  • Changing the style attribute of a button according to its state

    - by LambergaR
I know you can change buttons background by creating a simple XML file, like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <item android:state_window_focused="false" android:state_enabled="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_normal" /> <!-- ... --> </selection> I was wondering if it is possible to use a similar approach to change the style attribute of an element using the same (or similar) technique. Or, if that is not possible, how can the style attribute be changed during runtime (there is no such thing as button.setStyle(R.style.button)).

  • Convert Google Analytics cookies to Local/Session Storage

    - by David Murdoch
Google Analytics sets 4 cookies that will be sent with all requests to that domain (and ofset its subdomains). From what I can tell no server actually uses them directly; they're only sent with __utm.gif as a query param. Now, obviously Google Analytics reads, writes and acts on their values and they will need to be available to the GA tracking script. So, what I am wondering is if it is possible to: rewrite the __utm* cookies to local storage after ga.js has written them delete them after ga.js has run rewrite the cookies FROM local storage back to cookie form right before ga.js reads them start over Or, monkey patch ga.js to use local storage before it begins the cookie read/write part. Obviously if we are going so far out of the way to remove the __utm* cookies we'll want to also use the Async variant of Analytics. I'm guessing the down vote was because I didn't ask a question. DOH! My questions are: Can it be done as described above? If so, why hasn't it been done? I have a default HTML/CSS/JS boilerplate template that passes YSlow, PageSpeed, and Chrome's Audit with near perfect scores. I'm really looking for a way to squeeze those remaining cookie bytes from Google Analytics in browsers that support local storage.

  • What is the difference between "LINQ to Entities", "LINQ to SQL" and "LINQ to Dataset".

    - by Marcel
I've been working for quite a while now with LINQ. However, it remains a bit of a mystery what the real differences are between the mentioned flavours of LINQ. The successful answer will contain a short differentiation between them. What is the main goal of each flavor, what is the benefit, and is there a performance impact... P.S. I know that there are a lot of information sources out there, but I'm looking for a kind of a "cheat sheet" which instructs a newbie where to head for a specific goal.

  • SSRS Errors "Use Local", even though I am

    - by Corey Coogan
I am at a loss. I posted this on SO, but think this is probably a better place. I have searched high and low and don't know what to do. I am running SQL Server Web Edition on Server 2008, which only supports local databases. I am trying to connect to localhost, but when I test my connection, I get this error. The feature: "The edition of Reporting Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database." is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. The DB was upgraded from SQL Express and when I select @@version, it says it's Web Edition. I've tried rebooting and that seemed to fix it, but only for a little while.

  • How do you hook a C++ compiled dll function to a sql database?

    - by Thomas
I want to do something like: lastName SIMILARTO(lastName, 'Schwarseneger', 2) where lastName is the field in the database, 'Schwarseneger' is the value that lastName field is being compared to and 2 is the maximum number of characters (edit distance) that can differ between the lastName field, and the entered value. I can implement the SIMILARTO function in C++ using the Levenshtein distance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levenshtein_distance), but how do hook the function in a dll to a mySQL implementation?

  • SQL Management Studio is painfully slow on 32-bit Windows 7

    - by Sergei
I've been having issues running anything in SQL Management Studio on Win 7. Basically, doing anything through the Management Studio interfaces completely freezes it up for a few minutes. Running a query is nearly impossible because it takes nearly 2 minutes just for the IDE to parse it and another minute to run it when the query itself completes instantaneously outside of the IDE. I'm not even going to go into the query designer. Anything with heavy user interaction such as editing a row in the result set where i have to click a cell freezes up the front-end. I tried reinstalling to no avail. Also tried running in compatibility mode without any difference whatsoever. Anybody had a similar experience? I'm running SQL Management Studio 2008 version 10.0.2531.0 on 32-bit Windows 7. Connecting to a remote SQL Server instance (2008 R2). Thanks.

  • How do I create a SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services Template to a Default Font?

