    I have a half dozen front-end servers all running IIS 6.0-based/hosted applications. (primary .NET 2.0 web apps.) Basically, I'd like to take some basic performance data from each one, through such into a spreadsheet, and compare. CPU load, RAM load, whatever... If anyone can point out a very simple/stupid "here's how you do that" type of tutorial, that would be wonderful.

  • Simple Voip server for ubuntu

    I have a network that connects 2 households and would like to setup a simple voip server so that I can call between the houses. It needs to be for ubnutu , I have used the free 3CX system and while it works brilliantly it doesnt support linux and I can get a windows box. The users will never need to call external lines. They will only make 'calls' between laptops/pc. Can someone please make a recommendation and maybe even a tutorial that I can follow

In an old version of what's up gold, it was a nice dashboard with different rectangular shape being red, yellow or green depending on the status of the service and could be display easily on a screen. Is there some copycat dashboard for nagios ? any better recommendation ? I want something you can see from your desk 15meters away: red or green, no need for details.

    I've been using itunes to stream music over lan, and quite frankly the quality is terrible. On the other hand, its ease of use - having a simple client on either end, and it just 'working' with full control on my end is nice- the quality however is terrible - I'm wondering if there's any controllable streaming remote music serve for windows that will let me pick the bitrate it sends at, or uses whatever bitrate the original file is in, and just sends it, and has itself controllable at the client end, and will work acceptably over a wlan connection

  • Solaris: a simple script does not work, single command does

    In my Solaris Illumos, I run a simple script: update_drv -a -i '[myhardware]' [driver] svcadm disable stmf svccfg import /mypath/myconfig svcadm enable stmf It does not work and gives me no error. The service stmf goes in maintenance mode and I must reboot! I've discovered that if I run the single commands from console, it works but if I put it into a script, it works only the first line. Can you explain this behavior?

    Hello, I am working on a one page website that allows the users to add and remove pages from there navigation as and when they would like too, the way it works is that if the click 'Blog' on the main nav a 'Blog' section should appear on the page, if they then click 'News' the 'News' section should also be visible, however the way I have started to implement this it seems I can only have one section at a time, can my code be adpated to allow multiple sections to shown on the main page.     We run a SVN repository. Some of our more advanced users need to be able to perform some SVN administration without relying on the system administrator. They need to be able to do things like create SVN repositories, delete SVN repositories,, and perform commands like 'svnadmin dump' and 'svnadmin load'. We'd like to avoid SSH access on these FreeBSD machines, and would rather provide a service interface through a Web UI. I'm looking for a simple script (or a small number of scripts) which use Perl or PHP. I found svnadmin or svnadmin.pl, but was hoping to find something with a larger user community or which has been recommended by others. It looks like Trac allows SVN administration, but comes with may more features then we need.

  • Amazon EC2: Instances, IPs and a wordpress blog (LAMP)

    I had a link to my blog posted on Reddit yesterday and MySQL crashed on my EC2 Micro instance. I know I didn't have that many visitors because I used a marketing link that tracks hits. The link got 167 hits over the course of the last 18 hours, and MySQL crashed twice. So anyway, 167 visits is not a lot, so I've done some short term optimizations like restricting the number of Apache threads to limit the MySQL calls. I also set up WP Super Cache to serve static content. Soon I'm going to offload all of my images to S3 or CloudFront. So this leads me to my question. If this doesn't seem to help, and if i have another traffic "spike", how do AMIs work when you have a MySQL database? I think I understand that if you have more than one instance and assign the same Elastic IP to both of them, the incoming traffic gets distributed among both. But what happens when the MySQL database gets updated on one of the instances? I just need to wrap my mind around what happens when I create an AMI and then launch a new instance to help with traffic. Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Cannot open simple script application on mac

