I've started using try catch blocks (bit late i know!) but now im not sure what to do with the exception once i've caught it. What do people usually do here?

Dim sqlCmd As New SqlCommand("do some SQL", connection)

I have a asp:GridView with a HyperLinkField. It's DataNavigateUrlFormatString property is set to View.aspx?id={0}&isTechnical={1}
Select command of appropriate SqlDataSource returns columns of type INT and BYTE (from SQL Server 2008).
So displayed string becomes something like View.aspx?id=1&isTechnical=1. But I want to display isTechnical=true|False, i.e. Convert.ToBoolean(row["isTechnical"]).ToString().ToLowerInvariant().
How to implement such conversion in page markup?
I have test_scores table with following fields:
Table schema:
id (number)
score1 (number)
score2 (number)
score3 (number)
score4 (number)
Sample data:
id score1 score2 score3 score4
1 10 05 30 50
2 05 15 10 00
3 25 10 05 15
Expected result set:
id col_name col_value
1 score4 50
2 score2 15
3 score1 25
What is a good SQL for this?(I am using MySQL.)
I have the following SQL query which returns the correct results:
SELECT *
FROM `tags`
WHERE tag_name = '???\\\"?-???????'
If I change it to
SELECT *
FROM `tags`
WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????'
or to
SELECT *
FROM `tags`
WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????%'
It doesn't work. It will work if I remove all the backslashes and " from the query.
I have a table created long ago in postgreSQL. Now i want to look at the sql statement used to create it but cannot figure it out.
Also when i do the \dS+ tablename it says table not found, but \dt+ tablename is working fine. The \dS+ lists all the table names owned by the root postgres user and doesn't show up tables that i created with my user account.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

SELECT TOP (100) UserName, FullName_Company, FullName,
(SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM dbo.Member_Ref
WHERE (RefFrom_UserName = dbo.view_Members.UserName) AND (RefDate >= '5/1/2010') AND (RefDate <= '6/1/2010'))

Hi,
Is there any way to cache LINQ to SQL queries by looking at the parameters that were previously passed and bypass the database all together?
I know L2S caches some database calls, but I'm looking for a permanant solution as in, even if the applciation restarts, that cache reloads and never asks the database again.
Are there any frameworks for C#?
I am using SQL Server 2000. I have a database with n number of tables in it. I have configured a maintenance plan. If I enable integrity check and run the plan, I am not able to enter any data through VC++/ADO.
Is there anything I have to check?
If I try this statement:
INSERT INTO TerminalEventChild (id,stringValue) VALUES
(64,'version123|');
MySQL fail with :
Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''version123' at line 1
SQLState: 42000
ErrorCode: 1064
If I remove the | character, everything works fine. Any idea?
We have a requirement to log IP address information of all users who use a certain web application based on JEE 5. What would be an appropriate sql data type for storing IPv4 or IPv6 addressses in the following supported databases (h2, mysql, oracle). There is also a need to filter activity from certain IP addresses. Should I just treat the representation as a string field (say varchar(32) to hold ipv4, ipv6 addresses)
Hello.
I have a short question. Im my current project I'm using LINQ-to-SQl. That is the best way to determine if table has record with specific ID?
Thanks in advance.
I am getting started with Postgresql, I converted a MS SQL DB but I cannot understand why
SELECT * FROM TABLE doens't work
while
SELECT * FROM "TABLE" does
Moreover from another machine, connecting to the same DB I can run
SELECT * FROM TABLE (without ")
It's a PG-newbie question, I hope you can help.
MS SQL Server has a TABLE data type which can be used in stored procedures,
Does anybody know if MySQL has an equivalent data type?
I've had a look over the docs but can't seem to find anything, so I presume it doesn't exist, but perhaps somebody has created a workaround
I'm using ASP.Net and would like to display currencies based on a country.
I've had a look at http://www.xe.com/symbols.ph, http://www.xe.com/iso4217.php and http://www.iso.org/iso/support/faqs/faqs_widely_used_standards/widely_used_standards_other/currency_codes/currency_codes_list-1.htm
Is there anywhere I can get something that I can load into a database? Or is there something built in to SQL Server 2005/ASP.Net to help with this?
Hi guys, suppose someone enter this search (on an form):
Nicole Kidman films
Which SQL i can use to find "the best" results ?
I suppose something like this :
SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE ( Field='%Nicole Kidman Films%' OR Field='%Nicole%' OR Field='%Kidman%' OR Field='%Films%' )
My question is how to get most relevant result ?
Thank you very much!
I need to use C# to get data from database(sql) and the data in database is updated every few seconds. So do I have to make a loop or there is a better way to do that? Is it possible that when database is updating, the program can wait until it finishes updating? thx!
