  • Line break in the mailto onclick

    - by malaki1974
    The code below works great except the email has all the text on one line like this: Height: 60 | Diagonal: 123 | Width: 107 | Total SF: 13.92 | Cost Per SF: 450 | Total Cost: $6,264.00 I would like to break after each so it looks like this: Height: 60 Diagonal: 123 Width: 107 Total SF: 13.92 Cost Per SF: 450 Total Cost: $6,264.00 I tried \n \r \n\r etc but none of them work. Any ideas? <a class="emailText" href="mailto:?subject=Screen Dimensions" onclick="this.href='mailto:?subject=Screen Dimensions&body='+'Height: '+document.forms.myform.high.value+' | '+'Diagonal: '+document.forms.myform.diagonal.value+' | '+'Width: '+document.forms.myform.wide.value+' | '+'Total SF: '+document.forms.myform.sf.value+' | '+'Cost Per SF: '+document.forms.myform.csf.value+' | '+'Total Cost: '+document.forms.myform.tc.value">Email</a>

  • jQuery: Trouble inserting DOM elements

    - by Rosarch
I want to add a set of lists to the children of another DOM element: var req_subsets = $("#req_subsets"); $.each(subsets, function(index, subset) { var subset_list = $("<ul></ul>"); // add DOM elements to subset_list req_subsets.append(subset_list); }); However, only one DOM element is ever added. This makes me suspect that when I assign a new value to subset_list, the old one is overwritten. If that is the problem, how do I avoid it? If not, what else am I doing wrong? UPDATE: I changed something else, and I'm almost entirely certain that this is fixed.

  • Stack Overflow like Watermarks in Forms

    - by Kaushik Gopal
Hey people, I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere that talks of how to style your input forms in a more "usable" way. Essentially, you have a placeholder value and when you enter the input, it hides the hint so to speak. Now, just to be clear: I don't want the hint (placeholder value text) to disappear onFocus, but rather to go lighter when I first start typing something. Good e.gs: Check out the forms on Aardvark http://vark.com/. This is exactly how I wish to have my input forms. Our very own stackoverflow. When you try to ask a question, on clicking inside any input form, it doesn't hide the text right away. You see your cursor as well as the hint. but when you start to type, it hides the hint(I would prefer having it go to a much lighter shade rather than hiding all together, like above example). I remember very clearly reading a tutorial somewhere on the interwebz with this exact requirement, but darn forgot to bookmark it. Any suggestions/links?

  • NodeJS vm.runInThisContext() and lack of __filename

    - by rFactor
Whenever I run vm.runInThisContext(code, filename), the ran code reports __filename and __dirname as undefined. This also leads to the situation that any fs.readFile and such calls will not work with relative paths. For example this does not work: fs.readFile('../file', fn); because it does not know where to relate the path to. Specifying the filename as /home/full/path/to/file.js for vm.runInThisContext function does not seem to matter at all. How can I make Node to understand the path to the file?

  • Dynamic Frame Creation

    - by piluso
Hi, I have a web page, normal no fuzz or weird stuff. And I want to trap that page inside an html frame when a user clicks on a given link. The thing is i don't want to reload the page. Some kind of dynamic DOM trickery seems the way to go, but to no avail in my tests. If anyone has any ideas it would be great! Thanks

  • Pass a function as parameter in jQuery?

    - by thedp
Hello, I would like to pass to a jQuery function a regular function, instead of the usual anonymous function, but I'm not sure how such a thing could be done. Instead of this: function setVersion(feature) { $.post("some.php", { abc:"abc" }, function(data){ // do something here }, "json"); } I would like to do this: function foo(data){ // do something here } function setVersion(feature) { $.post("some.php", { abc:"abc" }, foo, "json"); } Thank you.

  • I have a bunch of images being shown on click via JQuery - any easy way to animate this?

