  • Class constructor in java

    - by aladine
    Please advise me the difference between two ways of declaration of java constructor public class A{ private static A instance = new A(); public static A getInstance() { return instance; } public static void main(String[] args) { A a= A.getInstance(); } } AND public class B{ public B(){}; public static void main(String[] args) { B b= new B(); } } Thanks

  • C# equivalent of NaN or IsNumeric

    - by johnc
    This seems like a fairly simple question, and I'm surprised not to have required it before. What is the most efficient way of testing a string input is a numeric (or conversely Not A Number). I guess I can do a Double.Parse or a regex (see below) public static bool IsNumeric(this string value) { return Regex.IsMatch(value, "^\\d+$"); } but I was wondering if there was a implemented way to do it, such as javascript's NaN() or IsNumeric() (was that VB, I can't remember).

  • Doubt with c# handlers?

    - by aF
    I have this code in c# public void startRecognition(string pName) { presentationName = pName; if (WaveNative.waveInGetNumDevs() > 0) { string grammar = System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("PUBLIC") + "\\SoundLog\\Presentations\\" + presentationName + "\\SpeechRecognition\\soundlog.cfg"; /* if (File.Exists(grammar)) { File.Delete(grammar); } executeCommand();*/ recContext = new SpSharedRecoContextClass(); recContext.CreateGrammar(0, out recGrammar); if (File.Exists(grammar)) { recGrammar.LoadCmdFromFile(grammar, SPLOADOPTIONS.SPLO_STATIC); recGrammar.SetGrammarState(SPGRAMMARSTATE.SPGS_ENABLED); recGrammar.SetRuleIdState(0, SPRULESTATE.SPRS_ACTIVE); } recContext.Recognition += new _ISpeechRecoContextEvents_RecognitionEventHandler(handleRecognition); //recContext.RecognitionForOtherContext += new _ISpeechRecoContextEvents_RecognitionForOtherContextEventHandler(handleRecognition); //System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("olari"); } } private void handleRecognition(int StreamNumber, object StreamPosition, SpeechLib.SpeechRecognitionType RecognitionType, SpeechLib.ISpeechRecoResult Result) { System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("entrei"); string temp = Result.PhraseInfo.GetText(0, -1, true); _recognizedText = ""; foreach (string word in recognizedWords) { if (temp.Contains(word)) { _recognizedText = word; } } } public void run() { if (File.Exists(System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("PUBLIC") + "\\SoundLog\\Serialization\\Voices\\identifiedVoicesDLL.txt")) { deserializer = new XmlSerializer(_identifiedVoices.GetType()); FileStream fs = new FileStream(System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("PUBLIC") + "\\SoundLog\\Serialization\\Voices\\identifiedVoicesDLL.txt", FileMode.Open); Object o = deserializer.Deserialize(fs); fs.Close(); _identifiedVoices = (double[])o; } if (File.Exists(System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("PUBLIC") + "\\SoundLog\\Serialization\\Voices\\deletedVoicesDLL.txt")) { deserializer = new XmlSerializer(_deletedVoices.GetType()); FileStream fs = new FileStream(System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("PUBLIC") + "\\SoundLog\\Serialization\\Voices\\deletedVoicesDLL.txt", FileMode.Open); Object o = deserializer.Deserialize(fs); fs.Close(); _deletedVoices = (ArrayList)o; } myTimer.Interval = 5000; myTimer.Tick += new EventHandler(clearData); myTimer.Start(); if (WaveNative.waveInGetNumDevs() > 0) { _waveFormat = new WaveFormat(_samples, 16, 2); _recorder = new WaveInRecorder(-1, _waveFormat, 8192 * 2, 3, new BufferDoneEventHandler(DataArrived)); _scaleHz = (double)_samples / _fftLength; _limit = (int)((double)_limitVoice / _scaleHz); SoundLogDLL.MelFrequencyCepstrumCoefficients.calculateFrequencies(_samples, _fftLength); } } startRecognition is a method for Speech Recognition that load a grammar and makes the recognition handler here: recContext.Recognition += new _ISpeechRecoContextEvents_RecognitionEventHandler(handleRecognition); Now I have a problem, when I call the method startRecognition before method run, both handlers (the recognition one and the handler for the Tick) work well. If a word is recognized, handlerRecognition method is called. But, when I call the method run before the method startRecognition, both methods seem to run well but then the recognition Handler is never executed! Even when I see that words are recognized (because they happear on the Windows Speech Recognition app). What can I do for the recognition handler be allways called?

  • VB.net Color one part of text -- Listbox

    - by xzerox
    In VB.net is there anyway to make a certain part of the string to have a different color to make it stand out? This doesn't work but if I could something like this string = ("How".ForeColor(red) & "are".FontColor(green)) Would it be possible to make anything similar to this in a ListBox? If this is not possible is there a way to have it stand out more?

  • can this code be broken?

