  • Prevent IE caching

    - by Parhs
I am developing a Java EE web application using Struts. The problem is with Internet Explorer caching. If an user logs out he can access some pages because they are cached and no request is made. If I hit refresh it works fine. Also if an user goes to login page again it won't redirect him because that page is also cached. Two solutions come to my mind: Writing an Interceptor (servlet filter like) to add to response header no-cache etc. Or or put <meta> tags at each page. Which one should I do?

  • Allowing threads from python after calling a blocking i/o code in a python extension generated using

    - by SS
I have written a python extension wrapping an existing C++ library live555 (wrapping RTSP client interface to be specific) in SWIG. The extension works when it is operated in a single thread, but as soon as I call the event loop function of the library, python interpreter never gets the control back. So if I create a scheduled task using threading.Timer right before calling the event loop, that task never gets executed once event loop starts. To fix this issue, I added Py_BEGIN_ALLOW_THREADS and Py_END_ALLOW_THREADS macros manually in the SWIG auto generated wrapper cxx file around every doEventLoop() function call. But now, I want to do the same (i.e. allow threads) when SWIG generates the code itself and not to change any code manually. Has anyone done something similar in SWIG? P.S. - I would also consider switching to any other framework (like SIP) to get this working. I selected SWIG over any other technology is because writing SWIG interface was really very easy and I just had to include the existing header files.

  • How to simplify this Xpath expression ?

    - by Stephan
Hi , I have the following XML code : <root> <a><l_desc/></a> <b><l_desc>foo</l_desc></b> <c><l_desc>bar</l_desc></c> </root> I want to match the l_desc nodes with a or b nodes as parent. For now, i use this xpath expression : //a/l_desc/.. | //b/l_desc/.. I would prefer writing something like this : //(a|b)/l_desc/.. Unfortunately, this expression is invalid. Do you have any idea for reducing the first expression ? Stéphan

  • How to rewrite the URL

    - by Kalpana
I have a small application built using Seam 2.2, Richfaces 3.3, JBoss 5.1. Most of the page navigation adds the request parameters to the target URL. I would like to hide parameters to be hidden to the customer who is using the application (e.g. I would expect the URL to be something like "http://localhost:8080/books/Book.seam". The parameters (userId, orderId and cmId) are currently mapped to the backend bean via Book.page.xml. How do I prevent the request parameters from showing up in the browser URL, as it also allows the customer to manipulate the URL. We did look at seam URL re-writing feature, it talked about manipulating say the primary key id in a REST format, not sure how to accomplish something more complex like the above use case in a elegant fashion.

  • Fixing warning from git

    - by japancheese
I've been doing a workflow of making a git repository on a remote central repository, cloning that repo on my local dev machine, doing some work, and then pushing the changes back to the same repo on the remote server. However, and I believe this was after an update I did to git recently, after pushing up a change, I'm getting the following warning: Counting objects: 2724, done. Delta compression using up to 2 threads. Compressing objects: 100% (2666/2666), done. Writing objects: 100% (2723/2723), 5.90 MiB | 313 KiB/s, done. Total 2723 (delta 219), reused 0 (delta 0) warning: updating the currently checked out branch; this may cause confusion, as the index and working tree do not reflect changes that are now in HEAD. Can someone explain to me exactly what this warning means, and what I'm doing wrong in my workflow to not receive this warning?

  • When does printf("%s", char*) stop printing?

    - by remagen
In my class we are writing our own copy of C's malloc() function. To test my code (which can currently allocate space fine) I was using: char* ptr = my_malloc(6*sizeof(char)); memcpy(ptr, "Hello\n", 6*sizeof(char)); printf("%s", ptr); The output would typically be this: Hello Unprintable character Some debugging figured that my code wasn't causing this per say, as ptr's memory is as follows: [24 bytes of meta info][Number of requested bytes][Padding] So I figured that printf was reaching into the padding, which is just garbage. So I ran a test of: printf("%s", "test\nd"); and got: test d Which makes me wonder, when DOES printf("%s", char*) stop printing chars?

  • Flash FLVPlayback states

    - by rob5408
I'm writing my own class to manage a skin for an FLVPlayback component. It works 90% of the time, but sometimes the state get really messed up. Specifically, the video is playing, meaning I can see it play and the VideoEvent.PLAYHEAD_UPDATE event is firing, but when I poll the FLVPlayback component about its playing property, it returns false. I assume this may be because 'buffering' is kind of a subset of 'playing', but I cannot confirm this in the documentation. I guess another way to ask this question is, "Does the FLVPlayback component ever buffer while it is in a stopped state?"

