  • Bindable richTextBox still hanging in memory {WPF, Caliburn.Micro}

    - by Paul
    Hi, I use in WFP Caliburn.Micro Framework. I need bindable richTextbox for Document property. I found many ways how do it bindable richTextBox. But I have one problem. From parent window I open child window. Child window consist bindable richTextBox user control. After I close child window and use memory profiler view class with bindabelrichTextBox control and view model class is still hanging in memory. - this cause memory leaks. If I use richTextBox from .NET Framework or richTextBox from Extended WPF Toolkit it doesn’t cause this memory leak problem. I can’t identified problem in bindable richTextBox class. Here is ist class for bindable richTextBox: Base class can be from .NET or Extended toolkit. /// <summary> /// Represents a bindable rich editing control which operates on System.Windows.Documents.FlowDocument /// objects. /// </summary> public class BindableRichTextBox : RichTextBox { /// <summary> /// Identifies the <see cref="Document"/> dependency property. /// </summary> public static readonly DependencyProperty DocumentProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Document", typeof(FlowDocument), typeof(BindableRichTextBox)); /// <summary> /// Initializes a new instance of the <see cref="BindableRichTextBox"/> class. /// </summary> public BindableRichTextBox() : base() { } /// <summary> /// Initializes a new instance of the <see cref="BindableRichTextBox"/> class. /// </summary> /// <param title="document">A <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.FlowDocument"></see> to be added as the initial contents of the new <see cref="T:System.Windows.Controls.BindableRichTextBox"></see>.</param> public BindableRichTextBox(FlowDocument document) : base(document) { } /// <summary> /// Raises the <see cref="E:System.Windows.FrameworkElement.Initialized"></see> event. This method is invoked whenever <see cref="P:System.Windows.FrameworkElement.IsInitialized"></see> is set to true internally. /// </summary> /// <param title="e">The <see cref="T:System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs"></see> that contains the event data.</param> protected override void OnInitialized(EventArgs e) { // Hook up to get notified when DocumentProperty changes. DependencyPropertyDescriptor descriptor = DependencyPropertyDescriptor.FromProperty(DocumentProperty, typeof(BindableRichTextBox)); descriptor.AddValueChanged(this, delegate { // If the underlying value of the dependency property changes, // update the underlying document, also. base.Document = (FlowDocument)GetValue(DocumentProperty); }); // By default, we support updates to the source when focus is lost (or, if the LostFocus // trigger is specified explicity. We don't support the PropertyChanged trigger right now. this.LostFocus += new RoutedEventHandler(BindableRichTextBox_LostFocus); base.OnInitialized(e); } /// <summary> /// Handles the LostFocus event of the BindableRichTextBox control. /// </summary> /// <param title="sender">The source of the event.</param> /// <param title="e">The <see cref="System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs"/> instance containing the event data.</param> void BindableRichTextBox_LostFocus(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { // If we have a binding that is set for LostFocus or Default (which we are specifying as default) // then update the source. Binding binding = BindingOperations.GetBinding(this, DocumentProperty); if (binding.UpdateSourceTrigger == UpdateSourceTrigger.Default || binding.UpdateSourceTrigger == UpdateSourceTrigger.LostFocus) { BindingOperations.GetBindingExpression(this, DocumentProperty).UpdateSource(); } } /// <summary> /// Gets or sets the <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.FlowDocument"></see> that represents the contents of the <see cref="T:System.Windows.Controls.BindableRichTextBox"></see>. /// </summary> /// <value></value> /// <returns>A <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.FlowDocument"></see> object that represents the contents of the <see cref="T:System.Windows.Controls.BindableRichTextBox"></see>.By default, this property is set to an empty <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.FlowDocument"></see>. Specifically, the empty <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.FlowDocument"></see> contains a single <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.Paragraph"></see>, which contains a single <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.Run"></see> which contains no text.</returns> /// <exception cref="T:System.ArgumentException">Raised if an attempt is made to set this property to a <see cref="T:System.Windows.Documents.FlowDocument"></see> that represents the contents of another <see cref="T:System.Windows.Controls.RichTextBox"></see>.</exception> /// <exception cref="T:System.ArgumentNullException">Raised if an attempt is made to set this property to null.</exception> /// <exception cref="T:System.InvalidOperationException">Raised if this property is set while a change block has been activated.</exception> public new FlowDocument Document { get { return (FlowDocument)GetValue(DocumentProperty); } set { SetValue(DocumentProperty, value); } } } Thank fro help and advice. Qucik example: Child window with .NET richTextBox <Window x:Class="WpfApplication2.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <RichTextBox Background="Green" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" FontSize="13" Margin="4,4,4,4" Grid.Row="0"/> </Grid> </Window> This window I open from parent window: var w = new Window1(); w.Show(); Then close this window, check with memory profiler and it memory doesn’t exist any object of window1 - richTextBox. It’s Ok. But then I try bindable richTextBox: Child window 2: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication2.Window2" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:Controls="clr-namespace:WpfApplication2.Controls" Title="Window2" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <Controls:BindableRichTextBox Background="Red" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" FontSize="13" Margin="4,4,4,4" Grid.Row="0" /> </Grid> </Window> Open child window 2, close this child window and in memory are still alive object of this child window also bindable richTextBox object.

  • Records not being saved to core data sqlite file

    - by esd100
    I'm a complete newbie when it comes to iOS programming and much less Core Data. It's rather non-intuitive for me, as I really came into my own with programming with MATLAB, which I guess is more of a 'scripting' language. At any rate, my problem is that I had no idea what I had to do to create a database for my application. So I read a little bit and thought I had to create a SQL database of my stuff and then import it. Long story short, I created a SQLite db and I want to use the work I have already done to import stuff into my CoreData database. I tried exporting to comma-delimited files and xml files and reading those in, but I didn't like it and it seemed like an extra step that I shouldn't need to do. So, I imported the SQLite database into my resources and added the sqlite framework. I have my core data model setup and it is setting up the SQLite database for the model correctly in the background. When I run through my program to add objects to my entities, it seems to work and I can even fetch results afterward. However, when I inspect the Core Data Database SQLite file, no records have been saved. How is it possible for it to fetch results but not save them to the database? - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions{ //load in the path for resources NSString *paths = [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath]; NSString *databaseName = @"histology.sqlite"; NSString *databasePath = [paths stringByAppendingPathComponent:databaseName]; [self createDatabase:databasePath ]; NSError *error; if ([[self managedObjectContext] save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Whoops, couldn't save: %@", [error localizedDescription]); } // Test listing all CELLS from the store NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entityMO = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"CELL" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entityMO]; NSArray *fetchedObjects = [[self managedObjectContext] executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; for (CELL *cellName in fetchedObjects) { //NSLog(@"cellName: %@", cellName); } -(void) createDatabase:databasePath { NSLog(@"The createDatabase function was entered."); NSLog(@"The databasePath is %@ ",[databasePath description]); // Setup the database object sqlite3 *histoDatabase; // Open the database from filessytem if(sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &histoDatabase) == SQLITE_OK) { NSLog(@"The database was opened"); // Setup the SQL Statement and compile it for faster access const char *sqlStatement = "SELECT * FROM CELL"; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatement; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(histoDatabase, sqlStatement, -1, &compiledStatement, NULL) != SQLITE_OK) { NSAssert1(0, @"Error while creating add statement. '%s'", sqlite3_errmsg(histoDatabase)); } if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(histoDatabase, sqlStatement, -1, &compiledStatement, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { // Loop through the results and add them to cell MO array while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) { CELL *cellMO = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"CELL" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]; if (sqlite3_column_type(compiledStatement, 0) != SQLITE_NULL) { cellMO.cellName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; } else { cellMO.cellName = @"undefined"; } if (sqlite3_column_type(compiledStatement, 1) != SQLITE_NULL) { cellMO.cellDescription = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 1)]; } else { cellMO.cellDescription = @"undefined"; } NSLog(@"The contents of NSString *cellName = %@",[cellMO.cellName description]); } } // Release the compiled statement from memory sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatement); } sqlite3_close(histoDatabase); } I have a feeling that it has something to do with the timing of opening/closing both of the databases? • RESTful services architecture question

