  • are runtime linking library globals shared among plugins loaded with dlopen?

    - by conejoroy
I've a C++ program that links at runtime with, lets say, mylib.so. then, the same program uses dlopen()/dlsym() to load a function from myplugin.so, dynamic library that in turn has dependencies to mylib.so. My question is: will the program AND the function in the plugin access the same globals defined in mydlib.so in the same memory area reserved for the program, or each will be assigned different, unrelated copies in its own memory space? if the latter is the default behaviour, is it possible to change that? Thanks in advance =)!

  • How to embed a precharged collection of non-entity forms in symfony2

    - by metalvarez
I want to embed a collection of precharged non-entity forms, here is the code, first is the parent form buildForm method. public function buildForm(FormBuilderInterface $builder, array $options) { $builder->add("example1")->add("example2"); $builder->addEventListener(FormEvents::PRE_SET_DATA, function (FormEvent $event) { /*some logic to do before adding the collection of forms*/ $form->add('aclAccess', 'collection', array( 'type' => new ChildFormType(), 'allow_add' => true, 'mapped' => false, 'data' => /* I dont know how to precharge a collection of non-entity forms*/ )); }); } now the child form public function buildForm (FormBuilderInterface $builder, array $options) { $builder->add("test1", "text", array("read_only" => true, "data" => "test")); $builder->->add("test2", "choice", array( 'choices' => array('opt1' => 'Opt1', 'opt2' => 'Opt2'), 'multiple' => true, 'expanded' => true )); } so basicly i want to manage those child options in the test2 field as separated forms, each option group will depend on the value of the test1 field, i know this can be done by coding everythin in twig without form classes but i think having form classes its the best practice to run phpunit test, for maintainability, etc ...

  • Shortening large CSV on debian

    - by Unkwntech
I have a very large CSV file and I need to write an app that will parse it but using the 6GB file to test against is painful, is there a simple way to extract the first hundred or two lines without having to load the entire file into memory? The file resides on a Debian server.

  • How to Implement Web Based Find File Database Via Text Search

    - by neversaint
I have series of files like this: foo1.txt.gz foo2.txt.gz bar1.txt.gz ..etc.. and a tabular format file that describe those files: foo1 - Explain foo1 foo2 - Explain foo2 bar1 - Explain bar1 ..etc.. What I want to do is to have a website with a simple search bar and allow people to type foo1 or just foo and finally return the gzipped file(s) and the related explanation of the file(s). What's the best way to implement this and what kind of tools should I use. Sorry I am totally new in this area.

  • How to receive packets on the MCU's serial port?

    - by itisravi
Hello, Consider this code running on my microcontroller unit(MCU): while(1){ do_stuff; if(packet_from_PC) send_data_via_gpio(new_packet); //send via general purpose i/o pins else send_data_via_gpio(default_packet); do_other_stuff; } The MCU is also interfaced to a PC via a UART.Whenever the PC sends data to the MCU, the *new_packet* is sent, otherwise the *default_packet* is sent. Each packet can be 5 or more bytes with a pre defined packet structure. My question is: 1.Should i receive the entire packet from PC using inside the UART interrut service routine (ISR)? In this case, i have to implement a state machine inside the ISR to assemble the packet (which can be lengthy with if-else or switch-case blocks). 2.Detect a REQUEST command (one byte)from the PC in my ISR set a flag, diable UART interrupt alone and form the packet in my while(1) loop by polling the UART?

  • Simple POSIX threads question

    - by Andy
Hi, I have this POSIX thread: void subthread(void) { while(!quit_thread) { // do something ... // don't waste cpu cycles if(!quit_thread) usleep(500); } // free resources ... // tell main thread we're done quit_thread = FALSE; } Now I want to terminate subthread() from my main thread. I've tried the following: quit_thread = TRUE; // wait until subthread() has cleaned its resources while(quit_thread); But it does not work! The while() clause does never exit although my subthread clearly sets quit_thread to FALSE after having freed its resources! If I modify my shutdown code like this: quit_thread = TRUE; // wait until subthread() has cleaned its resources while(quit_thread) usleep(10); Then everything is working fine! Could someone explain to me why the first solution does not work and why the version with usleep(10) suddenly works? I know that this is not a pretty solution. I could use semaphores/signals for this but I'd like to learn something about multithreading, so I'd like to know why my first solution doesn't work. Thanks!

  • sudo changes PATH - why?

    - by Michiel de Mare
This is the PATH variable without sudo: $ echo 'echo $PATH' | sh /opt/local/ruby/bin:/usr/bin:/bin This is the PATH variable with sudo: $echo 'echo $PATH' | sudo sh /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin As far as I can tell, sudo is supposed to leave PATH untouched. What's going on? How do I change this? (This is on Ubuntu 8.04). UPDATE: as far as I can see, none of the scripts started as root change PATH in any way. From man sudo: To prevent command spoofing, sudo checks ``.'' and ``'' (both denoting current directory) last when searching for a command in the user's PATH (if one or both are in the PATH). Note, however, that the actual PATH environment variable is not modified and is passed unchanged to the program that sudo executes.