    - by David Stein
I'm creating a new template to create reports from at a later date. I know how to create one, and I know where to save it. However, the problem is this. Everything that is created on the report uses the default font of Arial with a size of 10pt. I need to set mine to default to Tahoma 11pt. I can create a mock title, mock tables, etc and save those to Tahoma 11pt, but any new controls that are used on any version of this report will default back to Arial 10pt. How do I fix this?

  • is there a tool to see the difference between two database tables in SQL Server?

    - by reinier
What is a good tool to see the differences between 2 tables (or even better, the datasets returned by 2 queries). EDIT: I'm not interested in the schema changes. Just assume that the schemas are the same. background as to why: I'm porting some legacy code which can fill a database with some pre-calced data. The easiest way to see if I got everything right, is to check the output of the old program, with the new one. I was thinking that if there is some kind of 'diff' tool for databases, this might be great.

  • How to grant permissions to single SELECT/UPDATE statment (sql server) ?

    - by Albert
I have a problem when trying to execute this update statement (below) using C# SqlCommand when I execute it locally it works fine, but when deployed to another machine I got a permission error The SELECT permission was denied on the object Order ... The UPDATE permission was denied on the object Order ... Update Statement "UPDATE Order SET Request = @request WHERE Id = @ID"; Is there any way to add GRANT SELECT and GRANT UPDATE to a single statement like the update above without using a stored procedure? or the SP is the way to go on this? Thanks in advance

  • What's the most DRY-appropriate way to execute an SQL command?

    - by Sean U
I'm looking to figure out the best way to execute a database query using the least amount of boilerplate code. The method suggested in the SqlCommand documentation: private static void ReadOrderData(string connectionString) { string queryString = "SELECT OrderID, CustomerID FROM dbo.Orders;"; using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString)) { SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(queryString, connection); connection.Open(); SqlDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(); try { while (reader.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("{0}, {1}", reader[0], reader[1])); } } finally { reader.Close(); } } } mostly consists of code that would have to be repeated in every method that interacts with the database. I'm already in the habit of factoring out the establishment of a connection, which would yield code more like the following. (I'm also modifying it so that it returns data, in order to make the example a bit less trivial.) private SQLConnection CreateConnection() { var connection = new SqlConnection(_connectionString); connection.Open(); return connection; } private List<int> ReadOrderData() { using(var connection = CreateConnection()) using(var command = connection.CreateCommand()) { command.CommandText = "SELECT OrderID FROM dbo.Orders;"; using(var reader = command.ExecuteReader()) { var results = new List<int>(); while(reader.Read()) results.Add(reader.GetInt32(0)); return results; } } } That's an improvement, but there's still enough boilerplate to nag at me. Can this be reduced further? In particular, I'd like to do something about the first two lines of the procedure. I don't feel like the method should be in charge of creating the SqlCommand. It's a tiny piece of repetition as it is in the example, but it seems to grow if transactions are being managed manually or timeouts are being altered or anything like that.

  • MVC Model State

    - by gnome
Greetings On all my controllers I recycle the same code that wraps my models and to accesses the service layer -- and I'm tired for copy / pasting it into each controller: private IProjectService _service; public New() { _service = new ProjectService(new ModelValidation(this.ModelState)); } public New(IProjectService service) { _service = service; } Is there someplace where I can place this where all my controllers access it?

  • Detecting GWT RichTextArea 'dirty' state

    - by David
I want to detect when the contents of my GWT RichTextArea become 'dirty' (have been changed by the user) in order to enable a 'save' button accordingly. I suppose I could listen for key presses that are likely to have changed the contents; but browser support for key presses is notoriously quirky. I suppose I could, before editing begins, save the original contents in a variable, and upon key press, compare the current contents against that variable, but doing that on each key press is going to be really slow. Is there some neat way to achieve RichTextArea dirty-detection?

  • Java: InitialContext.lookup(String) - what should the value o the parametr be?