    - by user105165
    Consider the below html string <p>This is a paragraph tag</p> <font>This is a font tag</font> <div>This is a div tag</div> <span>This is a span tag</span> This string is processed to tokanize the text found in it and we get 2 results as below 1) Token Array : $tokenArray == array( 'This is a paragraph tag', 'This is a div tag', '<font>This is a font tag</font>', '<span>This is a span tag</span>' ); 2) Tokenized template : $templateString == "<p>{0}</p>{2}<div>{1}</div>{3}"; If you observe, the sequence of the text strings segments from the original HTML strings is different from the tokenized template The PHP code below is used to order the tokenized template and accordingly the token array to match the original html string class CreateTemplates { public static $tokenArray = array(); public static $tokenArrayNew = array(); function foo($templateString,$tokenArray) { CreateTemplates::$tokenArray = $tokenArray; $ptn = "/{[0-9]*}*/"; // Search Pattern from the template string $templateString = preg_replace_callback($ptn,array(&$this, 'callbackhandler') ,$templateString); // function call return $templateString; } // Function defination private static function callbackhandler($matches) { static $newArr = array(); static $cnt; $tokenArray = CreateTemplates::$tokenArray; array_push($newArr, $matches[0]); CreateTemplates::$tokenArrayNew[count($newArr)] = $tokenArray[substr($matches[0],1,(strlen($matches[0])-2))]; $cnt = count($newArr)-1; return '{'.$cnt.'}'; } // function ends } // class ends Final output is (ordered template and token array) $tokenArray == array('This is a paragraph tag', '<font>This is a font tag</font>', 'This is a div tag', '<span>This is a span tag</span>' ); $templateString == "<p>{0}</p>{1}<div>{2}</div>{3}"; Which is the expected result. Now, I am not confident whether this is the right way to achieve this. I want to see how this code can be broken or not. Under what conditions will this code break? (important) Is there any other way to achieve this? (less important)

  • Android: onListItemClick not getting called in ListActivity

    - by user521469
    I'm having problems with my first Android app. I have subclassed ListActivity, and I'm having no luck getting the overridden onListItemClick() to respond to click events. I've read focus can be a problem, but changing focus in the XML files does not seem to work. Here's the relevant bits of code. Anyone see what's I've buggered up? public class Notepadv1 extends ListActivity { private int mNoteNumber = 1; private NotesDbAdapter mDbHelper; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.notepad_list); mDbHelper = new NotesDbAdapter(this); mDbHelper.open(); fillData(); } private void fillData() { // Get all of the notes from the database and create the item list Cursor c = mDbHelper.fetchAllNotes(); startManagingCursor(c); String[] from = new String[] { NotesDbAdapter.KEY_TITLE }; int[] to = new int[] { R.id.text1 }; SimpleCursorAdapter notes = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.notes_row, c, from, to); setListAdapter(notes); } @Override public void onListItemClick (ListView l, View v, int position, long id){ super.onListItemClick(l, v, position, id); AlertDialog alert = new AlertDialog.Builder(this).create(); String message = "row clicked!"; alert.setMessage(message); alert.show(); } notepad_list.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <ListView android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:dividerHeight="6dp"/> <TextView android:id="@android:id/empty" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/no_notes" /> </LinearLayout> And notes_row.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TextView android:id="@+id/text1" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="60dp" android:focusable="false"/>

  • Read from file in eclipse

    - by Buzkie
    I'm trying to read from a text file to input data to my java program. However, eclipse continuosly gives me a Source not found error no matter where I put the file. I've made an additional sources folder in the project directory, the file in question is in both it and the bin file for the project and it still can't find it. I even put a copy of it on my desktop and tried pointing eclipse there when it asked me to browse for the source lookup path. No matter what I do it can't find the file. here's my code in case it's pertinent: System.out.println(System.getProperty("user.dir")); File file = new File("file.txt"); Scanner scanner = new Scanner(file); in addition, it says the user directory is the project directory and there is a copy there too. I have no clue what to do. Thanks, Alex after attempting the suggestion below and refreshing again, I was greeted by a host of errors. • automatic xml conversion in scala

    - by Jeff Bowman
    Let's say I have the following class: class Person(val firstName:String, val lastName:String) Is there an automatic way to generate xml from this class without having to hand create a toXml() method? Ideally the output would be something like: <Person <firstNameJohn</firstName <lastNameSmith</lastName </Person It seems like there should be a way to do this without having to write all that out manually. Perhaps there is a trait I haven't found yet?

  • Getting rid of "static" references in C#

    - by DevEight
    Hello. I've recently begun learning C# but have encountered an annoying problem. Every variable I want available to all functions in my program I have to put a "static" in front of and also every function. What I'd like to know is how to avoid this, if possible? Also, small side question: creating public variables inside functions? This is what my program looks like right now, and I want to basically keep it like that, without having to add "static" everywhere: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Net; using System.Threading; using System.Net.Sockets; namespace NetworkExercise { class Client { public IPAddress addr; public int port; public string name; public Thread thread; public TcpClient tcp; public NetworkStream stream; public Client(IPAddress addr, int port, string name, NetworkStream stream) { } } class Program { //NETWORK TcpListener tcpListener; Thread listenThread; ASCIIEncoding encoder = new ASCIIEncoding(); //DATA byte[] buffer = new byte[4096]; string servIp; int servPort; //CLIENT MANAGEMENT int clientNum; static void Main(string[] args) { beginConnect(); } public void beginConnect() { Console.Write("Server IP (leave blank if you're the host): "); servIp = Console.ReadLine(); Console.Write("Port: "); servPort = Console.Read(); tcpListener = new TcpListener(IPAddress.Any, servPort); listenThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(listenForClients)); listenThread.Start(); } public void listenForClients() { tcpListener.Start(); Console.WriteLine("Listening for clients..."); while (true) { Client cl = new Client(null, servPort, null, null); cl.tcp = tcpListener.AcceptTcpClient(); ThreadStart pts = delegate { handleClientCom(cl); }; cl.thread = new Thread(pts); cl.thread.Start(); } } public void handleClientCom(Client cl) { cl.stream = cl.tcp.GetStream(); } } }

  • Convert Int List Into Integer

    - by Kezzer
    This is a bit of an odd case I must admit, but I'm trying to find a succinct and elegant way of converting a List<int> into an actual int. For example, if my list contained entries 1, 2, and 3, then the final integer would be 123. The only other way I thought of doing it was converting the array to a string and then parsing the string. Any hints?
