    I would like to know how to create a php function that can be installed in php just like the already built in functions like : rename copy The main point I would like to achieve is a simple php function that can be called from ANY php page on the whole host without needing to have a php function within the php page / needing an include. so simply I would like to create a function that will work like this : location(); That without a given input string will output the current location of the file via echo etc

  • 8bpp Bitmap format on the Compact Framework

I am messing around with Conway's Game of Life - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway's_Game_of_Life I started out coding algorithmns for winforms and now want to port my work onto windows mobile 6.1 (compact framework). I came across an article by Jon Skeet where he compared several different algorithmns for calculating next generations in the game. He used an array of bytes to store a cells state (alive or dead) and then he would copy this array to an 8bpp bitmap. For each new generation, he works out the state of each byte, then copies the array to a bitmap, then draws that bitmap to a picturebox. void CreateInitialImage() { bitmap = new Bitmap(Width, Height, PixelFormat.Format8bppIndexed); ColorPalette palette = bitmap.Palette; palette.Entries[0] = Color.Black; palette.Entries[1] = Color.White; bitmap.Palette = palette; } public Image Render() { Rectangle rect = new Rectangle(0, 0, Width, Height); BitmapData bmpData = bitmap.LockBits(rect, ImageLockMode.ReadWrite, bitmap.PixelFormat); Marshal.Copy(Data, 0, bmpData.Scan0, Data.Length); bitmap.UnlockBits(bmpData); return bitmap; } His code above is beautifully simple and very fast to render. Jon is using Windows Forms but now I want to port my own version of this onto Windows Mobile 6.1 (Compact Framework) but . . . .there is no way to format a bitmap to 8bpp in the cf. Can anyone suggest a way of rendering an array of bytes to a drawable image in the CF. This array is created in code on the fly (it is NOT loaded from an image file on disk). I basically need to store an array of cells represented by bytes, they are either alive or dead and I then need to draw that array as an image. The game is particularly slow on the CF so I need to implement clever optimised algoritmns but also need to render as fast as possible and the above solution would be pretty dam perfect if only it was available on the compact framework.   • C# / Filter input of a textbox and display notification balloon

    I'm wondering how to filter the input of a .NET textbox. I already know that I could listen for the KeyDown event and intercept the key, but that won't filter pasted strings by a right-click menu or a CTRL+V. I also don't wan't to completely disable the possibility of pasting of characters in the textbox. The paste action should be cancelled whenever it contains one or more invalid characters. Finally, I'd like to display a notification balloon whenever invalid characters are either entered or pasted. µTorrent already has this exact behavior: How can I achieve this functionality in C# ?

  • How to deal with databases for websites written in Java, more specifically Wicket?

    Hi there. I'm new to website development using Java but I've got started with Wicket and make a little website. I'd like to expand on what I've already made (a website with a form, labels and links) and implement database connectivity. I've looked at a couple of examples, in example Mystic Paste, and I see that they're using Hibernate and Spring. I've never touched Hibernate or Spring before and to be honest the heavy use of annotations scare me a little bit as I haven't really made use of them before, with the exception of supressing warnings and overriding. At this point I have one Connection object which I set up in the WebApplication class upon initialization. I then retrieve this connection object whenever I need to perform queries. I don't know if this is a bad approach or not for a production web application. All help is greatly appreciated.

    I know it's a very common question, but I don't see a previous one to be asked, since I'm interested in the basic steps, nothing in particular. It's the first time I want to license one of my projects, and it turns out, I don't know much about it. Let's say I want to use the MIT License. Do I just take the definition and paste it into my files? Does it need to be in ALL the files, or just one? or? I don't want any fancy rights so MIT has been recommended to me, do you suggest something else? I'm looking for impartial opinions. Thanks. What other aspects must I take into account? It's PHP, btw.

    I am trying to track performance on some procedures that run too slow (and seem to keep getting slower). I am using v$session_longops to track how much work has been done, and I have a query (sofar/((v$session_longops.LAST_UPDATE_TIME-v$session_longops.start_time)*24*60*60)) that tells me the rate at which work is being done. What I'd like to be able to do is capture the rate at which work is being done and how it changes over time. Right now, I just re-execute the query manually, and then copy/paste to Excel. Not very optimal, especially when the phone rings or something else happens to interrupt my sampling frequency. Is there a way to have script in SQL*Plus run a query evern n seconds, spool the results to a file, and then continue doing this until the job ends? (Oracle 10g)

  • Accessing the DI container from anywhere

    I've implemented the Symfony2 Dependency Injection container in my Zend Framework project and it works fine in the MVC layer of my application. I've initialized the DIC in my bootstrap and can access it anywhere by calling: Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance()->getParam('bootstrap')->getDic() The problem is that there are some parts of my application that do not utilize the Zend Framework application/MVC layer. My CLI tools for example. I could perfectly initialize a new DIC there but that would just be some copy paste work from the Bootstrap file which is asking for trouble down the road (DRY principles, etc) Is it a better solution to make my DIC available in the Zend_Registry or as a singleton called by a static method DIC::getInstance() for example? I know Registry and singletons are considered bad things but the DIC is such a high level part of the application that I will probably never run into the problems that make it a bad thing. Is this a good solution or are there better ways of accomplishing a globally accessible DIC?

    Hello, I'm a VMware user and far too often I use keyboard shortcuts while programming. However, this has proved to be quite distressing as sometimes the VMware gets hold of it and turns off / pauses (ctrl+Z) the virtual machine. Is there a way to disable keyboard shortcuts on VMware? Has anyone here ever found a workaround?

    There was this old sql server tool called Lectoneth or something like that, you'd put sql queries in it, and it would rewrite it for you. I think quest bought them out, but I can't find where to download a free copy of that software. Really helps when you have no dba, and have lots of sql queries to rewrite. Thanks Craig

  • iPhone RSS thumbnail

    I have a simple RSS reader. Stories are downloaded, put into a UITableView, and when you click it, each story loads in a UIWebView. It works great. Now though, I'd like to incorporate an image on the left side (like you'd see in the YouTube app). However, since my app pulls from an RSS feed, I can't simply specify image X to appear in row X because row X will be row Y tomorrow, and things will get out of order, you know? I am currently pulling from a YouTube RSS feed, and can get the video title, description, publication date, but I'm stuck as to how to pull the little thumbnail besides each entry in the feed. As you can probably tell, I'm a coding newbie (this being my first application other than a Hello World app) and I'm getting so frustrated by my own lack of knowledge. Thanks!