    - by abovesun
    This is question more about service architecture strategy, we are building big web system based on rest services on back end. And we are currently trying to build some standard internal to follow while developing rest services. Some queries returns list of entities, for example lets consider we have image galleries retrieving service: /gell_all_galeries, returning next response: <galleries> <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo> <id>123</id> <name>my photo</name> <location>http://mysite/photo/show/123</location> ...... <author> <id>some_id</id> <name>some name</name> ....... <author> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> </galleries> As you see here, response quite big and heavy, and not always we need such deep info level. Usual solution is to use or http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atom elements for each gallery instead of full gallery data: <galleries> <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <link href="http://mysite/gallery/some_gallery_id"/> </gallery> <gallery> <id>second_gallery_id</id> <link href="http://mysite/gallery/second_gallery_id"/> </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> </galleries> The first question, is next: maybe instead we shouldn't even use and types, and just use generic and for all resources that return list objects: <list> <item><link href="http://mysite/gallery/some_gallery_id"/></item> <item><link href="http://mysite/gallery/other_gallery_id"/></item> <item>....</item> </list> And the second question, after user try to retrieve info about some concrete gallery, he'll use for example http://mysite/gallery/some_gallery_id link, what should he see as results? Should it be: <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo> <id>123</id> <name>my photo</name> <location>http://mysite/photo/show/123</location> ...... <author> <id>some_id</id> <name>some name</name> ....... <author> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> or : <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo><link href="http://mysite/photo/11111"/></photo> <photo><link href="http://mysite/photo/22222"/></photo> <photo><link href="http://mysite/photo/33333"/> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> or <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo> <link href="http://mysite/photo/11111"/> <author> <link href="http://mysite/author/11111"/> </author> </photo> <photo> <link href="http://mysite/photo/22222"/> <author> <link href="http://mysite/author/11111"/> </author> </photo> <photo> <link href="http://mysite/photo/33333"/> <author> <link href="http://mysite/author/11111"/> </author> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> I mean if we use link instead of full object info, how deep we should go there? Should I show an author inside photo and so on. Probably my question ambiguous, but what I'm trying to do is create general strategy in such cases for all team members to follow in future.

  • UITableView not displaying parsed data

    - by Graeme
    I have a UITableView which is setup in Interface Builder and connected properly to its class in Xcode. I also have a "Importer" Class which downloads and parses an RSS feed and stores the information in an NSMutableArray. However I have verified the parsing is working properly (using breakpoints and NSlog) but no data is showing in the UITable View. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I'm almost out of them. It's based on the XML performance Apple example. Here's the code for TableView.h: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "IncidentsImporter.h" @class SongDetailsController; @interface CurrentIncidentsTableViewController : UITableViewController <IncidentsImporterDelegate>{ NSMutableArray *incidents; SongDetailsController *detailController; UITableView *ctableView; IncidentsImporter *parser; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *incidents; @property (nonatomic, retain, readonly) SongDetailsController *detailController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IncidentsImporter *parser; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITableView *ctableView; // Called by the ParserChoiceViewController based on the selected parser type. - (void)beginParsing; @end And the code for .m: #import "CurrentIncidentsTableViewController.h" #import "SongDetailsController.h" #import "Incident.h" @implementation CurrentIncidentsTableViewController @synthesize ctableView, incidents, parser, detailController; #pragma mark - #pragma mark View lifecycle - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.parser = [[IncidentsImporter alloc] init]; parser.delegate = self; [parser start]; UIBarButtonItem *refreshButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemRefresh target:self action:@selector(beginParsing)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = refreshButton; [refreshButton release]; // Uncomment the following line to preserve selection between presentations. //self.clearsSelectionOnViewWillAppear = NO; // Uncomment the following line to display an Edit button in the navigation bar for this view controller. // self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; } - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { NSIndexPath *selectedRowIndexPath = [ctableView indexPathForSelectedRow]; if (selectedRowIndexPath != nil) { [ctableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:selectedRowIndexPath animated:NO]; } } // This method will be called repeatedly - once each time the user choses to parse. - (void)beginParsing { NSLog(@"Parsing has begun"); //self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem.enabled = NO; // Allocate the array for song storage, or empty the results of previous parses if (incidents == nil) { NSLog(@"Grabbing array"); self.incidents = [NSMutableArray array]; } else { [incidents removeAllObjects]; [ctableView reloadData]; } // Create the parser, set its delegate, and start it. self.parser = [[IncidentsImporter alloc] init]; parser.delegate = self; [parser start]; • How to capture live camera frames in RGB with DirectShow

    - by Jonny Boy
    I'm implementing live video capture through DirectShow for live processing and display. (Augmented Reality app). I can access the pixels easily enough, but it seems I can't get the SampleGrabber to provide RGB data. The device (an iSight -- running VC++ Express in VMWare) only reports MEDIASUBTYPE_YUY2. After extensive Googling, I still can't figure out whether DirectShow is supposed to provide built-in color space conversion for this sort of thing. Some sites report that there is no YUV<-RGB conversion built in, others report that you just have to call SetMediaType on your ISampleGrabber with an RGB subtype. Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm going nuts on this one. Code provided below. Please note that The code works, except that it doesn't provide RGB data I'm aware that I can implement my own conversion filter, but this is not feasible because I'd have to anticipate every possible device format, and this is a relatively small project // Playback IGraphBuilder *pGraphBuilder = NULL; • Problems Mapping a List of Serializable Objets with JDO

    - by Sergio del Amo
    I have two classes Invoice and InvoiceItem. I would like Invoice to have a List of InvoiceItem Objets. I have red that the list must be of primitive or serializable objects. I have made InvoiceItem Serializable. Invoice.java looks like import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Date; import java.util.List; import javax.jdo.annotations.Column; import javax.jdo.annotations.Embedded; import javax.jdo.annotations.EmbeddedOnly; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdGeneratorStrategy; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdentityType; import javax.jdo.annotations.PersistenceCapable; import return date;} public void setDate(Date invoiceDate) { this.date = invoiceDate;} public List<InvoiceItem> getItems() { return items;} public void setItems(List<InvoiceItem> items) { this.items = items;} } and InvoiceItem.java looks like import java.io.Serializable; import java.math.BigDecimal; import javax.jdo.annotations.PersistenceCapable; import javax.jdo.annotations.Persistent; @PersistenceCapable public class InvoiceItem implements Serializable { @Persistent private BigDecimal amount; @Persistent private float quantity; public InvoiceItem() {} public BigDecimal getAmount() { return amount;} public void setAmount(BigDecimal amount) { this.amount = amount;} public float getQuantity() { return quantity;} public void setQuantity(float quantity) { this.quantity = quantity;} } I get the next error while running a JUnit test. javax.jdo.JDOUserException: Attempt to handle persistence for object using datastore-identity yet StoreManager for this datastore doesn't support store an invoice with a list of items through my app. In the development console I can see that items are not persisted to any field while the rest of the invoice class properties are stored properly. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Solution As pointed in the answers, the error says that the InvoiceItem class was missing a primaryKey. I tried with: @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long id; But I was getting javax.jdo.JDOFatalUserException: Error in meta-data for InvoiceItem.id: Cannot have a java.lang.Long primary key and be a child object (owning field is Invoice.items). In persist list of objets, @aldrin pointed that For child classes the primary key has to be a com.google.appengine.api.datastore.Key value (or encoded as a string) see So, I tried with Key. It worked. @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key id;

  • Why is UITableView not reloading (even on the main thread)?

