  • Alternatives to Google Earth for sat image

    - by Martin Beckett
I've been asked to add Google Earth images to a desktop app (civil engineering modelling app) I was under the impression that Google's license didn't allow you to do this. Are there any other easily accessible, and similarly high resolution, image sources anyone can recommend (Blue Marble, terraserver) ? As a bonus, any library that lets me use coordinates in a range of local map datums and convert them to Lat/Long without me having to incorporate the whole of CGAL?

  • Check if a Lat/Long point is on the GRoute

    - by Pavel
I'm ploting a route between two points and I need to check if the route goes through a predefiend location. In the api, each GStep has a start and end points but the path doesn't have to be straight. Given a Lat/Long point, is there a way to check if it intersects with a route? -- Pavel

  • open layers LineString not working

    - by AlexS
Sorry to bother you guys, but I'm stuck with his problem for half a day. I want to draw poly line in OpenLayers using LineString object, so I've copied the example from documentation. It runs ok but i can't see the line on the screen Code looks like this <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> var map; var lineLayer ; var points; var style; var polygonFeature function test() { lineLayer = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector("Line Layer"); style = { strokeColor: '#0000ff', strokeOpacity: 1, strokeWidth: 10 }; map.addLayer(lineLayer); points = new Array(); points[0] =new OpenLayers.LonLat(-2.460181,27.333984 ).transform(new OpenLayers.Projection("EPSG:4326"), map.getProjectionObject());; points[1] = new OpenLayers.LonLat(-3.864255,-22.5 ).transform(new OpenLayers.Projection("EPSG:4326"), map.getProjectionObject());; var linear_ring = new OpenLayers.Geometry.LinearRing(points); polygonFeature = new OpenLayers.Feature.Vector( new OpenLayers.Geometry.Polygon([linear_ring]), null, style); lineLayer.addFeatures([polygonFeature]); alert("1"); } function initialize() { map = new OpenLayers.Map ("map_canvas", { controls:[ new OpenLayers.Control.Navigation(), new OpenLayers.Control.PanZoomBar(), new OpenLayers.Control.LayerSwitcher(), new OpenLayers.Control.Attribution()], maxExtent: new OpenLayers.Bounds(-20037508.34,-20037508.34,20037508.34,20037508.34), maxResolution: 156543.0399, numZoomLevels: 19, units: 'm', projection: new OpenLayers.Projection("EPSG:900913"), displayProjection: new OpenLayers.Projection("EPSG:4326") }); // Define the map layer // Here we use a predefined layer that will be kept up to date with URL changes layerMapnik = new OpenLayers.Layer.OSM.Mapnik("Mapnik"); map.addLayer(layerMapnik); var lonLat = new OpenLayers.LonLat(0, 0).transform(new OpenLayers.Projection("EPSG:4326"), map.getProjectionObject()); map.zoomTo(3); map.setCenter(lonLat, 19); test(); } </head> <body onload="initialize()" > <div id="map_canvas" style="width: 828px; height: 698px"></div> I'm sure I'm missing some parameter in creation of map or something but I really can't figure which one.

  • Bing map silverlight control content rendering issue when page gets refresh

    - by M.Afnan
When Bing map control loads for first time on any browser all pushpin on map are visible. Bing map control renders perfectly. Then I refresh browser it create rendering issue some custom pushpin on map gets disappeared. This behavior continues with pushpin. Pushpin are (.png) images and I am not using default bing map thumbtacks. May be it is issue of browser caching content or Bing map control rendering issues on various browsers. Waiting for your response.

  • Does anyone know how to create a message bubble with 2 buttons appears on top of an overlayitem for

    - by Zap
    I currently have implemented an overlayitem that shows an icon for geopoint on a map application in Android. When the icon is clicked, it brings up an AlertDialog from the onTap method below. I have the following questions: Does anyone know how to display a map message bubble directly above the icon overlayitem with 2 callout buttons one to the left of the title and one to the right of the bubble? Does anyone know how to make the overlayitem draggable so I can press and hold it and drag it across the map. I am trying to duplicate the draggable icon behavior that's available on the iPhone. If so, please share some sample code. Thanks protected boolean onTap(int index) { OverlayItem item = mOverlays.get(index); AlertDialog.Builder dialog = new AlertDialog.Builder(mContext); dialog.setTitle(item.getTitle()); dialog.setMessage(item.getSnippet()); dialog.show(); return true; }

  • iOS App with OCMaps crashes when using the phone in chinese Language

    - by Pedro Morte Rolo
I've been given the task of doing maintenance to a iOS application that uses OCMapView. I have just realized that when using the application in chinese language, it blows up when the selector doClustering is invoked on a OCMapView instance. This is for me a very puzzling behaviour, because I thought that regardless of the environment language, the OCMapView class should allways have the same methods. Am I wrong? Do you have any recomentations about how to find a solution to this problem? Thank you, Pedro

  • Obfuscating Geocode results to protect privacy?

