    Hi, When one develops a self-hosted WCF http server, one of the steps needed is to bind an SSL certificate to a port number: httpcfg set ssl -i 0.0.0.0:8012 -h 0000000000003ed9cd0c315bbb6dc1c08da5e6 as stated in: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms733791.aspx However, It is hardly expected that in my deployment environment one would be able to do it. (I don't even know if the httpcfg.exe is redistributable) Moreover, if the user changed the port after he installed the product then he will need to run the command again.... how can this step be automated pro grammatically? preferably in C# but if it can only be done in C++ (direct access to the Http Server API) then I will manage :)

    I've been reading through a number of questions on this site regarding NSURLConnection and https, but most relate to "untrusted" certificates and how to allow them nonetheless. My question is a little more basic. I am building an app for a client who handle online donations, and I would like to load their donation script using an NSLURLRequest and POST the values of credit card details (entered in the app). Does NSURLConnection (when connecting to a https url) ensure the encryption of those details as they are sent to the donation script on my clients server? Sorry if this is a basic question, I just couldn't find a place in the apple docs that guaranteed this.

  • Setting up a transparent SSL proxy

    I've got a linux box set up with 2 network cards to inspect traffic going through port 80. One card is used to go out to the internet, the other one is hooked up to a networking switch. The point is to be able to inspect all HTTP and HTTPS traffic on devices hooked up to that switch for debugging purposes. I've written the following rules for iptables: nat -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.2.1:1337 -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 1337 -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.2.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE On 192.168.2.1:1337, I've got a transparent http proxy using Charles (http://www.charlesproxy.com/) for recording. Everything's fine for port 80, but when I add similar rules for port 443 (SSL) pointing to port 1337, I get an error about invalid message through Charles. I've used SSL proxying on the same computer before with Charles (http://www.charlesproxy.com/documentation/proxying/ssl-proxying/), but have been unsuccessful with doing it transparently for some reason. Some resources I've googled say its not possible - I'm willing to accept that as an answer if someone can explain why. As a note, I have full access to the described set up including all the clients hooked up to the subnet - so I can accept self-signed certs by Charles. The solution doesn't have to be Charles-specific since in theory, any transparent proxy will do. Thanks! Edit: After playing with it a little, I was able to get it working for a specific host. When I modify my iptables to the following (and open 1338 in charles for reverse proxy): nat -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.2.1:1337 -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 1337 -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 443 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.2.1:1338 -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 443 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 1338 -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.2.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE I am able to get a response, but with no destination host. In the reverse proxy, if I just specify that everything from 1338 goes to a specific host that I wanted to hit, it performs the hand shake properly and I can turn on SSL proxying to inspect the communication. The setup is less than ideal because I don't want to assume everything from 1338 goes to that host - any idea why the destination host is being stripped? Thanks again

    Hi, I'm trying to make a clean url for a blog on a dynamic website, but I think that the problem is that I don't know how to plan the website schema. I read about how to use mod_rewrite and all I found is how to make "http://www.website.com/?category&date&post-title" to "http://www.website.com/category/date/post-title". that's works o.k for me. The problem is that If my url looks like "http://www.website.com/blog/?id=34" this method won't work as far as I got it. So, I have two questions: 1. Is there a way to use mod_rewrite (maybe read from a txt file) to read the post title of my blog and rewrite my url by date and post-title? 2. Should I rewrite my website to query the data from one index file in the homepage and use mod_rewrite to write the nice url? should I query also the date and the title of the post instead just the post ID?

I want to be able to authenticate users against Windows ActiveDirectory (2008 R2) and the users file, because some of my co-workers are not listed in AD. We use the freeradius server to authenticate WLAN users.   • Squid 2.7.STABLE3-4.1 as a transparent proxy on Ubuntu Server 9.04

    Can't get this to work at all! I'm trying to get this linux box to act as a transparent proxy and, with the help of DHCP, force everyone on the network to gate into the proxy. I have two ethernet connections, both to the same switch. And I'm trying to get 192.168.1.234 to become the default gateway. The actual WAN connection is to a gateway 192.168.1.1. eth0 is 192.168.1.234 eth1 is 192.168.1.2 Effectively I'm trying to make eth0 a LAN only interface and eth1 a WAN interface. I've oi should set the gateway for eth1 to point to 192.168.1.234 my squid.conf file has the following directives added at the bottom: nly set eth0 to have a gateway address in /etc/network/interfaces I'm not sure whether http_port 3128 transparent acl lan src 192.168.1.0/24 acl lh src 127.0.0.1/255.255.255.0 http_access allow lan http_access allow lh i've added the following routing commands: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.1.2:3128 iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 3128 I set a computer with TCP settings 192.168.1.234 as the gateway and opened up google.com, but it comes up with a request error.     I'm setting up a net.tcp WCF service using instructions here: http://blogs.msdn.com/swiss_dpe_team/archive/2008/02/08/iis-7-support-for-non-http-protocols.aspx One of the steps says to do the following: "If you open the IIS7 management console and you look at the advance setting of our IIS7HostedService Web Application, you will see that in the Enabled Protocols section just http is defined. You now have to add net.tcp (separated by a comma), so that our service will be able to respond also to TCP requests." This is fine, but what if I want to use the Cassini / VS2010 ASP.NET development server to debug (hitting F5 or cntrl-F5)? I don't think there's a way to change the settings in that IIS. Or is there? Are other programmers just so awesome that they don't need to go through the debugger? Or do they use wsHttpBinding?