    - by radesix
    I have two programs that basically do the same thing. They read an XML feed and parse the elements. The design of both programs is to use an asynchronous NSURLConnection to get the data then to spawn a new thread to handle the parsing. As batches of 5 items are parsed it calls back to the main thread to reload the UITableView. My issue is it works fine in one program, but not the other. I know that the parsing is actually occuring on the background thread and I know that [tableView reloadData] is executing on the main thread; however, it doesn't reload the table until all parsing is complete. I'm stumped. As far as I can tell... both programs are structured exactly the same way. Here is some code from the app that isn't working correctly. - (void)startConnectionWithURL:(NSString *)feedURL feedList:(NSMutableArray *)list { self.feedList = list; // Use NSURLConnection to asynchronously download the data. This means the main thread will not be blocked - the // application will remain responsive to the user. // // IMPORTANT! The main thread of the application should never be blocked! Also, avoid synchronous network access on any thread. // NSURLRequest *feedURLRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:feedURL]]; self.bloggerFeedConnection = [[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:feedURLRequest delegate:self] autorelease]; // Test the validity of the connection object. The most likely reason for the connection object to be nil is a malformed // URL, which is a programmatic error easily detected during development. If the URL is more dynamic, then you should // implement a more flexible validation technique, and be able to both recover from errors and communicate problems // to the user in an unobtrusive manner. NSAssert(self.bloggerFeedConnection != nil, @"Failure to create URL connection."); // Start the status bar network activity indicator. We'll turn it off when the connection finishes or experiences an error. [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { self.bloggerData = [NSMutableData data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { [bloggerData appendData:data]; } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { self.bloggerFeedConnection = nil; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; // Spawn a thread to fetch the link data so that the UI is not blocked while the application parses the XML data. // // IMPORTANT! - Don't access UIKit objects on secondary threads. // [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(parseFeedData:) toTarget:self withObject:bloggerData]; // farkData will be retained by the thread until parseFarkData: has finished executing, so we no longer need // a reference to it in the main thread. self.bloggerData = nil; } If you read this from the top down you can see when the NSURLConnection is finished I detach a new thread and call parseFeedData. - (void)parseFeedData:(NSData *)data { // You must create a autorelease pool for all secondary threads. NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; self.currentParseBatch = [NSMutableArray array]; self.currentParsedCharacterData = [NSMutableString string]; self.feedList = [NSMutableArray array]; // // It's also possible to have NSXMLParser download the data, by passing it a URL, but this is not desirable // because it gives less control over the network, particularly in responding to connection errors. // NSXMLParser *parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithData:data]; [parser setDelegate:self]; [parser parse]; // depending on the total number of links parsed, the last batch might not have been a "full" batch, and thus // not been part of the regular batch transfer. So, we check the count of the array and, if necessary, send it to the main thread. if ([self.currentParseBatch count] > 0) { [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(addLinksToList:) withObject:self.currentParseBatch waitUntilDone:NO]; } self.currentParseBatch = nil; self.currentParsedCharacterData = nil; [parser release]; [pool release]; } In the did end element delegate I check to see that 5 items have been parsed before calling the main thread to perform the update. - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName { if ([elementName isEqualToString:kItemElementName]) { [self.currentParseBatch addObject:self.currentItem]; parsedItemsCounter++; if (parsedItemsCounter % kSizeOfItemBatch == 0) { [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(addLinksToList:) withObject:self.currentParseBatch waitUntilDone:NO]; self.currentParseBatch = [NSMutableArray array]; } } // Stop accumulating parsed character data. We won't start again until specific elements begin. accumulatingParsedCharacterData = NO; } - (void)addLinksToList:(NSMutableArray *)links { [self.feedList addObjectsFromArray:links]; // The table needs to be reloaded to reflect the new content of the list. if (self.viewDelegate != nil && [self.viewDelegate respondsToSelector:@selector(parser:didParseBatch:)]) { [self.viewDelegate parser:self didParseBatch:links]; } } Finally, the UIViewController delegate: - (void)parser:(XMLFeedParser *)parser didParseBatch:(NSMutableArray *)parsedBatch { NSLog(@"parser:didParseBatch:"); [self.selectedBlogger.feedList addObjectsFromArray:parsedBatch]; [self.tableView reloadData]; } If I write to the log when my view controller delegate fires to reload the table and when cellForRowAtIndexPath fires as it's rebuilding the table then the log looks something like this: parser:didParseBatch: parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath parser:didParseBatch: parser:didParseBatch: parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath parser:didParseBatch: parser:didParseBatch: parser:didParseBatch: parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath Clearly, the tableView is not reloading when I tell it to every time. The log from the app that works correctly looks like this: parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath parser:didParseBatch: tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath

