  • Which IDE / code editor was the first to introduce a code completion feature?

    - by Uri
I am trying to identify the point in time where code completion (autocomplete/intellisense/whatever) was first introduced in IDEs and would appreciate any pointers. By code completion here I mean a feature within the editor that offers methods or suggestions based on the code that was already typed, and I am interested in programming language related completions (not word processor style completion).

  • HTML5 elements working in Chrome but not Safari or Firefox?

    - by Chris Armstrong
Hi, I'm using the HTML5 elements and in a project i'm working on (see it here) and the css seems to be working fine in Chrome. However, it doesn't appear to be working in Safari or Firefox (I haven't tested IE, but I'd imagine it's the same), and the page layout is all over the place. Any ideas why this may be? I know Firefox and Safari both support these elements, and Safari is webkit-based like Chrome, so I can't figure out what the problem is.

  • C++ application as a service with high performance

    - by sand
I need to provide a C++ application as a service. Client of the service and the service can be on the same machine or distributed on different machines based on the load. This application takes a ~2KB string as input and returns almost similar size of string after some processing. Turnaround time for the client should be really quick. What is the best mechanism to implement this?

  • Order a foreach, by the value of a calculation of values in the array

    - by Mark
I have an array as follows: $players = array( $player = array( 'name' => 'playername', 'speed' => '10', 'agility' => '10', 'influence' => '10' ) etc Then I calculate a $score, based on the sum of speed, agility and influence. $score = $p['speed'] + $p['agility'] + $p['influence']; How can I loop through my array, but order the results from highest to lowest $score? • Perforce Howto? Syncing/Merging files between branches.

    - by CodeToGlory
    (A) ------- (B) ----------- (C) | | | Trunk ReleaseBranch DeveloperBranch Developers work in the C branch and check-in all the files. The modified files are then labeled in the C branch. The binaries that get deployed are built from B branch and labeled. Currently all this is manual. In Perforce, is there a simple way to accomplish this like merging Branches based on labels etc?

  • Customer count map (Google maps?)

    - by David Hamilton
I have a two column list consisting of a US zipcode and a count (number of customers in this case). I want to put this data onto a map. Would Google maps API be a good fit for this? It seems like this would be a common enough type of problem to already have an existing (preferably Java based) solution without having to re-invent the wheel. Any suggestions?

  • Variable Binding Class

    - by Davis
Hi, I believe this is a tough one... I'm trying to create a collection of variable binding in a class. It is intended to look something like this: Dim x as integer, s as string Dim c as new VBindClass x = 1 s = "Hello" c.Add x, s Debug.Print c.value(x) '= 1 Debug.Print c.value(s) '= "Hello" Is there some function that allow us to retrieve a unique ID for a given variable and also get/set based on variable?

  • Speech recognition webservice that scores the accuracy of one audio clips vs. another?

    - by wgpubs
Does such a thing exist? Building a Rails based web application where users can upload an audio file of them speaking that then needs to be compared to another audio file for the purposes of determining how similar to voices are. Ideally I'd like to simply get a response that gives me a score of how similar they are in terms of percentage (e.g. 75% similar etc...). Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    - by Grant
Hi, if i wanted to create a mobile friendly version of a relatively small website would it be better to have a sub domain that redirects to a completely new url with sperate markup and styling or would it be better to detect the useragent in code and programatically change to a different mobile friendly stylesheet, or is their a better infrastructure based solution i am overlooking.. Thanks.

  • Is the WCF REST Starter Kit dead in the water?

    - by Richard Ev
We are looking at switching from using WCF for our service layer in applications to REST. So far we are assuming that the way to do this is to use the WCF REST Starter Kit. However this is still in Preview 2 and hasn't been updated since March 2009. Is this project dead in the water? If so, what alternatives do we have for creating .NET-based REST services? (Some are suggesting using ASP.NET MVC, which we're already using for our UI layer)

  • using 2 different jquery releases on the same page

    - by Nat
I am using this jquery plugin for a carousel controller http://sorgalla.com/projects/jcarousel/, it is based on jquery release 1.2.1 I also need to have tabs on the page, but when including the current jquery release in the page, the carousel stops working. Is there a way to have them both live together on the same page, or is there a way to have tabs work under realease 1.2.1? I rather not rebuild the carousel on another plugin, since this one is already skinned and works just as needed.

  • Low delay audio on Android via NDK

    - by hkhauke
Hi, it seems that this question has been asked before, I just would like to know whether there is an update in Android. I plan to write an audio application involving low delay audio I/O (appr. < 10 ms). It seems not to be possible based on the methods proposed by the SDK, hence is there - in the meantime - a way to achieve this goal using the NDK? Best regards, HK
