  • Pretty photo ibox doesn't trigger after appending new element in HTML

    - by user1469133
    I'm trying to get prettyPhoto or some other jquery plugin to work after I append new element to the HTML page: to be specific I have this: $(document).ready(function() { $(window).scroll(function() { if($(window).scroll) { $('div#loadMoreComments').show(); $.ajax({ type : "POST", url : "getvariables.php", dataType: "json", data : { webid: $(".posts:last").attr('id') } }).done(function( msg ) { jQuery.each(msg , function(index, value){ $("#posts").append(value); }); // $("#posts").append(msg); $('div#loadmore').hide(); }); } }); }); Then I have something like this that has to trigger the popup <p><a href="#inline-1" rel="ibox">Trigger popup.</a></p> <div id="inline-1" style="display: none;"> Content to show up after the link is triggered </div> Will appreciate any help over this. Thanks.

  • Emulating Preference look/feel with LinearLayout

    - by colinodell
    I really like the look and feel of the Preference UI items and want to replicate that in my application. Basically I've got an Activity with a couple LinearLayouts set to be focusable. When they are focused, I want them to turn green (like Preferences do). Any idea how to apply that style to my LinearLayouts? Note: The LinearLayouts are essentially going to be clickable 'buttons' to launch a separate activity. They are NOT actual preferences or buttons, although they need to look/act similar to them.)

  • portable way to deal with 64/32 bit time_t

    - by MK
    I have some code which is built both on Windows and Linux. Linux at this point is always 32bit but Windows is 32 and 64bit. Windows wants to have time_t be 64 bit and Linux still has it as 32 bit. I'm fine with that, except in some places time_t values are converted to strings. So when time_T is 32 bit it should be done with %d and when it is 64bit with %lld... what is the smart way to do this? Also: any ideas how I may find all places where time_t's are passed to printf-style functions to address this issue?

  • Is there a need for zero-out DIV's margin and padding?

    - by ssg
    I wonder if on any browser div element comes with a preset margin/padding value other than zero. As far as I know, div and span come with zero padding and margin values by standard to make them suitable canvas for style decoration. Even better, is there a definite standard for default styles for all elements that is cross-browser which we can make assumptions upon? For instance FORM comes with top/bottom margins, OL/UL come with padding-left's. I occasionally see a * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } and this just looks like a dirty hack without knowing the reasons or consequences. Anyone has any better approach to this?

  • How to make a slide gesture in a view?

    - by AedonEtLIRA
    I have a grid layout that holds a limited 6 items per screen. This set number is just a base for the app and make it look and feel better so it must stay set to that. To get passed this and to add some flash to the app, I want to animate a style of screen change. For instance, when a finger is dragged left, push the current view to the side and bring the next it, very similar to how a gallery does it, except I would like it to be able to scroll vertical as well. Any help or tutorials will be appreciated ~Aedon.

  • PHP HTML variable

    - by Abakiz Myth
    In Coldfusion we have the variable: <cfsavecontent name="HTML_content"> <div class="test_div" style="color:#FFF;">Test</div> </cfsavecontent> Within PHP there seems to be no way of doing this without some really hacky function or escaping double quotes. I'm trying to create emails (large html documents) within the same page by saving the email content and simply mailing it but it seems like there's no way of doing this within PHP without using $var = "\"crap\""; Can somebody point me in the right direction?

  • How do I add line-heigh to a <select> using jQuery?

    - by Rohan
    I have a element <select name="dropdown" id="dropdown"> <option>Option 1</option> <option>Option 2</option> <option>Option 3</option> <option>Option 4</option> </select> Now if I add a CSS line-height property to the dropdown, it doesn't work. How would I use jQuery to style this? I prefer not to use plugins, because this is the only styling I wish to apply.

  • Buttons size not equal in IE and Firefox

    - by Anurag
    I have few buttons on my jsp page and I am using the style as : .buttonblue { background-color: #003366; border-color: #99CCFF; color: #FFFFFF; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica; font-size: 8pt; font-weight: bold; height: 20px; display:inline; line-height: 1.2; text-align: center; margin-top: 2px; } In Firefox the buttons are bit smaller than IE6.   • Why does the :nth-child(2) selector work on what I expect to be :first-child?

    - by Ben
    I have an example of what I'm trying to ask. I use this kind of format often. I'd expect to be able to select that first div with fieldset div:first-child { } but it seems that it's only grabbed by the 2nd child selector. I would expect "field 1" to be red and not blue. It makes more sense semantically (to me at least) to say "style the first div in the fieldset like so" instead of saying the 2nd. Why is this happening and is there a way to achieve the effect I want (to be able to call div:first-child)?

  • Display indented XML code within a HTML page

    - by Efrain
    I have a programmatically created HTML document on which I would like to show some XML-code, fully formatted with line breaks and tabulators. That is, it should look like if you drag an xml file without a xml-stylesheet directly onto your browser (most browsers do some kind of xml-rendering with some default style sheet). Now, I can of course escape all the characters (like <>, tab and newline) and do the indenting myself (using css styles, for example), but I was wondering whether I couldn't re-use some 'default' xml-stylesheet from somewhere. Preferrably also one that has some javascript node-folding, too. Do you know such a stylesheet/xslt? Or would you suggest another way to achieve this? I'm using C#. PS: I tried to use the XmlNotepad.DefaultSS.xslt from Microsoft's XmlNotepad, but I couldn't really get that working. :T

  • C++ assignment - stylish or performance?

    - by joejax
    Having been writing Java code for many years, I was amazed when I see this C++ statement: int a,b; int c = (a=1, b=a+2, b*3); My question is: Is this a choice of coding style, or it has real benefit? (looking for a practicle use case) I think the compiler will see it the same as following: int a=1, b=a+2; int c = b*3; (What's the offical name for this? I assume it's a standard C/C++ syntax.)