  • Optimizing a lot of Scanner.findWithinHorizon(pattern, 0) calls

    - by darvids0n
    I'm building a process which extracts data from 6 csv-style files and two poorly laid out .txt reports and builds output CSVs, and I'm fully aware that there's going to be some overhead searching through all that whitespace thousands of times, but I never anticipated converting about about 50,000 records would take 12 hours. Excerpt of my manual matching code (I know it's horrible that I use lists of tokens like that, but it was the best thing I could think of): public static String lookup(List<String> tokensBefore, List<String> tokensAfter) { String result = null; while(_match(tokensBefore)) { // block until all input is read if(id.hasNext()) { result = id.next(); // capture the next token that matches if(_matchImmediate(tokensAfter)) // try to match tokensAfter to this result return result; } else return null; // end of file; no match } return null; // no matches } private static boolean _match(List<String> tokens) { return _match(tokens, true); } private static boolean _match(List<String> tokens, boolean block) { if(tokens != null && !tokens.isEmpty()) { if(id.findWithinHorizon(tokens.get(0), 0) == null) return false; for(int i = 1; i <= tokens.size(); i++) { if (i == tokens.size()) { // matches all tokens return true; } else if(id.hasNext() && !id.next().matches(tokens.get(i))) { break; // break to blocking behaviour } } } else { return true; // empty list always matches } if(block) return _match(tokens); // loop until we find something or nothing else return false; // return after just one attempted match } private static boolean _matchImmediate(List<String> tokens) { if(tokens != null) { for(int i = 0; i <= tokens.size(); i++) { if (i == tokens.size()) { // matches all tokens return true; } else if(!id.hasNext() || !id.next().matches(tokens.get(i))) { return false; // doesn't match, or end of file } } return false; // we have some serious problems if this ever gets called } else { return true; // empty list always matches } } Basically wondering how I would work in an efficient string search (Boyer-Moore or similar). My Scanner id is scanning a java.util.String, figured buffering it to memory would reduce I/O since the search here is being performed thousands of times on a relatively small file. The performance increase compared to scanning a BufferedReader(FileReader(File)) was probably less than 1%, the process still looks to be taking a LONG time. I've also traced execution and the slowness of my overall conversion process is definitely between the first and last like of the lookup method. In fact, so much so that I ran a shortcut process to count the number of occurrences of various identifiers in the .csv-style files (I use 2 lookup methods, this is just one of them) and the process completed indexing approx 4 different identifiers for 50,000 records in less than a minute. Compared to 12 hours, that's instant. Some notes (updated): I don't necessarily need the pattern-matching behaviour, I only get the first field of a line of text so I need to match line breaks or use Scanner.nextLine(). All ID numbers I need start at position 0 of a line and run through til the first block of whitespace, after which is the name of the corresponding object. I would ideally want to return a String, not an int locating the line number or start position of the result, but if it's faster then it will still work just fine. If an int is being returned, however, then I would now have to seek to that line again just to get the ID; storing the ID of every line that is searched sounds like a way around that. Anything to help me out, even if it saves 1ms per search, will help, so all input is appreciated. Thankyou! Usage scenario 1: I have a list of objects in file A, who in the old-style system have an id number which is not in file A. It is, however, POSSIBLY in another csv-style file (file B) or possibly still in a .txt report (file C) which each also contain a bunch of other information which is not useful here, and so file B needs to be searched through for the object's full name (1 token since it would reside within the second column of any given line), and then the first column should be the ID number. If that doesn't work, we then have to split the search token by whitespace into separate tokens before doing a search of file C for those tokens as well. Generalised code: String field; for (/* each record in file A */) { /* construct the rest of this object from file A info */ // now to find the ID, if we can List<String> objectName = new ArrayList<String>(1); objectName.add(Pattern.quote(thisObject.fullName)); field = lookup(objectSearchToken, objectName); // search file B if(field == null) // not found in file B { lookupReset(false); // initialise scanner to check file C objectName.clear(); // not using the full name String[] tokens = thisObject.fullName.split(id.delimiter().pattern()); for(String s : tokens) objectName.add(Pattern.quote(s)); field = lookup(objectSearchToken, objectName); // search file C lookupReset(true); // back to file B } else { /* found it, file B specific processing here */ } if(field != null) // found it in B or C thisObject.ID = field; } The objectName tokens are all uppercase words with possible hyphens or apostrophes in them, separated by spaces. Much like a person's name. As per a comment, I will pre-compile the regex for my objectSearchToken, which is just [\r\n]+. What's ending up happening in file C is, every single line is being checked, even the 95% of lines which don't contain an ID number and object name at the start. Would it be quicker to use ^[\r\n]+.*(objectname) instead of two separate regexes? It may reduce the number of _match executions. The more general case of that would be, concatenate all tokensBefore with all tokensAfter, and put a .* in the middle. It would need to be matching backwards through the file though, otherwise it would match the correct line but with a huge .* block in the middle with lots of lines. The above situation could be resolved if I could get java.util.Scanner to return the token previous to the current one after a call to findWithinHorizon. I have another usage scenario. Will put it up asap.

  • DirectShow: Video-Preview and Image (with working code)

    - by xsl
    Questions / Issues If someone can recommend me a good free hosting site I can provide the whole project file. As mentioned in the text below the TakePicture() method is not working properly on the HTC HD 2 device. It would be nice if someone could look at the code below and tell me if it is right or wrong what I'm doing. Introduction I recently asked a question about displaying a video preview, taking camera image and rotating a video stream with DirectShow. The tricky thing about the topic is, that it's very hard to find good examples and the documentation and the framework itself is very hard to understand for someone who is new to windows programming and C++ in general. Nevertheless I managed to create a class that implements most of this features and probably works with most mobile devices. Probably because the DirectShow implementation depends a lot on the device itself. I could only test it with the HTC HD and HTC HD2, which are known as quite incompatible. HTC HD Working: Video preview, writing photo to file Not working: Set video resolution (CRASH), set photo resolution (LOW quality) HTC HD 2 Working: Set video resolution, set photo resolution Problematic: Video Preview rotated Not working: Writing photo to file To make it easier for others by providing a working example, I decided to share everything I have got so far below. I removed all of the error handling for the sake of simplicity. As far as documentation goes, I can recommend you to read the MSDN documentation, after that the code below is pretty straight forward. void Camera::Init() { CreateComObjects(); _captureGraphBuilder->SetFiltergraph(_filterGraph); InitializeVideoFilter(); InitializeStillImageFilter(); } Dipslay a video preview (working with any tested handheld): void Camera::DisplayVideoPreview(HWND windowHandle) { IVideoWindow *_vidWin; _filterGraph->QueryInterface(IID_IMediaControl,(void **) &_mediaControl); _filterGraph->QueryInterface(IID_IVideoWindow, (void **) &_vidWin); _videoCaptureFilter->QueryInterface(IID_IAMVideoControl, (void**) &_videoControl); _captureGraphBuilder->RenderStream(&PIN_CATEGORY_PREVIEW, &MEDIATYPE_Video, _videoCaptureFilter, NULL, NULL); CRect rect; long width, height; GetClientRect(windowHandle, &rect); _vidWin->put_Owner((OAHWND)windowHandle); _vidWin->put_WindowStyle(WS_CHILD | WS_CLIPSIBLINGS); _vidWin->get_Width(&width); _vidWin->get_Height(&height); height = rect.Height(); _vidWin->put_Height(height); _vidWin->put_Width(rect.Width()); _vidWin->SetWindowPosition(0,0, rect.Width(), height); _mediaControl->Run(); } HTC HD2: If set SetPhotoResolution() is called FindPin will return E_FAIL. • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS (OBJ-C/iPhone)

    - by Michael Bordelon
    I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I ran instruments and it shows the following: 0 CFString Malloc 1 00:03.765 0x3946470 176 Foundation -[NSPlaceholderString initWithFormat:locale:arguments:] 1 CFString Autorelease 00:03.765 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSRecordAllocationEvent 2 CFString CFRelease 0 00:03.767 0x3946470 0 Bring It -[WorkoutViewController viewDidLoad] 3 CFString Zombie -1 00:03.917 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSPopAutoreleasePool Here is the source code for the controller. I left it all in there just in case there is something extraneous causing the problem. • Questions related to writing your own file downloader using multiple threads java

