  • UnknownHostException again!

    - by Nitesh Panchal
    Hello, I posted one question previously and all of them answered that there is some problem with DNS but i changed my DNS to many addressed and now i have the most reliable, google DNS :- 8.8.8.8 Still i get the same UnknownHostException. What can be the problem? This is my code :- DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc = db.parse("http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/india"); Infact if i pass address as something very common like :- http://google.com i still get the same error. Please help me :(. I have my submissions tomorrow. Thanks in advance :) EDIT : If i type the same address in my mozilla, it works great. So, i am sure that there is no DNS problem. 2nd EDIT :- I found this link http://www.ehow.com/how_4747553_fix-unknownhostexception-java-applications-ubuntu.html But when i run the command sudo apt-get install lib32nss-mdns i get package not found. Somebody even mentioned :- -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true But where do i write this statement of Djava? I am using Netbeans 6.8 to run my web application

  • What's wrong (or right) with this JS Object Pattern?

    - by unsane1
    Here's an example of the pattern I'm using in my javascript objects these days (this example relies on jQuery). http://pastie.org/private/ryn0m1gnjsxdos9onsyxg It works for me reasonably well, but I'm guessing there's something wrong, or at least sub-optimal about it, I'm just curious to get people's opinions. Here's a smaller, inline example of it: sample = function(attach) { // set internal reference to self var self = this; // public variable(s) self.iAmPublic = true; // private variable(s) var debug = false; var host = attach; var pane = { element: false, display: false } // public function(s) self.show = function() { if (!pane.display) { position(); $(pane.element).show('fast'); pane.display = true; } } self.hide = function() { if (pane.display) { $(pane.element).hide('fast'); pane.display = false; } } // private function(s) function init () { // do whatever stuff is needed on instantiation of this object // like perhaps positioning a hidden div pane.element = document.createElement('div'); return self; } function position() { var h = { 'h': $(host).outerHeight(), 'w': $(host).outerWidth(), 'pos': $(host).offset() }; var p = { 'w': $(pane.element).outerWidth() }; $(pane.element).css({ top: h.pos.top + (h.h-1), left: h.pos.left + ((h.w - p.w) / 2) }); } function log () { if (debug) { console.log(arguments); } } // on-instantiation let's set ourselves up return init(); } I'm really curious to get people's thoughts on this.

  • How can I [simply] consume JSON Data to display to the page

    - by Atomiton
    I usually use JSON with jQuery to just return a string with html. However, I want to start to use Javascript objects in my code. What's the simplest way to get started using json objects on my page? Here's a sample Ajax call ( after $(document).ready( { ... }) of course: $('#btn').click(function(event) { event.preventDefault(); var out = $('#result'); $.ajax({ url: "CustomerServices.asmx/GetCustomersByInvoiceCount", success: function(msg) { // // Iterate through the json results and spit them out to a page? // }, data: "{ 'invoiceCount' : 100 }" }); }); My WebMethod: [WebMethod(Description="Gets customers with more than n invoices")] public List<Customer> GetCustomersByInvoiceCount(int? invoiceCount) { using (dbDataContext db = new dbDataContext()) { return db.Customers.Where(c => c.InvoiceCount >= invoiceCount); } } What gets returned: {"d":[{"__type":"Customer","Account":"1116317","Name":"SOME COMPANY","Address":"UNit 1 , 392 JOHN ST. ","LastTransaction":"\/Date(1268294400000)\/","HighestBalance":13922.34},{"__type":"Customer","Account":"1116318","Name":"ANOTHER COMPANY","Address":"UNIT #345 , 392 JOHN ST. ","LastTransaction":"\/Date(1265097600000)\/","HighestBalance":549.42}]} What I'd LIKE to know, is what are people generally doing with this returned json? Do you iterate through the properties and create an html table on the fly? Is there way to "bind" JSON data using a javascript version of reflection ( something like the .Net GridView Control ) Do you throw this returned data into a Javascript Object and then do something with it? An example of what I want to achieve is to have an plain ol' html page ( on a mobile device )with a list of a Salesperson's Customers. When one of those customers are clicked, the customer id gets sent to a webservice which retrieves the customer details that are relevant to a sales person. I know the SO talent pool is quite deep so I figured you all here would be able to guide in the right direction and give me a few ideas on the best way to approach this.