  • Styled Javascript Popup that Connects to Database

    - by user269799
    I want to create a javascript popup box that contains text fields. I want to be able to style this box - using CSS - and I want the textfield entries to be Inserted into a MySQL database. Is this possible? I would be familiar with doing this through web forms and server side scripting but I need it to be a bit more client side this time to make things seem a bit faster. I am thinking I may need to learn some AJAX but any pointers would be a help. GF

  • How to make a div expand vertically to wrpa the content within it?

    - by MalcomTucker
    I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> ..... How do I get the block div to extend down with the images? Thanks

  • Why is this javascript function so slow on Firefox?

    - by macrael
    This function was adapted from the website: http://eriwen.com/javascript/measure-ems-for-layout/ function getEmSize(el) { var tempDiv = document.createElement("div"); tempDiv.style.height = "1em"; el.appendChild(tempDiv); var emSize = tempDiv.offsetHeight; el.removeChild(tempDiv); return emSize; } I am running this function as part of another function on window.resize, and it is causing performance problems on Firefox 3.6 that do not exist on current Safari or Chrome. Firefox's profiler says I'm spending the most time in this function and I'm curious as to why that is. Is there a way to get the em size in javascript without doing all this work? I would like to recalculate the size on resize incase the user has changed it.

  • Where do you hang your semantic information, html?

    - by bobobobo
    Well, I keep putting semantic information about what an element means for the page logically in the class attribute <li class="phone-number">555-5555</li> It seems to work for this dual purpose of hanging semantic information and a pointer to how to style it. I'm not sure if this is the best idea, I'm trying to see if others have other ways of doing it. I also started to use a hidden input: <li>555-5555 <input class="semantics" type="hidden" value="phone-number" /></li> inside an element, so with jQuery, I can retrieve additional information about the element using li.find( '.semantics' ).val() To get an element's semantics from JavaScript

  • letting absoltuely positioned area grow

    - by JCHASE11
    Please see this page for reference: test page I am designing a site that has a sidebar that contains an accordion style vertical nav bar. The sidebar which contains this accordion is absolutely positioned, relative to the container that holds it. I did this so the sidebar would stay sticky to the top, bottom, and side. When you click the products button, the accordion expands well past the container, overflowing into the footer. If I floated the sidebar to the left, it would grow to accommodate the entire sidebar, but it wouldn't be sticky to the bottom of the container by default. I need a solution that allows the sidebar to be absolutely positioned, and allow growth if the accordion expands. Any Ideas? Jquery solution perhaps?

  • python [lxml] - cleaning out html tags

    - by sadhu_
    from lxml.html.clean import clean_html, Cleaner def clean(text): try: cleaner = Cleaner(scripts=True, embedded=True, meta=True, page_structure=True, links=True, style=True, remove_tags = ['a', 'li', 'td']) print (len(cleaner.clean_html(text))- len(text)) return cleaner.clean_html(text) except: print 'Error in clean_html' print sys.exc_info() return text I put together the above (ugly) code as my initial forays into python land. I'm trying to use lxml cleaner to clean out a couple of html pages, so in the end i am just left with the text and nothing else - but try as i might, the above doesnt appear to work as such, i'm still left with a substial amount of markup (and it doesnt appear to be broken html), and particularly links, which aren't getting removed, despite the args i use in remove_tags and links=True any idea whats going on, perhaps im barking up the wrong tree with lxml ? i thought this was the way to go with html parsing in python?

  • Better way to find Class in event.target parentnodes using jquery and javascript?

    - by Cama
    Currently, I check the target of the input box keyup event to see if it is contained within a div wit class "editorRow" using: var $parentClass = event.target.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.className; Is there a better way to do this in case extra markup is added between the div and the span tags? <div class="editorRow"> <li> <span class="wi1"> <input type="text" value="" style="width: 80px;" name="LineItems9" id="LineItems_9"> </span> </li> </div>   $("input").live("keyup", function(event) { return GiveDynamicFieldsLife(event); }); function GiveDynamicFieldsLife(event) { **var $parentClass = event.target.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.className;** if ($parentClass == "editorRow") { //Do Stuff } }

  • Game Objects Talking To Each Other

    - by PhilCK
    What is a good way of dealing with objects and having them talk to each other? Up until now all my games hobby/student have been small so this problem was generally solved in a rather ugly way, which lead to tight integration and circular dependencies. Which was fine for the size of projects I was doing. However my projects have been getting bigger in size and complexity and now I want to start re-using code, and making my head a simpler place. The main problem I have is generally along the lines of Player needs to know about the Map and so does the Enemy, this has usually descended into setting lots of pointers and having lots of dependencies, and this becomes a mess quickly. I have thought along the lines of a message style system. but I cant really see how this reduces the dependencies, as I would still be sending the pointers everywhere. Thanks. PS: I guess this has been discussed before, but I don't know what its called just the need I have.

  • autosave pattern

    - by Mark
    I'm using localstorage to do gmail-style autosave on a webpage. So I basically save every 30 seconds to local, OK. The problem is recovery. I can't detect whether or not a user has crashed or incorrectly exited. So let's say the user crashed and loads up the form again, I can't just continue saving and overwriting the previous autosaves. I need to restore the previous save. But let's say the user didn't crash. He did everything correctly, but then used a different browser to edit the same file, so no new data to the previous browser's localstorage. He then loads up the file in the previous browser. The localstorage should not be restored in that case. Assuming there's no way to compare timestamps, how can I solve this problem? Thanks.