    - by Shekhar
    Hello In my current company, i am doing a PoC on how we can write a file downloader utility. We have to use socket programming(TCP/IP) for downloading the files. One of the requirements of the client is that a file(which will be large in size) should be transfered in chunks for example if we have a file of 5Mb size then we can have 5 threads which transfer 1 Mb each. I have written a small application which downloads a file. You can download the eclipe project from http://www.fileflyer.com/view/QM1JSC0 A brief explanation of my classes FileSender.java This class provides the bytes of file. It has a method called sendBytesOfFile(long start,long end, long sequenceNo) which gives the number of bytes. import java.io.File; import java.io.IOException; import java.util.zip.CRC32; import org.apache.commons.io.FileUtils; public class FileSender { private static final String FILE_NAME = "C:\\shared\\test.pdf"; public ByteArrayWrapper sendBytesOfFile(long start,long end, long sequenceNo){ try { File file = new File(FILE_NAME); byte[] fileBytes = FileUtils.readFileToByteArray(file); System.out.println("Size of file is " +fileBytes.length); System.out.println(); System.out.println("Start "+start +" end "+end); byte[] bytes = getByteArray(fileBytes, start, end); ByteArrayWrapper wrapper = new ByteArrayWrapper(bytes, sequenceNo); return wrapper; } catch (IOException e) { throw new RuntimeException(e); } } private byte[] getByteArray(byte[] bytes, long start, long end){ long arrayLength = end-start; System.out.println("Start : "+start +" end : "+end + " Arraylength : "+arrayLength +" length of source array : "+bytes.length); byte[] arr = new byte[(int)arrayLength]; for(int i = (int)start, j =0; i < end;i++,j++){ arr[j] = bytes[i]; } return arr; } public static long fileSize(){ File file = new File(FILE_NAME); return file.length(); } } Second Class is FileReceiver.java - This class receives the file. Small Explanation what this file does This class finds the size of the file to be fetched from Sender Depending upon the size of the file it finds the start and end position till the bytes needs to be read. It starts n number of threads giving each thread start,end, sequence number and a list which all the threads share. Each thread reads the number of bytes and creates a ByteArrayWrapper. ByteArrayWrapper objects are added to the list Then i have while loop which basically make sure that all threads have done their work finally it sorts the list based on the sequence number. then the bytes are joined, and a complete byte array is formed which is converted to a file. Code of File Receiver package com.filedownloader; import java.io.File; import java.io.IOException; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Collections; import java.util.Comparator; import java.util.List; import java.util.zip.CRC32; import org.apache.commons.io.FileUtils; public class FileReceiver { public static void main(String[] args) { FileReceiver receiver = new FileReceiver(); receiver.receiveFile(); } public void receiveFile(){ long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long numberOfThreads = 10; long filesize = FileSender.fileSize(); System.out.println("File size received "+filesize); long start = filesize/numberOfThreads; List<ByteArrayWrapper> list = new ArrayList<ByteArrayWrapper>(); for(long threadCount =0; threadCount<numberOfThreads ;threadCount++){ FileDownloaderTask task = new FileDownloaderTask(threadCount*start,(threadCount+1)*start,threadCount,list); new Thread(task).start(); } while(list.size() != numberOfThreads){ // this is done so that all the threads should complete their work before processing further. //System.out.println("Waiting for threads to complete. In this code i am not able to see the benefit. 2) How should i decide how many threads should i create ? 3) Are their any opensource libraries which does that 4) The file which file receiver receives is valid and not corrupted but checksum (i used FileUtils of common-io) does not match. Whats the problem? 5) This code gives out of memory when used with large file(above 100 Mb) i.e. because byte array which is created. How can i avoid? I know this is a very bad code but i have to write this in one day -:). Please suggest any other good way to do this? Thanks Shekhar

  • Casting an object using 'as' returns null: myObject = newObject as MyObject; // null

    - by John Russell
    I am trying to create a custom object in AS3 to pass information to and from a server, which in this case will be Red5. In the below screenshots you will see that I am able to send a request for an object from as3, and receive it successfully from the java server. However, when I try to cast the received object to my defined objectType using 'as', it takes the value of null. It is my understanding that that when using "as" your checking to see if your variable is a member of the specified data type. If the variable is not, then null will be returned. This screenshot illustrates that I am have successfully received my object 'o' from red5 and I am just about to cast it to the (supposedly) identical datatype testObject of LobbyData: However, when testObject = o as LobbyData; runs, it returns null. :( Below you will see my specifications both on the java server and the as3 client. I am confident that both objects are identical in every way, but for some reason flash does not think so. I have been pulling my hair out for a long time, does anyone have any thoughts? • Different behavior of functors (copies, assignments) in VS2010 (compared with VS2005)

    - by Patrick
    When moving from VS2005 to VS2010 we noticed a performance decrease, which seemed to be caused by additional copies of a functor. The following code illustrates the problem. It is essential to have a map where the value itself is a set. On both the map and the set we defined a comparison functor (which is templated in the example). #include <iostream> #include <map> #include <set> class A { public: A(int i, char c) : m_i(i), m_c(c) { std::cout << "Construct object " << m_c << m_i << std::endl; } A(const A &a) : m_i(a.m_i), m_c(a.m_c) { std::cout << "Copy object " << m_c << m_i << std::endl; } ~A() { std::cout << "Destruct object " << m_c << m_i << std::endl; } void operator= (const A &a) { m_i = a.m_i; m_c = a.m_c; std::cout << "Assign object " << m_c << m_i << std::endl; } int m_i; char m_c; }; class B : public A { public: B(int i) : A(i, 'B') { } static const char s_c = 'B'; }; class C : public A { public: C(int i) : A(i, 'C') { } static const char s_c = 'C'; }; template <class X> class compareA { public: compareA() : m_i(999) { std::cout << "Construct functor " << X::s_c << m_i << std::endl; } compareA(const compareA &a) : m_i(a.m_i) { std::cout << "Copy functor " << X::s_c << m_i << std::endl; } ~compareA() { std::cout << "Destruct functor " << X::s_c << m_i << std::endl; } void operator= (const compareA &a) { m_i = a.m_i; std::cout << "Assign functor " << X::s_c << m_i << std::endl; } bool operator() (const X &x1, const X &x2) const { std::cout << "Comparing object " << x1.m_i << " with " << x2.m_i << std::endl; return x1.m_i < x2.m_i; } private: int m_i; }; typedef std::set<C, compareA<C> > SetTest; typedef std::map<B, SetTest, compareA<B> > MapTest; int main() { int i = 0; std::cout << "--- " << i++ << std::endl; MapTest mapTest; std::cout << "--- " << i++ << std::endl; SetTest &setTest = mapTest[0]; std::cout << "--- " << i++ << std::endl; } If I compile this code with VS2005 I get the following output: --- 0 Construct functor B999 Copy functor B999 Copy functor B999 Destruct functor B999 Destruct functor B999 --- 1 Construct object B0 Construct functor C999 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Copy object B0 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Copy object B0 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct object B0 Destruct functor C999 Destruct object B0 --- 2 If I compile this with VS2010, I get the following output: --- 0 Construct functor B999 Copy functor B999 Copy functor B999 Destruct functor B999 Destruct functor B999 --- 1 Construct object B0 Construct functor C999 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Copy object B0 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Copy functor C999 Assign functor C999 Assign functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Copy object B0 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Copy functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Copy functor C999 Assign functor C999 Assign functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct functor C999 Destruct object B0 Destruct functor C999 Destruct object B0 --- 2 The output for the first statement (constructing the map) is identical. The output for the second statement (creating the first element in the map and getting a reference to it), is much bigger in the VS2010 case: Copy constructor of functor: 10 times vs 8 times Assignment of functor: 2 times vs. 0 times Destructor of functor: 10 times vs 8 times My questions are: Why does the STL copy a functor? Isn't it enough to construct it once for every instantiation of the set? Why is the functor constructed more in the VS2010 case than in the VS2005 case? (didn't check VS2008) And why is it assigned two times in VS2010 and not in VS2005? Are there any tricks to avoid the copy of functors? I saw a similar question at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2216041/prevent-unnecessary-copies-of-c-functor-objects but I'm not sure that's the same question. Thanks in advance, Patrick

  • Will these optimizations to my Ruby implementation of diff improve performance in a Rails app?

