    Hello everyone, I am using Linq-to-Sql for a C# application and am currently working on some stored procedures. The application is for a newspaper, and a sample stored procedure is the following: ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.Articles_GetArticlesByPublication @publicationDate date AS SELECT * FROM Articles WHERE Articles.PublicationDate=@publicationDate Anyway, this query gets all of the articles where the publication date is equal to the argument (publicationDate). How can I alter this so that the argument can handle multiple publication dates? Also, I'd prefer not to use "BETWEEN," rather, I want to pick and choose dates.

  • Porting C++-code from Windows to Unix: systemcalls colliding with name of functions

    Hi I'm porting some crufty C++ Windows-code to Linux, which uses functions called "open" and "close" inside every class... Very bad style, or? Luckily that wasn't a problem in windows, since their systemcalls are named different. When I try to call the systemcalls open() or close() I'm getting some compiler error about "no matching function for call for class:open()". I can't rename all our functions named "class::open" and "class::close" in the whole code, and I have to use open() and close() since I'm working with serial ports. So my question is: How can I tell the compiler, which open I mean? How can I escape or hide the namespace of a class in C++?

  • SQLite/iPhone read copyright symbol

    Hi All, I am having problems reading the copyright symbol from a sqlite db that I have for my App that I am developing. I import the information manually, ie, from an excel sheet. I have tried two ways of doing it and failed with both: 1) Tried replacing the copyright symbol with "\u00ae" (unicode combination) within excel and then importing the modified file. - Result: I get the combination of \u00ae as a part of the string, it doesnt detect the unicode combination. 2) Tried leaving as it is.     Is there a way to open multiple AI files (say 3 individual files) and somehow save in a way that I can open the same 3 files simultaneously in the future? I always want the multiple files to open together. Situation: We design products with AI. A single product may have multiple versions. The designer typically creates 1 AI file, then puts all versions of the product in the single file. I need them to put each version in a separate file for an integration project, but this creates more work for them. The solution I'm looking for would allow them to open all the relevant AI file and somehow same them all as a group. Next time, they open the group and all AI files open together. Thank you

  • Is SQL Server Compact *ever* OK to use on a web server?

    I'd like to host a personal database for about 500 people (1 database per person) on my web server. A person could possibly share their database with a friend or two. On my web server, I'd have some web services, perhaps for doing synchronization, and maybe even an ASP.NET Web Forms front end to the database. If I restart my IIS web server, would this likely cause database corruptions? Would this be expected to perform ok? If not Compact, should I instead use SQL Express and create a database in SQL Server for each of my 500 people?

  • Can we use union of two sqlite databases with same tables for Core Data?

    Hi All, I have an iPhone Core Data app with a pre-populated sqlite "baseline" database. Can I add a second smaller sqlite database with the same tables as my pre-populated "baseline" database but with additional / complementary data such that Core Data will happily union the data from both databases and, ultimately, present to me as if it was all a single data source? Idea that I had is: 1) the "baseline" database never changes. 2) I can download the smaller "complementary" sqlite database for additional data as and when I need to (I'm assuming downloading sqlite database is allowed, please comment if otherwise). 3) Core Data is then able to union data from 1 & 2. I can then reference this unified data by calling my defined Core Data managed object model. Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

    Hello, I'm writing an iPad application that has a UIWebView which I open word and excel documents in, but I want the user to be able to import those documents into the iWorks applications, Pages and Numbers, just like how you can do it in Safari if you open a document. If you open a document in Safari on the iPad, there'll be a button on the top bar that says "Open in..." and you can choose applications to open in. You get the top bar to appear by tapping on middle of the page. So is there an option you can set to allow UIWebView to show up the bar and automatically detect the content type and populate the list with applications you can import in? Or do I have to build this myself? And if I have to build my own, how do I open URLs to import documents into Pages and Numbers etc? Thanks, -David

  • How can I know when SQL Full Text Index Population is finished?

    We are writing unit tests for our ASP.NET application that run against a test SQL Server database. That is, the ClassInitialize method creates a new database with test data, and the ClassCleanup deletes the database. We do this by running .bat scripts from code. The classes under test are given a connection string that connects to the unit test database rather than a production database. Our problem is, that the database contains a full text index, which needs to be fully populated with the test data in order for our tests to run as expected. As far as I can tell, the fulltext index is always populated in the background. I would like to be able to either: Create the full text index, fully populated, with a synchronous (transact-SQL?) statement, or Find out when the fulltext population is finished, is there a callback option, or can I ask repeatedly? My current solution is to force a delay at the end the class initialize method - 5 seconds seems to work - because I can't find anything in the documentation.

    I have two databases on one SQL 2008 server. Database 1 seems to be causing a lock on a table on database 2. There no queries are running on database 1 that should affect database 2. Is this normal behaviour? When I view the running queries with this command SELECT sqltext.TEXT, req.session_id, req.status, req.command, req.cpu_time, req.total_elapsed_time/1000 [seconds] FROM sys.dm_exec_requests req CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(sql_handle) AS sqltext it tells me as much, and says that the command on database 2 is suspended. I'm at a bit of a loss. What sort of things should I look at to work out why the table in database 2 is locked?

Unfortunately when examining sources of Android 1.6 I noticed that it's not so easy. Many classes including android.database.; packages use original provider, also many other parts of framework use android.database.sqlite.; packages directly, wich ofcourse make this abstraction a bit confusing and unnesesary. But going to my question. If there is any way that I could extend database interfaces to use custom implmentation of sqlite (or any other database)?

    Hello, I have some very simple SQL Compact database. I would like to use Entity Framework to access the database but for some reason I can't add an object to this database using EF.   • Can I use a single DateTime field on the Entity Framework model side when the value is stored in a set of Int fields in the actual database?

    The actual table in the database has separate integer fields for storing year, month, day, hour and minute values (all in UTC) (seconds and milliseconds are irrelevant for my task and considered equal to zero). Needless to say it would be of great convenience to have just one field of DateTime type on the application side and hide all the conversion under the cover of the Entity Framework model code. Any directions on how to do that? I am not very experienced with Entity Framework yet.

  • C# delegates problem

    Hello I am getting the following error from my C# Windows Application: Error 1 No overload for 'CreateLabelInPanel' matches delegate 'WorksOrderStore.ProcessDbConnDetailsDelegate' H:\c\WorksOrderFactory\WorksOrderFactory\WorksOrderClient.cs 43 39 WorksOrderFactory I have 3 .cs files that essentially: Opens a windows Has an option for the users to connect to a db When that is selected, the system will go off and connect to the db, and load some data in (just test data for now) Then using a delegate, the system should do soemthing, which for testing will be to create a label. However I haven't coded this part yet. But I can't build until I get this error sorted.
