  • .NET C# Explicit implementation of grandparent's interface method in the parent interface

    - by Cristi Diaconescu
That title's a mouthful, isn't it?... Here's what I'm trying to do: public interface IBar { void Bar(); } public interface IFoo: IBar { void Foo(); } public class FooImpl: IFoo { void IFoo.Foo() { /*works as expected*/ } //void IFoo.Bar() { /*i'd like to do this, but it doesn't compile*/ } void IBar.Bar() { /*works as expected*/ } } So... Is there a way to declare IFoo.Bar(){...} in my class, other than basically merging the two interfaces into one? And, if not, why?

  • ASP.NET: Turning on errors

    - by JamesBrownIsDead
This is what I see when I visit my web site. How do I instead get the Yellow Screen of Death so I know what the error is? I have GoDaddy shared hosting and I think the problem is that I don't have the correct MVC binaries in the /bin folder. My web.config shows this: <add assembly="System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> <add assembly="System.Web.Abstractions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> <add assembly="System.Web.Routing, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> But I'm not positive I copied the right .DLL files into /bin. I've got like 8 of each file--which version is which?!

  • .NET threading question

    - by MusiGenesis
Is there any essential difference between this code: ThreadStart starter = new ThreadStart(SomeMethod); starter.Invoke(); and this? ThreadStart starter = new ThreadStart(SomeMethod); Thread th = new Thread(starter); th.Start(); Or does the first invoke the method on the current thread while the second invokes it on a new thread?

  • ASP.Net Problem with Event Handlers and Control Creation Timing

    - by Oliver Weichhold
What I am trying to achieve here is to display a number of LinkButtons in a RadGrid Column. The buttons are generated from a collection property member of the bound grid row item. The CollectionLinkButton control is nothing more than a asp:Panel derived control that populates its Child Controls from "DataItem.SomeCollection" and this is working fine. The problem I am facing is with this part: Collection='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container, "DataItem.SomeCollection") %' This is because databound Collection Property is populated so late in the lifecycle of the page that the LinkButton Controls that the CollectionLinkButton class creates from the collection are not available yet during Postback when the Click event Handler is supposed to fire and I have currently no idea how to solve this problem. <radG:RadGrid ID="grid" runat="server" DataSourceID="ds_AB"> <MasterTableView> <Columns> <radG:GridTemplateColumn> <ItemTemplate> <local:CollectionLinkButton ID="LinkButton1" runat="server" CssClass="EntityLinkButton" Collection='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container, "DataItem.SomeCollection") %>' CollectionProperty="Id" CollectionDisplayProperty="Name" Text='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container, "DataItem.Name") %>'</local:CollectionLinkButton> </ItemTemplate> </radG:GridTemplateColumn>

  • Advanced ASP.NET Gridview Layout

    - by chief7
So i had a feature request to add fields to a second table row for a single data row on a GridView. At first, I looked at extending the functionality of the GridView but soon realized this would be a huge task and since I consider this request a shim for a larger future feature decided against it. Also want to move to MVC in the near future and this would be throw away code. So instead I created a little jquery script to move the cell to the next row in the table. $(document).ready(function() { $(".fieldAttributesNextRow").each(function() { var parent = $(this).parent(); var newRow = $("<tr></tr>"); newRow.attr("class", $(parent).attr("class")); var headerRow = $(parent).parent().find(":first"); var cellCount = headerRow.children().length - headerRow.children().find(".hide").length; newRow.append($(this).attr("colspan", cellCount)); $(parent).after(newRow); }) }); What do you think of this? Is this a poor design decision? I am actually quite pleased with the ease of this solution. Please provide your thoughts.

  • ASP.Net radio button list

    - by c11ada
hey all im trying to create a feedback form, i have a some mock code which looks similar to this for (int i = 1; i < 3; i++) { TableRow tr = new TableRow(); Table1.Rows.Add(tr); TableCell QuestionCell = new TableCell(); // get the text for the question and stick it in the cell QuestionCell.Text = "<b>"+i+".</b> Question " + i; tr.Cells.Add(QuestionCell); TableRow tr2 = new TableRow(); Table1.Rows.Add(tr2); // create a cell for the choice TableCell ChoicesCell = new TableCell(); ChoicesCell.Width = 1000; // align the choices on the left ChoicesCell.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Left; tr2.Cells.Add(ChoicesCell); RadioButtonList rbl = new RadioButtonList(); rbl.ID = "Radio1_" + i; ChoicesCell.Controls.Add(rbl); rbl.Items.Add("1"); rbl.Items.Add("2"); rbl.Items.Add("3"); rbl.Items.Add("4"); } obviously this code doesn't mean anything, its just to experiment on how i can do this feedback form, the problem im having now is once some one presses the submit button (there's a submit button on the form) how do i go through the table and get text from the radio buttons the user has selected ?? the feedback from in created on page_load !! thanks for any help !!