    - by grg-n-sox
    <tl;dr> In source version control diff patch generation, would it be worth it to use the optimizations listed at the very bottom of this writing (see <optimizations>) in my Ruby implementation of diff for making diff patches? </tl;dr> <introduction> I am programming something I have never done before and there might already be tools out there to do the exact thing I am programming but at this point I am having too much fun to care so I am still going to do it from scratch, even if there is a tool for this. So anyways, I am working on a Ruby on Rails app and need a certain feature. Basically I want each entry in a table of mine, let's say for example a table of video games, to have a stored chunk of text that represents a review or something of the sort for that table entry. However, I want this text to be both editable by any registered user and also keep track of different submissions in a version control system. The simplest solution I could think of is just implement a solution that keeps track of the text body and the diff patch history of different versions of the text body as objects in Ruby and then serialize it, preferably in human readable form (so I'll most likely use YAML for this) for editing if needed due to corruption by a software bug or a mistake is made by an admin doing some version editing. So at first I just tried to dive in head first into this feature to find that the problem of generating a diff patch is more difficult that I thought to do efficiently. So I did some research and came across some ideas. Some I have implemented already and some I have not. However, it all pretty much revolves around the longest common subsequence problem, as you would already know if you have already done anything with diff or diff-like features, and optimization the function that solves it. Currently I have it so it truncates the compared versions of the text body from the beginning and end until non-matching lines are found. Then it solves the problem using a comparison matrix, but instead of incrementing the value stored in a cell when it finds a matching line like in most longest common subsequence algorithms I have seen examples of, I increment when I have a non-matching line so as to calculate edit distance instead of longest common subsequence. Although as far as I can tell between the two approaches, they are essentially two sides of the same coin so either could be used to derive an answer. It then back-traces through the comparison matrix and notes when there was an incrementation and in which adjacent cell (West, Northwest, or North) to determine that line's diff entry and assumes all other lines to be unchanged. Normally I would leave it at that, but since this is going into a Rails environment and not just some stand-alone Ruby script, I started getting worried about needing to optimize at least enough so if a spammer that somehow knew how I implemented the version control system and knew my worst case scenario entry still wouldn't be able to hit the server that bad. After some searching and reading of research papers and articles through the internet, I've come across several that seem decent but all seem to have pros and cons and I am having a hard time deciding how well in this situation that the pros and cons balance out. So are the ones listed here worth it? I have listed them with known pros and cons. </introduction> <optimizations> Chop the compared sequences into multiple chucks of subsequences by splitting where lines are unchanged, and then truncating each section of unchanged lines at the beginning and end of each section. Then solve the edit distance of each subsequence. Pro: Changes the time increase as the changed area gets bigger from a quadratic increase to something more similar to a linear increase. Con: Figuring out where to split already seems like you have to solve edit distance except now you don't care how it is changed. Would be fine if this was solvable by a process closer to solving hamming distance but a single insertion would throw this off. Use a cryptographic hash function to both convert all sequence elements into integers and ensure uniqueness. Then solve the edit distance comparing the hash integers instead of the sequence elements themselves. Pro: The operation of comparing two integers is faster than the operation of comparing two strings, so a slight performance gain is received after every comparison, which can be a lot overall. Con: Using a cryptographic hash function takes time to convert all the sequence elements and may end up costing more time to do the conversion that you gain back from the integer comparisons. You could use the built in hash function for a string but that will not guarantee uniqueness. Use lazy evaluation to only calculate the three center-most diagonals of the comparison matrix and then only calculate additional diagonals as needed. And then also use this approach to possibly remove the need on some comparisons to compare all three adjacent cells as desribed here. Pro: Can turn an algorithm that always takes O(n * m) time and make it so only worst case scenario is that time, best case becomes practically linear, and average case is somewhere between the two. Con: It is an algorithm I've only seen implemented in functional programming languages and I am having a difficult time comprehending how to convert this into Ruby based on how it is described at the site linked to above. Make a C module and do the hard work at the native level in C and just make a Ruby wrapper for it so Ruby can make all the calls to it that it needs. Pro: I have to imagine that evaluating something like this in could be a LOT faster. Con: I have no idea how Rails handles apps with ruby code that has C extensions and it hurts the portability of the app. This is an optimization for after the solving of edit distance, but idea is to store additional combined diffs with the ones produced by each version to make a delta-tree data structure with the most recently made diff as the root node of the tree so getting to any version takes worst case time of O(log n) instead of O(n). Pro: Would make going back to an old version a lot faster. Con: It would mean every new commit, the delta-tree would get a new root node that will cost time to reorganize the delta-tree for an operation that will be carried out a lot more often than going back a version, not to mention the unlikelihood it will be an old version. </optimizations> So are these things worth the effort?

