Hi there,
I am looking to host a wcf service while i am developing.
Is this best with IIS or can i just use the default BUILT IN web server that ships with Visual Studio?
I can change the Assign automatic port to specific port so in my client i always ahave a fixed address.
I was hoping somebody could advise the best way to go?
Hi all,
I have some code generated by Moyea web player free trial version. Because it's a free version, the link goes to their website. How can i change the link to my own preferred location with the free trial version?
Hi all,
I'm developing a ASP.NET MVC application. There is little space for me to put two standard file uploading web controls in a page. So I'm seeking for some succinct alternatives. A checkbox-look button pops up a file open dialog is ideal. Is there any kind of stuff?
Thanks in advance!
I'm developing web-application with JSF. I tested it as I was able to but from time to time runtime exceptions are thrown.
So, how to redirect user to special error page every time an exception is thrown (instead of displaying 500 Error with full tomcat logs)?
Has anyone successfully accessed AWS (Amazon E-Commerce Services) through Cocoa Touch? I've been digging around, and haven't seen the issue addressed directly. I've created an AWS account, and have seen some sample code for accessing web services through Cocoa, but I'm not quite sure how to tie it all together.
If anyone has any sample code, I'd love to see it. I'm just trying to get my head around the concepts.
Hi everybody,
for a web service, depending on a XML file, there are a couple af classes in C# generated.
Depending on these classes, there is at compile time then the WSDL file generated.
Is there a possibility at runtime to simply replace the XML file and to have the WSDL file generated on the fly?
Best regards,
Valer
Hi,
I have a couple of UI elements such as buttons in my web application. I was going to use CSS3's transitions to animate the transition from one background-image to another. I figured out that it's not possible with the current transitions draft at least. So, I was wondering if it would make sense to use Canvas as the button. I'm sure it can handle events, so, I see no problems here. Are there any?
Does anybody know a clean PHP-based solution that can backup remote web sites using FTP?
Must haves:
Recursive FTP backups
Possible to run through a cron job
Easy to configure (easy adding of multiple sites)
Local storage of backup files is sufficient
Would be nice:
Backed up sites are stored as zip files
A nice interface to manage things
Provides notification when backup has succeeded or failed
Does incremental backups
Does MySQL Database backups
I need this to be PHP (or Perl) based because it's going to be used on shared hosting packages that do not allow usage of the standard GNU/Linux tools available.

I'm new to SOA (and to Stack Overflow too...)
Some services and web applications we are developing must all log audit information. We are considering an audit service for this. Is there any SOA governing principal that should make me think twice about having one of the services call the audit service to log information? A service-to-service call in other words?
I'd like to host a WCF web service in IIS. The service should keep a certain set of data all the time, it must never be lost.
My colleague told me this is impossible because IIS closes down the service after a certain time (I assume without any activity). Is that true? How do I prevent that behavior?
In case it matters, both IIS 6 and 7 are available.
What Mac OS X (leopard) application can I use to create favicon.ico -like ico files?
Note: This is not to create widget icons or the like, but the (e.g. 16x16 pixel) files that appear on a web browser's tab and alongside a bookmark...
I have my NHibernate configuration successfully set up in my web.config file. However, I am also using ASP.NET Membership which requires a connectionstring to be defined in the connectionStrings element. Is there a way I can make my NHibernate configuration use this value so I don't need to define the connection string twice?
TIA!
I have an existing website running. I want this site to be able to be viewed on mobiles smart phones as well. I am ready to shave off some stuff, but would like to know how can I test this and are there any tools/guidelines on how to repurpose the site to be best viewed on mobile phones ? How to detect on the web site whether a mobile phone or a PC is hitting the site and accordingly serve the appropriate content.
What are some tools that the professionals use? I want to make some professional looking designs for myself, but don't know where to start. I have 4 years of programing experience and about 5 years of web design experience, but I'm just not good with designing a layout.
I want to create a simple transaction on my Web Site where after the person's transaction completes, I want paypal to redirect the user to go to a place on my site and I want PayPal to provide me with details so I can use PHP to parse it and email them the link to their purchase. I'm not sure what notify_url does? Thanks
I am developing a Flex application that will need to 'pull' information from an ERP system such as SAP or Peoplesoft via the clients web service.
My application will need to pass credentials & query to a Query_URL and receive the returned data. I saw a Flash Builder 4 presentation where the Adobe evangelist created a similar application using Twitter.
Insights or links to example code would be appreciated.
If we compare Windows and Web applications against following criteria
Insight of .NET and OS
Design Patterns
Logic development
Development of a fresher into a good developer
which one is better.
m.google.com somehow requests the current location when loaded in Android's browser.
I want to do the same thing from a web page being loaded into a WebView in my own application. Is the only way to go about this with WebView.addJavascriptInterface(), or is there already a javascript interface available for webapps to use?
What is the best way or recommended best practice in the flow of database driven asp.net web application? I mean the database first or coding first or side by side?
i got this SQL query where post_title taken from $_GET

What is the best way to sanitize this and make it more safe ?
How can I audit a web application specifically database changes, when the application is connecting to the database as a system account?
I would like to use a simple database trigger to write to an audit table but I am unsure of how I would be able to add the user that is logged on instead of the account that is actually doing the work.
I have read a few articles on identity flow but I do not fully understand the concept.