    Mac OS X 10.6 I created a very simple app, which is only a wrapper of a shell script (so that I can select this script in application selectors, like startup apps). I try to launch it and yesterday it worked, but today I changed the executable script's content and name (with something that perfeclty works in a shell script launched in the Terminal) and it will only display a Finder-iconed dialog saying Cannot open the application because it is not supported on this kind of Mac. I restored the previous script (content/name) but I still get the error! Same when re-bundling the app from scratch, or completely changing the bundle identifier… If I try to open it in the Terminal using open My.app, I get The application cannot be opened because it has an incorrect executable format. But when I executes directly the Contents/MacOS/Script, it allways works (iwth both contents). Also, it is displayed with correct icon and meta-information in the Finder (so I guess the Info.plist is understood).     i have been asked to make a simple sort aglorithm to sort a random series of 6 numbers into numerical order. However i have been asked to do this using "Barebones" a theoretical language put forward in the Book Computer Science an overview. Some information on the language can be found here http://www.brouhaha.com/~eric/software/barebones/ Just to clarify i am a student teacher and have been doing anaysis on "mini-programing languages" and their uses in a teaching environment, i suggested to my tutor that i look at barebones and asked what sort of exmaple program i should write . He suggested a simple sort algorithm. Now since looking at the language i cant understand how i can do this without using arrays and if statements. The code to swap the value of variables would be while a not 0 do; incr Aux1; decr a; end; while b not 0 do; incr Aux2 decr b end; while Aux1 not 0 do; incr a; decr Aux1; end; while Aux2 not 0 do; incr b; decr Aux2; end; however the language does not provide < or operators

  • Using ExpressionEngine or Joomla templates inside a pre-existing page?

    Hey SO, So I'm new to both Joomla and Expression Engine, and want to know if I can use it like I'd like. I've already made a full site, and would like to integrate blogging into the site. The site is on CodeIgniter. Is there a way that I could create a form template for submitting a post which would then save to my Joomla/CodeIgniter DB. Then, on a different page, use a different Joomla/CodeIgniter template to display the blog in the form I would like. Note that this wouldn't necessarily be powered by EE or Joomla. From what I understand, and from all the examples I've seen, you have to make the html of the entire page inside of their templates. At worst, if neither work, is there anything I can use to do this?   • Installing Wordpress - constant PHP/MySQL extension appears missing

    I've got Win2003 w/IIS6, PHP 5 and MySQL installed. I can confirm PHP is installed correctly because I have a testMe.php that runs properly. When I run the Wordpress setup, I get informed that Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress. But in my PHP.ini in the DYNAMIC EXTENSIONS section I have extension=php_mysql.dll extension=php_mysqli.dll I verified that mysql.dll and libmysql.dll are both in my PHP directory. I copied my libmysql.dll to the C:\Windows\System32 directory. When I try to run the initial setup for WordPress, I get this answer. I've Googled setting this up, and everything comes down to the above. I'm missing something, but none of the instructions that I've found online seem to cover whatever that is.

    I am using jquery.tabs() and want to load the pages of the tabs with ajax. I am using MVC pattern with PHP and used a frontcontroller / pagecontroller pattern. The templating is done by PHP, e.g.: <?php if($this->userLoggedIn == TRUE): ?> <span>Herzlich Willkommen <?php echo $this->userName; ?>! [<a href="logout">Ausloggen</a>] </span> <?php endif; ?> The variables ($this-userName) are injected by the pagecontroller class. The problem is, that when I load a page via ajax, the variables are not known. Following PHP error is coming up: Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context.... Any idea, how to use / load the variables and using it in the template files.

    I'm writing my own blog/CMS engine (using WebApp and Google App Engine), and I'm looking for a light-weight XML format to use for content storage. Is there some already existing format that could be used for this purposes? Maybe some subset of the DocBook or ePub format? I had a look at those and they seem to be a little of overkill for what I want to do. Then again WXR (Wordpress eXtended RSS) or the one from Pluxml (pluxml.org) might be suited as well. Any ideas?

I tried <Files ~ "\.inc\.php$"> Order deny,allow Deny from all </Files> and RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} \.inc\.php RewriteRule .* - [F,L,NS] They both prevent users from viewing /myscript.inc.php?s=blah but they also cause /script-blah to return 403... Is there a way to do this correctly?

Would a potential employer like to see something like that? What about someone hiring a freelancer?