  • Checking if an SSH tunnel is up and running

    - by Jarmund
I have a perl script which, when destilled a bit, looks like this: my $randport = int(10000 + rand(1000)); # Random port as other scripts like this run at the same time my $localip = '192.168.100.' . ($port - 4000); # Don't ask... backwards compatibility system("ssh -NL $randport:$localip:23 root\@$ip -o ConnectTimeout=60 -i somekey &"); # create the tunnel in the background sleep 10; # Give the tunnel some time to come up # Create the telnet object my $telnet = new Net::Telnet( Timeout => 10, Host => 'localhost', Port => $randport, Telnetmode => 0, Errmode => \&fail, ); # SNIPPED... a bunch of parsing data from $telnet The thing is that the target $ip is on a link with very unpredictable bandwidth, so the tunnel might come up right away, it might take a while, it might not come up at all. So a sleep is necessary to give the tunnel some time to get up and running. So the question is: How can i test if the tunnel is up and running? 10 seconds is a really undesirable delay if the tunnel comes up straight away. Ideally, i would like to check if it's up and continue with creating the telnet object once it is, to a maximum of, say, 30 seconds.

  • How to deploy a Scala project from Eclipse?

    - by lach
I have a Scala project in Eclipse that I need to package up so I can deploy it to a server. It's based on Jetty but it runs as a standalone application. It contains Scala classes, Java classes and a number of 3rd party jars. I assumed there would be some kind of deployment option in the Scala Eclipse plugin but I've drawn a blank. What is the simplest way to package the Scala project into a runnable file so it can be deployed? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers.

  • rsyncing - ignoring checksums

    - by paulj3000
Trying to copy a bunch of data over and time, unfortunately, is of the essence. I'd like to do an rsync of all the data in one direction, pretty much rsync just clobbers what's over on the destination server. Is there a way to do an rsync and just say, "overwrite all files" Is there a better way of doing this? We're talking 500GB of data that only has to go in one direction.

  • Optimal directory structure for filesystem

    - by Pankaj
We have large scale web application which has millions of customer. Each customer can have document based on document type. We may have 20-30 types of documents. We are planning to use GlusterFS for storing these documents. I'm trying to find out what are the limitations of Gluster as far as number of files/directories ? Do we need to have hierarchical directory structure ? What would be the optimal directory structure ? Does this make sense - CustmerId Documenttype File1 File2

  • Setting up separate ctags db's for C/C++ standard libs, boost, and third party libs

    - by Robert S. Barnes
I want to set up separate ctags databases for various libraries in /usr/include/ for use with OmniCppComplete. The idea is to be able to pull in only the libraries needed for a particular project in the target language - C or C++. For example, I'd like to have one database for the standard C libraries, one for system libraries that might be used by either C or C++ programs ( sockets / networking comes to mind ) one for the standard C++ libs / STL / Boost, and then other databases for various third party libraries such as QT or glib. Then I could pull something in simply by typing set tags+= ~/.vim/somelib.tags in vim. I assume that everything related to the C++ stdlib and STL are in the /usr/include/c++ and that Boost is all in /usr/include/boost. Unfortunately it seems that the standard C libs and system libs are just kind of dumped directly into /usr/include/ with a variety of other stuff. How can I get a list of which files and directories belong to which libs? I'm on Ubuntu 8.04.

  • Howto Plot "Reverse" Cumulative Frequency Graph With ECDF

    - by neversaint
I have no problem plotting the following cumulative frequency graph plot like this. library(Hmisc) pre.test <- rnorm(100,50,10) post.test <- rnorm(100,55,10) x <- c(pre.test, post.test) g <- c(rep('Pre',length(pre.test)),rep('Post',length(post.test))) Ecdf(x, group=g, what="f", xlab='Test Results', label.curves=list(keys=1:2)) But I want to show the graph in forms of the "reverse" cumulative frequency of values x ? (i.e. something equivalent to what="1-f"). Is there a way to do it? Other suggestions in R other than using Hmisc are also very much welcomed.

  • Easily measure elapsed time

    - by hap497
I am trying to use time() to measure various points of my program. What I don't understand is why the values in the before and after are the same? I understand this is not the best way to profile my program, I just want to see how long something take. printf("**MyProgram::before time= %ld\n", time(NULL)); doSomthing(); doSomthingLong(); printf("**MyProgram::after time= %ld\n", time(NULL)); I have tried: struct timeval diff, startTV, endTV; gettimeofday(&startTV, NULL); doSomething(); doSomethingLong(); gettimeofday(&endTV, NULL); timersub(&endTV, &startTV, &diff); printf("**time taken = %ld %ld\n", diff.tv_sec, diff.tv_usec); How do I read a result of **time taken = 0 26339? Does that mean 26,339 nanoseconds = 26.3 msec? What about **time taken = 4 45025, does that mean 4 seconds and 25 msec?