    - by bguiz
To instantiate a Stateful Session Bean inside of a JSP/ servlet, I am using: InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(); SomeStateful state = (SomeStateful) ic.lookup("java:comp/env/SomeStatefulBean"); Trial and error had me prefix the name of my EJB with java:comp/env/, so the above works (on Glassfish 2.1). However I want to know what the proper way to obtain this prefix is. Is there a CLI tool or function somewhere in the admin panel that will allow we to examine/ alter this? Is this platform/ application server dependant? Is there a setting within my ear, EJB-jar or war which I can examine or alter for this? (Forgive the beginner question) Thanks!

  • Get the count of items in a GroupBy Linq-to-sql Query?

    - by Curtis White
I have a groupby that I groups all elements. I can see the items are there in LinqPad but can't find a way to get the count. Here is what I have so far: SurveyResponses.Where( q = q.QuestionId == 4).GroupBy(q = q.AnswerNumeric).Where( g = g.Key == 1) In Linq Pad I can see there are 4 items in this query. If I do Count it returns 1. I've tried, ToList().Count, Select(x = x).Count, etc.

  • How to handle Application_BeginRequest using a custom filter in asp.net mvc?

    - by denis_n
    How to handle Application_BeginRequest using a custom filter in asp.net mvc? I want to restore session only for one route (~/my-url). I would be cool, if I could create a custom filter and handle that. protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { var context = HttpContext.Current; if (string.Equals("~/my-url", context.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase)) { string sessionId = context.Request.Form["sessionId"]; if (sessionId != null) { HttpCookie cookie = context.Request.Cookies.Get("ASP.NET_SessionId"); if (cookie == null) { cookie = new HttpCookie("ASP.NET_SessionId"); } cookie.Value = sessionId; context.Request.Cookies.Set(cookie); } }

  • How to signal a buffer full state between posix threads

    - by mikip
Hi I have two threads, the main thread 'A' is responsible for message handling between a number of processes. When thread A gets a buffer full message, it should inform thread B and pass a pointer to the buffer which thread B will then process. When thread B has finished it should inform thread A that it has finished. How do I go about implementing this using posix threads using C on linux. I have looked at conditional variables, is this the way to go? . I'm not experienced in multi threaded programming and would like some advice on the best avenue to take. Thanks

  • SQL Server: Primary Key Schema Largely Guid but Sometimes Integer Types...

    - by Code Sherpa
OK, this may be a silly question but... I have inherited a project and am tasked with going over the primary key relationships. The project largely uses Guids. I say "largely" because there are examples where tables use integral types to reflect enumerations. For example, dbo.MessageFolder has MessageFolderId of type int to reflect public emum MessageFolderTypes { inbox = 1, sent = 2, trash = 3, etc... } This happens a lot. There are tables with primary keys of type int which is unavoidable because of their reliance on enumerations and tables with primary keys of type Guid which reflect the primary key choice on the part of the previous programmer. Should I care that the PK schema is spotty like this? It doesn't feel right but does it really matter? If this could create a problem, how do I get around it (I really can't move all PKs to type int without serious legwork and I have never heard of enumerations that have guid values)? Thanks.

  • JQuery checkbox state is updated differently between group click() and $.each(obj.click())

    - by teerapap
    The code below doesn't work in the same behavior. The sequence of click event and calling foo() is different. I want to know why they behave different sequence between call click() and iterate the objects before call click() on each. <script type="text/javascript"> function foo(obj){ alert(obj.id+" ->"+obj.checked); } function clickAll(val){ if (val) { $(":checkbox").click(); } else { $(":checkbox").each(function(i,obj){ obj.click(); }); } } </script> </head> <body> <input type="checkbox" id="check1" onclick="foo(this)" /> a <input type="checkbox" id="check2" onclick="foo(this)" /> b <input type="checkbox" id="check3" onclick="foo(this)" /> c <input type="button" onclick="clickAll(true)" value="click all" /> <input type="button" onclick="clickAll(false)" value="click all each" /> </body>
