• Is there such a thing as an "elisp bundle" for TextMate?

  I started using Code Collector Pro to organise and save my Emacs codes, and this software requires TextMate bundles for syntax highlighting. They have a lisp bundle, but not an elisp bundle, at least not that I can see. I would think that the syntax highlighting would work under the lisp bundle, but for some reason it isn't happening. I have never even seen any lisp code with syntax highlighting, so it is possible that the thing is working and I don't know, but I honestly don't think so, because the ;; before a line seems to me to be a comment thing, so anything after that should be in the color defined for comments which in my case is green. Here is a picture of my code collector screen with a piece of code written by huaiyuan answering my question posted here: Is this looking as it should or is there something wrong? Back to the initial question: is there a textmate bundle for elisp or a bundle like the ones from textmate I can download to get syntax highlighting?

• Why should we call SuppressFinalize when we dont have a destructor

  I have few Question for which I am not able to get a proper answer . 1) Why should we call SuppressFinalize in the Dispose function when we dont have a destructor . 2) Dispose and finalize are used for freeing resources before the object is garbage collected. Whether it is managed or unmanaged resource we need to free it , then why we need a condition inside the dispose funtion , saying pass 'true' when we call this overriden function from IDisposable:Dispose and pass false when called from a finalize. • "Symbol not found" error for UIPopoverController in an iPhone/iPad Universal App

  In a universal binary iPhone/iPad app of mine, users are able to adjust preferences in a view controller that's presented modally. On the iPhone, the settings panel is presented with presentModalViewController:animated:, and on the iPad, I use a UIPopoverController. I'm having a heck of a time completely isolating the UIPopoverController code away from the iPhone code. Everytime I compile for the iPhone, I get the following error: dyld: Symbol not found: _OBJC_CLASS_$_UIPopoverController Referenced from: /var/mobile/Applications/CBB37F87-AA6D-47E2-823A-E259E3268A32/MyApp debug.app/MyApp Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/UIKit This is of course because UIKit on the iPhone doesn't have a UIPopoverController class. Does anybody have advice for how to effectively isolate the iPad API includes from the iPhone code, so I can actually run my code?

• Web Site in solution where "Rebuild Solution" compile succeeds cannot launch debugger

  I have a solution that includes a Web Site (created using the web site template not the web app project template - converting isn't an option, btw). When I rebuild all, the compile succeeds, but strangely displays 3 errors, all of which are "Could not get dependencies for project reference 'PROJNAME'". When I try to launch the debugger, I get the "There were build errors." dialogue. Two questions: If I choose the 'Yes' option in the debug error dialogue to run the last successful build, will it run on the code that my Rebuild All just compiled? How do I resolve this issue? I checked this post and am disheartened by my prospects. What is strange, though, is that I added these same projects to a separate web site solution that compiled/debugged fine, removed the test web site and re-added the target website I would like to debug, and it failed in the same manner. • JAutodoc for Eclipse

  Hi, I'm trying to generate javadoc with JAutodoc 1.7 for Eclipse 3.5. I've sucessfully created templates for files, classes, methods. However, on parameters and exceptions I get the default @param and @throws tags generated even if I change the template in preferences/JAutodoc/templates/parameters. This is incompatible with the coding standards they have given us. Any help? Btw, I tried to use the default eclipse comment template but I couldn't find any enclosing_method_arguments variable in my version. Any ideas why that might be?

• Flowcharting tool/add-in for Visual Studio

  A 2 part question: Are flow-charts, as tool to analyze source-code, no longer considered useful? The reason I ask this question is that if you Google for source-code to flowchart tools for Visual Studio, there are no relevant results. Also, Microsoft does not seem to have a tool for this purpose. Are people just not using flowcharts that much any more? (I find them to be a great way to document complex logic in my code). Are there any VS tools that can take .Net (C#, VB.Net) code and convert it to a flowchart? (The only tool that I found is Aviosto's Visustin, which does not provide VS integration). Any other tools that you can recommend for this purpose?

