  • jQuery tabs - multiple sets on on page

    - by Jonny Wood
    This is kind of a follow on from a previous question I posted but I've not been able to get it to work.. I'm trying to use multiple sets of tabs (jQuery) on one page. This is the code I had for one set of tabs which works great: $('div.tabs div.tab').hide(); $('div.tabs div:first').show(); $('div.tabs ul.htabs li:first a').addClass('current'); $('div.tabs ul.htabs li a').click(function(){ $('div.tabs ul.htabs li a').removeClass('current'); $(this).addClass('current'); var currentTab = $(this).attr('href'); $('div.tabs div.tab').hide(); $(currentTab).show(); return false; }); To use more than one set on the page I assigned #id's to each tab-set and tried to impliment this with: $.each(['#tabs-1', '#tabs-2', '#tabs-3' ], function(id) { $(id + 'div.tab').hide(); $(id + 'div:first').show(); $(id + 'ul.htabs li:first a').addClass('current'); $(id + 'ul.htabs li a').click(function(){ $(id + 'ul.htabs li a').removeClass('current'); $(this).addClass('current'); var currentTab = $(this).attr('href'); $(id + 'div.tab').hide(); $(currentTab).show(); return false; }); }); Obviously I'm doing something wrong here but as a jQuery newcomer I'm stumped!

  • Toggling between instances of NiftyPlayer on a page - won't stop playing when hidden on IE

    - by Ashley
    Hi, i've got a page with links to MP3s, when the link is clicked I use javascript to show a small Flash player (NiftyPlayer) under the link. When a different link is clicked, the old player is hidden and the new player is revealed. The player auto-starts when the element is shown, and auto-stops when hidden - in Firefox. In IE it will only auto-start and NOT auto-stop. This is what I would like to solve. This is an example HTML with link and player <a href="Beat The Radar - Misunderstood What You Said.mp3" onclick="toggle_visibility('player662431');return false;" class="mp3caption">Misunderstood What You Said</a> <div id="player662431" class="playerhide"><embed src="http://www.xxx.com/shop/flash/player.swf?file=/mp3/Beat The Radar - Misunderstood What You Said.mp3&as=1" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="161" height="13" name="niftyPlayer662431" align="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" swLiveConnect="true" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed> Here is the javascript (i've got jquery installed to let me hide all the open players on this page apart from the new one) function toggle_visibility(id) { $('.playerhide').hide(); var e = document.getElementById(id); e.style.display = 'block'; } I think what I need to do is start the player manually with javascript (rather than using the autostart as=1 function in the URL string) There is some javascript that comes with NiftyPlayer to allow this EG niftyplayer('niftyPlayer1').play() there is also a stop method. I need some help with javascript - how do I add this call to play into my toggle_visibility function (it has the same unique ID number added to the name of the player as the ID of the div that's being shown, but I don't know how to pull this ID number out of one thing and put it in another) I also would like to be able to do niftyplayer('niftyPlayer1').stop() to stop the audio of the previously running player. Is it possible to store the current ID number somewhere and call it back when needed? Thanks for the help, i'm a PHP programmer who needs some support with Javascript - I know what I want to achieve, just don't know the commands to do it! Thanks

  • Managing logs/warnings in Python extensions

    - by Dimitri Tcaciuc
    TL;DR version: What do you use for configurable (and preferably captured) logging inside your C++ bits in a Python project? Details follow. Say you have a a few compiled .so modules that may need to do some error checking and warn user of (partially) incorrect data. Currently I'm having a pretty simplistic setup where I'm using logging framework from Python code and log4cxx library from C/C++. log4cxx log level is defined in a file (log4cxx.properties) and is currently fixed and I'm thinking how to make it more flexible. Couple of choices that I see: One way to control it would be to have a module-wide configuration call. # foo/__init__.py import sys from _foo import import bar, baz, configure_log configure_log(sys.stdout, WARNING) # tests/test_foo.py def test_foo(): # Maybe a custom context to change the logfile for # the module and restore it at the end. with CaptureLog(foo) as log: assert foo.bar() == 5 assert log.read() == "124.24 - foo - INFO - Bar returning 5" Have every compiled function that does logging accept optional log parameters. # foo.c int bar(PyObject* x, PyObject* logfile, PyObject* loglevel) { LoggerPtr logger = default_logger("foo"); if (logfile != Py_None) logger = file_logger(logfile, loglevel); ... } # tests/test_foo.py def test_foo(): with TemporaryFile() as logfile: assert foo.bar(logfile=logfile, loglevel=DEBUG) == 5 assert logfile.read() == "124.24 - foo - INFO - Bar returning 5" Some other way? Second one seems to be somewhat cleaner, but it requires function signature alteration (or using kwargs and parsing them). First one is.. probably somewhat awkward but sets up entire module in one go and removes logic from each individual function. What are your thoughts on this? I'm all ears to alternative solutions as well. Thanks,