  • jQuery, Ajax & PHP submit multiple forms dilemma

    - by user557563
    This is a very simple form that I have found on the web (as I am a jQuery beginner). <!-- this is my jquery --> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("form#submit_wall").submit(function() { var message_wall = $('#message_wall').attr('value'); var id = $('#id').attr('value'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "index.php?leht=pildid", data:"message_wall="+ message_wall + "&id="+ id, cache: false, success: function(){ $("ul#wall").prepend(""+message_wall+"", ""+id+""); $("ul#wall li:first").fadeIn(); alert("Thank you for your comment!"); } }); return false; }); }); </script> <!-- this is my HTML+PHP --> some PHP ... while($row_pilt = mysql_fetch_assoc($select_pilt)){ print <form id="submit_wall"> <label for="message_wall">Share your message on the Wall</label> <input type="text" id="message_wall" /> <input type="hidden" id="id" value="'.(int)$row_pilt['id'].'"> <button type="submit">Post to wall</button> </form> and down below is my PHP script that writes to mySQL. It is a pretty straight forward script. However, it is getting little complicated when I submit it. Since I have more than one form on my page (per WHILE PHP LOOP), thus when I submit - only the FIRST form gets submitted. Furthermore, any other subsequent forms that I submit - data is being copied from the first form. Is there any jQuery functions that clear the data? - or is there a better solution. Thanks, Nick

  • Use external inline script as local function

    - by Aidan
    Had this closed once as a duplicate, yet the so-called duplicate DID NOT actually address my whole question. I have found this script that, when run inline, returns your IP. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://l2.io/ip.js"></script> http://l2.io/ip.js Has nothing more than a line of code that says document.write('123.123.123.123'); (But obviously with the user's IP address) I want to use this IP address as a return string for a function DEFINED EXTERNALLY, BUT STILL ON MY DOMAIN. That is, I have a "scripts.js" that contains all the scripts I wish to use, and I would like to include it in that list as a local function that calls to the 12.io function, but javascript won't allow the < tags, so I am unsure as to how to do this. I.e. function getIP() { return (THAT SCRIPT'S OUTPUT); } This is the topic this was supposedly a duplicate of, and it is very similar. Get ip address with javascript However, this DOES NOT address defining as a forwarded script it in my own script file.

  • slidepanel/hover help

    - by Josh
    I'm trying to create a menu navigation system from the top of the page. I want it so when I hover over the link, it drops down (the link drops down; so it'd be as if there was a whole field being hidden beyond the 0px mark) with the related field. I've gotten it to work, somehow but it still isn't right. A few issues are: when I hover over .drop_slide and then if I choose to close it by hovering back over the .drop_slide it does as it's told, which is "slide, slide". I'm interested in rectifying this issue so it doesn't do that, however I just don't know how. The idea is to have multiple links in the .slide, so I need it to be constantly open while the user mouses over the other links. Should this be created in one field? If so, how would I do that with a drop down in mind? Am I approaching this completely wrong? Lol. Should I be researching into .animate? I've been looking at it actually, but I can't get anything to grow negatively. Say; marginTop: -85px or something. ANY help is appreciated, thanks! $(document).ready(function(){ function slide() { $("#panel").slideToggle("slow"); } $(".drop_slide").hover(slide, stop); $("#panel").hover(stop, slide); });

  • Ajax to read from form

    - by Edwin
    Hello, I'm writing a store system for my game, it worked quite well until I found out that it only takes the amount of first entered Item. function pbuy(buyitem) { var amountc = "amount-"+buyitem, var amount = $("#"+amountc+"").val(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "store2.php", data: "buyitem="+ buyitem+"&amount="+amount, success: function(resp){ document.getElementById('ajaxDiv').innerHTML = resp; }, error: function(e){ alert('Error: ' + e); } }); } I'm trying to give it it the Id of the form like so: function pbuy(buyitem) { var amountc = "amount-"+buyitem, var amount = $("#"+amountc+"").val(); But nothing happens. The code the creation of the forms is: <tr> <td class='items' width='80%' align='center' valign='top'><?PHP echo $itemstore->itemname;?> </td> <td width="20%"> Price:<?PHP echo $itemstore->newprice;?> <form method="post"> <input type='text' id='amount-<?PHP echo $row;?>)' /> <input name="itembid" type="button" onclick="pbuy(<?PHP echo $row;?>)" value="Buy" /></form></td> </tr> If I hardcode the amount in the ajax function it all runs fine like it should.

  • What goes into the "Controller" in "MVC"?