  • Font serialization in vb.net

    - by jovany
    Hello all, as the title says , I need to serialize my font. I have tried the following approach unfortunately to no avail. This is what I have and what happens; I have a drawing application and certain variables and properties need to be serialized. (So , Xml.Serialization has been used.) Now this has already been done in a huge portion and I've created some other attributes which needed to be serialized and it works. There is one base class and classes such as drawablestar, drawableeclipse ,etc. all inherit from this class. As does my drawabletextboxclass. The base class is Serializable as can be seen in the sample below. It looks like this... Imports System.Xml.Serialization <Serializable()> _ Public MustInherit Class Drawable ' Drawing characteristics. 'Font characteristics <XmlIgnore()> Public FontFamily As String <XmlIgnore()> Public FontSize As Integer <XmlIgnore()> Public FontType As Integer <XmlIgnore()> Public ForeColor As Color <XmlIgnore()> Public FillColor As Color <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public LineWidth As Integer = 0 <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public X1 As Integer <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public Y1 As Integer <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public X2 As Integer <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public Y2 As Integer ' attributes for size textbox <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public widthLabel As Integer <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public heightLabel As Integer '<XmlTextAttribute()> Public FontFamily As String '<XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public FontSize As Integer 'this should actually not be here.. <XmlAttributeAttribute()> Public s_InsertLabel As String ' Indicates whether we should draw as selected. <XmlIgnore()> Public IsSelected As Boolean = False ' Constructors. Public Sub New() ForeColor = Color.Black FillColor = Color.White 'FontFamily = "Impact" 'FontSize = 12 End Sub Friend WriteOnly Property _Label() As String Set(ByVal Value As String) s_InsertLabel = Value End Set End Property Public Sub New(ByVal fore_color As Color, ByVal fill_color As Color, Optional ByVal line_width As Integer = 0) LineWidth = line_width ForeColor = fore_color FillColor = fill_color ' FontFamily = Font_Family ' FontSize = Font_Size End Sub ' Property procedures to serialize and ' deserialize ForeColor and FillColor. <XmlAttributeAttribute("ForeColor")> _ Public Property ForeColorArgb() As Integer Get Return ForeColor.ToArgb() End Get Set(ByVal Value As Integer) ForeColor = Color.FromArgb(Value) End Set End Property <XmlAttributeAttribute("BackColor")> _ Public Property FillColorArgb() As Integer Get Return FillColor.ToArgb() End Get Set(ByVal Value As Integer) FillColor = Color.FromArgb(Value) End Set End Property 'Property procedures to serialize and 'deserialize Font <XmlAttributeAttribute("InsertLabel")> _ Public Property InsertLabel_() As String Get Return s_InsertLabel End Get Set(ByVal value As String) s_InsertLabel = value End Set End Property <XmlAttributeAttribute("FontSize")> _ Public Property FontSizeGet() As Integer Get Return FontSize End Get Set(ByVal value As Integer) FontSize = value End Set End Property <XmlAttributeAttribute("FontFamily")> _ Public Property FontFamilyGet() As String Get Return FontFamily End Get Set(ByVal value As String) FontFamily = value End Set End Property <XmlAttributeAttribute("FontType")> _ Public Property FontType_() As Integer Get Return FontType End Get Set(ByVal value As Integer) FontType = value End Set End Property #Region "Methods to override" Public MustOverride Sub Draw(ByVal gr As Graphics) ' Return the object's bounding rectangle. Public Overrides Sub Draw(ByVal gr As System.Drawing.Graphics) ' Make a Rectangle representing this rectangle. DrawGrabHandle(gr, X1, Y1) DrawGrabHandle(gr, X1, Y2) DrawGrabHandle(gr, X2, Y2) DrawGrabHandle(gr, X2, Y1) Else gr.DrawString(s_InsertLabel, drawFont, brsTextColor, X1, Y1) 'gr.DrawRectangle(Pens.Black, rect) ' Pens.Transparent gr.DrawRectangle(Pens.Black, rectString) End If End Sub 'get fontattributes Public Function FontAttributes() As Font Return New Font(FontFamily, 12, FontStyle.Regular) End Function ' Return the object's bounding rectangle. Public Overrides Function GetBounds() As System.Drawing.Rectangle Return New Rectangle( _ Min(X1, X1), _ Min(Y1, Y1), _ Abs(widthLabel), _ Abs(heightLabel)) End Function ' Return True if this point is on the object. Public Overrides Function IsAt(ByVal x As Integer, ByVal y As Integer) As Boolean Return (x >= Min(X1, X2)) AndAlso _ (x <= Max(X1, X2)) AndAlso _ (y >= Min(Y1, Y2)) AndAlso _ (y <= Max(Y1, Y2)) End Function ' Move the second point. Public Overrides Sub NewPoint(ByVal x As Integer, ByVal y As Integer) X2 = x Y2 = y End Sub ' Return True if the object is empty (e.g. a zero-length line). Public Overrides Function IsEmpty() As Boolean Return (X1 = X2) AndAlso (Y1 = Y2) End Function End Class The coordinates ( X1 ,X2,Y1, Y2 ) are needed to draw a circle , rectangle etc. ( in the other classes ).This all works. If I load my saved file it shows me the correct location and correct size of drawn objects. If I open my xml file I can see all values are correctly saved ( including my FontFamily ). Also the color which can be adjusted is saved and then properly displayed when I load a previously saved drawing. Of course because the coordinates work, if I insert a textField ,the location where it is being displayed is correct. However here comes the problem , my fontSize and fontfamily don't work. As you can see I created them in the base class, However this does not work. Is my approach completely off? What can I do ? Before saving img14.imageshack.us/i/beforeos.jpg/ After loading the Font jumps back to Sans serif and size 12. I could really use some help here.. Edit: I've been using the sample from this website http://www.vb-helper.com/howto_net_drawing_framework.html

  • C++ non-member functions for nested template classes

    - by beldaz
    I have been writing several class templates that contain nested iterator classes, for which an equality comparison is required. As I believe is fairly typical, the comparison is performed with a non-member (and non-friend) operator== function. In doing so, my compiler (I'm using Mingw32 GCC 4.4 with flags -O3 -g -Wall) fails to find the function and I have run out of possible reasons. In the rather large block of code below there are three classes: a Base class, a Composed class that holds a Base object, and a Nested class identical to the Composed class except that it is nested within an Outer class. Non-member operator== functions are supplied for each. These classes are in templated and untemplated forms (in their own respective namespaces), with the latter equivalent to the former specialised for unsigned integers. In main, two identical objects for each class are compared. For the untemplated case there is no problem, but for the templated case the compiler fails to find operator==. What's going on? #include <iostream> namespace templated { template<typename T> class Base { T t_; public: explicit Base(const T& t) : t_(t) {} bool equal(const Base& x) const { return x.t_==t_; } }; template<typename T> bool operator==(const Base<T> &x, const Base<T> &y) { return x.equal(y); } template<typename T> class Composed { typedef Base<T> Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Composed(const T& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Composed& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; template<typename T> bool operator==(const Composed<T> &x, const Composed<T> &y) { return x.equal(y); } template<typename T> class Outer { public: class Nested { typedef Base<T> Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Nested(const T& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Nested& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; }; template<typename T> bool operator==(const typename Outer<T>::Nested &x, const typename Outer<T>::Nested &y) { return x.equal(y); } } // namespace templated namespace untemplated { class Base { unsigned int t_; public: explicit Base(const unsigned int& t) : t_(t) {} bool equal(const Base& x) const { return x.t_==t_; } }; bool operator==(const Base &x, const Base &y) { return x.equal(y); } class Composed { typedef Base Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Composed(const unsigned int& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Composed& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; bool operator==(const Composed &x, const Composed &y) { return x.equal(y); } class Outer { public: class Nested { typedef Base Base_; Base_ base_; public: explicit Nested(const unsigned int& t) : base_(t) {} bool equal(const Nested& x) const {return x.base_==base_;} }; }; bool operator==(const Outer::Nested &x, const Outer::Nested &y) { return x.equal(y); } } // namespace untemplated int main() { using std::cout; unsigned int testVal=3; { // No templates first typedef untemplated::Base Base_t; Base_t a(testVal); Base_t b(testVal); cout << "a=b=" << testVal << "\n"; cout << "a==b ?   • C++ simple logging class with UTF-8 output [code example]