  • How to find/extract data from xml with jQuery

    - by darryl
    I'm trying to extract the StateLongName and StateShortName values from the xml below. I know there has to be a simple elegant way to do this with jQuery. <NewDataSet> <Table> <StateLongName>Alabama</StateLongName> <StateShortName>AL</StateShortName> </Table> <Table> <StateLongName>Alaska</StateLongName> <StateShortName>AK</StateShortName> </Table> ...elments removed for brevity </NewDataSet> Here's what I've tried. Load the xml from above into a Javascript variable name xml. Try #1 $(xml).find("TABLE").each(function() { var stateName = $(this).find("StateLongName").innerText; var stateCode = $(this).find("StateShortName").innerText; }); Try #1 doesn't find anything and never goes inside to load the stateName and stateCode variables. Try #2 $(xml).find("StateLongName").each(function() { var stateName = $(this).find("StateLongName").innerText; var stateCode = $(this).find("StateShortName").innerText; }); Try #2 does find matches, however the stateName and stateCode are left undefined. Try #3 $(xml).find("StateLongName").each(function() { var stateName = $($(xml).find('StateLongName').parent()[0].innerHTML)[1].data; var stateCode = $($(xml).find('StateLongName').parent()[0].innerHTML)[5].data; }); Try #3 works but there has to be a better way. Please enlighten me. Thanks for you time!

  • Return Double from Boost thread

    - by Benedikt Wutzi
    Hi I have an Boost thread which should return a double. The function looks like this: void analyser::findup(const double startwl, const double max, double &myret){ this->data.begin(); for(int i = (int)data.size() ; i >= 0;i--){ if(this->data[i].lambda > startwl){ if(this->data[i].db >= (max-30)) { myret = this->data[i+1].lambda; std::cout <<"in thread " << myret << std::endl; return; } } } } this function is called by another function: void analyser::start_find_up(const double startwl, const double max){ double tmp = -42.0; boost::thread up(&analyser::findup,*this, startwl,max,tmp); std::cout << "before join " << tmp << std::endl; up.join(); std::cout << "after join " << tmp << std::endl; } Anyway I've tried and googled almost anything but i can't get it to return a value. The output looks like this right now. before join -42 in thread 843.487 after join -42 Thanks for any help.

  • How can I differentiate a manual scroll (via mousewheel/scrollbar) from a Javascript/jQuery scroll?

    - by David Murdoch
    UPDATE: Here is a jsbin example demonstrating the problem. Basically, I have the following javascript which scrolls the window to an anchor on the page: // get anchors with href's that start with "#" $("a[href^=#]").live("click", function(){ var target = $($(this).attr("href")); // if the target exists: scroll to it... if(target[0]){ // If the page isn't long enough to scroll to the target's position // we want to scroll as much as we can. This part prevents a sudden // stop when window.scrollTop reaches its maximum. var y = Math.min(target.offset().top, $(document).height() - $(window).height()); // also, don't try to scroll to a negative value... y=Math.max(y,0); // OK, you can scroll now... $("html,body").stop().animate({ "scrollTop": y }, 1000); } return false; }); It works perfectly......until I manually try to scroll the window. When the scrollbar or mousewheel is scrolled I need to stop the current scroll animation...but I'm not sure how to do this. This is probably my starting point... $(window).scroll(e){ if(IsManuallyScrolled(e)){ $("html,body").stop(); } } ...but I'm not sure how to code the IsManuallyScrolled function. I've checked out e (the event object) in Google Chrome's console and AFAIK there is not way to differentiate between a manual scroll and jQuery's animate() scroll. How can I differentiate between a manual scroll and one called via jQuery's $.fn.animate function?

