    I've been search for quite a while with no success. My project isn't using Django, is there a simple way to serialize App Engine models (google.appengine.ext.db.Model) into JSON or do I need to write my own serializer? My model class is fairly simple. For instance: class Photo(db.Model): filename = db.StringProperty() title = db.StringProperty() description = db.StringProperty(multiline=True) date_taken = db.DateTimeProperty() date_uploaded = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) album = db.ReferenceProperty(Album, collection_name='photo') Thanks in advance.

    Hello: I am using the following tcl code to store a file from my deskstop into a Sqlite database as blob data ($fileText is a path to a text file): sqlite3 db Docs.db set fileID [open $fileText RDONLY] fconfigure $fileID -translation binary set content [read $fileID] close $fileID db eval {insert into Document (Doc) VALUES ($content)} db close I have found many resources on how to open the blob data to read and write to it, but I cannot find any resources on openning the blob data as a file. For a little bit I thought a grid was the new thing and the best, now it appears I am wrong after all and not sure of best practice.     I'm trying to write a simple tool for monitoring the state of a Queue Manager. One of the things I'd like to monitor is the current queue depth of each queue. I haven't been able to find a way to programmatically enumerate all of the queues on a particular Queue Manager, though. Do any of the MQ APIs provide this functionality? I'd prefer to do this with C, but if it's only possible with another language's bindings, I'd at least like to know that.

I am capable of rewriting all of the parts that use it with things like NSInvocation without too much trouble, but would prefer libffi. So my question is: would apps that use libffi be accepted to the app store?

  • ArcObjects: Is buffering a point faster than buffering a line / polyline?

    I can write my code logic to either buffer a polyline or to buffer the to and from point of the polyline. Working with the points will be easier, so it is the preferred way. Logically my reasoning tells me that buffering a point will be faster as it will always be a perfect circle. But will buffering 2 points still be faster than buffering 1 polyline? My gut says yes. Any comments?

    I've been mandated to write an application to migrate the Active Directory access models to another environment. Here's the context: I'm stuck with VB.NET 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0; The application must use the Windows authenticated user to manage AD; The objects I have to handle are Groups, Users and OrganizationalUnits; I intend to use the Façade design pattern to provider ease of use and a fully reusable code; I plan to write a factory for each of the objects managed (group, ou, user); The use of Attributes should be useful here, I guess; As everything is about the DirectoryEntry class when accessing the AD, it seems a good candidate for generic types. Obligatory features: User creates new OUs manually; User creates new group manually; User creates new user (these users are services accounts) manually; Application reads an XML file which contains the OUs, groups and users to create; Application informs the user about the OUs, groups and users that shall be created; User specifies the domain environment where to migrate the XML input file designated objects; User makes changes if needed, and launches the task operations; Application performs required by the XML input file operations against the underlying AD as specified by the user; Application informs the user upon completion. Linear features: User fetches OUs, groups, users; User changes OUs, groups, users; User deletes OUs, groups, users; The application logs AD entries and operations performed, plus errors and exceptions; Nice-to-have features: Application rollbacks operations on error or exception. I've been working for weeks now to get acquainted with the AD and the System.DirectoryServices assembly. But I don't seem to find a way to be fully satisfied with what I'm doing and always looking for better. I have studied Bret de Smet's Linq to AD on CodePlex, but then again, I can't use it as I'm stuck with .NET 2.0, so no Linq! But I've learned about Attributes, and seen that he's working with generic types as he codes a DirectorySource class to perform the operations for OUs, groups and users. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help, code sample, ideas, architural solution, everything!

    I think I may be missing the obvious but I'm not sure. The section on subclassing NSDocument in the docs states that subclasses of NSDocument must override one reading and one writing method. If I'm creating a viewer application that will not write anything back, do I still need to override a writing method (returning what, nil?) or can I ignore it and make sure that there are no saving methods that can get called?
