  • AlarmManager doesn't start the alarm on time

    - by user988635
I try to use AlarmManager to setup an alarm that happens after some seconds from now. Here is my code: AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager)context.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE); Intent intent = new Intent(ALARM_ACTION); PendingIntent alarmIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(getBaseContext(), 0, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT); Calendar rightNow = Calendar.getInstance(); rightNow.add(Calendar.SECOND, NumOfSecond); am.set(AlarmManager.RTC, rightNow.getTimeInMillis(), alarmIntent); For example, if rightNow is 8:00AM and I hope my alarm happens after 14400 seconds, that is 12:00PM, so NumOfSecond will be set as 14400. But when the code runs what happens is the alarm not always happens exactly at 12:00PM, sometimes it will be delayed by 1 or 2 minutes, or even 5 minutes! Does any one know what the heck is happened here?

  • MediaPlayer PVMFFailure

    - by kpdvx
Playing mp3s with the MediaPlayer object, I occasionally get the error "Command PLAYER_INIT completed with an error or info PVMFFailure." Curiously the MediaPlayer documentation doesn't reference this error at all. Anyone familiar with this error and could shed some light on its cause?

    - by Amalan Dhananjayan
This worked when the Glass in on XE12, I have opened the solution after about 2 Months and now with XE17 the menu items are not shown when tapped on the Live card, instead the live card is disappearing. I have updated the GDK, I have changed the code to support the latest GDK sneak peek version 2 changes according to this (https://developers.google.com/glass/release-notes#xe12) This is the code public class MenuActivity extends Activity { private static final String TAG = MenuActivity.class.getSimpleName(); private VisionService.VisionBinder mVisionService; private ServiceConnection mConnection = new ServiceConnection() { @Override public void onServiceConnected(ComponentName name, IBinder service) { if (service instanceof VisionService.VisionBinder) { mVisionService = (VisionService.VisionBinder) service; openOptionsMenu(); } // No need to keep the service bound. unbindService(this); } @Override public void onServiceDisconnected(ComponentName name) { } }; private boolean mResumed; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); bindService(new Intent(this, VisionService.class), mConnection, 0); } @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); mResumed = true; openOptionsMenu(); } @Override protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); mResumed = false; } @Override public void openOptionsMenu() { if (mResumed && mConnection != null) { super.openOptionsMenu(); } } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.menu, menu); return true; } @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { int id = item.getItemId(); if (id == R.id.action_send) { mVisionService.requestWorkOrderCard(); finish(); return true; } else if (id == R.id.action_refresh) { mVisionService.requestTopWorkOrders(); finish(); return true; } else if (id == R.id.action_finish) { stopService(new Intent(this, VisionService.class)); finish(); return true; } else { return super.onOptionsItemSelected(item); } } @Override public void onOptionsMenuClosed(Menu menu) { super.onOptionsMenuClosed(menu); } } It would be great if any body could help on this. Thank You

  • How often to run getWritableDatabase() and getReadableDatabase()?

    - by jawonlee
I'm writing a Service, a Content Provider, and one or more apps. The Service writes new data to the Content Provider's SQLite database every 5 minutes or so plus at user input, and is intended to run pretty much forever in the background. The app, when running, will display data pulled from the Content Provider, and will be refreshed whenever the Service puts more data into the Content Provider's database. Given that the Service only inserts into the database once every five minutes, when is the right time to call SQLiteOpenHelper's getWritableDatabase() / getReadableDatabase()? Is it on the onCreate() of the Content Provider, or should I run it every time there is an insert() and close it at the end of insert()? The data being inserted every 5 minutes will contain multiple inserts.

I am using three buttons along with the list view. These three buttons are added to the layout using the TableRow.The first button takes more space on content, so the other two becomes smaller in size than first one. When the application runs, it doesn't even show the two other buttons. How can I make the size of three buttons equal and display all of them when application runs?