  • contenteditable selected text save and restore

    - by alex
    I came across this post that shows 2 functions on how to save and restore selected text from a contenteditable div. I have the below div set as contenteditable and the 2 function from the other post. How to i use these functions to save and restore selected text. <div style="width:300px;padding:10px;" contenteditable="true">test test test test</div> <script> function saveSelection() { if (window.getSelection) { sel = window.getSelection(); if (sel.getRangeAt && sel.rangeCount) { return sel.getRangeAt(0); } } else if (document.selection && document.selection.createRange) { return document.selection.createRange(); } return null; } function restoreSelection(range) { if (range) { if (window.getSelection) { sel = window.getSelection(); sel.removeAllRanges(); sel.addRange(range); } else if (document.selection && range.select) { range.select(); } } } </script>

  • Access User Meta Data on User Registration in Wordpress

    - by Shadi Almosri
    Hiya, I am attempting to carry out a few functions when a user registers on a wordpress site. I have created a module for this which carries out the following function: add_action( 'user_register', 'tml_new_user_registered' ); function tml_new_user_registered( $user_id ) { //wp_set_auth_cookie( $user_id, false, is_ssl() ); //wp_redirect( admin_url( 'profile.php' ) ); $user_info = get_userdata($user_id); $subscription_value = get_user_meta( $user_id, "subscribe_to_newsletter", TRUE); if($subscription_value == "Yes") { //include("Subscriber.Add.php"); } echo "<pre>: "; print_r($user_info); print_r($subscription_value); echo "</pre>"; exit; } But it seems that i am not able to access any user meta data as at the end of this stage none of it is stored. Any ideas how i execute a function once Wordpress has completed the whole registration process of adding meta data into the relevant tables too? I attempted to use this: add_filter('user_register ','tml_new_user_registered',99); But with no luck unfortunately. Thanks in advance!

  • Tools to document/visualize call graph?

    - by Dave Griffiths
    Hi, having recently joined a project with a vast amount of code to get to grips with, I would like to start documenting and visualizing some of the flows through the call graph to give me a better understanding of how everything fits together. This is what I would like to see in my ideal tool: every node is a function/method nodes are connected if one function can call another optional square box in between detailing conditions under which call is made (or a label icon you can hover over like a tooltip) also icon on edge describing parameters hover over node and description is displayed optional icons for node to display pseudo code scenario/domain view - display subset of complete diagram for particular use-case slide view mode - for each frame, the currently executing function is highlighted plenty of options over what to display to reduce on-screen clutter the interactive use of such a tool is key, I'm not looking for a Graphviz type solution because there would be too much clutter. The ability to form a view of a subset of the entire graph would be very handy (maybe with the unimportant clutter greyed out). Don't need automatic generation from source code, happy to enter it manually. Almost like a mind-map. Does that make sense? If you are not aware of such a tool, do you also think it would be useful? (Just in case I decide to go and scratch that itch one day!)

  • Template compiling errors on iPhone SDK 3.2

    - by Didier Malenfant
    I'm porting over some templated code from Windows and I'm hitting some compiler differences on the iPhone 3.2 SDK. Original code inside a class template's member function is: return BinarySearch<uint32, CSimpleKey<T> >(key); where BinarySearch is a method inherited from another template. This produces the following error: csimplekeytable.h:131: error: no matching function for call to 'BinarySearch(NEngine::uint32&)' The visual studio compiler seems to walk up the template hierarchy fine but gcc needs me to fully qualify where the function comes from (I have verified this by fixing the same issues with template member variables that way). So I now need to change this into: return CSimpleTable<CSimpleKey<T> >::BinarySearch<uint32, CSimpleKey<T> >(key); Which now produces the following error: csimplekeytable.h:132: error: expected primary-expression before ',' token csimplekeytable.h:132: error: expected primary-expression before '>' token After some head scratching, I believe what's going on here is that it's trying to resolve the '<' before BinarySearch as a 'Less Than' operator for some reason. So two questions: - Am I on the right path with my interpretation of the error? - How do I fix it? -D

  • Why can't I get the value of this text input?

