  • How do I recycle code in Visual Studio with XNA?

    - by Marty Wallace
I'm relatively new to both C# and Visual Studio, using XNA Game Studio. All I want to do is take some folders from a current project which contain .cs files and utilise those files in a new project, but it's proving to be a little trickier than I am used to with Flash/ActionScript. At the moment it seems like I need to use this process over and over until all the files I want are part of the current project:

  • Registry Problem

    - by Dominik
I made a launcher for my game server. (World of Warcraft) I want to get the installpath of the game, browsed by the user. I'm using this code to browse, and get the installpath, then set some other strings from the installpath string, then just strore in my registry key. using System; using System.Drawing; using System.Reflection; using System.Collections; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Data; using Microsoft.Win32; using System.IO; using System.Net.NetworkInformation; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Runtime; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using System.Security; using System.Security.Cryptography; using System.Text; using System.Net; using System.Linq; using System.Net.Sockets; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Threading; namespace WindowsFormsApplication1 { public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } string InstallPath, WoWExe, PatchPath; private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { RegistryKey LocalMachineKey_Existence; MessageBox.Show("Browse your install location.", "Select Wow.exe"); OpenFileDialog BrowseInstallPath = new OpenFileDialog(); BrowseInstallPath.Filter = "wow.exe|*.exe"; if (BrowseInstallPath.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { InstallPath = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(BrowseInstallPath.FileName); WoWExe = InstallPath + "\\wow.exe"; PatchPath = InstallPath + "\\Data\\"; LocalMachineKey_Existence = Registry.LocalMachine.CreateSubKey(@"SOFTWARE\ExistenceWoW"); LocalMachineKey_Existence.SetValue("InstallPathLocation", InstallPath); LocalMachineKey_Existence.SetValue("PatchPathLocation", PatchPath); LocalMachineKey_Existence.SetValue("WoWExeLocation", WoWExe); } } } } The problem is: On some computer, it doesnt stores like it should be. For example, your wow.exe is in C:\ASD\wow.exe, your select it with the browse windows, then the program should store it in the Existence registry key as C:\ASD\Data\ but it stores like this: C:\ASDData , so it forgots a backslash :S Look at this picture: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2829/regedita.jpg My program works cool on my PC, and on my friends pc, but on some pc this "bug" comes out :S I have windows 7, with .NEt 3.5 Please help me.

  • JQuery Tabs: How to get a list of the tab titles

    - by user340254
    As the title suggest, my question is what is the best way to get or build a list of the titles for the set of tabs. I was thinking I would have to build the list in a for loop, but there does not appear to be any 'name' or 'title' property where you could do something like this: var $tabs = $('contentContainer').tabs(); $tabs.tabs( 'title', index );

  • Sprite to Line Collision

    - by Alu
If I have a sprite, how would I check collision between two points? For example, in a game I am making, I would like to draw multiple lines that my sprite collides against. I'm thinking that this is more flexible than other collision systems if I had a lot of platforms.

  • Compact matlab matrix indexing notation

    - by AnnaR
I've got an nxk sized matrix, containing k numbers per row. I want to use these k number as indexes to k-dimensional matrix. Is there any compact way of doing so in matlab or must I use a for-loop? This is what I want to do (in matlab-pseudo code), but in a more matlabish way. for row=1:1:n finalTable(row) = kDimensionalMatrix(indexmatrix(row, 1),... indexmatrix(row, 2),...,indexmatrix(row, k)) end

  • How to access the CGColor property of UIColor in CGContextSetFillColorWithColor?

    - by Azeworai
CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(g, [UIColor greyColor].CGColor); I'm trying to follow O'Reilly's iPhone Game Development book on page 73 Chapter 3 but I'm running into a compile error that states error: request for member 'CGColor' in something not a structure or union According to the book's errata page this is an unconfirmed errata in the book. I'm hoping that someone could help me replace that line of code to something that works. The example project can be downloaded from sourceforge at this link.

  • How to add an element to an array without a modification of the old array or creation a new one?

    - by Roman
I have the following construction: for (String playerName: players). I would like to make a loop over all players plus one more special player. But I do not want to modify the players array by adding a new element to it. So, what can I do? Can I replace players in the for (String playerName: players) by something containing all elements of the players plus one more element?

  • How does Android emulator performance compare to real device performance?

    - by uj2
I'm looking into writing an Android game, tough I don't curerntly own an Android device. For those of you who own a device, how does the performance on the emulator relate to real device performance? I'm especially interested in graphics related tasks. This obviously depends on both the machine running the emulator, and the specific device in question, but I'm talking rough numbers here. This question is a duplicate, but since that post is heavily outdated, I figured it's irrelevant by now.

  • Why do conditional breakpoints slow my program down so much?

    - by Bob
When I'm debugging something that goes wrong inside a loop, say on the 600th iteration, it can be a pain to have to break for every one. So I tried setting a conditional breakpoint, to only break if I = 600. That works, but now it takes almost a full minute to reach that point, where before it was almost instantaneous. What's going on, and is there any way to fix it?

  • Jquery $().each method obscures 'this' keyword

    - by Jeff Fritz
I am creating a Javascript object that contains a function that executes a jQuery each method like the following: function MyClass { Method1 = function(obj) { // Does something here } Method2 = function() { $(".SomeClass").each(function() { // 1 2 this.Method1(this); }); } } Which object is each THIS referring to? jQuery is referring to the item returned from the each iteration. However, I would like This[1] to refer to the containing class... How can I refer to the containing class from within the jQuery loop?

  • Drawing on top of every windows on X11

    - by Vítor Baptista
Hi, I am trying to make an arcade machine. The user will purchase credits, which will allow him to play for X minutes. I want to write "9:42 minutes left" at the left corner of the screen, even if he's playing a full screen game (UrbanTerror, for example). I would really like if I could do this with Ruby, but any other language is OK. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
