• jquery error() calls showing up in firebug profile

  I am working on an ASP.NET application that make a lot of jquery and javascript calls and trying to optimize the client side code as much as possible. (This web application is only designed to run on special hardware that has very low memory and processing power.) The profiler in firebug is great for figuring out what calls are taking up the most time. I have already optimized a lot of my selectors and it is much faster. However the profile shows a lot of jquery error() calls. In the attached image of the firebug profile window you can see it was called 52 times, accounting for 15.4 of the processing time. Is that normal for jquery to call its error() like that? My code works flawlessy, and there are no error messages in the firefox error console. It seems like that is a significant performance hit. Is there anyway to get more info on what the errors are? Thanks.

• Select image iphone simulator using phonegap camera api

  I'm new to Xcode and iPhone apps. I want to select an image from iPhone (camera or library) and send to php via ajax. http://wiki.phonegap.com/iPhone:-Camera-API I'm using the phonegap framework, Xcode iPhone SDK version 3.1.x. On clicking button it calls function with parameter 0 or 1, but it does not initialize camera or display the library. I used the same code as in the above link. it shows this error in debug console: 2010-03-25 23:36:02.337 PhoneGap[7433:207] Camera.getPicture: Camera not available. simulator dsnt have camera, but photos(from library) also not wokring! what might be the error? i think when using navigator.camera.getPicture first check for camera and if not break and shws error ~?

  I just downloaded and ran the boost installer for version 1.42 (from boostpro.com), and set up my project according to the getting started guide.   I'm looking for the following features: Scheduler uses SQL Server as the backing store Tasks can be scheduled by one application and executed by another I can have multiple applications, each of which handles a specific subset of tasks Tasks can be triggered at specific times, now, or based on the success or failure of other tasks Data can be attached to tasks There are a number of nice-to-have's, like a web management console, clustering/failover support, customizable logging, but they're not requirements. On the surface Quartz.NET has a nice interface and seems to fit the bill as it satisfies (1), (4 with some custom work) and (5), but I've been beating my head against (2) and (3) seems like I'd have to invest more effort than it's worth, especially given how convoluted the innards of it are. Any other libraries out there? Open source is preferred, with free as a close runner up. It's really hard to get management to pay for things like this when it's not their idea.

  I am trying to select nodes except from script nodes and a ul that has a class called 'relativeNav'. Can someone please direct me to the right path? I have been searching for this for a week and I can't find it anywhere. Currently I have this but it obviously selecting the //ul[@class='relativeNav'] as well. • How to intercept touches events on a MKMapView or UIWebView objects?

  Hello, I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but I try to catch touches on a MKMapView object. • PerformanceCounters on .NET 4.0 & Windows 7

  I have a program that works fine on VS2008 and Vista, but I'm trying it on Windows 7 and VS2010 / .NET Framework 4.0 and it's not working. Ultimately the problem is that System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories() (and other PerformanceCounterCategory methods) is not working. I'm getting a System.InvalidOperationException with the message "Cannot load Counter Name data because an invalid index '' was read from the registry." I can reproduce this with the very simple program shown below: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { foreach (var pc in System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories()) { Console.WriteLine(pc.CategoryName); } } } I did make sure I'm running the program as an admin. It doesn't matter if I run it with VS/Debugger attached or not. I don't have another machine with Windows 7 or VS2010 to test it on, so I'm not sure which is complicating things here (or both?). It is Windows 7 x64 and I've tried forcing the app to run in both x32 and x64 but get the same results.

  Hi, I'm trying to follow Marcus Zarra in his book 'Core Data'. In the book, he makes a small sample application, but it doesn't give much help when things don't work out... He starts out by visually designing three entities, and then adding array controllers for each entity to the main nib. Second, he adds a tableview and some other visual components to show data from the array controllers. So far, I have managed to follow, but now he adds a search field to the gui, and binds it to the same array controller as one of the tableviews. Expected behavior would be for the tableview to get filtered when typing in the search field, but nothing happens. How do I find out what's wrong? The relevant parts from the nib is as follow: NSArrayController Recipes - Mode = Entity - Enitity Name = Recipe TableView w/TableColumn - Value Bind To Recipes -- Controller Key = arrangedObjects -- Model Key Path = name Search Field - Predicate Bind To Recipes -- Controller Key = filterPredicate -- Model Key Path = name -- Display name = predicate -- Predicate Format = keyPath contains $value There are no relevant messages in the console. regards, -Vegar

