  • Check if NSURL is Local File

    - by golfromeo
This is a pretty simple question- how can I check if a NSURL is linking to a local file? I know, RTFM, but I checked the documentation and I don't seem to see any methods related to this. The only methods I did find were -isFileReferenceURL and -isFileURL, but I think these only check if the URL directly links to a file. note: I'm making an iPhone app, so by "local file" I mean a .html file stored in the project's resources. Thanks for any help in advance.

  • What's the "revised syntax" in OCaml?

    - by aneccodeal
When people refer to the "revised syntax" in OCaml, do they mean that this will become a new syntax for the language, or is it just an alternative syntax created in CamlP4? If it's the former, then when does the "revised syntax" become the "official syntax" of OCaml?

  • Fast 4x4 matrix multiplication in Java with NIO float buffers

    - by kayahr
I know there are LOT of questions like that but I can't find one specific to my situation. I have 4x4 matrices implemented as NIO float buffers (These matrices are used for OpenGL). Now I want to implement a multiply method which multiplies Matrix A with Matrix B and stores the result in Matrix C. So the code may look like this: class Matrix4f { private FloatBuffer buffer = FloatBuffer.allocate(16); public Matrix4f multiply(Matrix4f matrix2, Matrix4f result) { {{{result = this * matrix2}}} <-- I need this code return result; } } What is the fastest possible code to do this multiplication? Some OpenGL implementations (Like the OpenGL ES stuff in Android) provide native code for this but others doesn't. So I want to provide a generic multiplication method for these implementations.

  • Lambda Expressions and Stored Procedures

    - by Jason Summers
Hi Everyone. I'm trying to mimic the LINQ Where extension method for my ADO.NET DAL methods. Bascially, my aim is to have a single method that I can call. Such as: Product p = Dal.GetProduct(x => x.ProductId == 32); Product p2 = Dal.GetProduct(x => x.ProductName.Contains("Soap")); I then want to dissect those Predicates and send the filter options to parameters in an ADO.NET Stored Procedure call. Any comments greatly appreciated.

  • How do I pass a reference type to Control.Invoke / display a form centered on the main form

    - by Rubio
I'm on a thread other than the UI thread and need to display a modal form that's centered on the application's main form. What I usually do is use the width and height of the main form and the modal form to calculate the location, then use the PointToScreen method of the main form to get the location of the modal form. Since I'm on another thread I need to use Control.Invoke to call this method. I just can't figure out how to pass a parameter of type Point to Control.Invoke (params object[]). Value types and String works fine. Or, if someone can find a better way to display a form centered on the main form regardless of thread, that would be great. MessageBox seems to be able to do this (although not modally).

  • Squeak - SUnit Testing for Errors

    - by Artium
I have been suggested to use should:rise in my test case to test for errors that a method might raise. For some reason it does not work as axpected, so I want to verify that I'm doing it right. Here is the code in the test case: self should: [aMyClass compareTo: 'This is a string'] raise: 'invalid input'. My compareTo/1 method looks like this: (aMyClass isKindOf: MyClass) ifFalse: [self error: 'invalid input'.]. The test runner output is that there is "1 errors". Thank you.

  • Checkstyle for Python

    - by oneself
Is there an application similar to Java's Checkstyle for Python? By which I mean, I tool that analyzes Python code, and can be run as part of continuous integration (e.g. CruiseControl or Hudson). After analyzing it should produce an online accessible report which outlines any problems found in the code. Thank you,

  • Is there any reason for an object pool to not be treated as a singleton?

    - by Chris Charabaruk
I don't necessarily mean implemented using the singleton pattern, but rather, only having and using one instance of a pool. I don't like the idea of having just one pool (or one per pooled type). However, I can't really come up with any concrete situations where there's an advantage to multiple pools for mutable types, at least not any where a single pool can function just as well. What advantages are there to having multiple pools over a singleton pool?

  • How can I make the C# compiler infer these type parameters automatically?

