In light of this question I thought it'd be really neat to have a similar question about C#/.Net.
So, what is the most awkward or misleading method name of the .Net and/or C# API?
I have a .NET application running on windows. I want clicking on some page element (button link flash app etc) to lunch my app with some special parameters. (It should run not just in IE but on WebKit based windows browsers too) During App install we suppose that user is Admin and is running Vista or Windows 7 or Later.
So my question is - Where to get examples of such interaction (WITH source of course)?
So how to make WebKit based Browser or IE call your .Net application?
I have a folder(/MyFolder/) with a dedicated web.config in it that does an impersonating
In that folder I have an asp.net file that use Microsoft report viewer 8.0 named MyReport.aspx
When I view this folder on my machine, it's working perfectly without issue
When I publish my project to the dev server and I'm trying to view the report, I have an issue where the the user that run IIS doesn't have access to something, (rsAccessDenied)
Can asp.net routing cause this issue?
(I'm not at work right now so I can only go by memory so it will be hard to provide more information)
Basically I have a Search Text Box with a LinkButton Control on which the click event is fired. now what i want is when the user type keywords and press enter the Click event got fired.

Hello all,
I am currently in the process of designing an interface for .NET software that would be consumed by COM objects - specifically, VB6.
While I have found a number of pages by Microsoft detailing how to make an COM-interoperable interface, I am currently tripping over the use of Collections in design time: I would like to be able to use a standard VB6 "Collection object" in the .NET program - for example, specify an argument as being a VB6 collection - and thus minimize the time necessary for clients to consume the interface.
Thank you in advance.
I've got quite a complex .Net 2.0 project to build (with VS 2010) which does not build without 2.0 version of System.ServiceModel.dll and does not run if compiled with .Framework 4.0. Can I install Net Framework 2.0 safely after 3.5 and 4.0? Or where can I download an old System.ServiceModel .dll assembly?

I am wondering where do the localized message come from. They apparently from resource class called SR that uses the standard .NET localization mechanism (via ResourceManager)
I can not find any satellite resource assemblies (e.g. System.es-es.dll) when I install a specific localized .NET framework version.
Where are the localized resource variants coming from?
On our current WPF project, we've been performing dependency injection using the Ninject IOC tool.
We want to target the .NET Framework Client Profile for a better download/install experience. The problem is that Ninject seems to reference libararies such as System.Web which are NOT in the Client Profile.
Can anyone recommend an IOC container that can target the .NET Framework Client Profile (3.5 or 4) ?

Of the control sets I've seen for ASP.Net they all exhibit a strange property. They rewrite everything in the ASP.Net control set. For instance both DevExpress and Telerik have their own Panel, Label, and UpdatePanel controls among others.
Why do vendors do this? Is it just to create a form of lock in or is it actually necessary?
I built a very simple installation package that only consists of some merge modules. The Setup project explorer shows no dependencies on .Net for these merge modules (and it should not). However, on building the .msi file a requierement for .Net is added to it. Can this be avoided, or do I have to use a third party .msi builder?
(I tried the obvious unchecking of any checkbox in the requierements listbox.)
Hello,
I've been using Spring with Java and I've seen that there is a version called Spring.NET. I wonder if there is any significant difference between them (apart from that one is for Java and the other is for .NET). Is it just a "language translation" of the framework or are they different project with just a similar purpose?
Thanks.
I've been thinking if there's a way how to speed up freeing memory in .NET. I'm creating a game in .NET (only managed code) where no significant graphics is needed but still I would like to write it properly in order to not to lose performance for nothing.
For example is it useful to assign null value to objects that are not longer needed? I see this in a few samples over Internet.
Thanks for answers!
Hi
In my View I'm using jquery ui datapicker.
So I need initiate it with code like this
$(function() {
$('#elementID').datepicker({

});
In my View

In old ASP.NET I may use

What is about retrieving element Id of Strongly Typed ASP.NET MVC HTML Helper?

I was wondering if it's possible to access the ASP.NET Configuration Tool once a site is live. To be able to create and edit users and roles is obviously very important, and from what I've been reading, once a site is deployed, the Configuration Tool is no longer accessible. If this is the case, HOW do I add users, etc.?
By the way, I found a User Management plugin which brings a lot of the Configuration Tool's capabilities to the front end of a User Management section of the deployed website, but it DOES NOT offer the capability to add a new user. Help??? Thanks!!
We have activate event in windows application like that is there any event in asp.net? How can i raise activate like event in Asp.net?Is there any possibility?
I once heard of a guy managed to install original Microsoft .Net Framework on Linux and successfully run Mono-incompatible .Net applications using bleeding-edge MS C# features. Any idea how could he do it?
Hi folks,
Simple question - for dedicated website hosting, do i need to download and install the full ASP.NET 4.0 package, or just the client.
I understand the client is required for end users who need the .NET framework for their windows form applications.
But i'm not sure for a web hosting sceanrio.
Also, don't worry about talking about x86 or x64 - i understand the differences with the packages, etc.
I'm a Java developer looking to learn some C#/ASP.NET. One thing I've never liked about .NET from the get-go was that it didn't have support for MVC. But now it does! So I was wondering if anybody knew where to get started learning C# MVC.
Also, do you need the non-free version of developer-studio to do this?
I am going to use forms authentication but I want to be able to link the asp.net users to some tables in the db for example
If I have a class and students (as roles) I'll have a class students table.
I'm planning to put in a Users table containing a simple int userid and ASP.NET username in there and put userid wherever I want to link the users.
Does that sound good? any other options of modeling this? it does sound a bit convoluted?
When Installing .NET Framework 4 in the near future, I would like to know if this product will replace all the previous .net frameworks that I have installed (i.e. 1.1, 2.0, 3, 3.5).
If yes, could I uninstall all of them?
I've been looking at software activation systems for .NET and frankly found the websites out there underwhelming. I'm wondering if there's a "standard" way to do it in .NET? If not, does anyone with experience of them have a recommendation?
I understand the arguments for and against activation systems, but still need to evaluate.
Thanks.
