  • More efficient comparison of numbers

    - by Pez Cuckow
    I have an array which is part of a small JS game I am working on I need to check (as often as reasonable) that each of the elements in the array haven't left the "stage" or "playground", so I can remove them and save the script load I have coded the below and was wondering if anyone knew a faster/more efficient way to calculate this. This is run every 50ms (it deals with the movement). Where bots[i][1] is movement in X and bots[i][2] is movement in Y (mutually exclusive). for (var i in bots) { var left = parseInt($("#" + i).css("left")); var top = parseInt($("#" + i).css("top")); var nextleft = left + bots[i][1]; var nexttop = top + bots[i][2]; if(bots[i][1]>0&&nextleft>=PLAYGROUND_WIDTH) { remove_bot(i); } else if(bots[i][1]<0&&nextleft<=-GRID_SIZE) { remove_bot(i); } else if(bots[i][2]>0&&nexttop>=PLAYGROUND_HEIGHT) { remove_bot(i); } else if(bots[i][2]<0&&nexttop<=-GRID_SIZE) { remove_bot(i); } else { //alert(nextleft + ":" + nexttop); $("#" + i).css("left", ""+(nextleft)+"px"); $("#" + i).css("top", ""+(nexttop)+"px"); } } On a similar note the remove_bot(i); function is as below, is this correct (I can't splice as it changes all the ID's of the elements in the array. function remove_bot(i) { $("#" + i).remove(); bots[i] = false; } Many thanks for any advice given!

  • Why the vertical scroll bar moves automatically ?

    - by Misha Moroshko
    I don't understand why the vertical scroll bar moves automatically to the most top position when "Line 9" clicked, for example. Further clicks does not move the scroll bar. Could anyone explain why, and how to fix this ? I work with Firefox 3.6.3. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <body> <div> <table> <tr row='0'><td class='column1'>Line 0</td></tr> <tr row='1'><td class='column1'>Line 1</td></tr> <tr row='2'><td class='column1'>Line 2</td></tr> <tr row='3'><td class='column1'>Line 3</td></tr> <tr row='4'><td class='column1'>Line 4</td></tr> <tr row='5'><td class='column1'>Line 5</td></tr> <tr row='6'><td class='column1'>Line 6</td></tr> <tr row='7'><td class='column1'>Line 7</td></tr> <tr row='8'><td class='column1'>Line 8</td></tr> <tr row='9'><td class='column1'>Line 9</td></tr> </table> </div> </body> $(document).ready(function() { $(".column1").each(function(index) { $(this).after("<td class='column2'>Details " + index + "</td>"); $(this).toggle(function() { $("[row='" + index + "'] .column2").fadeIn("fast") }, function() { $("[row='" + index + "'] .column2").fadeOut("fast") }); }); }); div { overflow: auto; height: 100px; width: 300px; border: 1px solid blue; } .column1 { cursor: pointer; } .column2 { display: none; }

  • Examples of mobile frameworks that support AdSense for mobile content ads?

    - by David Sky
    I’ve tried, I really have, to find examples of serving up AdSense for mobile content ads in any of the popular mobile frameworks, but can’t find running webpages with ads, nor tutorials, etc.... I’ve done some iUI work, but would consider jQueryMobile, iWebKit, even sencha-touch if I could find an example that actually displays ads within the framework on an iPhone, iPod touch,etc... I realize there are issues with the HTML adSense generates, but hasn’t anyone found a work-around? Surely some mobile HTML sites must be serving up ads? Links to tutorials would be much appreciated!

  • Json return code to simplify if possible.

    - by pirzada
    Can you simplify this code?. Is there anything we can do to make it more simple. I am not sure but it looks ugly to me. [HttpPost] public JsonResult UserDetailById(int userId, string username) { IQueryable<Company> repository = companyRepository.GetGridCompanies(); Employee emp = companyRepository.GetEmployee(userId); //Drop down fill var a = (from c in repository .OrderBy(c => c.companyName) select new { Id = c.companyID, Name = c.companyName }).ToArray(); var data = new { Id = emp.companyID.ToString(), Name = emp.employeeFirstname + " " + emp.employeeLastname, Fn = emp.employeeFirstname, Ln = emp.employeeLastname, Dept = emp.employeeDepartment, Sup = emp.employeeSup.ToString(), HireDate = String.Format("{0:MM/dd/yyyy}", emp.employeeHiredate), CompVm = a }; return Json(data); }

  • Resize div on browser resize

    - by danit
    I have a <div> which I want to display full screen, but I also need to incorporate a 60px high <div> and a 10px high <div> at the top of the document. The size of the main div will need to re-size as the browser window is re-sized to keep it full screen. <div id="div1" style="height: 60px"> </div> <div id="div2" style="height: 10px"> </div> <div id="fullscreen"> </div> So: fullscreen height = document size - (#div1 + #div2) On re-size recalculate the above value.