    - by John Feminella
I have some code that looks like the following. First I have some domain classes and some special comparators for them. public class Fruit { public int Calories { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } public class FruitEqualityComparer : IEqualityComparer<Fruit> { // ... } public class BasketEqualityComparer : IEqualityComparer<IEnumerable<Fruit>> { // ... } Next, I have a helper class called ConstraintChecker. It has a simple BaseEquals method that makes sure some simple base cases are considered: public static class ConstraintChecker { public static bool BaseEquals(T lhs, T rhs) { bool sameObject = l == r; bool leftNull = l == null; bool rightNull = r == null; return sameObject && !leftNull && !rightNull; } There's also a SemanticEquals method which is just a BaseEquals check and a comparator function that you specify. public static bool SemanticEquals<T>(T lhs, T rhs, Func<T, T, bool> f) { return BaseEquals(lhs, rhs) && f(lhs, rhs); } And finally there's a SemanticSequenceEquals method which accepts two IEnumerable<T> instances to compare, and an IEqualityComparer instance that will get called on each pair of elements in the list via Enumerable.SequenceEquals. public static bool SemanticSequenceEquals<T, U, V>(U lhs, U rhs, V comparator) where U : IEnumerable<T> where V : IEqualityComparer<T> { return SemanticEquals(lhs, rhs, (l, r) => lhs.SequenceEqual(rhs, comparator)); } } // end of ConstraintChecker The point of SemanticSequenceEquals is that you don't have to define two comparators whenever you want to compare both IEnumerable<T> and T instances; now you can just specify an IEqualityComparer<T> and it will also handle lists when you invoke SemanticSequenceEquals. So I could get rid of the BasketEqualityComparer class, which would be nice. But there's a problem. The C# compiler can't figure out the types involved when you invoke SemanticSequenceEquals: return ConstraintChecker.SemanticSequenceEquals(lhs, rhs, new FruitEqualityComparer()); If I specify them explicitly, it works: return ConstraintChecker.SemanticSequenceEquals< Fruit, IEnumerable<Fruit>, IEqualityComparer<Fruit> > (lhs, rhs, new FruitEqualityComparer()); What can I change here so that I don't have to write the type parameters explicitly?

  • Completion block not being called. How to check validity?

    - by HCHogan
I have this method which takes a block, but that block isn't always called. See the method: - (void)updateWithCompletion:(void (^)(void))completion { [MYObject myMethodWithCompletion:^(NSArray *array, NSError *error) { if (error) { NSLog(@"%s, ERROR not nil", __FUNCTION__); completion(); return; } NSLog(@"%s, calling completion %d", __FUNCTION__, &completion); completion(); NSLog(@"%s, finished completion", __FUNCTION__); }]; } I have some more NSLogs inside completion. Sometimes this program counter just blows right past the call to completion() in the code above. I don't see why this would be as the calling code always passes a literal block of code as input. If you're curious of the output of the line containing the addressof operator, it's always something different, but never 0 or nil. What would cause completion not to be executed?

  • C# LINQ Where Predicate Type Arguments

    - by blu
I have an XElement with values for mock data. I have an expression to query the xml: Expression<Func<XElement, bool>> simpleXmlFunction = b => int.Parse(b.Element("FooId").Value) == 12; used in: var simpleXml = xml.Elements("Foo").Where(simpleXmlFunction).First(); The design time error is: The type arguments for method 'System.Linq.Enumerable.Where(System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable, System.Func)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly' The delegate supplied to Where should take in an XElement and return a bool, marking if the item matches the query, I am not sure how to add anything more to the delegate or the where clause to mark the type. Also, the parallel method for the real function against the Entity Framework does not have this issue. What is not correct with the LINQ-to-XML version?

  • java.io.IOException: Invalid argument

    - by Luixv
Hi I have a web application running in cluster mode with a load balancer. It consists in two tomcats (T1, and T2) addressing only one DB. T2 is nfs mounted to T1. This is the only dofference between both nodes. I have a java method generating some files. If the request runs on T1 there is no problem but if the request is running on node 2 I get an exception as follows: java.io.IOException: Invalid argument at java.io.FileOutputStream.close0(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.close(FileOutputStream.java:279) The corresponding code is as follows: for (int i = 0; i < dataFileList.size(); i++) { outputFileName = outputFolder + fileNameList.get(i); FileOutputStream fileOut = new FileOutputStream(outputFileName); fileOut.write(dataFileList.get(i), 0, dataFileList.get(i).length); fileOut.flush(); fileOut.close(); } The exception appears at the fileOut.close() Any hint? • I can create a cookie, but can't delete it from my iPhone app

    - by squeezemylime
    I am creating an iPhone app, and am using this method to create a cookie that will be accessed site-wide: NSMutableDictionary *cookieDictionary = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithCapacity:4]; [cookieDictionary setObject:@"status" forKey:NSHTTPCookieName]; [cookieDictionary setObject:[self.usernameField text] forKey:NSHTTPCookieValue]; [cookieDictionary setObject:@"http://www.mydomain.com" forKey:NSHTTPCookieDomain]; [cookieDictionary setObject:@"/" forKey:NSHTTPCookiePath]; // Build the cookie. NSHTTPCookie *cookie = [NSHTTPCookie cookieWithProperties:cookieDictionary]; // Store the cookie. [[NSHTTPCookieStorage sharedHTTPCookieStorage] setCookie:cookie]; // Log the Cookie and display it for (cookie in [[NSHTTPCookieStorage sharedHTTPCookieStorage] cookies]) { NSLog(@"%@", cookie.value); } Now I am trying to delete it via the following method, but it isn't working, and the documentation isn't quite helping me: NSHTTPCookieStorage* cookieStorage = [NSHTTPCookieStorage sharedHTTPCookieStorage]; NSArray* theCookies = [cookieStorage cookiesForURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://mydomain.com"]]; for (NSHTTPCookie *cookie in theCookies) { [cookieStorage deleteCookie:cookie]; }