  • Sending email via GMail in .NET

    - by VP
I am getting the following error when I try to send an email in my C# program. I am using Visual Studio 2008 on windows 7. I would paste my code first and then the error: class email_log_files { private string login_username = "my_gmail_id"; private string login_password = "my_gmail_password"; public void send_email() { string src_address = "[email protected]"; string dest_address = "[email protected]"; try { MailMessage email_msg = new MailMessage(); SmtpClient email_client = new SmtpClient(); email_msg.From = new MailAddress(src_address); email_msg.Sender = new MailAddress(src_address); email_msg.ReplyTo = new MailAddress(src_address); email_msg.To.Add(dest_address); email_msg.Subject = "Test"; email_msg.Body = "Body of the message"; NetworkCredential credentials = new NetworkCredential(login_username, login_password); email_client.Credentials = credentials; email_client.Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; email_client.Port = 465; email_client.EnableSsl = true; email_client.Send(email_msg); Console.WriteLine("Message Sent Successfully!!"); Console.ReadLine(); } } } And the error message is as follows: The operation has timed out. Why is it always timing out? I am sure that I have the correct smtp server address and port number for gmail as I have configured my outlook with the same. Any help or ideas?

  • ASP.net SessionState Error in Design Mode

    - by stringo0
I'm getting a weird error in the design view for a user creation page for 2 controls: Error Creating Control - wCreateUser Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. (There's some more) I've done both of these, but I'm still getting the error in design mode. The controls work fine when compiled, and on the live site - this is just in the Visual Web Developer 2010 Design view for the page. Any ideas as to how I can resolve this? Thanks!

  • NetworkStream.Read delay .Net

    - by Gilbes
I have a class that inherits from TcpClient. In that class I have a method to process responses. In that method I call I get the NetworkStream with MyBase.GetStream and call Read on it. This works fine, excpet the first call to read blocks too long. And by too long I mean that the socket has recieved plenty of data, but won't read it until some arbitrary limit is reached. I can see that it has recieved plenty of data using the packet sniffer WireShark. I have set the recieve buffer to small amounts, and very small amounts (like just a few bytes) to no avail. I have done the same with the buffer byte array I pass to the read method, and it still delays. Or to put it another way. I am download 600k. The download takes 5 seconds (at a little over 100k/second connection to the server which makes sense). The initial Read call takes 2-3 seconds and tells me only 256 bytes are availble (256 is the Recieve buffer and the size of the array I read in to). Then magically, the other few hundred thousand bytes can be read in 256 byte chunks in only a few process ticks each. Using a packet sniffer, I know that during those initial 2-3 seconds, the socket has recieved much more than just 256 bytes. My connection wasn't .25k/second for 3 seconds and then 400k for 2 seconds. How do I get the bytes from a socket as they come in?

  • GoTo statements, and alternatives (help me please im new) (VB.net)

    - by qais
Basically I posted a code snippet on a forum asking for help and people pointed out to me that using GoTo statements is very bad programming practise so I'm just wondering, why is it bad? And also what alternative is there to use, like for example in this program ive done for homework the user has to input their date of birth and if the month/date/year are invalid or unrealistic(using if statements checking the integer inputs size, if theres any better way to do this i'd appreciate if you could tell me that also :D) then how would i be able to loop back to ask them again? heres a little extract of my code retryday: Console.WriteLine("Please enter the day you were born : ") day = Console.ReadLine If day > 31 Or day < 1 Then Console.WriteLine("Please enter a valid day") GoTo retryday End If

  • Check malicious Redirect URL in ASP.NET

    - by acidzombie24
I heard of sites using other site to redirect users either to their own site or to hide behind another site. In my code i redirect in a few places such as post a comment (its easier to use a return url then figure out the page using data given). How do i check if the return URL is my own url? I think i use absolute paths so i can easily check if the first character is '/' but then i will lose relative flexibility. This also disallows me from doing http://mysite.com/blah in the redirect url. I could patch the url by adding mysite + string but i'll need to figure out if string is a relative url or already a mysite.com url. Whats the easiest way to ensure i am only redirecting to my site?

  • ASP.NET Webforms site using HTTPCookie with 100 year timeout times out after 20 minutes

    - by Rob
I have a site that is using Forms Auth. The client does not want the site session to expire at all for users. In the login page codebehind, the following code is used: // user passed validation FormsAuthentication.Initialize(); // grab the user's roles out of the database String strRole = AssignRoles(UserName.Text); // creates forms auth ticket with expiration date of 100 years from now and make it persistent FormsAuthenticationTicket fat = new FormsAuthenticationTicket(1, UserName.Text, DateTime. Now, DateTime.Now.AddYears(100), true, strRole, FormsAuthentication.FormsCookiePath); // create a cookie and throw the ticket in there, set expiration date to 100 years from now HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(fat)) { Expires = DateTime.Now.AddYears(100) }; // add the cookie to the response queue Response.Cookies.Add(cookie); Response.Redirect(FormsAuthentication.GetRedirectUrl(UserName.Text, false)); The web.config file auth section looks like this: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms name="APLOnlineCompliance" loginUrl="~/Login.aspx" defaultUrl="~/Course/CourseViewer.aspx" /> </authentication> When I log into the site I do see the cookie correctly being sent to the browser and passed back up: However, when I walk away for 20 minutes or so, come back and try to do anything on the site, the login window reappears. This solution was working for a while on our servers - now it's back. The problem doesn't occur on my local dev box running Cassini in VS2008. Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • ASP NET MVC custom route fallback

    - by manudea
I'm wondering if it is possibile to customize routing in a way that all requests are evaluated by a piece of code, redirected to the relevant controller if a match is found or passed to next rout in list if not found. sample request: /my coolpage/another one the code searches and determine that the right controller for this is Page, action is "list" and id is "123" and so redirects another request: /products/list/5 code finds no match al passes it back to next route that knows how to handle it... any idea on how to do this?