    - by Cenk
    This is the (quite simple) JS code I'm using: $(document).ready(function() { $(".button-list .next").click(function() { project = $(this).parents().filter(".projektweb").eq(0); currentimg = project.find(".images-list li.current"); nextimg = currentimg.next(); firstimg = project.find(".images-list li:first"); currentimg.removeClass("current"); if (nextimg.is("li")) nextimg.addClass("current"); else firstimg.addClass("current"); return false; }); $(".button-list .prev").click(function() { project = $(this).parents().filter(".projektweb").eq(0); currentimg = project.find(".images-list li.current"); previmg = currentimg.prev(); lastimg = project.find(".images-list li:last"); currentimg.removeClass("current"); if (previmg.is("li")) previmg.addClass("current"); else lastimg.addClass("current"); return false; }); }); And this is how the HTML code for the image list looks like: <ul class="images-list"> <li class="current"><img src="img/1.jpg" alt="" /></li> <li><img src="img/1b.jpg" alt="" /></li> </ul> <ul class="button-list"> <li><a class="button prev" href="#">?</a></li> <li><a class="button next" href="#">?</a></li></ul> The CSS: .images-list { height: 460px; list-style-type:none; float:left; width: 460px; overflow:hidden; position:relative; } .images-list img { height: 460px; width: 460px; display:block; } .images-list li { display:none; } .images-list li.current { display:block; } What I'd like to do is animate the images as they come and go - right now they just appear, which is OK but a bit more eye-candy would be nice. Can anyone help me out here? It it even possible to do it this way? Thanks!!

  • jQuery: Preventing list scroll?

    - by Legend
I have this scenario: Using an ajax query I fetch some data items and push them into a ul element as an li element. I use $("ulele").append(new_li_item). I wrote my own custom scroll for this ul element using the following whenever an event is detected: $("ulele").animate({scrollTop: '+=' + 200}, 'slow'); The problem is when I fire that event and the list scrolls due to the animate function above, I want to keep it stable for at least a few seconds. When it scrolls down, elements are still being pushed so the list keeps scrolling no matter what. Is there a way I can pause this from happening without really stopping the activity of pushing elements into the ul list?

  • Get all Select Elements in a Form by referencing $(this) instead of $("form select")

    - by DaveDev
Hi Guys I'm currently getting all the Select elements that exist in a form with the following: $("form").submit(function(event) { // gather data var data = GetSelectData($("form select")); // do submit $.post($(this).attr("action"), data, ..etc) }); Instead of passing in $("form select"), is there a way I can say something like $(this).children('select') // this doesn't work, btw to get all the select elements that exist within the context of the form the submit event is executing for? This will allow me to reduce my code to the following, moving all the functionality into a common function: $("form").submit(function(event) { GatherDataAndSubmit($(this)); }); function GatherDataAndSubmit(obj) { var data = GetSelectData(obj.children('select')); $.post(obj.attr("action"), data, ..etc) } Thanks Dave

  • jQuery .trigger() or $(window) not working in Google Chrome

    - by Jonathan
I have this jQuery ajax navigation tabs plugin that I created using some help from CSS-Tricks.com and the jQuery hashchange event plugin (detects hash changes in browsers that don't support it). The code is little long to post it here but it goes something like this: Part 1) When a tab is clicked, it gets the href attribute of that tab and add it to the browsers navigation bar like '#tab_name': window.location.hash = $(this).attr("href"); Part 2) When the navigation bar changes (hash change), it gets the href change like this: window.location.hash.substring(1); (substring is to get only 'tab_name' without the '#'), and then call the ajax function to get the info to display. I want to automatically trigger the plugin to load the first tab when the page is accessed, so at the start of the code I put: if (window.location.hash === '') { // If no '#' is in the browser navigation bar window.location.hash = '#tab_1'; // Add #tab_1 to the navigation bar $(window).trigger('hashchange'); // Trigger a hashchange so 'Part 2' of the plugin calls the ajax function using the '#tab_1' added } The probles is that it works in FF but not in Chrome, I mean, everything works but it seems like the $(window).trigger('hashchange'); is not working because it doesnt get the first tab.. Any suggestions??