• setting jQuery .data() within .getJSON callback

  I'm doing a couple of .getJSON calls and if any one of them succeeds, I'm trying to set a bool to true so I can then do some other stuff elsewhere on the page. I was trying to use jquery's .data() function, but I don't seem able to set it from inside the .getJSON callback. for example: $('#citations_button').data('citations', false); $.getJSON(apaurl, function(data) { $('#apacite').html("<td class=\"bibInfoLabel\">APA Citation</td><td class=\"bibInfoData\">"+data+"</td>"); $('#citations_button').data('citations', true); }, "html"); // other .getJSONs look like above... console.log("citations? • iPhone - strange error when testing on simulator

  Hi I was testing my app on the simulator when it crashed on clicking a button of a UIAlertView. I stopped debugging there, made some changes to the code and built the app again. Now when I run the application, I get this error in the console Couldn't register com.myApp.debug with the bootstrap server. Error: unknown error code. This generally means that another instance of this process was already running or is hung in the debugger.Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. I tried removing the app from the simulator, doing a clean build but I still get this error when I try to run the app. Can someone please let me know what I should do to be able to run the app on my simulator again. What am I doing wrong? BTW, this code is in a content page, using a content placeholder that 'injects' code into the element of the rendered page.

  First, I know that Silverlight needs to be embedded in a website, usually an asp page. I understand I need a delivery boy. My question is this; What types of apps/projects are so filled with technological hurdles as to make them ridiculous to do in Silverlight versus ASP.net? I know that with perseverance and flexibility I can probably make EVERY app in Silverlight, in some version or another, but which ones would be blatantly simple in, say ASP.net(or even WPF) but quite complicated in Silverlight? Basically what I am asking is if there is any reason I shouldn't consider Silverlight my first stop for every problem, obvious exceptions not with standing(a service or console). For me specifically, at this point, I am only building in house apps.

• MySQL is running VERY slow

  I have two servers: a VPS and a laptop. I recently re-built both of them, and MySQL is running about 20 times slower on the laptop. Both servers used to run CentOS 5.8 and I think MySQL 5.1, and the laptop used to do great so I do not think it is the hardware. For the VPS, my provider installed CentOS 6.4, and then I installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. For the laptop, I installed CentOS 6.4 basic server and then installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. my.cnf for both servers are identical, and I have shown below. For both servers, I've also included below the output from SHOW VARIABLES; as well as output from sysbench, file system information, and cpu information. I have tried adding skip-name-resolve, but it didn't help. The matrix below shows the SHOW VARIABLES output from both servers which is different. Again, MySQL was installed the same way, so I do not know why it is different, but it is and I think this might be why the laptop is executing MySQL so slowly. Why is the laptop running MySQL slowly, and how do I fix it? • Issue passing NSMutableDictionary to a method

  Hello all, I've got a chunk of code that's passing an NSMutableDictionary (amongst other things) to a method in another class: [self.shuttle makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:@"login" module:@"login" query:credentials]; The NSMutableArray credentials is previously defined like this: NSMutableDictionary *credentials = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [credentials setObject:username forKey:@"username"]; [credentials setObject:password forKey:@"password"]; The method that receives it looks like this: -(id)makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:(NSString *)mode module:(NSString *)module query:(NSMutableDictionary *)query The code works fine up until this point within the above method: [query setObject:self.sessionID forKey:@"session_id"]; At this point, the application terminates -- the console informs me of this exception: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: method sent to an uninitialized mutable dictionary object' This leads me to believe that I must initialize NSMutableDictionary in some way in my new method before I can access it, but I have no idea how. Any advice?

• RadGrid cannot pass sortExpression to ObjectDataSourceControl

  I have a Telerik RadGrid that bound to a datasource object. They are configured to support custom paging, sorting. For paging, only the data of a page is retrieved from the database. Before sorting, it works fine. The select method of the datasource is like public List<xxx> Select(string sortExpression, int maximumRows, int startRowIndex) {} Before sorting the sortExpression is empty, which is expected. But after use click sort, in the OnSortCommand event handler of Radgrid, the SortExpression is correct, indicating RadGrid has caputre user's sorting correctly. protected void OnSort(object source, GridSortCommandEventArgs e) { Console.WriteLine(e.SortExpression); // correct } But what is strange is that the RadGrid does not pass parameter to DataSource correctly this time. sortExpression is still empty, maximumRows became int.Max, and startRowIndex is 0. The the sorting in still render correctly, but grid ask datasource to get all data and do the sorting locally. Is this bug of RadGrid or my configuration is wrong?