    - by P72endragon
    I think I understand the basic concepts of MVC - the Model contains the data and behaviour of the application, the View is responsible for displaying it to the user and the Controller deals with user input. What I'm uncertain about is exactly what goes in the Controller. Lets say for example I have a fairly simple application (I'm specifically thinking Java, but I suppose the same principles apply elsewhere). I organise my code into 3 packages called app.model, app.view and app.controller. Within the app.model package, I have a few classes that reflect the actual behaviour of the application. These extends Observable and use setChanged() and notifyObservers() to trigger the views to update when appropriate. The app.view package has a class (or several classes for different types of display) that uses javax.swing components to handle the display. Some of these components need to feed back into the Model. If I understand correctly, the View shouldn't have anything to do with the feedback - that should be dealt with by the Controller. So what do I actually put in the Controller? Do I put the public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) in the View with just a call to a method in the Controller? If so, should any validation etc be done in the Controller? If so, how do I feedback error messages back to the View - should that go through the Model again, or should the Controller just send it straight back to View? If the validation is done in the View, what do I put in the Controller? Sorry for the long question, I just wanted to document my understanding of the process and hopefully someone can clarify this issue for me!

  • I can't find the homepage for my ASP.NET MVC site :(

    - by Pure.Krome
    Hi folks, really simple question here. when I remove the default route, I returns an empty page to the browser :- routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); Now before everyone starts shouting "that's because that's the default route to access all action methods, etc.." .. i know that. My question is - what code / routes does the default framework try and call .. which makes that Default Route get used/kick in? Why? I don't wish to make that my default route regex (don't ask why - this is some R&D) but I still need the main home page .. ie. Home/Index . If i try and just add that route, it doesn't get called and an empty page is returned. So -- what does the framework try and call when a user doesn't provide any urls? It's like there's some secret default document stuff set up? Cheers :)

  • (JQuery) How to call a custom function before following link

    - by morpheous
    I want to achieve the following behavior in a page link. When the link is clicked, I want to: First, send (POST) some data back to the server Second, allow the browser to navigate to the url that the link was pointing to. I am relatively new to JQuery, and here is my first attempt below. I will be grateful to any jQuery gurus in here to fillin the blanks (and maybe point out how the snippet below may be improved). <html> <head>test page</head> <body> <div><a id="hotlink" href="http://www.example.com">Clik and see</a></div> </body> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('hotlink').click(function(){ //AJAX Post data here ... //follow the link url (i.e. navigate/browse to the link) ... }); }); </script> </html>

  • Google Chrome && (cache || memory leaks).

    - by Alexey Ogarkov
    Hello All, I have a big problem with Google Chrome and its memory. My app is displaying to user several image charts and reloads them every 10s. In the interval i have code like that var image = new Image(); var src = 'myurl/image'+new Date().getTime(); image.onload = function() { document.getElementById('myimage').src = src; image.onload = image.onabort = image.onerror = null; } image.src = src; So i have no memory leaks in Firefox and IE. Here the response headers for images Server Apache-Coyote/1.1 Vary * Cache-Control no-store (// I try no-cache, must-revalidate and so on here) Content-Type image/png Content-Length 11131 Date Mon, 31 May 2010 14:00:28 GMT Vary * taken from here In about:cache page there is no my cached images. If i enable purge-memory-button for chrome (--purge-memory-button parameter) it`s not help. Images is in PNG24. So i think that the problem is not in cache. May be Google Chrome is not releasing memory for old images. Please help. Any suggestions. Thanks.

  • jQuery variable and object caching

    - by niksy
    This is something that has been bugging me some time and every time I found myself using different solution for this. So, I have link in my document which on click creates new element with some ID. <a href="#" id="test-link">Link</a> For the purpose of easier reusing, I would like to store that new elements ID in a variable which is jQuery object var test = $('#test'); On click I append that new element on body, new element is DIV $('body').append('<div id="test"/>'); And here goes the main "problem" - if I test this new elements length with test.length it first returns 0 and later 1. But, when I test it with $('#test').length it returns 1 from the start. I suppose it is some caching mechanism and I was wondering is there better, all-around solution which will allow to store elements in variables in the start for later repurpose and in the same time work with dynamically created elements. Live, delegate, something else? What I do sometimes is create string and add it to jQuery object but I think this is just avoiding the real issue. Also, using .find() inside another jQuery object. Thanks in advance.
