• view-port resize vs document resize in IE

  window.resize event in IE doesnt do what i thought it does. I thought it only triggered when the physical window/view-port changed size (ie user hits maximize on the browser window for example), but it is also triggered if i change the document size, introducing scroll bars. is there any way to tell those two things apart: view port resize, and document resize without writing an elaborate hack?

• Javascript not working IE any version

  Hey everyone. I am having some issues on my end and hopefully it's just something on my end but, could someone take a look at THIS PAGE in IE and let me know if you can see what is wrong. Please check it out first in FF or Chrome or Safari because it all works fine in those browsers. The two scripts I am using are a custom-ish dropdown menu and another using jcarousel lite. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Thanks for any help!!!

• Adding li element only if it not already there?

  I am constructing an <li> element like this: var element = $("<li></li>") .html(mHTML) .attr('id', "elemid"); I am trying to add this element to a <ul> element only if it doesn't already exist. Any ideas on how to do this? Am I supposed to use contains() to see if the ul element contain the html and then decide? For instance, <ul id="elemul"> <li id="elemli1">Element 1</li> <li id="elemli2">Element 2</li> <li id="elemli3">Element 3</li> </ul> If I try adding Element 1, it should not add it. What should I do if its a longer string (not really long but about 150 characters). Note: I cannot rely on IDs to determine the uniqueness. i.e. I might end up forming something like: <li id="elemli3">Element 1</li> Do I go about using hashmaps?

The following code works in Firefox and Safari... var mousedownTimeout; $('#testButton').mousedown(function(){ mousedownTimeout = window.setTimeout(function(){ alert("Hey, let go."); }, 2000); }); $('#testButton').mouseup(function(){ window.clearTimeout(mousedownTimeout); }); ... but not on the iPhone because (quoting quirksmore.org)... The iPhone fires the mousedown, mouseup and click events in the correct order on a click (tap), but it either fires all three or none at all. Is there a way around this?

  Hi, I am trying to call a javascript function from a hyperlink that is part of the content in a qTip. I keep getting the error my function is not defined but it is defined within the page and can be called outside of qTip. Below is what I have so far: function addTooltip() { $("#mycontent").qtip({ content: 'mylink' }); } function tester() { alert("hello world"); } If I put the alert within the onClick attribute, I at least get the alert to work.   Hi, I try to explain you my "problem". I would like to know when I select a part of text, if this text is “wrapped” by html tags, and in function delete them. For example with this sentence : The car is <strong>green</strong>, and the boat is black If I select “green” and click on a button, I would like verify if green is wrapped by <strong>(for that it’s ok), and in function delete <strong> tags without delete containing “green”.   I have a series of HTML table cells with data - an example of which is: <tr id="rrow1"> <td> <a href="/electricity" class="category">Electricity</a> </td> <td> 901.471 </td> </tr> <tr id="rrow2">... <tr id="rrow3">... etc In this case, each <tr> (or hypathetically for the wider community a div/span/tr/td) is assigned a sequential id based on $rrow++; in a while loop (in PHP). I also have a Piechart using the highcharts library, where i'd like to highlight the slice (sliced: true) based upon onmouseover of particular div/span/tr/td element - in this case #rrow1 as above, but multiple/iterative elements as required and (sliced: false) onmouseout... As a simple example, I've tried accessing various derivatives of the following, but failed: $('#rrow1').mouseover(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', true); }); $('#rrow1').mouseout(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', false); }); The nearest I've found is this but bastardised at most and without success: plotOptions: { series: { mouseOver: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseover ) series.x = sliced: true; }, mouseOut: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseout ) series.x = sliced: false; } } } These are far from approaching correct and despite searching I can't find a valid/helpful example to work from or draw direction.