  • opengl es render but dont show on display

    - by Sponge
i have written a object selection algorithm which picks the objects by there color. i give every object an unique color and then i just have to use the glReadPixels method to check which object was selected this works fine and is really fast but the problem is that the frame is displayed on the screen with all the picking-colors so the screen flashes every time you select something. so my question is: how do i write everything in the correct display buffer but dont display it on the screen to avoid these flashes?

  • Programmatically Download Image to Desktop from Remote App with Ruby?

    - by viatropos
I was thinking about making a little crop/resize batch processor online, and wanted to know if there was a way for me to do the following: upload image and specify dimensions click "process" and app resizes image image downloads automatically to wherever it was I uploaded it (say from my desktop), but with a new name (based on the time for example). This would make it so I could host a free image processor that never stored any data other than tempfiles. Is that possible? Something like Rails' send_file method, but I'm using Sinatra and am looking for something in pure ruby.

  • Trying to filter a ListView with runQueryOnBackgroundThread but nothing happens - what am I missing?

    - by Ian Leslie
I have a list of countries in a database. I have created a select country activity that consists of a edit box for filtering and a list which displays the flag and country name. When the activity starts the list shows the entire list of countries sorted alphabetically - works fine. When the customer starts typing into the search box I want the list to be filtered based on their typing. My database query was previously working in an AutoCompleteView (I just want to switch to a separate text box and list) so I know my full query and my constraint query are working. What I did was add a TextWatcher to the EditText view and every time the text is changed I invoke the list's SimpleCursorAdapter runQueryOnBackgroundThread with the edit boxes text as the constraint. The trouble is the list is never updated. I have set breakpoints in the debugger and the TextWatcher does make the call to runQueryOnBackgroundThread and my FilterQueryProvider is called with the expected constraint. The database query goes fine and the cursor is returned. The cursor adapter has a filter query provider set (and a view binder to display the flag): SimpleCursorAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter (this, R.layout.country_list_row, countryCursor, from, to); adapter.setFilterQueryProvider (new CountryFilterProvider ()); adapter.setViewBinder (new FlagViewBinder ()); The FitlerQueryProvider: private final class CountryFilterProvider implements FilterQueryProvider { @Override public Cursor runQuery (CharSequence constraint) { Cursor countryCursor = myDbHelper.getCountryList (constraint); startManagingCursor (countryCursor); return countryCursor; } } And the EditText has a TextWatcher: myCountrySearchText = (EditText)findViewById (R.id.entry); myCountrySearchText.setHint (R.string.country_hint); myCountrySearchText.addTextChangedListener (new TextWatcher() { @Override public void afterTextChanged (Editable s) { SimpleCursorAdapter filterAdapter = (SimpleCursorAdapter)myCountryList.getAdapter (); filterAdapter.runQueryOnBackgroundThread (s.toString ()); } @Override public void onTextChanged (CharSequence s, int start, int before, int count) { // no work to do } @Override public void beforeTextChanged (CharSequence s, int start, int count, int after) { // no work to do } }); The query for the database looks like this: public Cursor getCountryList (CharSequence constraint) { if (constraint == null || constraint.length () == 0) { // Return the full list of countries return myDataBase.query (DATABASE_COUNTRY_TABLE, new String[] { KEY_ROWID, KEY_COUNTRYNAME, KEY_COUNTRYCODE }, null, null, null, null, KEY_COUNTRYNAME); } else { // Return a list of countries who's name contains the passed in constraint return myDataBase.query (DATABASE_COUNTRY_TABLE, new String[] { KEY_ROWID, KEY_COUNTRYNAME, KEY_COUNTRYCODE }, "Country like '%" + constraint.toString () + "%'", null, null, null, "CASE WHEN Country like '" + constraint.toString () + "%' THEN 0 ELSE 1 END, Country"); } } It just seems like there is a missing link somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ian

  • getAssetFileDescriptor from ZipResourceFile merges all mp3 in mediaplayer SOLVED

