• Connect to SVN repository with Netbeans using SVN+SSH

  Hello all, I am trying to connect to a SVN server in order to import my project into it with svn+ssh authentication method. I am using the NetBeans IDE (6.8) with subversion plugin installed on Windows XP SP2. I have plink installed with its path set in the Windows PATH env variable. When I use the similar looking repository URL (XXXX and YYYY replaced with sensible things) svn+ssh://XXXX@YYYY/home/dce/svn/trunk along with this external tunnel command plink -l <myUserName> -i C:\\privateKey.ppk I keep getting this error: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Network connection closed unexpectedly I searched about it on the Internet and tried many things but didn't work out. Please help if anybody has some idea what may be going wrong. Thanks a lot in advance.

  Is there a way to call "public" javascript functions from "private" ones within a class?   Using an NSPredicate for an array is rather straight forward using filteredArrayUsingPredicate:. How is this done for key-path values? Meaning, I have an array of objects (in this case, the objects are of the same type). The objects each have an instance variable called name. As per the documentation, it says to do the following: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat: @"ANY employees.firstName like 'Matthew'"]; Is that -also- used in filteredArrayUsingPredicate? • Can I force MySql table name case sensitivity on file systems that aren't case sensitive

  So our target environment is linux, making mysql case-sensitive by default. I am aware that we can make our linux environment not case sensitive with the lower_case_table_names variable, but we would rather not. We have a few times been bitten with a case mismatch because our dev rigs are OSX, and mysql is not case sensitive there. Is there a way we can force table names to be case sensitive on my OSX install of MySql (5.0.83 if that matters) so that we catch a table name case mismatch prior to deploying to the integration servers running on linux?

• Connect rails application to SQL Server 2005 from Windows

  Hi guys. I (sadly) have to deploy a rails application on Windows XP which has to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Surfing in the web there are a lot of hits for connect from Linux to SQL Server, but cannot find out how to do it from Windows. Basically I followed these steps: Install dbi gem Install activerecord-sql-server-adapter gem My database.yml now looks like this: development: adapter: sqlserver mode: odbc dsn: test_dj host: HOSTNAME\SQLEXPRESS database: test_dj username: guest password: guest But I'm unable to connect it. When I run rake db:migrate I get IM002 (0) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I'm not a Windows user, so cannot understand really well the meaning of dsn element or so. Does someone have an idea how to solve this? • How can I bind a winforms Opacity to a TrackBar (slider)

  I've got a winform with a BindingSource that has an int property named Opacity in its DataSource. I also have a TrackBar on the winform that I want to use to control the Opacity of the winform. I've bound the Value property on the TrackBar to the Opacity and that functions just fine, sliding the TrackBar will change the variable from TrackBar.Minimum (0) to TrackBar.Maximum (1). I've also bound the Opacity property of the winform to this value, however, since the TrackBar's values only go from Minimum to Maximum in +/-1 rather than +/- .1 or so (like Opacity does), it doesn't properly fade the winform. Instead, 0 will turn it opaque and 1 will turn it fully visible. I need a way to work within the architecture described above, but get the TrackBar to change its value from 0 to 1 in defined increments smaller than 1.

  What encoding are the elements of sys.argv in, in Python? are they encoded with the sys.getdefaultencoding() encoding? sys.getdefaultencoding(): Return the name of the current default string encoding used by the Unicode implementation. PS: As pointed out in some of the answers, sys.stdin.encoding would indeed be a better guess. I would love to see a definitive answer to this question, though, with pointers to solid sources! PPS: As Wim pointed out, Python 3 solves this issue by putting str objects in sys.argv (if I understand correctly). The question remains open for Python 2.x, though. Under Unix, the LC_CTYPE environment variable seems to be the correct thing to check, no? What should be done with Windows (so that sys.argv elements are correctly interpreted whatever the console)?

• how to set flex combobox cursor position

  I have a combobox implementation as follows - Based on user input (min 2 chars) in the editable combobox, the data provider is refreshed and drop-down opened, showing different data sets as user input varies. Problem is that after drop-down opens, the cursor moves back to the beginning. So for instance, the user types in "ab", and wants to type in "c" to form the search string "abc". Due to the cursor re-setting its position to 0, the search string instead ends up as "cab". Here's what I tried already (doesn't work) : textInput.mx_internal::getTextField().setSelection(index, index); where index = length of user input. This selects text from index to index (which effectively un-selects text) and is supposed to place the cursor at the end. Any thoughts?