  • Can I run a JavaScript function AFTER Google Loader has run?

    - by thatryan
    I am loading Google API using google.load() and I need to process some of what is built by it, but I need to run the JavaScript after it has already completely loaded, is there a way to ensure that happens? Here is how I build the list of images, I need to add an attribute to each img tag though, can't do that until after it is built right? google.load("feeds", "1"); function initialize() { var feed = new google.feeds.Feed("myfeed.rss"); feed.load(function(result) { if (!result.error) { var container = document.getElementById("feed"); for (var i = 0; i < result.feed.entries.length; i++) { var entry = result.feed.entries[i]; var entryTitle = entry.title; var entryContent = entry.content; imgContent = entryContent + "<p>"+entryTitle+"</p>"; var div = document.createElement("div"); div.className = "image"; div.innerHTML = imgContent; container.appendChild(div); } } }); } google.setOnLoadCallback(initialize);

  • By passing div id, can i change target of text replacement?

    - by crosenblum
    I am using the code below to replace text inside a div. But I need to loop through a specific div, instead of everything on the page, that is the div's text nodes... I just do not understand how to refer to the div in the code below. (function (parent) { var childs = parent.childNodes; // if there are children to this if (childs && childs.length) { // loop through each text node for (var i = 0, node; node = childs[i]; i++) {

  • juqery image fading with tabs

    - by StealthRT
    Hey all, i am trying my best to figure out how to go about doing this: I have 2 tabs. When the page loads tab1 is selected automatically. This shows the tab as 1.0 transparency while tab2 stays at 0.7. Once the user clicks on tab2, tab1 goes to 0.7 transparency and tab2 goes to 1.0. However, i can not seem to get it to do that! Here is my code: function checkTab(theTab) { $('#tab1').fadeTo(250, 0.70); $('#tab2').fadeTo(250, 0.70); if ($("#tabActive").val() == theTab) { $(theTab).fadeTo(250, 1); } } $(document).ready(function() { $('#tab1').hover(function() {$(this).fadeTo(250, 1)}, function() {checkTab('#tab1')}); $('#tab2').hover(function() {$(this).fadeTo(250, 1)}, function() {checkTab('#tab2')}); $('#tab2').fadeTo(250, 0.70); $('#tabActive').val('tab1'); }); </script> <li class="stats"><img src="images/Stats.png" name="nav1" width="70" height="52" id="tab1" onclick="$('#tabActive').val('tab1');" /></li> <li class="cal"><img src="images/cal.png" name="nav1" width="70" height="52" id="tab2" onclick="$('#tabActive').val('tab2');" /></li> <input name="tabActive" id="tabActive" type="text" /> Any help would be great! :) David

  • On Click alert if $.get returns a value, if not, submit the form

    - by bradenkeith
    If the submit button is clicked, prevent the default action and see if the field 'account_name' is already in use. If the $.get() returns a result, alert the user of the results. If it doesn't, submit form with id="add_account_form". My problem is that my else{} statement is not submitting the form. I get no response when submit is clicked & there is no value returned. Also I would like to change my code where it goes $("#add_account_form").submit(..) instead of .click() however, would that cause a problem when trying to submit the form later in the script? <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready( function () { $("#submit").click( function () { var account_name = $("input[name=account_name]").val(); $.get( "'.url::site("ajax/check_account_name").'", {account_name: account_name}, function(data){ if(data.length > 0){ confirm( "The account name you entered looks like the following:\n" +data+ "Press cancel if this account already exists or ok to create it." ); }else{ $("#add_account_form").submit(); } }); return false; }); }); </script> <p> <input type="submit" id="submit" class="submit small" name="submit" value="Submit" /> </p> </form> Thanks for your help. EDIT So anyone who runs into my problems, it's that $.get() is asynchronous, so it will always return false, or true depending on what submitForm is defined as. $.ajax() however, allows async to be set as false, which allows the function to finish before moving on. See what I mean: $(document).ready( function () { $("#add_account_form").submit( function () { var submitForm = true; var account_name = $("input[name=account_name]").val(); $.ajax({ type: "GET", async: false, url: "'.url::site("ajax/check_account_name").'", data: ({account_name: account_name}), success: function(data){ if(data.length > 0){ if(!confirm( "The account name you entered looks like the following:\n" +data+ "Press cancel if this account already exists or ok to create it." )){ submitForm = false; } } } }); if (submitForm == false ) { return false; } }); }); Thanks for your help @Dan

  • How to make an AJAX call immediately on document loading

    - by Ankur
    I want to execute an ajax call as soon as a document is loaded. What I am doing is loading a string that contains data that I will use for an autocomplete feature. This is what I have done, but it is not calling the servlet. I have removed the calls to the various JS scripts to make it clearer. I have done several similar AJAX calls in my code but usually triggered by a click event, I am not sure what the syntax for doing it as soon as the document loads, but I thought this would be it (but it's not): <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "AutoComplete", dataType: 'json', data: queryString, success: function(data) { var dataArray = data; alert(dataArray); } }); $("#example").autocomplete(dataArray); }); </script> <title></title> </head> <body> API Reference: <form><input id="example"> (try "C" or "E")</form> </body> </html>

  • Slider with keypress control bugs when keys pressed to quickly.

