  • ASP.NET Dates Deployment Issue

    Hi guys, I recently bought some webspace with dailyrazor.com. I have deployed an application I have been working on to the server and am currently trying to workout the bugs but I can't seem to solve this one. I have set up my database in Visual Studio to use the one I have create with dailyrazor the same db the deployed version will use. I am using British Dates and on my localhost datetime is displayed: 27/05/2010 09:00 However on the dailyrazor host it is displayed: 5/27/2010 9:00 AM Short Dates e.g. 27/04/2010 display the same on both servers. This is causing some issues when entering data as errors occur on date fields. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jon

    The following code will send a cookie to the user as part of the response: var cookie = new HttpCookie("theAnswer", "42"); cookie.Expires = DateTime.Now.AddDays(7); Response.Cookies.Add(cookie); The cookie is of the persistent type, which by most browsers will be written to disk and used across sessions. That is, the cookie is still on the client's PC tomorrow, even if the browser and the PC has been closed in between. After a week, the cookie will be deleted (due to line #2). Non-persistent/in-memory cookies are another bread of cookies, which have a lifespan determined by the duration of the client's browsing session. Usually, such cookies are held in memory, and they are discarded when the browser is closed. How do I assign an in-memory cookie from ASP.NET?

    Hey guys, I'm currently thinking about caching most of my viewdata excpt user specific data after a user logs on. I thought the simplest way was caching the ViewData object itself and adding the user specific data after it was loaded. Are there any downsides of this approach?     I am trying to reproduce a SQL query using a LINQ to Entities query. The following SQL works fine, I just don't see how to do it in LINQ. I have tried for a few hours today but I'm just missing something.   • GNU Smalltalk text interface hard to use

    I built GNU Smalltalk from source on my Mac because I couldn't get it working using fink and I found VMs like Squeak hard to understand. When I run the gst command it works fine, but unlike command line interfaces such the Python and Lua ones, it is hard to use because when I use the left or right arrow keys, I want the cursor to move left or right, but instead it inserts text like "^[[D". I understand why it does this but is there any way to fix it so it is more usable?

  • PHP - Short hand if statement with a date format with weird output.

    I am using a short hand notation of an if statement to format a field. If the field is an empty string I leave it as an empty string, if not then I am trying to format it to a proper datetime format so it can be inserted into a mysql db. here is my php code $date = ($date == '') ? date("Y-m-d", strtotime($date)) : $date; for some reason when the $date string is not empty it is returning it int he format 'm/d/Y' example: 04/01/2010 When I pull the code out of the shorthand if $date = date("Y-m-d", strtotime($date)); print($date); it is formatted correctly like this 'Y-m-d' or 2010-04-01. Does anyone know why this happens? Thanks

    I need to visualize some scientific calculations. I generally prefer reusing code if there is already a good available instead of inventing wheels each time, that's why I am asking. I need a C# code to draw charts (just outputting a bitmap is ok) of 2d (y=f(x)) and 3d (z=f(x,y)) digital data sets (where any axis can be float, int or datetime), sometimes combined. If I go here and click 3D in the navigation bar on the left, there I can see what I need. But the cheapest version costs $759 there, looks scary for a hobby project of an east-european student :-(

  • Best way to get record counts grouped by month, adjusted for time zone, using SQL or LINQ to SQL

    I'm looking for the most efficient way to suck out a series of monthly counts of records in my database, but adjusting for time zone, since the times are actually stored as UTC. I would like my result set to be a series of objects that include month, year and count. I have LINQ to SQL objects that looks something like this: public class MyRecord { public int ID { get; set; } public DateTime TimeStamp { get; set; } public string Data { get; set; } } I'm not opposed to using straight SQL, but LINQ to SQL would at least keep the code a lot more clean. The time zone adjustment is available as an integer (-5, for example). Again, the result set what I'm looking for is objects containing the month, year and count, all integers. Any suggestions? I can think of several ways to do it straight, but not with a time zone adjustment.

  • Table not Echoing out if another Table has a Zero value

    Hello, The table below with mysql_query($sqlStr3) (the one with the word "Joined" in its row) does not echo if the result associated with mysql_query($sqlStr1) has a value of zero. This happens even if mysql_query($sqlStr3) returns a result. In other words, if a given loginid has an entry in the table "login", but not one in the table "submission", then the table associated with mysql_query($sqlStr3) does not echo. I don't understand why the "submission" table would have any effect on mysql_query($sqlStr3), since the $sqlStr3 only deals with another table, called "login", as seen below. Any ideas why this is happening? I want to compare every point in a list to another point. So, as we do in java or python- for(int i;i<list.size();i++){ if (list[i]> k){ //do something } } How can I do similar thing in scheme?