  • Function matching in Qt

    - by Alexander
Hello, I have some trouble with Qt. I have a class 'Core' class Core { public: static QString get_file_content(QString filename); static void setMainwindow(MainWindow *w); private: static MainWindow *main_window; }; and class 'MainWindow' in namespace Ui: namespace Ui { class MainWindow; } class MainWindow : public QMainWindow { Q_OBJECT public: MainWindow(QWidget *parent = 0); ~MainWindow(); private: Ui::MainWindow *ui; }; In MainWindow constructor I make MainWindow::MainWindow(QWidget *parent) : QMainWindow(parent), ui(new Ui::MainWindow) { ui->setupUi(this); Core::setMainwindow(this); } and gets error mainwindow.cpp:8: error: no matching function for call to 'Core::setMainwindow(MainWindow* const)' Of cource, i include core.h with declaration of 'Core' class. That's occurs only on setMainwindow method. So the questions is - why Core class method setMainwindow() is invisible in MainWindow class?

  • Mixing JQuery Ajax with ASP.NET : is there any security risk

    - by Sayem Ahmed
I am using jQuery with ASP.NET in a project. Instead of using ASP.NET Ajax, I am using jquery's ajax functions. Is there any security risk if I do that? I mean, since I am using jquery's ajax calls, no view state information will be passed to the server so that it can verify the page's authenticity (though it saves a lot of bandwidth..). I would also like to know what is the best/good practice here.

  • Blending Background for Polar Distortion in GIMP

    - by Chris S
I followed a tutorial to perform a polar distortion on a panoramic image. The instructions are geared for Photoshop but seem to mostly apply to GIMP as well. The only thing I couldn't really figure out was how they were able to automatically fill in the area around the circle by "extending" the border of the circle. e.g. In GIMP, performing the polar distortion leaves a black white canvas around the circle, not the attractive blended background shown in the tutorial. Is there an easy way to implement this? The only way I found was to reserve half of the "square" as blank canvas and then manually copy the image's top row of pixels over this empty portion. Then, after the polar distortion, I crop out the extra area. Although this achieves the effect, it seems a bit awkward. How do you stretch selections? Ideally, I just want to select the top row and stretch it vertically until it fills in half of the canvas. Instead I had to manaully copy, paste, translate, etc.

  • Cannot loop through Excel 2003 files in SSIS 2008

    - by Techspirit
Hi, I am trying to execute a SSIS 2008 package on a 64-bit OS and import Excel 2003 files to SQL Server 2008. I have created an OLEDB Connection to the Excel file with a Connection String that retrieves the Excel file from a variable, inside the ForEach Loop Container. The Run64BitRunTime is set to false. I am not able to edit the SQL Command on the OLEDB Source in the Data Flow task. It returns an error : Error 2 Validation error. Load List Staged Table: Load List Staged Table: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "List OLEDB to Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. 0 0 Appreciate any help.

  • Using DateDiff in Entity Framwork on a SQL CE database

I have a method which should return a list of anonymous objects with a calculated column like this: var tomorrow = DateTime.Today.AddDays(1); return from t in this.Events where (t.StartTime >= DateTime.Today && t.StartTime < tomorrow && t.EndTime.HasValue) select new { Client = t.Activity.Project.Customer.Name, Project = t.Activity.Project.Name, Task = t.Activity.Task.Name, Rate = t.Activity.Rate.Name, StartTime = t.StartTime, EndTime = t.EndTime.Value, Hours = (System.Data.Objects.SqlClient.SqlFunctions.DateDiff("m", t.StartTime, t.EndTime.Value) / 60), Description = t.Activity.Description }; Unfortunately I get the following error from the DateDiff function: The specified method 'System.Nullable1[System.Int32] DateDiff(System.String, System.Nullable1[System.DateTime], System.Nullable`1[System.DateTime])' on the type 'System.Data.Objects.SqlClient.SqlFunctions' cannot be translated into a LINQ to Entities store expression. Any ideas what I could have done wrong here? EDIT: I also tried the EntityFunctions class mentioned here, but that did not work as well. Minutes = EntityFunctions.DiffMinutes(t.EndTime, t.StartTime),