    - by Spilot
    It seems simple enough, but nothing I try is working. I have a jquery ui datepicker, I use val() to get the value of that input on button click(), then log it. The click event is working. I can log a string I write myself, but when I pass console.log() the variable that stores the datepicker value...nothing. I've tried using html() and text() instead of val(), still nothing //JS $(function(){ $("button").button(); $("#date").datepicker(); var date = $("#date").val(); $("button").click(function(){ // this logs console.log("event working"); // but this logs nothing console.log(date); });//close click });//closes function //HTML <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script src="http://www.parsecdn.com/js/parse-1.2.8.min.js"></script> <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/jquery-ui.js"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://myDomain/bn/lbStyle.css"/> <script src="http://myDomain/index.js"></script> <title> Welcome to The Bringer Network </title> </head> <body> <form id="dialog"> <p>Date <input type="text" id="date"/></p> <button>Submit</button> </form> </body> </html>

  • How to link jQuery UI datepicker functionality with a select list

    - by take2
    I'm trying to connect jQuery UI's datepicker with a select list. I have found one explanation on jQuery's Forum ( forum.jquery.com/topic/jquery-ui-datepicker-with-select-lists), but I can't get it working. There are input and select list both declared: <select id="selectMonth"><option value="01">Jan</option><option value="02">Feb</option> <option value="03">Mar</option><option value="04">Apr</option>...</select> <select id="selectDay"><option value="01">1</option><option value="02">2</option> <option value="03">3</option><option value="04">4</option>...</select> <select id="selectYear"><option value="2012">2012</option><option value="2013">2013</option> <option value="2014">2014</option>...</select> <p>Date: <input type="text" id="selectedDatepicker" /></p> This is the script: $(function() { $('#selectedDatepicker').datepicker({ beforeShow: readSelected, onSelect: updateSelected, minDate: new Date(2012, 1 - 1, 1), maxDate: new Date(2014, 12 - 1, 31), showOn: 'both', buttonImageOnly: true, buttonImage: 'img/calendar.gif'}); // Prepare to show a date picker linked to three select controls function readSelected() { $('#selectedDatepicker').val($('#selectMonth').val() + '/' + $('#selectDay').val() + '/' + $('#selectYear').val()); return {}; } // Update three select controls to match a date picker selection function updateSelected(date) { $('#selectMonth').val(date.substring(0, 2)); $('#selectDay').val(date.substring(3, 5)); $('#selectYear').val(date.substring(6, 10)); } }); And here is the fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/xKXZm/ They are not connected properly, the only "connected behaviour" is that when you click on the input button, it picks up the value of the select list. On the other hand, the select list never picks up the value of the input nor will the input pick up the value of the select list until you click on it.

  • JQuery Progress Bar Inline Text

    - by Craig
    Hello, I am trying to use the basic progress bar however I am unable to figure out the css/command to actually put some text inside the bar. I am using this progress bar: http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Progressbar however I am open to other ones if they are just as simple to implement. I want it to display in the left corner some static information and then a percentage of complete somewhere in the right section. All css I attempted to do just made the information display below or to the side of. As well I am unsure how to actually have this CSS change based on a JQuery method (new to JQuery). below is my actual JQuery. Don't try to understand the url value just assume it returns 0-100. <script type="text/javascript"> var url = "%%$protocol_url%%/bin/task_status?id=%%$tid%%&cmd=percent_done"; $(function() { var progress = 0; //alert("some value" + value, value); $("#progressbar").progressbar({ progress: 0 }); setTimeout(updateProgress, 500); }); function updateProgress() { var progress; $.get(url, function(data) { // data contains whatever that page returns if (data < 100) { $("#progressbar") .progressbar("option", "value", data); setTimeout(updateProgress, 500); } else { $("#progressbar") .progressbar("option", "value", 100); } }); } Thanks

  • Hiding <option>s in IE

    - by Mark
    I wrote this nifty function to filter select boxes when their value is changed... $.fn.cascade = function() { var opts = this.children('option'); var rel = this.attr('rel'); $('[name='+rel+']').change(function() { var val = $(this).val(); var disp = opts.filter('[rel='+val+']'); opts.filter(':visible').hide(); disp.show(); if(!disp.filter(':selected').length) { disp.filter(':first').attr('selected','selected'); } }).trigger('change'); return this; } It looks at the rel property, and if the element indicated by rel changes, then it filters the list to only show the options that have that value... for example, it works on HTML that looks like this: <select id="id-pickup_address-country" name="pickup_address-country"> <option selected="selected" value="CA">Canada </option> <option value="US">United States </option> </select> <select id="id-pickup_address-province" rel="pickup_address-country" name="pickup_address-province"> <option rel="CA" value="AB">Alberta </option> <option selected="selected" rel="CA" value="BC">British Columbia </option> <option rel="CA" value="MB">Manitoba </option>... </select> However, I just discovered it doesn't work properly in IE (of course!) which doesn't seem to allow you to hide options. How can I work around this?