    - by Jaybuz
    Hello, I've made a slider that uses the left and right arrow keys to move the slide but when pressed to quickly it will bug a little and I was wondering if it's possible to limit the amount of presses in say a second. You can see it here: {link} $('#slider-nav div').click(function() { $('#slider-nav div').removeClass('selected').addClass(''); $('#slider-nav div:eq('+($.jcarousel.intval($(this).text())-1)+')').addClass('selected'); }) // Allow left and right keys to control slider $(document.documentElement).keypress(function(e) { var code = (e.keyCode ? e.keyCode : e.which); var direction = null; // handle cursor keys if (code == 37) { // left key direction = 'prev'; } else if (code == 39) { // right key direction = 'next'; } if (direction != null) { $('#slider-nav div.selected')[direction]().click(); } });

  • Reading only one row from table in model binder

  • Display/Hide part of a list

    - by superexsl
    Hi I have an (unordered)list (generated by a repeater) of items. However, I'd like to show the first three items, and have the rest hidden by the main content div. When a button is pressed, I would like the list's div to expand, pushing the main content div down and showing the rest of the list. I was thinking of using slideDown(), but that closes the entire div ( and I would like to show the first 3 items of the list). What would be the best way to achieve an effect like this? Is there a plugin that can easily show X items of a list and the display the rest upon request? Thanks

  • beforeClose not working in jGrowl?

    - by sparkymark75
    I have the following code which pulls json data from an ASP.NET page and displays these as notifications. The code will also take a note of what's been pulled through and store it in an array to prevent it being shown again in the same session. I'm now trying to implement functionality so that when the user closes a message, it's ID is recorded in a cookie to prevent it ever being shown again. To do this, I'm trying to write to the cookie when the beforeClose event fires. Everything else works fine apart from the saving to a cookie bit. Is there something wrong with my code that I'm missing? var alreadyGrowled = new Array(); var noteCookie = $.cookie("notificationsViewed"); if (noteCookie != null) { alreadyGrowled = noteCookie.split(","); } function growlCheckNew() { $.getJSON('getNotifications.aspx', function(data) { $(data).each(function(entryIndex, entry) { var newMessage = true; $(alreadyGrowled).each(function(index, msg_id) { if (entry['ID'] == msg_id) { newMessage = false; } }); if (newMessage == true) { $.jGrowl(entry['Message'], { sticky: true, header: entry['Title'], beforeClose: function(e, m) { $.cookie("notificationsViewed", entry['ID']); } }); } alreadyGrowled.push(entry['ID']); }); }); }

  • JQuyer slide and stop issues: animated element freezes with quick mouse movement

    - by sherlock
    Here is Zi JsFiddle. In order to replicate my issue you have to hover over the link that says 'javascript', then mouseout that, then mouseback in. If you do this before the animation is complete, the pink slidedown #subMenu will freeze midway through sliding. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I have tried some .stop()s , but i really don't want the animation to re-start every time you mouseenter or leave the .navLink . The animation should begin from where it left off. In other words, if the pink section is halfway down, and a slideDown() gets executed, the pink should not dissappear and then slide down, it should slide down from where it is. Thanks!! JS: $('header#subHeader').hide(); $('.navLink').hover(function () { if ($(this).children('div').length > 0) { var subMenu = $(this).find('.subMenu').html(); $('header#subHeader').empty().append('<div>' + subMenu + '</div>').stop().slideDown(); } else { $('header#subHeader').stop().slideUp(); } }); $('hgroup:first').on('mouseleave', function(){ $('header#subHeader').slideUp(); });

  • Uploadify and Image Compression

    - by Ilya Biryukov
    Hi, I am using Uploadify on one of my client's web sites to allow them to upload a large amount of pictures at once to their photo gallery. I am seeing issues lately. They seem to upload large photographs (3 MB and above). I am wondering, is it possible to compress (reduce their size) on the client side, instead of doing it on the server (just like facebook does it). I know I could easily do it on the server, but I am working on another project right now, where I am expecting a large flow of photo uploads. It would require significant amount of CPU time to process them all. So I thought, I'd ask about the client side processing. Thanks.