  • Google Chrome Extension : Port: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist

    - by tcornelis
I have been looking for an answer for almost a week now, but having read all the stackoverflow items i can't seem to find a solution that is working for me. The error that i'm having is : Port: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist. lastError:30 set lastError:30 dispatchOnDisconnect messaging:277 folder layout : img developer_icon.png js sidebar.js main.js jquery-2.0.3.js manifest.json my the manifest.json file looks something like this (it is version 2) :` "browser_action": { "default_icon": "./img/developer_icon.png" }, "content_scripts": [ { "matches": ["*://*/*"], "js": ["./js/sidebar.js"], "run_at": "document_end" } ], "background" : { "scripts" : ["./js/main.js","./js/jquery-2.0.3.js"] }, I want to handle the user clicking the extension icon so i could inject a sidebar in the existing website (because the extension i would like to develop requires that amount of space). So in main.js : chrome.browserAction.onClicked.addListener(function(tab) { chrome.tabs.getSelected(null, function(tab){ chrome.tabs.sendMessage( //Selected tab id tab.id, //Params inside a object data {callFunction: "toggleSidebar"}, //Optional callback function function(response) { console.log(response); } ); }); }); and in sidebar.js : chrome.runtime.onMessage.addListener(function(req,sender,sendResponse){ console.log("sidebar handling request"); toggleSidebar(); }); but i'm never able to see the console.log in my console because of the error. Does someone know what i did wrong? Thanks in advance!

  • Help with accessing a pre-existing window AFTER opener is refreshed!

    - by Wilhelm Murdoch
Alright, I'm at my wit's end on this issue. First, backstory. I'm working on a video management system where we're allowing users, when adding new content, to upload and, optionally, transcode a media file. We're using Java applet for the browser-based FTP client. What I want to do is allow a user to initiate an upload and then send the FTP connection instance to a popup window. This window will act as a job queue for the FTP transfer process. This will allow users to move about the main interface without having to stay on the original page until an individual file transfer is complete. For the most part I have all of this working, but here's a problem. If the window is closed, all connections are dropped and the upload process for all queued files will be canceled. So, if Window One opens the Popup Window, adds stuff to the queue, refreshes the screen or moves to a different page, how will I access the Popup Window? The popup window and its contents must remain persistent while the user navigates through the original window. The original window must be able to access the popup to add a new job to the queue. The popup window itself is independent of the opening window, so communication only happens in one direction: Parent - Popup Not Parent <- Popup Window.open(null, 'WINDOW_NAME'); will not work in this case. I need to check if a window exists BEFORE using window.open. Help!?!?

  • Google Chrome and (cache or memory leaks).

    - by Alexey Ogarkov
Hello All, I have a big problem with Google Chrome and its memory. My app is displaying to user several image charts and reloads them every 10s. In the interval i have code like that var image = new Image(); var src = 'myurl/image'+new Date().getTime(); image.onload = function() { document.getElementById('myimage').src = src; image.onload = image.onabort = image.onerror = null; } image.src = src; So i have no memory leaks in Firefox and IE. Here the response headers for images Server Apache-Coyote/1.1 Vary * Cache-Control no-store (// I try no-cache, must-revalidate and so on here) Content-Type image/png Content-Length 11131 Date Mon, 31 May 2010 14:00:28 GMT Vary * taken from here In about:cache page there is no my cached images. If i enable purge-memory-button for chrome (--purge-memory-button parameter) it`s not help. Images is in PNG24. So i think that the problem is not in cache. May be Google Chrome is not releasing memory for old images. Please help. Any suggestions. Thanks.

  • Is there a way to exit a Greasemonkey script?

    - by SimpleCoder
I know that you can use return; to return from a Greasemonkey script, but only if you aren't in another function. For example, this won't work: // Begin greasemonkey script function a(){ return; // Only returns from the function, not the script } // End greasemonkey script Is there a built in Greasemonkey function that would allow me to halt execution of the script, from anywhere in the script? Thank you,

  • How to remove JQuery from the Window/make the GC take it.

    - by Itay Moav
I have a page, when loaded it does some stuff with JQ. In the next phase I want to load mootools and remove all JQ stuff, to avoid collisions and to avoid memory leaking. I am not giving you the all picture (to simplify the question), but assume I am not doing something stupid here, and it needs to be done how I am asking it.

  • CSS/JS: Evenly spreading elements across multiple lines

    - by David Lawson
How would you go about evenly spreading elements across multiple lines, for example: wrapper div: <div style="text-align: center"> elements inside: <div style="display: inline-block; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px;">Element</div> Instead of only having one element on the next line (wrapped): Element 1 Element 2 Element 3 Element 4 Element 5 Element 6 It does this, spreading out the elements: Element 1 Element 2 Element 3 Element 4 Element 5 Element 6