    - by Andrew
    Hello everyone, I was working on one of my academic projects and for the first time I needed pure C++ without GUI. After googling for a while, I did not find any simple and easy to use implementation for logging and created my own. This is a simple implementation with iostreams that logs messages to screen and to the file simultaneously. I was thinking of using templates but then I realized that I do not expect any changes and removed that. It is modified std::wostream with two added modifiers: 1. TimeStamp - prints time-stamp 2. LogMode(LogModes) - switches output: file only, screen only, file+screen. *Boost::utf8_codecvt_facet* is used for UTF-8 output. // ############################################################################ // # Name: MyLog.h # // # Purpose: Logging Class Header # // # Author: Andrew Drach # // # Modified by: <somebody> # // # Created: 03/21/10 # // # SVN-ID: $Id$ # // # Copyright: (c) 2010 Andrew Drach # // # Licence: <license> # // ############################################################################ #ifndef INCLUDED_MYLOG_H #define INCLUDED_MYLOG_H // headers -------------------------------------------------------------------- #include <string> #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <exception> #include <boost/program_options/detail/utf8_codecvt_facet.hpp> using namespace std; // definitions ---------------------------------------------------------------- // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- // DblBuf class // Splits up output stream into two // Inspired by http://wordaligned.org/articles/cpp-streambufs // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- class DblBuf : public wstreambuf { private: // private member declarations DblBuf(); wstreambuf *bf1; wstreambuf *bf2; virtual int_type overflow(int_type ch) { int_type eof = traits_type::eof(); int_type not_eof = !eof; if ( traits_type::eq_int_type(ch,eof) ) return not_eof; else { char_type ch1 = traits_type::to_char_type(ch); int_type r1( bf1on ? bf1->sputc(ch1) : not_eof ); int_type r2( bf2on ? bf2->sputc(ch1) : not_eof ); return (traits_type::eq_int_type(r1,eof) || traits_type::eq_int_type(r2,eof) ) ? eof : ch; } } virtual int sync() { int r1( bf1on ? bf1->pubsync() : NULL ); int r2( bf2on ? bf2->pubsync() : NULL ); return (r1 == 0 && r2 == 0) ? 0 : -1; } public: // public member declarations explicit DblBuf(wstreambuf *bf1, wstreambuf *bf2) : bf1(bf1), bf2(bf2) { if (bf1) bf1on = true; else bf1on = false; if (bf2) bf2on = true; else bf2on = false; } bool bf1on; bool bf2on; }; // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- // logstream class // Wrapper for a standard wostream with access to modified buffer // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- class logstream : public wostream { private: // private member declarations logstream(); public: // public member declarations DblBuf *buf; explicit logstream(wstreambuf *StrBuf, bool isStd = false) : wostream(StrBuf, isStd), buf((DblBuf*)StrBuf) {} }; // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- // Logging mode Class // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- enum LogModes{LogToFile=1, LogToScreen, LogToBoth}; class LogMode { private: // private member declarations LogMode(); short mode; public: // public member declarations LogMode(short mode1) : mode(mode1) {} logstream& operator()(logstream &stream1) { switch(mode) { case LogToFile: stream1.buf->bf1on = true; stream1.buf->bf2on = false; break; case LogToScreen: stream1.buf->bf1on = false; stream1.buf->bf2on = true; break; case LogToBoth: stream1.buf->bf1on = true; stream1.buf->bf2on = true; } return stream1; } }; logstream& operator<<(logstream &out, LogMode mode) { return mode(out); } wostream& TimeStamp1(wostream &out1) { time_t time1; struct tm timeinfo; wchar_t timestr[512]; // Get current time and convert it to a string time(&time1); localtime_s (&timeinfo, &time1); wcsftime(timestr, 512,L"[%Y-%b-%d %H:%M:%S %p] ",&timeinfo); return out1 << timestr; } // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- // MyLog class // Logs events to both file and screen // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- class MyLog { private: // private member declarations MyLog(); auto_ptr<DblBuf> buf; string mErrorMsg1; string mErrorMsg2; string mErrorMsg3; string mErrorMsg4; public: // public member declarations explicit MyLog(string FileName1, wostream *ScrLog1, locale utf8locale1); ~MyLog(); void NewEvent(wstring str1, bool TimeStamp = true); string FileName; wostream *ScrLog; wofstream File; auto_ptr<logstream> Log; locale utf8locale; }; // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- // MyLog constructor // ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- MyLog::MyLog(string FileName1, wostream *ScrLog1, locale utf8locale1) : // ctors mErrorMsg1("Failed to open file for application logging!   • Odd behavior when recursively building a return type for variadic functions

    - by Dennis Zickefoose
    This is probably going to be a really simple explanation, but I'm going to give as much backstory as possible in case I'm wrong. Advanced apologies for being so verbose. I'm using gcc4.5, and I realize the c++0x support is still somewhat experimental, but I'm going to act on the assumption that there's a non-bug related reason for the behavior I'm seeing. I'm experimenting with variadic function templates. The end goal was to build a cons-list out of std::pair. It wasn't meant to be a custom type, just a string of pair objects. The function that constructs the list would have to be in some way recursive, with the ultimate return value being dependent on the result of the recursive calls. As an added twist, successive parameters are added together before being inserted into the list. So if I pass [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] the end result should be {1+2, {3+4, 5+6}}. My initial attempt was fairly naive. A function, Build, with two overloads. One took two identical parameters and simply returned their sum. The other took two parameters and a parameter pack. The return value was a pair consisting of the sum of the two set parameters, and the recursive call. In retrospect, this was obviously a flawed strategy, because the function isn't declared when I try to figure out its return type, so it has no choice but to resolve to the non-recursive version. That I understand. Where I got confused was the second iteration. I decided to make those functions static members of a template class. The function calls themselves are not parameterized, but instead the entire class is. My assumption was that when the recursive function attempts to generate its return type, it would instantiate a whole new version of the structure with its own static function, and everything would work itself out. The result was: "error: no matching function for call to BuildStruct<double, double, char, char>::Go(const char&, const char&)" The offending code: static auto Go(const Type& t0, const Type& t1, const Types&... rest) -> std::pair<Type, decltype(BuildStruct<Types...>::Go(rest...))> My confusion comes from the fact that the parameters to BuildStruct should always be the same types as the arguments sent to BuildStruct::Go, but in the error code Go is missing the initial two double parameters. What am I missing here? If my initial assumption about how the static functions would be chosen was incorrect, why is it trying to call the wrong function rather than just not finding a function at all? It seems to just be mixing types willy-nilly, and I just can't come up with an explanation as to why. If I add additional parameters to the initial call, it always burrows down to that last step before failing, so presumably the recursion itself is at least partially working. This is in direct contrast to the initial attempt, which always failed to find a function call right away. Ultimately, I've gotten past the problem, with a fairly elegant solution that hardly resembles either of the first two attempts. So I know how to do what I want to do. I'm looking for an explanation for the failure I saw. Full code to follow since I'm sure my verbal description was insufficient. First some boilerplate, if you feel compelled to execute the code and see it for yourself. Then the initial attempt, which failed reasonably, then the second attempt, which did not. #include <iostream> using std::cout; using std::endl; #include <utility> template<typename T1, typename T2> std::ostream& operator <<(std::ostream& str, const std::pair<T1, T2>& p) { return str << "[" << p.first << ", " << p.second << "]"; } //Insert code here int main() { Execute(5, 6, 4.3, 2.2, 'c', 'd'); Execute(5, 6, 4.3, 2.2); Execute(5, 6); return 0; } Non-struct solution: template<typename Type> Type BuildFunction(const Type& t0, const Type& t1) { return t0 + t1; } template<typename Type, typename... Rest> auto BuildFunction(const Type& t0, const Type& t1, const Rest&... rest) -> std::pair<Type, decltype(BuildFunction(rest...))> { return std::pair<Type, decltype(BuildFunction(rest...))> (t0 + t1, BuildFunction(rest...)); } template<typename... • how to pass an id number string to this class

    I'm very much a vb person, but have had to use this id number class in c#. I got it from http://www.codingsanity.com/idnumber.htm : using System; using System.Text.RegularExpressions; namespace Utilities.SouthAfrica { /// <summary> /// Represents a South African Identity Number. /// valid number = 7707215230080 /// invalid test number = 1234567891234 /// /// </summary> [Serializable()] public class IdentityNumber { #region Enumerations /// <summary> /// Indicates a gender. /// </summary> public enum PersonGender { Female = 0, Male = 5 } public enum PersonCitizenship { SouthAfrican = 0, Foreign = 1 } #endregion #region Declarations static Regex _expression;