  • How to clean completly select2 control?

    - by Candil
    I'm working with the awesome select2 control. I'm trying to clean and disable the select2 with the content too so I do this: $("#select2id").empty(); $("#select2id").select2("disable"); Ok, it works, but if i had a value selected all the items are removed, the control is disabled, but the selected value is still displayed. I want to clear all content so the placeholder would be showed. Here is a example I did where you can see the issue: http://jsfiddle.net/BSEXM/ HTML: <select id="sel" data-placeholder="This is my placeholder"> <option></option> <option value="a">hello</option> <option value="b">all</option> <option value="c">stack</option> <option value="c">overflow</option> </select> <br> <button id="pres">Disable and clear</button> <button id="ena">Enable</button> Code: $(document).ready(function () { $("#sel").select2(); $("#pres").click(function () { $("#sel").empty(); $("#sel").select2("disable"); }); $("#ena").click(function () { $("#sel").select2("enable"); }); }); CSS: #sel { margin: 20px; } Do you have any idea or advice to this?

  • How can I update a record using a correlated subquery?

    - by froadie
    I have a function that accepts one parameter and returns a table/resultset. I want to set a field in a table to the first result of that recordset, passing in one of the table's other fields as the parameter. If that's too complicated in words, the query looks something like this: UPDATE myTable SET myField = (SELECT TOP 1 myFunctionField FROM fn_doSomething(myOtherField) WHERE someCondition = 'something') WHERE someOtherCondition = 'somethingElse' In this example, myField and myOtherField are fields in myTable, and myFunctionField is a field return by fn_doSomething. This seems logical to me, but I'm getting the following strange error: 'myOtherField' is not a recognized OPTIMIZER LOCK HINTS option. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, and how I can accomplish this? *UPDATE: * Based on Anil Soman's answer, I realized that the function is expecting a string parameter and the field being passed is an integer. I'm not sure if this should be a problem as an explicit call to the function using an integer value works - e.g. fn_doSomething(12345) seems to automatically cast the number to an string. However, I tried to do an explicit cast: UPDATE myTable SET myField = (SELECT TOP 1 myFunctionField FROM fn_doSomething(CAST(myOtherField AS varchar(1000))) WHERE someCondition = 'something') WHERE someOtherCondition = 'somethingElse' Now I'm getting the following error: Line 5: Incorrect syntax near '('.

  • Am I going the right way to make login system secure with this simple password salting?

    - by LoVeSmItH
    I have two fields in login table password salt And I have this little function to generate salt function random_salt($h_algo="sha512"){ $salt1=uniqid(rand(),TRUE); $salt2=date("YmdHis").microtime(true); if(function_exists('dechex')){ $salt2=dechex($salt2); } $salt3=$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $salt=$salt1.$salt2.$salt3; if(function_exists('hash')){ $hash=(in_array($h_algo,hash_algos()))?$h_algo:"sha512"; $randomsalt=hash($hash,md5($salt)); //returns 128 character long hash if sha512 algorithm is used. }else{ $randomsalt=sha1(md5($salt)); //returns 40 characters long hash } return $randomsalt; } Now to create user password I have following $userinput=$_POST["password"] //don't bother about escaping, i have done it in my real project. $static_salt="THIS-3434-95456-IS-RANDOM-27883478274-SALT"; //some static hard to predict secret salt. $salt=random_salt(); //generates 128 character long hash. $password =sha1($salt.$userinput.$static_salt); $salt is saved in salt field of database and $password is saved in password field. My problem, In function random_salt(), I m having this FEELING that I'm just making things complicated while this may not generate secure salt as it should. Can someone throw me a light whether I m going in a right direction? P.S. I do have an idea about crypt functions and like such. Just want to know is my code okay? Thanks.