Array ( [0] => 0 [1] => 5 ) Array ( [0] => 7 [1] => 9 ) Which if I decided to add the # character and the = character, it'd produce: #ABCDE=FG#HI=JK Is there any way I can do this without a complicated set of substr? Also, # and = need to be variables that can be of any length, not just one character.

• question on GWT and dockpanel , sizing and resizing

  Hello guys, question on dock panels within gwt So i want the dockpanel to take up the whole size of the browser window dockPanel.setSize("100%", "100%"); if this correct Next Question, i am going to add a north panel , that will be 100px high and take up the whole width of the browser topPanel.setSize("100%", "100px"); dockPanel.add(topPanel, DockPanel.NORTH); is this correct, then i want to add a west panel that is 200px wide and the whole length of the browser up to just under the north panel westSideStackPanel.setSize("200px","100%") mainPanel.add(westSideStackPanel,DockPanel.WEST); i have created all this but when i look at my dockpanel there is a big gap between the west panel and the north panel the whole way accross the screen. why would this be? The north panel stays at 100px, and then there is a gap of about 100px high the whole width of the screen.

• Why does Visual Studio 2008 change namespace characters in a generated file?

  Hello, I am working on a asp.net 3.5 project in sweden, where some of the namespaces include swedish characters, such as 'å', 'ä' and 'ö'. When building the project and generating the design-file, visual studio replaces these characters with some other strange characters. This only happens when the characters occur in a namespace or class name. If a field or variable contain a swedish character, everything works fine. To clarify, the strange character occur in the design file when a namespace and/or control contain swedish characters. Does anyone know why this happens and if there is a solution for the problem that doesn't mean changing the names of the namespaces? Sincerely, Fredrik

  I need to get a range of pages using AJAX and put them into an array, where their given place in the array is equal to the i of a for loop (it's a caching-like function for blog pages, and the range of the for loop is entirely variable).   I want to use boost::crc so that it works exactly like PHP's crc32() function. I tried reading the horrible documentation and many headaches later I haven't made any progress. Apparently I have to do something like: int GetCrc32(const string& my_string) { return crc_32 = boost::crc<bits, TruncPoly, InitRem, FinalXor, ReflectIn, ReflectRem>(my_string.c_str(), my_string.length()); } bits should be 32.. What the other things are is a mystery. A little help? ;)

• EJB3 Business Delegates

  Is there any reason for making delegate when using EJB3? Because the only real benefit i see from delegate is that it allows to hide lookup and access details of EJB architecture. Well it also provides some decoupling but it's mostly unused, imho. With EJB3 we have injection so now i can just create a variable with @EJB annotation and use it as is. Do i still need delegates? Is this injection resource consuming? I mean if i use it in JSF's request managed beans may be it's still better to use delegates just to lessen these injection calls? Thank you!

• How do I make a shortcut for a Perl program under Windows using a DOS batch file?

  I'm trying to "hide" some of my perl program from the end user to make things easier on them. I'm doing what I can to keep them out of the command prompt. The program itself has a GUI designed in Perl/Tk, so they don't have to worry about the command prompt. Could I write out a quick batch file that goes along the lines of: START perl 'C:\[some path here]\myscript.pl' with START to start a program, the perl interpretor as my program, and the path/name of my perl script as the parameter? Would I have to specify where to find perl or would Windows just know because perl is in the computer's PATH variable? Thanks for the help!

  Hi I have a string that must fit into a box, and must be at most 3 lines long. To shorten it, I plan to truncate it and end it with '...'. I could shorten it to a certain # of characters but if i make it look good with "wwwwwwwww [...] wwww" it won't look right with "iiiiiiiiiii [...] iiii". Is there some way I can shorten it by how much space the string would take up, as opposed to how many characters there are in a string without using a fixed-width font? Ideally I'd like to do this server-side (php) but recognize that actual character width stuff is far more likely to be feasible client-side (JS / jQuery) Mala ps. Please no "simply create an image of '...' and overlay it over the end of the line" hacks or similar - I actually want to shorten the string to the appropriate length

• How does a debug build make reverse engineering easy?

  Some answer here stated that debug info would make it easier to reverse engineer the software. When I use Visual C++ and distribute an executable with debugging information but without other files (.pdb), will it contain any interesting things? I looked to the executable with a hex editor and found nothing like symbol names, for now I assume the .exe file just links to information in the .pdb files, right? Do you know whether it contains variable names? function/member names? line numbers? anything interesting? Thanks!