  • Office Automation Libraries

    - by Ian
Some time ago I posted about a question about reading Excel files as a server process, to get around the tighter restrictions Microsoft have been applying on Office Automation. I now need to extend this, by finding methods/libraries to read other sorts of Office files in an automated way on a server. The applications I'm interested in are Word, Powerpoint, Project and to a lesser extent Word and Visio. I need to be able to support 97-2003 office files, and the newer open xml formats (e.g. xlsx, docx) at a very least. With regards to Word integration, I also need to be able to handle writing/reading RTF text. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be pleased to hear them. Thanks

  • More specific NSNumberFormatter failure behaviour

    - by Volte
I have an NSTextField into which I need the user to enter a number between a max and min, and it would be nice if I could detect when the NSNumberFormatter fails that particular test so I can either display a nicer message ("The number is too large" is not very helpful, it needs to display the valid range) or simply set the field automatically to the nearest valid value. I've looked at the NSTextField delegate's -control:didFailToFormatString:errorDescription: method which doesn't seem to allow you to modify the error, and I've looked at overriding the NSNumberFormatter's -getObjectValue:forString:range:error: method which does give me an NSError that I can modify, but there doesn't seem to be any way to determine which specific error was returned. Since I am just entering a simple integer, I don't need most of the functionality in NSNumberFormatter, would I be better off just writing my own formatter from scratch?

  • How to get the last key pressed on Mac ?

    - by Dheeraj
Hi All, I'm writing a plugin for an application. I cannot derive from NSApplication as it is a third party application. I can get the callback in my plugin when any key is pressed. But I will not know what key is pressed. So is there any call in Cocoa to find the last key pressed when I get the callback? I only have NSView object. Any ideas will help me a lot. Thanks, Dheeraj.

  • willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation not called in root view controller

    - by pJosh
I have created the one rootviewcontroller , and then make that geosensitive by writing - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } In rootviewcontroller willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation method is called and images are resizing. I also have some views on it, but when I rotate the screen the view will be rotate but the images are not resizing though I have used the same -(void)willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration { UIInterfaceOrientation toOrientation = self.interfaceOrientation; } method but it cannot called. So, what can I do? Please help me.

  • Next step for Python app using Sqlite db

    - by ChrisC
I want to write a db program in Python using Sqlite. I have the db table structure planned, and am ready to move to the next step, which I think is to work any bugs out of the db structure. I am totally inexperienced in development except for writing the original db (written in MS Access), and an Intro to C++ class (OOP concepts and console C++ programs). Is it time to test the db structure? If so, what's the best way, and what tool(s) should I use? Thank you.

  • Working with arrays of lists pattern in java

    - by Mad Wombat
I am writing a card game in java where I need to spread cards from a deck into several columns until I have fixed amount of cards left. This is how I do this. public class Column extends ArrayList {} List deck = Cards.createNewDeck(); Column[] columns = new Column[10]; int c = 0; while (deck.size() 50) { if (c == 10) { c = 0; } if (columns[c] == null) { columns[c] = new Column(); } columns[c].add(Cards.dealTopCard(deck)); c += 1; } This somehow seems clunky. Is there a more readable/comprehensive way of doing the same thing?

  • segfault during fclose()

    - by Hristo
fclose() is causing a segfault. I have : char buffer[L_tmpnam]; char *pipeName = tmpnam(buffer); FILE *pipeFD = fopen(pipeName, "w"); // open for writing ... ... ... fclose(pipeFD); I don't do any file related stuff in the ... yet so that doesn't affect it. However, my MAIN process communicates with another process through shared memory where pipeName is stored; the other process fopen's this pipe for reading to communicated with MAIN. Any ideas why this is causing a segfault? Thanks, Hristo

  • What language is to binary, as Perl is to text?

    - by ehdr
I am looking for a scripting (or higher level programming) language (or e.g. modules for Python or similar languages) for effortlessly analyzing and manipulating binary data in files (e.g. core dumps), much like Perl allows manipulating text files very smoothly. Things I want to do include presenting arbitrary chunks of the data in various forms (binary, decimal, hex), convert data from one endianess to another, etc. That is, things you normally would use C or assembly for, but I'm looking for a language which allows for writing tiny pieces of code for highly specific, one-time purposes very quickly. Any suggestions?

  • windows I/O manager - IRP's classification in read-like and write-like

    - by clyfe
    I am writing a windows filesystem minifilter driver that must fail IRP's in a preoperation callback. How can I find out from the callback parameters if the operation is read-like ( only reads data ) or it's write-like ( modifies data on the disk - write, delete etc ) ? I'm thinking on: Data->Iopb->TargetFileObject->ReadAccess Data->Iopb->TargetFileObject->WriteAccess But I'm not sure, I think thees are available only in postoperation callback. The documentation is really cumbersome. Code sample: FLT_PREOP_CALLBACK_STATUS Fail ( __inout PFLT_CALLBACK_DATA Data, __in PCFLT_RELATED_OBJECTS FltObjects, __deref_out_opt PVOID *CompletionContext ) { FLT_PREOP_CALLBACK_STATUS status = FLT_PREOP_SUCCESS_NO_CALLBACK; if ( IS WRITE_LIKE(Data, FltObjects) ) { // ??? HOW DO I FIND OUT???? if( FLT_IS_FASTIO_OPERATION(Data) ){ status = FLT_PREOP_DISALLOW_FASTIO; } else { status = FLT_PREOP_COMPLETE; } Data->IoStatus.Status = STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED; Data->IoStatus.Information = 0; return status; } return status; }

  • VS2012 equivalent of Eclipse's default Ctrl-Shift-O?

