• Is it necessary to write ROLLBACK if queries fail?

  I write mysql_query("SET AUTOCOMMIT=0"); mysql_query("START TRANSACTION"); before I write all queries. Then check if all of them are true and then write: mysql_query("COMMIT"); But if one of query fails, I just pass COMMIT query. So do I really need ROLLBACK function if one of the queries fail? Because without ROLLBACK it also works. Thanks.

• How do I list all the files for a commit in git

  I need to write a script that retrieves all files that were committed for a given SHA1. I have difficulty getting a nice formatted list of all files that were part of the commit. I have tried: git show a303aa90779efdd2f6b9d90693e2cbbbe4613c1d Although listing the files it also includes additional diff information that I don't need. I am hoping there is a simple git command that will provide such a list without me having to parse it from the above command.

  I have the following SQL query which returns the correct results: SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name = '???\\\"?-???????' If I change it to SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????' or to SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????%' It doesn't work. It will work if I remove all the backslashes and " from the query.

  I have a database with blog entries in it. The desired output I am trying to acheive is 3 entrys displayed using the css3 multi paragraph and then another 3(or more) formatted with the codeigniter Character_limiter. So I need 3 displays formatted one way and 3+ formatted another way on the same page. So far this is what I have, but i do not know how to format the sql to achieve what I want.   For a table in oracle, I can query "all_tab_columns" and get table column information, like the data type, precision, whether or not the column is nullable. In SQL Developer or TOAD, you can click on a view in the GUI and it will spit out a list of the columns that the view returns and the same set of data (data type, precision, nullable, etc). So my question is, is there a way to query this column definition for a view, the way you can for a table? How do the GUI tools do it?
