  • Applying styles to a GridView matching certain criteria

    Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to ASP.Net so it's probably just me being a bit stupid, but I just can't figure out why this isn't working. Basically, I have a GridView control (GridView1) on a page which is reading from a database. I already have a CSS style applied to the GridView and all I want to do is change the background image applied in the style depending on if a certain cell has data in it or not. The way I'm trying to handle this change is updating the CSS class applied to each row through C#. I have the code below doing this: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { GridViewRow row = e.Row; string s = row.Cells[7].Text; if (s.Length > 0) { row.CssClass = "newRowBackground"; } else { row.CssClass = "oldRowBackground"; } } In theory, the data from Cell[7] will either be null or be a string (in this case, likely a person's name). The problem is that when the page loads, every row in the GridView has the new style applied to it, whether it's empty or not. However, when I change it to use hard coded examples, it works fine. So for example, the below would work exactly how I want it to: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { GridViewRow row = e.Row; string s = row.Cells[7].Text; if (s == "Smith") //Matching a name in one of the rows { row.CssClass = "newRowBackground"; } else { row.CssClass = "oldRowBackground"; } } It seems as if the top piece of code is always returning the string with a value greater than 0, but when I check the database the fields are all null (except for my test record of "Smith"). I'm probably doing something very simple that's wrong here, but I can't see what. Like I said, I'm still very new to this. One thing I have tried is changing the argument in the if statement to things like: if (s != null), if (s != "") and if (s == string.empty) all with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated and don't hesitate to tell me if I'm just being stupid here. :)

What am i doing wrong?

  • Is there a way that I can force mod_perl to re-use buffer memory?

    Hi, I have a Perl script running in mod_perl that needs to write a large amount of data to the client, possibly over a long period. The behavior that I observe is that once I print and flush something, the buffer memory is not reclaimed even though I rflush (I know this can't be reclaimed back by the OS). Is that how mod_perl operates and is there a way that I can force it to periodically free the buffer memory, so that I can use that for new buffers instead of taking more from the OS?

I've got a solution, but it's not very efficient. (It takes several minutes to run.) I'm looking for a more efficient solution. Any suggestions?

User enters Aplication url (http://localhost:8082/eIA_Mock_5) it has a welcome page (index.jsp) Index.jsp gets winId through jQuery and hits login.html (through Ajax) and passes windowsId login.html (Controller) authenticates through LDAP and gives back 'Valid' String as a response javascript, upon getting the correct response, redirects/loads welcome page i.e. goes to localhost:8082/eIA_Mock_5/welcome.html Now, i have filter associated with it..which checks for is session valid for each incoming request..Now the problem is even though i set data on to httpsession, yet the filter or any other controller fails to get the data through session as a result it doesnt proceeds further.. here is the code..and could you suggest what is wrong actually ??   • Does the java JFC hash table use seperate chaining resolution? Can I traverse each list in the table

    I have written a program to store a bunch of strings in a JFC hash table. There are defiantly collisions going on, but I don't really know how it is handling them. My ultimate goal is to print the number of occurrences of each string in the table, and traversing the bucket or list would work nicely. Or maybe counting the collisions? Or do you have another idea of how I could get a count of the elements?

  • Two collections and a for loop. (Urgent help needed) Checking an object variable against an inputted

    Hi there, I'm relatively new to java, I'm certain the error is trivial. But can't for the life of me spot it. I have an end of term exam on monday and currently trying to get to grips with past papers! Anyway heregoes, in another method (ALGO_1) I search over elements of and check the value H_NAME equals a value entered in the main. When I attempt to run the code I get a null pointer exception, also upon trying to print (with System.out.println etc) the H_NAME value after each for loop in the snippet I also get a null statement returned to me. I am fairly certain that the collection is simply not storing the data gathered up by the Scanner. But then again when I check the collection size with size() it is about the right size. Either way I'm pretty lost and would appreciate the help. Main questions I guess to ask are: from the readBackground method is the data.add in the wrong place? is the snippet simply structured wrongly? oh and another point when I use System.out.println to check the Background object values name, starttime, increment etc they print out fine.   • Why did File::Find finish short of completely traversing a large directory?

    A directory exists with a total of 2,153,425 items (according to Windows folder Properties). It contains .jpg and .gif image files located within a few subdirectories. The task was to move the images into a different location while querying each file's name to retrieve some relevant info and store it elsewhere. The script that used File::Find finished at 20462 files. Out of curiosity I wrote a tiny recursive function to count the items which returned a count of 1,734,802. I suppose the difference can be accounted for by the fact that it didn't count folders, only files that passed the -f test. The problem itself can be solved differently by querying for file names first instead of traversing the directory. I'm just wondering what could've caused File::Find to finish at a small fraction of all files. The data is stored on an NTFS file system.   • UnicodeDecodeError when redirecting to file

    Hi, I run this snippet twice, in the ubuntu terminal, (encoding set to utf-8) once with ./test.py and then with ./test.py >out.txt: uni = u"\u001A\u0BC3\u1451\U0001D10C" print uni Without redirection it prints garbage. With redirection I get a UnicodeDecodeError. Can someone explain why I get the error only in the second case, or even better give a detailed explanation of what's going on behind the curtain in both cases?

  • Common Lisp's equivalent of \r inside the format function?

    Basically, I'd like to do the following, only using Common Lisp instead of Python: print("Hello world.\r\n") I can do this, but it only outputs the #\newline character and skips #\return: (format t "Hello world.~%") I believe I could accomplish this using an outside argument, like this: (format t "Hello world.~C~%" #\return) But is seems awkward to me. Surely I can somehow embed #\return into the very format string, like I can #\newline? Yeah ehh, I'm nitpicking. Thanks for any help!