    - by Jordi
I've a program with an Expansion file that stores 4 mp3 in a obb file (zip without compression). I can retrieve the data, but instead of taking the audio file i asked for, it merges ALL audio files in the same AssetFileDescriptor. ---SOLVED--- with the fixes Support class public AssetFileDescriptor getaudio(){ ZipResourceFile expansionFile = APKExpansionSupport.getAPKExpansionZipFile(c,21,21); AssetFileDescriptor afd=null; if(take==1) { afd = expansionFile.getAssetFileDescriptor("file01.mp3"); }else if(take==2 { afd = expansionFile.getAssetFileDescriptor("file02.mp3"); } //more els eif ............ return afd; } In the MediaPlayer class AssetFileDescriptor fd = Llistat.getInstance().getAudio(); mPlayer.setDataSource(fd.getFileDescriptor(), fd.getStartOffset(),fd.getLength()); mPlayer.prepare(); fd.close(); My problem was that i directly was returning and using a FileDescriptor, while i was needing the AssetFileDescriptor to take its StartOffset and Length.

  • Python Tkinter comparing PhotoImage objects

    - by Kyle Schmidt
In a simple LightsOut game, when I click on a light I need to toggle the image on a button. I'm doing this with Tkinter, so I thought I'd just check and see what image is currently on the button (either 'on.gif' or 'off.gif') and set it to the other one, like this: def click(self,x,y): if self.buttons[x][y].image == self.on: self.buttons[x][y].config(image=self.off) self.buttons[x][y].image == self.off else: self.buttons[x][y].config(image=self.on) self.buttons[x][y].image == self.on This ends up always being True - I can turn a lgiht off, but never turn it back on. Did some research, realized that I should probably be using cmp: def click(self,x,y): if cmp(self.buttons[x][y].image,self.on) == 0: self.buttons[x][y].config(image=self.off) self.buttons[x][y].image == self.off else: self.buttons[x][y].config(image=self.on) self.buttons[x][y].image == self.on But that gave me the exact same result. Both self.on and self.off are PhotoImage objects. Aside from keeping a separate set of lists which tracks what type of light is in each position and redrawing them every click, is there a way to directly compare two PhotoImage objects like this?

  • NullPointerException using EndlessAdapter with SimpleAdapter

    - by android_dev
    Hello, I am using EndlessAdapter from commonsguy with a SimpleAdapter. I can load data when I make a scroll down without problems, but I have a NullPointerException when I make a scroll up. The problem is in the method @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView,ViewGroup parent) { return wrapped.getView(position, convertView, parent); } from the class AdapterWrapper. The call to wrapped.getView(position, convertView,parent) raises the exception and I don´t know why. This is my implementation of EndlessAdapter: //Inner class in SearchTextActivity class DemoAdapter extends EndlessAdapter { private RotateAnimation rotate = null; DemoAdapter(ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result) { super(new SimpleAdapter(SearchTracksActivity.this, result, R.layout.textlist_item, PROJECTION_COLUMNS, VIEW_MAPPINGS)); rotate = new RotateAnimation( 0f, 360f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f); rotate.setDuration(600); rotate.setRepeatMode(Animation.RESTART); rotate.setRepeatCount(Animation.INFINITE); } @Override protected View getPendingView(ViewGroup parent) { View row=getLayoutInflater().inflate(R.layout.textlist_item, null); View child=row.findViewById(R.id.title); child.setVisibility(View.GONE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.username); child.setVisibility(View.GONE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.throbber); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); child.startAnimation(rotate); return row; } @Override @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") protected void rebindPendingView(int position, View row) { HashMap<String, String> res = (HashMap<String, String>)getWrappedAdapter().getItem(position); View child=row.findViewById(R.id.title); ((TextView)child).setText(res.get("title")); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.username); ((TextView)child).setText(res.get("username")); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); ImageView throbber=(ImageView)row.findViewById(R.id.throbber); throbber.setVisibility(View.GONE); throbber.clearAnimation(); } boolean mFinal = true; @Override protected boolean cacheInBackground() { EditText searchText = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.searchText); String textToSearch = searchText.getText().toString(); Util.getSc().searchText(textToSearch , offset, limit, new ResultListener<ArrayList<Text>>() { @Override public void onError(Exception e) { e.toString(); mFinal = false; } @Override public void onSuccess(ArrayList<Text> result) { if(result.size() == 0){ mFinal = false; }else{ texts.addAll(result); offset++; } } }); return mFinal; } @Override protected void appendCachedData() { for(Text text : texts){ result.add(text.getMapValues()); } texts.clear(); } } And I use it this way: public class SearchTextActivity extends AbstractListActivity { private static final String[] PROJECTION_COLUMNS = new String[] { TextStore.Text.TITLE, TextStore.Text.USER_NAME}; private static final int[] VIEW_MAPPINGS = new int[] { R.id.Text_title, R.id.Text_username}; ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result; static ArrayList<Text> texts; static int offset = 0; static int limit = 1; @Override void onAbstractCreate(Bundle savedInstance) { setContentView(R.layout.search_tracks); setupViews(); } private void setupViews() { ImageButton searchButton = (ImageButton)findViewById(R.id.searchButton); updateView(); } SimpleAdapter adapter; void updateView(){ if(result == null) { result = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); } if(tracks == null) { texts = new ArrayList<Text>(); } } public void sendQuery(View v){ offset = 0; texts.clear(); result.clear(); setListAdapter(new DemoAdapter(result)); } } Does anybody knows what could be the problem? Thank you in advance

