I've accidentally switched my Windows XP Control Panel to "Classic Mode". How can I restore this back to the original Windows XP default (without reinstalling, of course)?
I have Gitorious running on a Centos 5.3 install on a VMWare virtual machine under VMWare Server. Everytime we take down the server via suspend to back up the image, and resume the VM, the git-daemon dies.
All my other processes continue to function without any problems, this one process dies and has to be manually be restarted.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening, or how to make sure this process never dies off?
I've taken a liking to the positioning of the Ubuntu titlebar buttons being on the left, and saw there is a program called Leftsider that does it on Windows 7.
However, I don't want to use a program to do that for me, and given that I'm confident with mucking around with the registry, I'd like to know where the reg entries for the Titlebar Button positions are.
Besides, doing it manually rather than automating the process gives me a chance to learn more about Windows!
I have a small SSD and I want to reclain the space currently used by the hiberfil.sys (~4GB) by disabling hybernation or perhaps preferably, move it to an HDD.
I see under "power Options" that "Sleep/Hibernate After" is set to "Never", yet I have this 4 GB hiberfil.sys file.
I don't see any other options pertaining to Hybernation.
how do I remove this file and keep it from coming back or relocate it to another drive, an HDD where I would not mind the frivelous writes to take place.
So on my Windows Server 2008 box, I have a DNS server installed on it. For some reason, every ten minutes or so, the Host (A) address for the computer keeps on changing to its internal private IP address. I want it to have its public address for Active Directory purposes, but it keeps changing itself back to the private IP address. Any idea as to why, and how to change it?
If it makes a difference, this is an Amazon EC2 server.
Thanks
I have outlook 2007. Is there a way in 2007 or the 2010 version to have all the emails posted to read for a certain contact. When I click history it takes about 2 minutes for it to load and is frustrating. As simple as this seems I simply want to see all the emails gone back and forth with a contact when I open that contact.
In command line, we have, for example, TAB, which autocomplete the commands.
In the GUI, we need just to select a text for Ubuntu to copy it. And the mouse middle button can be used to paste.
Which other "untold" secrets Ubuntu hides?
obs. I don't know which of the items I told are for any Linux or Ubuntu specific.
So, I've got a killer dual screen wallpaper that stretches across both monitors. The question is...when I lock my computer or if I logoff and log back in. It shows the default wallpaper on my left screen and leaves my right screen black...until I'm logged in then it shows my dual screen wallpaper.
Is there any ways to override the default wallpaper on the login screen?

Thanks in Advance,
I'm currently trying to debug a particularly hairy set of DNAT based iptables rules (the UDP reply never makes it back to the original requester) and I'm struggling to visualise the packet flow through all the numerous tables involved. So far Google'ing has shown me old 2.4 based ipchains ones. The netfilter site has some good text docs but is short on diagrams and a number of the external links are now dead.
So is there a canonical diagram for iptables packet flow, preferably showing how NAT/Masqueraded packets are also dealt with?
I found some blog posts about this, but it's rather lack of descriptions on possible side effects.
I could really use some detailed on these steps:
How to add a repo that provides PHP 5.4 into yum
Can this seamlessly replaces the current PHP version in CentOS?
How can I switch back to the official repo when it supports PHP 5.4? (current 5.3.3 in my system)
Will there be any potential to break PHP modules I currently using?
My HP Pavillion entertainment PC dv2000 does not boot up.
When I press the power button it turns and reads the CD and all the lights turn up, but does not go into boot mode.
What should I do? How do I troubleshoot a PC that won't even boot.
I'd really like to use chrome on my netbook, but I can't change the settings because the resolution is 1024*600 on Windows 7.
Is there any workaround? I tried the move window command with keyboard thinking that I could move the window up out of the screen enough for the ok button to appear, but the window always snaps back to screen so I can't press ok to save my settings...
On windows 7 instead of opening GIF on IE8 (The default) I set it to FF. When viewing the image on 'details' setting GIF images has a firefox logo instead of what they had before. How do i set it back? or select an ico (such as the one on XP).
We used to be able to add a custom search provider in Internet Explorer to search any site that put search words in the query string (such as in StackExchange sites). The page where that it was done was
http://www.ieaddons.com/gb/createsearch.aspx
However, this page now redirects to a generic IE Gallery page.
When I upgraded from IE8 to IE9, my StackOverflow provider carried over, but I recently reset my browser settings and am not able to get it back.
Can we easily create a custom search provider?
Hi there

Hi,
I want to make a ssl connection between Sun WebServer 7 and Weblogic application server.
My question is: Is is possible to mention a "trust" java keystore file in Sun java System web server 7 wl proxy configuration, where Trust keystore will contain public keys of all the Self-signed certificates used for back-end Weblogic application servers.
Thanks..!!
The clients can all connect through OpenVPN.
OpenVPN serves the following pool: server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0
I've configured the server's iptable with the following rule:
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.8.0.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
and
echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
This used to work back on the old vps I used. Now I've migrated to a vps which has ipv6 connectivity.
Is it possible that Ipv6 has something to do with the fact that the clients can't reach the internet?
I have Fallout Collection and I am trying to run it windowed because of the low resolution. When I change the mode to windowed via the .ini file, however, it starts the game with the window shoved into the upper left corner of my screen.
Clicking the title bar of the window just clicks back into the game program. So how can I move it to the center of my screen? I am using Windows 7 professional 64-bit.
I'm getting tired of waking up to my computer being turned on, and event log shows that it's waking up everyday at 3:40am and most times won't go back to sleep after the determined 30 minutes (maybe from being in the lock screen?).
There are no devices armed for wake, activation timers are disabled and all wake options disabled in the BIOS and energy star 4.0c is enabled (was disabled before but no difference).
I am using Powercenter 8 and I am not sure how I did it, but I have messed up the Expression Editor Layout, so now I am unable to see the expression that I am building. Does anyone know how to restore the screen back to its normal layout.
Thank you
The title says it all: I have a machine that has several partitions. I'd like to back it all up (preferably as a single image) and restore it to a single partition/maybe LVM. I've run into more and more trouble with the choice of partition sizes and decided it wasn't worth the trouble.
I have changed the icons on the shortcuts in the folder %AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar.
I have tried logging off and back on, and rebooting, but the icons remain the same.
Am I doing it wrong?
