    I have a C++ application that needs to support binary database content (images, etc). When using MS Access or MS SQL Server this data is wrapped inside an OLE object. How do I strip this OLE header information? Note that I can't just look for the beginning of a specific tag as the content can be png, jpg and a whole heap of other formats. Should I use something like COleDataObject?

    I am working on a Incoming and outgoing messages webform, I would like to show the users the only messages in their INBOX of one day behind. I have a dropdown where I'm giving the selection of All and Pending messages. But if the users have any pending messages in INBOX of just one day behind ,they have to choose All to retrieve the messages. So how do I retrieve messages from message table of just one day behind ? I am using SQL 2000 vb.net web application.

    I'm building a very simple ASP.NET MVC site that doesn't require a database and doesn't have user accounts or any other special ASP.NET stuff. When I first created the site with the ASP.NET MVC 1.0 site template in Visual Studio, the web.config page was configured to automatically connect to SQL Server Express as a User Instance. Can I completely remove this dependency? If so, how do I get rid of all this database stuff?

    In SQL Server, there is the option to use query hints. eg SELECT c.ContactID FROM Person.Contact c WITH (INDEX(AK_Contact_rowguid)) I am in the process of getting rid of unused indexes and was wondering how I could go about determining if an index was used as a query hint.     I'm trying to execute a PL/SQL function in EclipseLink which uses Oracle Specific types(eg. Boolean). I've tried using PLSQLStoredProcedureCall which complains that I'm not executing a procedure and I have tried using StoredFunctionCall but that returns PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type Has anyone developed a solution to invoke functions in EclipseLink with Oracle Types? I have heard that it would be possible to extend StoredFunctionCall but I'd rather leverage existing functionality as much as possible.

    I have a wiki system where there is a central table, Article, that has many Revisions in their own table. The Revisions each contain a created_at time and date column. I want to update the Articles to contain a denormalized field sort_name from the most recent Revision's name field. What SQL command can I issue to fill in each Article's sort_name field with its most recent Revision's name field? For what it's worth, I'm on PostgreSQL.