  • Androids ExpandableListView - where to put the button listener for buttons that are children

    - by CommonKnowledge
I have been playing around a lot with the ExpandableListView and I cannot figure out where to add the button listeners for the button that will be the children in the view. I did manage to get a button listener working that uses getChildView() below, but it seems to be the same listener for all the buttons. The best case scenario is that I would be able to implement the button listeners in the class that instantiates the ExpandableListAdapter class, and not have to put the listeners in the actual ExpandableListAdapter class. At this point I don't even know if that is possible I have been experimenting with this tutorial/code: HERE getChildView() @Override public View getChildView(int set_new, int child_position, boolean view, View view1, ViewGroup view_group1) { ChildHolder childHolder; if (view1 == null) { view1 = LayoutInflater.from(info_context).inflate(R.layout.list_group_item_lv, null); childHolder = new ChildHolder(); childHolder.section_btn = (Button)view1.findViewById(R.id.item_title); view1.setTag(childHolder); childHolder.section_btn.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { Toast.makeText(info_context, "button pushed", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } }); }else { childHolder = (ChildHolder) view1.getTag(); } childHolder.section_btn.setText(children_collection.get(set_new).GroupItemCollection.get(child_position).section); Typeface tf = Typeface.createFromAsset(info_context.getAssets(), "fonts/AGENCYR.TTF"); childHolder.section_btn.setTypeface(tf); return view1; } Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you and I will be standing by.

  • Trying to get Package Version Information to display in an "About" message.

    - by user313135
Hello, I have been struggling with getting the versionName for a running application from the PackageInfo Object type. I have constructed a Parcelable Interface with all of the fields associated with the PackageInfo Object type. The primary input for that interface method is a Parcel object. I cannot seem to figure out how to correctly associate these Parcelable, Parcel, and PackageInfo objects. Is there any sample code out there that I can look at? Doesn't seem like it should be that difficult but it seems to be stumping me. Thanks Jazz

  • How can you tell if an activities state is stored?

    - by Joren
I have an activity which pulls some JSON from my server, and then uses it to draw a list. That list launches further activities. My problem is that I can't figure out a way to tell if the activity is still alive when you go back to it, so I end up re-querying my JSON from the server and redrawing the list every time the user goes back to the activity. How can I tell if my activity is still alive so I can skip the redraw?