  • Jquery Cycle Lite plugin unable to see images that have been loaded by an AJAX call

    - by William Macdonald
    Hi, I am having problems using the jquery cycle lite plugin on some images that are added via AJAX. Here is the jquery code: $(function() { resizeWindow(); $(window).bind("resize", resizeWindow); $("#assignment-nav").accordion({ header: "h3", autoHeight: false }); $(".project").click(function() { // get the HTML and load into div $('.image-holder').empty(); var justTheNumber = $(this).attr('id').replace('project-',''); $.get("get_project_images.php", {project_id:justTheNumber}, function(data){ $('.image-holder').append(data); } ); $(".image-holder").cycle({ // Cycle plugin prev: '#prev', next: '#next', timeout: 0, speed: 250 }) }); }); My code works fine in that the IMG tags are loaded and the first image of the slide show is displayed. However the prev/next buttons don't work. When I load the images via static HTML the slideshow prev/next links works fine. (I just copied and pasted the generated HTML.) I understand I need to use something like .bind or .live to make the Cycle plugin 'see' the new images. I have tried everything I can think of but I can't make it work. What am I doing wrong ?

  • How can I get contentWindow for an Object element in IE7

    - by Scott Leis
    I have a HTML object element like this: <object title="Search results as XML" standby="Loading XML document..." type="text/xml" data="/__CA25761100195585.nsf/WebPrintListingXML?OpenAgent&date1=01/06/2009" width="100%" height="100%" border="0" name="resultIFrame" id="resultIFrame" Error: could not embed search results. </object I also have this javascript function (alert() calls added for debugging): function getFrameByName(fParent,fName) { var fArray=fParent.frames; if (!fName) return; if (fArray) { if (fArray.length) { for (var i=0; i<fArray.length; i++) { alert('loop '+i); if (fArray[i]) { if (fArray[i].name==fName) return fArray[i]; } } } } var tmp=document.getElementsByName(fName); if (tmp[0]) { alert('returning '+tmp[0]); if (!(tmp[0].contentWindow)) alert('contentWindow is null'); return tmp[0].contentWindow; } } And finally, this button is meant to print the content of the Object element: <input type="button" value="Print" name="printBtn" onclick="getFrameByName(window,'resultIFrame').print();" The button works perfectly in Firefox. Opera is good enough, though it prints the main document instead of just the object. IE7 gives the following error details: Line: 57 Char: 1 Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object Line 57 is where the button's "input" tag starts in the HTML source. Thanks to the alert('contentWindow is null') call in the JS function, I know that the object I'm getting in IE has no contentWindow property. I have tried changing the object tag to an iframe tag. This changes the JS behaviour, but causes other issues such as the height attribute being ignored and the content not displaying. Sticking with an object tag, how can I get this Object's window in IE7?

  • jQuery UI Rang Slider show divs based on selected range

    - by andi_sf
    I have set up a range slider that should show/hide divs based on their range values - meaning if the range of the one specifies in the div falls into the selected range in the slider it should show - the others hide. Somehow it does not work correctly - if anybody could help that would be greatly appreciated. My code so far: $("#slider").slider({ range: true, min: 150, max: 280, step: 5, values: [150, 280], slide: function(event, ui) { $("#amount").val('Min. Value' + ui.values[0] + ' - Max. Value' + ui.values[1]); }, change: function(event, ui) { $('#col-2 div').each(function(){ var valueS = parseInt($(this).attr("class")); var valueX = parseInt($(this).attr("title")); if (valueS < ui.values[0] && valueX <= ui.values[1] || valueS ui.values[0] && valueX = ui.values[1] ) { $(this).stop().animate({opacity: 0.25}, 500) } else { $(this).stop().animate({opacity: 1.0}, 500) $("#amount").val('Min. Value' + ui.values[0] + ' - Max. Value' + ui.values[1]); } }); } }); $("#amount").val('Min. Value' + $("#slider").slider("values", 0) + ' - Max. Value' + $("#slider").slider("values", 1)); }); I have also posted a sample at: http://www.webdesigneroakland.com/slider/444range_slider.html

  • Choosing between instance methods and separate functions?

