• Compiz runs almost at 100% and the system is slow, what can I do?

  My system became very slow out of the sudden, yesterday Compiz was running extremely smooth, today it started working very slow and slowing the computer. What I've done so far was to resize my swap partition to 6 gigabytes (my computer has 3 gigabytes of RAM), before it was on 5.1 gigabytes, so I though that was the reason of this but still not. Also I tested running only metacity by running metacity --replace and also with Mutter. With metacity works really great no problem but, in the other hand, with mutter the computer works slower than running compiz instead. I am using the Nvidia driver version 173.14.28 and my X Server version as reports the NVidia X Server Settings is the 11.0. My Linux kernel running on this computer is 2.6.35-25-generic and my ubuntu version is 10.10. Any help will be appreciated.

  I have installed Ubuntu 14.04, I have installed Eclipse using Ubuntu Software Center. But Eclipse is not opening, when I click it is not opening or showing any error message it is very silent. And then client has to manually unzip the folder and copy that to required location. Because there is no way to download zip file to required location.   Hi Folks, I've been working with SQLCMD mode again today and one thing about it always bites me. If I execute a script like: ::CONNECT SERVER1 SELECT @@VERSION; ::CONNECT SERVER2 SELECT @@VERSION; ::CONNECT SERVER3 SELECT @@VERSION; I'm sure I'm not the only person that would be surprised to see all three SELECT commands executed against SERVER3 and none executed against SERVER1 or SERVER2. • An error when installing MVVM Light templates for VS10 Express

  If you tried to install the Visual Studio 2010 Express project and item templates of MVVM Light V3 SP1 (with the Windows Phone tools hotfix), you may have encountered an error when unzipping the package, telling you that a file was corrupted. This error was reported to me a couple of times, and I was able to reproduce the issue. I just published a new version that takes care of this issue. If you encountered that error when installing, please download the new version and try again. Note that the error was only there for the Visual Studio 2010 Express version of the templates. Is there a best practice for integrating advert support into mobile applications, so as to not drain user battery too much? ...When you fire up Angry Birds on your Android phone, the researchers found that the core gaming component only consumes about 18 percent of total app energy. The biggest battery suck comes from the software powering third-party ads and analytics accounting for 45 percent of total app energy, according to the study... Has anyone invoked better ways of keeping away from the "3G Tail", as the report puts it? Is it better/possible to download a large set of adverts that are cached for a few hours, and using them to populate your ad space, to avoid constant use of the Wi-Fi/3G radios? • Webm videos converted with avconv not working properly

  I'm converting mp4 videos to webm with the following command: avconv -i INPUT.mp4 -c:v libvpx -qmin 10 -qmax 42 -maxrate 500k -bufsize 1000k -threads 2 -c:a libvorbis OUTPUT.webm Am I doing something wrong? Should I use all of these parameters? I just want to make the videos compatible with all the browsers/devices. The videos are not working on Firefox on most devices and on Chrome in a specific Android device that I have. EDIT: When i play the embeded videos on firefox, on any android device, it goes straight to the end and doesn't play. It only plays if i click in the progress bar. If i open the videos on firefox without embedding them in a html page, they seem to have a bigger width box outside then, while the video is inside it. I uploaded a video that i converted. Version 4.0 is available at : http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads ... and of course, it's open source, and it's free. And I suggest (strongly) that you also download the free Extension Pack from the same page... Brings USB 2.0 emulation and more!I upgraded the version on my Solaris Express (get that from : http://www.oracle.com/solaris/index.html and follow the Download Solaris Express link on the right) laptop (pfexec pkgrm SUNWvbox and then pfexec pkgadd -d the .pkg in the compressed archive file, and install the extensions from the VBox GUI once it's launched). If you are on an old fashion OS without proper RBAC, replace pfexec by sudo. Which you can also do on Solaris if you really want to. :)I tell you, it's Christmas, for sure!Merry VBox!Gilles.

  'Spotlight on GlassFish 4.1' is a series of posts that highlights specific enhancements of the upcoming GlassFish 4.1 release. It could be a new feature, a fix, a behavior change, a tip, etc. #6 Java API for WebSocket 1.1 JSR 356 (Java API for WebSocket) has recently passed the Maintenance Release ballot, this Maintenance Release fixes an important issue when Java SE 8 Lambdas are used (see here). GlassFish 4.1 will include an updated version of Tyrus (JSR 356 Reference Implementation) to bring the WebSocket API level to the latest version of the specification, i.e. WebSocket API for Java 1.1. It should be mentioned that the Tyrus version included in GlassFish 4.1 also brings additional features. • Useful versioning scheme for a git project?

  I have a small github project, which I need to add an option to to output some version number on the commandline. The problem is I have no idea how to "compute" the version number. Is this some random process? Should I just start at 1.0 (probably creating a tag or something), and put a number after . for fixes? I know this question is a bit vague... I just had never to deal with this, and want to use some sane versioning scheme. EDIT Im also interested into how to update this version number automatically, maybe using something like a git hook.

  My question is hopefully simple--should I copyright my work (art, software, web design, etc.) under my real name or my screen name? My real name and screen name are also easily connected with a bit of searching, so does it really matter in the end? I'm not a professional (at this point). I read this article: Is it a bad idea to sell Android apps in the Android Market under your real name? and they recommended releasing on the app market under a company name. I also read this article: On what name should I claim copyright in open source software?, but that didn't answer my question. I know it probably matters for big projects, but for little projects, does it matter? Thanks ahead of time!