• Data Binding to an object in C#

  Objective-c/cocoa offers a form of binding where a control's properties (ie text in a textbox) can be bound to the property of an object. I am trying to duplicate this functionality in C# w/ .Net 3.5. I have created the following very simple class in the file MyClass.cs: class MyClass { private string myName; public string MyName { get { return myName; } set { myName = value; } } public MyClass() { myName = "Allen"; } } I also created a simple form with 1 textbox and 1 button. I init'd one instance of Myclass inside the form code and built the project. Using the DataSource Wizard in Vs2008, i selected to create a data source based on object, and selected the MyClass assembly. This created a datasource entity. I changed the databinding of the textbox to this datasource; however, the expected result (that the textbox's contents would be "allen") was not achieved. Further, putting text into the textbox is not updating the name property of the object. I know i'm missing something fundamental here. At some point i should have to tie my instance of the MyClass class that i initialized inside the form code to the textbox, but that hasn't occurred. Everything i've looked at online seems to gloss over using DataBinding with an object (or i'm missing the mark entirely), so any help is great appreciated. ----Edit--- Utilizing what i learned by the answers, i looked at the code generated by Visual Studio, it had the following: this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = typeof(BindingTest.MyClass); if i comment that out and substitute : this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = new MyClass(); i get the expected behavior. Why is the default code generated by VS like it is? Assuming this is more correct than the method that works, how should i modify my code to work within the bounds of what VS generated?

• What is purpuse of T4 Generator in T4toolbox

  I am using T4toolbox, I am confused what the generator is for. I can run the following public class Generator1 : Generator { protected override void RunCore() { Template1 t = new Template1(); t.Output.File = "t3.txt"; t.Render(); } } or I can run t4 script directly like the following. Template1 t = new Template1(); t.Output.File = "t3.txt"; t.Render(); But I can do the same using t4 script without generator as well. So I mean can do the same thing with two approach "script -- generator -- template" and "script -- template", am I missing something? Thanks

• WPF: Changing config file user settings at runtime?

  Hey I'm trying to change some config file user settings values in my WPF application, but its only working partly. The value is changed correctly and the program runs fine with the value. I can even restart the program and the value is still the one i changed it to. The problem is that when i open the .exe.config file the value is still the old value. Im using this code to change the value: Properties.Settings.Default.ProjectNumber = varTestExample; Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); Where does this save code save the changes and how/where does the program read the value after i have run this code? If i run a clean version of the program the ProjectNumber value is correctly taken from the .exe.config file and if i change the value in the config file it is also change when i run the program. But as soon as i run the above code the program is not reading the value from the config file. Why?

• Delayed "rendering" of WPF/Silverlight Dependency Properties?

  Is there a way to know the first time a Dependency Property is accessed through XAML binding so I can actually "render" the value of the property when needed? I have an object (class derived from Control) that has several PointCollection Dependency Properties that may contain 100's or 1000's of points. Each property may arrange the points differently for use in different types shapes (Polyline, Polygon, etc - its more complicated then this, but you get the idea). Via a Template different XAML objects use TemplateBinding to access these properties. Since my object uses a Template I never know what XAML shapes may be in use for my object - so I never know what Properties they may or may not bind to. I'd like to only fill-in these PointCollections when they are actually needed. Normally in .NET I'd but some logic in the Property's getter, but these are bypassed by XAML data binding. I need a WPF AND Silverlight compatible solution. I'd love a solution that avoids any additional complexities for the users of my object.

• Is this fix to "PostSharp complains about CA1800:DoNotCastUnnecessarily" the best one?

  This question is about "is" and "as" in casting and about CA1800 PostSharp rule. I want to know if the solution I thought is the best one possible or if it have any problem that I can't see. I have this code (named OriginaL Code and reduced to the minimum relevant). The function ValidateSubscriptionLicenceProducts try to validate a SubscriptionLicence (that could be of 3 types: Standard,Credit and TimeLimited ) by casting it and checking later some stuff (in //Do Whatever). PostSharp complains about CA1800:DoNotCastUnnecessarily. The reason is that I am casting two times the same object to the same type. This code in best case will cast 2 times (if it is a StandardLicence) and in worst case 4 times (If it is a TimeLimited Licence). • WPF Applications Size Vs Winforms App Size

  Does WPF compiled code is bigger or smaller than Winform compiled code? Does WPF generates more code behind that Winform does? I have a Winform App and I want to make a new version on WPF. Customers get the updates of this app by dowloading it. So my question is, If I make the application now on WPF just using the same screens how bigger can it be the compiled solution compared to the WinForm version.