    - by x3chaos
I'm used to Java (in Eclipse), which has its import statements, but I'm writing a DLL in Visual C# (in Visual Studio 2012), which has its using statements. I'm used to Eclipse's default keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-O, which updates the list of import statements in the Java perspective, deleting unused imports and adding necessary imports found on the build path. Is there an equivalent operation in VS2012 with VC#? I've just been selecting the word, opening the Office-style popup, and added the "using" statement that way, but it conflicts with my workflow (read: I'm lazy and I like having my shortcuts).

  • Entity Framework v4 examples and tutorials of conceptual model mapping

    - by Rody van Sambeek
In an application I'm writing I have a fairly complicated Database model. I'd like to use EF4 to map this to a whole lot nicer conceptual model. However all the tutorials I've read are with samples of 2 or 3 tables which all map 1 on 1 to the conceptual model. I'd like to learn how to correctly map the database model to a different conceptual model using VS 2010. However I can't find any good tutorials or (preferabally) instruction video's. Somebody got any tips, links or even books?

  • Update gridview from code behind in asp.net

    - by Zerotoinfinite
Hi Experts, I have gridview in my asp.net 3.5 application [C#]. Which looks like this: AutoGenerateDeleteButton="true" DataKeyNames="studentId" runat="server" OnRowEditing="GridView1_RowEditing" OnRowCancelingEdit="GridView1_RowCancelingEdit" OnRowDeleting="GridView1_RowDeleting" OnRowUpdating="GridView1_RowUpdating" onpageindexchanging="GridView1_PageIndexChanging" onrowupdated="GridView1_RowUpdated" <EmptyDataTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblNoRecord" runat="server" Text="No Record Found" ForeColor="Red"></asp:Label> </EmptyDataTemplate> </asp:GridView> Now, In rowUpdating event, I am writing the below code: protected void GridView1_RowUpdating(object sender, GridViewUpdateEventArgs e) { int mytext = Convert.ToInt16(GridView1.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells[1].Text); string cConatiner = GridView1.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells[4].Text; } In this, myText is giving me the correct value, i.e. of the 1st column but when I am changing the cell value to 1,2,3,4,5,6 I am getting empty. Am I doing it incorrectly ? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

  • PostScript versus PDF as an output format

    - by Brecht Machiels
I'm currently writing a typesetting application and I'm using PSG as the backend for producing postscript files. I'm now wondering whether that choice makes sense. It seems the ReportLab Toolkit offers all the features PSG offers, and more. ReportLab outputs PDF however. Advantages PDF offers: transparancy better support for character encodings (Unicode, for example) ability to embed TrueType and even OpenType fonts hyperlinks and bookmarks Is there any reason to use Postscript instead of directly outputting to PDF? While Postscript is a full programming language as opposed to PDF, as a basic output format for documents, that doesn't seem to offer any advantage. I assume a PDF can be readily converted to PostScript for printing? Some useful links: Wikipedia: PDF Adobe: PostScript vs. PDF

  • What's the best self-tracking software for Linux?

    - by trench
I'm looking for a way to track myself and receive quality data upon which I can write future scripts/programs. For example, I use Google Reader a lot. I'd like to track the hrefs that garner my clicks. Further, I'd like to drop all of the words of each href into a database where they can be stacked in a hierarchical manner. At the end of the week I want to know that "Ubuntu" garnered 448 clicks and "Cheetos" garnered 2. :) That's just one example... I'd like this tracking and data-collecting to extend beyond my browser. I know writing something to do this myself wouldn't be too awfully difficult but if something already exists I'd happily use it. Thanks in advance. Primary OS: Ubuntu 10.04

  • Keyboard input for a game in Java

    - by hmp
I'm writing a game in Java, right now it's Swing + JOGL - a JFrame with a GLCanvas. I handle input using keyPressed etc. events (jframe.addKeyListener(...)) and it doesn't seem to work properly: when I have 3+ keys down at the same time, they don't register properly after the window loses, then regains focus, input stops working completely... What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way of handling keyboard input in Java? (I'd rather not switch to another library, like LWJGL... unless I have no choice).

  • Python code formatting

    - by Curious2learn
In response to another question of mine, someone suggested that I avoid long lines in the code and to use PEP-8 rules when writing Python code. One of the PEP-8 rules suggested avoiding lines which are longer than 80 characters. I changed a lot of my code to comply with this requirement without any problems. However, changing the following line in the manner shown below breaks the code. Any ideas why? Does it have to do with the fact that what follows return command has to be in a single line? The line longer that 80 characters: def __str__(self): return "Car Type \n"+"mpg: %.1f \n" % self.mpg + "hp: %.2f \n" %(self.hp) + "pc: %i \n" %self.pc + "unit cost: $%.2f \n" %(self.cost) + "price: $%.2f "%(self.price) The line changed by using Enter key and Spaces as necessary: def __str__(self): return "Car Type \n"+"mpg: %.1f \n" % self.mpg + "hp: %.2f \n" %(self.hp) + "pc: %i \n" %self.pc + "unit cost: $%.2f \n" %(self.cost) + "price: $%.2f "%(self.price)