    Hi, Background - I can get HttpListener working fine for HTTP traffic. I'm having trouble with HTTPS traffic however. QUESTION: How can I change the code below so that a browser request to a "https" URL will actually be picked up by my HttpListener? Notes - At the moment with firefox's proxy settings set to "localhost:8080", when I listen to traffic on port 8080 ("https://*:8080/"), and I enter a HTTPS url in firefox, I am getting no traffic being picked up? (when I listen to just http and enter normal http url's it works fine) _httpListener = new HttpListener(); _httpListener.Prefixes.Add("https://*:8080/"); _httpListener.Start(); thanks

    Background I am developing an application (with Spring MVC) with its base path as: http://localhost:8080/myapplication/ I have a stylesheet /css/style.css that I am trying to refer with absolute path in a JSP as: <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen, projection"> Problem The stylesheet never loads in the browser. When I follow the stylesheet link through browser's view source feature, the link appears to be: http://localhost:8080/css/style.css Which should have had been: http://localhost:8080/myapplication/css/style.css I used to fix this issue with html:rewrite tag while working with Struts. Is there any equivalent tag/technique in Spring MVC? Thanks for your time.

    Hello, I am trying to call a WCF RESTful service from jQuery. I am using JSON to encode both request and response.     hi, Here i write code to take printout the textarea content using jquery. I load the two java script (jquery-1.3.2.js and jquery.print.js) But these two source file not support rich:datascroller tag.. That means there is no reaction in datascroller. I need to take print the textarea content and also perfectly work to datascroller also. Here i give jsp and related java files. This code have datatable, rich:datascroller and textarea. Datatable for only used for test the datascroller component. My question: i want to design a database, that will be used for a production facility of different types of products where each product has its own (number of) parameters. because i want the serial numbers to be in one tabel for overview purposes i have a problem with these different paraeters . One solution could be EAV, but it has its downsides, certainly because we have +- 5 products with every product +- 20.000 serial numbers (records). it looks a bit overkill to me... I just don't know how one could design a database so that you have an attribute in a mastertable that says: 'hey, you could find details of this record in THAT detail-table". 'in a way that you qould easely query the results) currenty i am using Visual Basic & Acces 2007. but i'm going to Visual Basic & MySQL. thanks for your help. Bob

  • Intermittent Connection Issues to SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM

    The problem I am facing is a very complex one and inspite of trying to gather a root cause of the problem, I am standing at the same place after 2 months with just bits and pieces of information.Here is a scenario: There is a windows 2003 server which uses an system DSN ODBC connection. I looked into the driver properties and it is as follows: Name Version File SQL Server 2000.86.3959.00 SQLSRV32.DLL Now, this system DSN has been given configured with TCP\IP in Network Libraries and 'determine port dynamically' is checked. Now, lets come to the database destination. It is hosted on Windows 2008 having SQL 2008 R2 RTM version 64-bit. Now, I will give you a an overview about the events that happen and whatever troubleshooting I could perform: I get an email saying 'blah blah' failed and the only message their application gets is 'cannot connect to database' I go the SQL Server logs and find the following information: Login failed for user ''. Reason: An attempt to login using SQL authentication failed. Server is configured for Windows authentication only. [CLIENT: 10.0.0.xx Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 58.] A quick search shows that this error may come when an SQL Server is configured with windows authentication but its not true. We have mixed mode and connection issue is intermittent. This SQL Server is configured to run on a local system account but since we use only SQL Server accounts to connect to this, there should not be any Kerberos errors. When I run a profiler trace and see only 'existing connections', i see a lot of them coming from my client server displaying the sql user but NO hostname is shown. Textdata field shows TCP\IP information along with some arithabort and ansi-null settings. Then Sys.Data is undefined So I added http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/act/40412/MicrosoftAjaxDataContext.debug.js. But then TypeError: Sys.Data.OpenDataContext is not a constructor What shall I do to be able to call the service the way they do it on the first link? What are the scripts and resources needed?   • Drupal localhost redirecting to www.localhost.com

    Hey! I am working on a drupal site which I checked out (svn) to my localhost. Now the problem is that when I go to: http://www.site.com it all works fine, but when I go to: http://localhost/work/site I get redirected to http://www.localhost.com/work/site I have ran the install.php script and all works great. It reinstalls everything but when I go to the main site the redirect occurs. I removed the .htaccess file, didn't do anything. I am using windows 7 ultimate 64 (also tried on winxp pro 32) apache 2.2, php 5.2.13 Anyone know anyway to fix this? Thanks

I've got Ubuntu 12.04vm installed on 12.04 host in Virtualbox 4.2.4 set to - Bridged network mode - Promiscuous Allow All When I try to ping the virtual guest from any network client I get the expected result.     We want http://webserver.com/foo to point to an instance of WAS 6.0, and http://webserver.com/foo2 to point to an instance of WAS 7.0, running on the same server, but with different port numbers. This is a temporary thing, as we need to have both servers running as we transition our applications from running on 6.0 to 7.0. The webserver is IBMIHS (an Apache variant), and it needs to use the WebSphere plugin to connect to the WAS servers. Will this work? Any drawbacks?

    Hi, I'm generating proxy using svcutil tool. My contract methods return objects of particular type. However generated proxy client interface has return value of type object. What is more I get exception with message: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail] : The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:name. The InnerException message was 'XML 'Element' 'http://tempuri.org/:name' does not contain expected attribute 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/:Type'. The deserializer has no knowledge of which type to deserialize. Check that the type being serialized has the same contract as the type being deserialized.'. Please see InnerException for more details. Any ideas what's going on?