• Sporadic EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) when in 64 bit mode

  For some reason for a low-number of users (say 1 in a few hundred) the application seem to crash when run in 64bit mode on a Snow Leopard 10.6.3 I've attached the code, but please remind IT IS NOT A CODE issue. The crashed seem to be random in com.apple.AppKit at random locations and random moments. Anyone else had any experiences? Any suggestions other then running the application in 32 bit only? Please do not dilute the feedback by asking for or blaming the code, the code is 100% solid, guaranteed! No memory leaks, the crashes clearly are triggered in 32 bit mode only just after start inside the AppKit itself like deep inside NSThread sleep's callstack.

  I have four tables: Users PrivilegeGroups rdPrivileges LinkPrivilege ----------- ---------------- --------------- --------------- userId(pk) privilegeGroupId(pk) privilegeId(pk) privilegeId(pk, fk) privilegeGroupId(fk) name code privilegeGroupId(pk, fk) L2E will not create LinkPrivilege entity for me. So we only have Users, PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges entities. PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges are many to many relationship. What I need to do is retrieve all code from rdPrivileges table based on a passed in userId. How can I do it?   I am having trouble doing a reverse URL lookup for Django-generated feeds. I have the following setup in urls.py: feeds = { 'latest': LatestEntries, } urlpatterns = patterns('', # ... # enable feeds (RSS) url(r'^feeds/(?P<url>.*)/$', 'django.contrib.syndication.views.feed', {'feed_dict': feeds}, name='feeds_view'), ) I have tried using the following template tag: <a href="{% url feeds_view latest %}">RSS feeds</a> But the resulting link is not what want (http://my.domain.com/feeds//). It should be http://my.domain.com/feeds/latest/. For now, I am using a hack to generate the URL for the template: <a href="http://{{ request.META.HTTP_HOST }}/feeds/latest">RSS feeds</a> But, as you can see, it clearly is not DRY. Is there something I am missing?

  Hi, I’m working on a project that’s written in C# and uses a C++ dll to communicate with a robot. Originally the software was written in C# VS 2003 and was converted to VS 2008 (no change to the code) using .Net 2.0. Now, I started seeing the “Attempted to read or write protected memory…” on some computers. The Access violation error is always thrown when the code calls a particular method from the dll, however, that very same method is called over and over throughout the task and executes fine, just sometimes it throws the error. Also, the robot seems to execute the command fine which tells me that the values passed into the dll exist and thus are accessible. The software with the .Net 1.1 has been used for years and worked fine without ever throwing any memory errors. Now that it has been using .Net 2.0 it throws errors on some computers only. I’m not sure what’s causing the issue. I ruled out inappropriate calling (incorrect marshalling …) of the dll methods as it has been working fine with .Net 1.1 for years and thus should work fine in .Net 2.0 as well. I’ve seen some posts suggesting that it could be the GC, but then again why would it only happen on this one computer and only sometimes. Also, the values passed in are all global variables in the C# code and thus they should exist until the application is shut down and GC has no business moving any of those around or deleting them. Another observation, as I mentioned above, the robot executes the command normally which means that it gets all its necessary values. Not sure what the C++ dll’s method would do at the end where the GC could mess up stuff. It shouldn’t try to delete the global variables passed in and the method is not modifying those variables either (I’m not expecting any return values through the passed in values, the only return value is the method return which again shouldn’t have anything to do with GC.) One important piece of information I should add is that I have no access to the C++ code and thus cannot make any changes there. The fix has to come through the C# code or some settings on the computer or something else that I am in control of. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.