    - by Kevin
I have an app that finds other users within a 20 mile radius on a google map and associates an icon with each of them. However, I do not want their exact points to be given but rather an approximation. I've wrestled with a few ideas on how to do this: Only Geocode the Zip Code, make graphic icons for 1-99, use the icon to represent how many results are within the zip code, and use the info window to show hyperlinks to the individual results. The only problem is, I'd like each individual icon to be shown because it just looks a lot better. Add/Subtract a random number to the lat/lng values stored with each user and add a translucent circle around the icon. What do you guys suggest?

  • Caching view-port based Geo-queries

    - by friism
I have a web app with a giant Google Map in it. As users pan and zoom around on the map, points are dynamically loaded through AJAX call which include the viewport bounds (NE and SW corner coordinates) and some other assorted parameters. How do I cache these request for points? The problem is that the parameters are highly variable and (worst) not discrete i.e. floats with a lots of decimal places. I'm using ASP.NET-MVC/C#/LINQ2SQL/SQL-Server but the problem is not tied to that platform. This is the signature of the the relevant method: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public JsonResult Data(string date, string categories, string ne_lat, string ne_lng, string sw_lat, string sw_lng)

  • Catching 'Last Record' in Coldfusion for IE javascript bug

    - by Simon Hume
I'm using ColdFusion to pull UK postcodes into an array for display on a Google Map. This happens dynamically from a SQL database, so the numbers can range from 1 to 100+ the script works great, however, in IE (groan) it decides to display one point way off line, over in California somewhere. I fixed this issue in a previous webapp, this was due to the comma between each array item still being present at the end. Works fine in Firefox, Safari etc, but not IE. But, that one was using a set 10 records, so was easy to fix. I just need a little if statement to wrap around my comma to hide it when it hits the last record. I can't seem to get it right. Any tips/suggestions? here is the line of code in question: var address = [<cfloop query="getApplicant"><cfif getApplicant.dbHomePostCode GT ""><cfoutput>'#getApplicant.dbHomePostCode#',</cfoutput></cfif> </cfloop>]; Hopefully someone can help with this rather simple request. I'm just having a bad day at the office!

  • Position of builtInZoomControls in WebView and MapView

    - by Mathias Lin
I noticed that the position of the builtInZoomControls in WebView (bottom, horizontal right) is not consistent with the default position in the MapView (bottom, horizontal center). 1) Why is that not consistent? (Probably a question to be asked to Google) 2) Is there a way to horizontal center the builtInZoomControls of the WebView without applying custom Zoom controls? Or is that the only way?

  • Adding Google Map to Contact Info Page in Drupal

    - by clang1234
I'm trying to display a Google Map inside a drupal page. The map will only have the business location marker on it, with no need for a user to submitted their own markers. So far I've loaded the Gmap, Location, and CCK modules. I've attempted to enable a location field for Page content types, which allows me to input an address, but this doesn't display the actual map. I'm sure I'm missing something simple here. Any help?

  • Why MKMapView region is different than requested?

    - by Kamil
Greetings! I'm saving map region into user defaults when my iPhone app is closing like this: MKCoordinateRegion region = mapView.region; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.center.latitude forKey:@"map.location.center.latitude"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.center.longitude forKey:@"map.location.center.longitude"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.span.latitudeDelta forKey:@"map.location.span.latitude"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.span.longitudeDelta forKey:@"map.location.span.longitude"]; When app launches again, i read those values back the same way, so that the user can see exactly the same map view as it was last time: MKCoordinateRegion region; region.center.latitude = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.center.latitude"]; region.center.longitude = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.center.longitude"]; region.span.latitudeDelta = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.span.latitude"]; region.span.longitudeDelta = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.span.longitude"]; NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"Region read : %f %f %f %f", region.center.latitude, region.center.longitude, region.span.latitudeDelta, region.span.longitudeDelta]); [mapView setRegion:region]; NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"Region on map: %f %f %f %f", mapView.region.center.latitude, mapView.region.center.longitude, mapView.region.span.latitudeDelta, mapView.region.span.longitudeDelta]); The region I read from user defaults is (not surprisingly) exactly the same as when it was saved. Notice that what is saved comes directly from the map, so it's not transformed in any way. I set it back on map with setRegion: method, but then it is different! Example results: Region read : 50.241110 8.891555 0.035683 0.042915 Region on map: 50.241057 8.891544 0.050499 0.054932 Does anybody know why this happens?

  • Find the xmlHttpRequest resource in aspx page

    - by DJStroky
I'm trying to find an xmlHttpRequest or similar resource that I can query directly to obtain an xml file for my own purposes. At this site it is possible to browse a Google Map mashup with markers. Unfortunately it is only possible to view all markers at a small view range, whereas I simply want to obtain all the information at once for the entire state. Using the firebug console in firefox I can enter the following javascript line to obtain the xml that I desire: document.getElementById("stationXML").value I tracked this document element down to an <input> tag, but I can't figure out how that input is set. Thanks in advance for your help!
