field. The Value property of that HtmlInputHidden field is on postback the default value (the value it had when the page was created, not the value reflected through the Javascript). I also tried to Register the HtmlInputHidden field with ScriptManager.RegisterHiddenField(Page, "MyHtmlImputHiddenField", "initialvalue") but it still only lets me read the 'initialvalue' even though I (through javascript) can inspect that the value has changed. I tried to hardcoded the rowid and, to my surprise, after postback gridview was exactly the same before the delete but the record was deleted from the database.   • Do I always need to rebuild the project containing references to sub project's dll, if sub projects

    I have a solution containing 4 class library projects and one "web site" project. The web site project contains references to the 3 class library projects, whenever I make changes in any of the class library projects, the only option I see is to rebuild the web site which takes a lot of time. Is there any option that I can only update the dll references and the changes are reflected in the web site project ?

  • How do I access a <form> that is not the master page <form>?

    Winforms developer converting to web developer. I know the part about the Master Page having the tag, what is not clear is if I can or can not have another in one of my content pages. I have been seeing both answers doing searches. I see yes you can if only one has runat=server. The thing is I have a that contains several radio buttons on a web page that has a master page. I have a .js file that has a function if I send the name into it, it will loop thru the controls in the form to see which one is selected and return the desired date horizon(MTD, QTD, YTD, etc.). When I run this on a non master page web page it works fine. However, when I run on a web page that has a master page I can't seem to get to the element. I tried getElementByID, I tried looping through the page elements, etc. Maybe I am going about this incorrectly and I hope someone can straighten me out. Here is the code from my .js file that may help explain what I am trying to do a little better. var frmDateRanges = document.getElementById(formFieldName); var chosen; var len = frmDateRanges.DateRanges.length; for(i=0;i<len;i++) { if(frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].checked) { chosen = frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].value; } } where formFieldName is an arguement that is passed into the function and DateRanges is the name value given to the radio buttons. In the button I call this function I have: onclick ="FunctionCall('frmDateRanges')" FunctionCall is just for description purposes, 'frmDateRanges' is the name and id given to the form action="" Thanks for the help as I am stumped at this point. If there is a better way to do this please let me know that as well.

    Hello, I have several stored procedures in my database, some of them have params, some have no params. I tried to fill a business object by calling the stored procedures, but failed so far. How could I do that dynamically? Later, I want to use this object as a datasource for a report...but thats the next step. The important facts are: different stored procs return different amount of columns stored procs can have params, but its not required How could I achieve that? Thanks :)

The way I'm doing it now is to give each checkbox the id of the item and work with the form collection at the controller's side.