    - by StackedCrooked
    Adding functionality to a class can be done by adding a method or by defining a function that takes an object as its first parameter. Most programmers that I know would choose for the solution of adding a instance method. However, I sometimes prefer to create a separate function. For example, in the example code below Area and Diagonal are defined as separate functions instead of methods. I find it better this way because I think these functions provide enhancements rather than core functionality. Is this considered a good/bad practice? If the answer is "it depends", then what are the rules for deciding between adding method or defining a separate function? class Rect { public: Rect(int x, int y, int w, int h) : mX(x), mY(y), mWidth(w), mHeight(h) { } int x() const { return mX; } int y() const { return mY; } int width() const { return mWidth; } int height() const { return mHeight; } private: int mX, mY, mWidth, mHeight; }; int Area(const Rect & inRect) { return inRect.width() * inRect.height(); } float Diagonal(const Rect & inRect) { return std::sqrt(std::pow(static_cast<float>(inRect.width()), 2) + std::pow(static_cast<float>(inRect.height()), 2)); }

  • MVC JsonResult not working with chrome?

    - by Karsten Detmold
    i want jquery to take a JsonResult from my MVC controller but it does'nt receive any data! If I put the output into a textfile and enter its link its working so I think my jQuery is fine. Then I was testing with other browsers like chrome and I saw NOTHING. The requested page was just emtpy.. no errors. Also IE seems to have problems receiving my string.. only firefox displays the string but why? public JsonResult jsonLastRequests() { List<Request> requests = new List<Request>(); while (r.Read()) { requests.Add(new Models.Request() { ID = (int)r[0], SiteID = r[1].ToString(), Lat = r[2].ToString(), City = r[4].ToString(), CreationTime = (DateTime)r[5] }); } r.Close(); return Json(requests); } I found out that also if I want to return the JSON as string its not working! Its working with a string in all browsers now.. but jQuery is still not loading anything var url = "http://../jsonLastRequests"; var source = { datatype: "json", datafields: [ { name: 'ID' }, { name: 'SiteID' }, { name: 'Lat' }, { name: 'CreationTime' }, { name: 'City' }, ], id: 'id', url: url }; var dataAdapter = new $.jqx.dataAdapter(source, { downloadComplete: function (data, status, xhr) { }, loadComplete: function (data) { }, loadError: function (xhr, status, error) { } }); I fixed my problem by adding: access-control-allow-origin:*

  • How to have multiple instances of jQuery plugin on single page?

    - by James Skidmore
    I'm writing a simple jQuery plugin, but I'm having trouble being able to use multiple instances on a page. For instance, here is a sample plugin to illustrate my point: (function($) { $.fn.samplePlugin = function(options) { if (typeof foo != 'undefined') { alert('Already defined!'); } else { var foo = 'bar'; } }; })(jQuery); And then if I do this: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#myDiv').samplePlugin({}); // does nothing $('#myDiv2').samplePlugion({}); // alerts "Already defined!" }); This is obviously an over-simplified example to get across the point. So my question is, how do I have two separate instances of the plugin? I'd like to be able to use it across multiple instances on the same page. I'm guessing that part of the problem might be with defining the variables in a global scope. How can I define them unique to that instance of the plugin then? Thank you for your guidance!

  • DD_belatedPNG.js - how to access the vml object? this is for a PNG image-swap.

    - by akc
    I am trying to use Drew Dillard's awesome DD_belatedPNG fix + jQuery to achieve a run-of-the-mill image-swap on hover -- but with PNGs, and to work on IE6. Example: <a id="thelink" href="blah.html"><img src="f-u-ie6.png" /></a> Since DD's script sets the visibility of the original image to "hidden", you can't effectively hover over it. A lot of people, I have noticed, are thwarted by this limitation. Enough so that Drew mentioned he would try to get a work-around into the next version of his PNG fix. Well, in the meantime, I thought I could get around this by handling the hover event on the image's parent instead. So onmouseover, I would hide the VML object created by DD_belatedPNG while setting a background image on "thelink", and onmouseout, show the VML object again and set the background image to nothing. The following code was just to see if I could access the VML object, but it does not work on the VML. It hides all manner of other children, but not the VML. Any ideas? $(document).ready(function(){ $("thelink").hover(function() { $(this).children().attr({ style: "visibility:hidden" }); }, function() { $(this).children().attr({ style: "visibility:visible" }); }); }); Alternatively, can anyone suggest a great PNG image-swap method? I know that you can swap a background image of a link. But you still need to have something inside the A tag. That's not my case. Also, you could put a transparent GIF in the A tag and have the background image swapped to achieve the effect, but I really don't want to do that. Thanks for your insights!
