  I have been playing around with Silverlight & F# and tried to make a Silverlight 4 application in VS2010 Professional. When I try and compile my application I get the following error message... • jQuery / Spry Validation / Problem

  Hi Chaps, I have a PHP form with one input and a button. A jQuery script ('loading' animated gif) is triggered on the click of the submit button. I also have a Spry Validation field linked to the input. At the moment, if the validation is triggered, the animated gif continues and won't stop. The furthest I've managed to get with it, is to click the validation message to stop the animation, but what I'm really after is to stop the animation when the validation is visible/triggered, but I can't find a suitable Event. $(function() { $("#button_download") .click(function() { }) .throbber(); $("#sprytextfield1") .click(function(sprytextfield1) { $.throbberHide(); }) }); If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be sweet.

• ASP.NET MVC Head Verb and Selenium RC

  Selenium (RC) is being used to test an ASP.NET 1.1 site. When we make a request via Selenium RC (and then in turn via Firefox or other configured browser) the http verb is "HEAD". We have several form action methods that have separate POST and GET methods decorated with AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get). These methods are returning a 404 and logging a "a public action method could not be found" error message. Questions: When writing separate Get/Post action methods what is the best practice for handling the Head verb? Should we always decorate with an AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get | HttpVerbs.Head)? The only time we've seen HEAD verbs is from Selenium and from some crawlers. We created robots.txt entries for the crawlers. Does anyone know why HEAD verbs are issued via Selenium (instead of an If-Modified-Since header)? Are there mainstream crawlers that use the HEAD verb? Does it affect SEO ranking to not have it?

• Cannot Debug Visual Basic 6 ActiveX Component On 64-bit OS

  Hi, The situation might sound a bit weird but I have to play with what I have. There's a Win2003 64-bit server OS and a legacy application written using Visual Studio 6. The app consists of two parts: ActiveX components written in VB6 and C++ code which uses them. I need to debug the components' code. I installed Visual Studio 6 on the server and I'm able to step into the component's code. Then I got following situation: 1) C++ code works until it needs to instantiate component A. 2) At this step we switch to VB6 and start debugging Component's A. 3) In the very beginning component A creates an instance of a class C exposed by component B. At this step VB6 debugger shows error message with title "OLEDB32.DLL" and following text: "Failed to load resource DLL C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\Ole DB\OLEDB32R.DLL" Additional information: The last step in initialization of the class C is opening an ADO connection to SQL server using OLEDB provider. I'd appreciate any ideas on how resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.

• How to get Tomcat Working on WIndows 7?

  I have installed Apache Tomcat 5.X/6.X on my Winodws 7 PC. After the installaiton the service starts fine when I check the Start Tomcat box and click finish. However If I try to start the tomcat configuration tool or monitor tool from the start menu I can not start any of the Tomcat's services. I get an error in a message box stating "Access Deined. Unable to open Tomcat 5.5". What seems to be the problem? and How can I solve it? Even restarting the PC won't help. I also have JDK and JRE installed. Turing the firewall doesn't work too. Please Help! Note that I'm running 32bit Version of Windows 7.

  Guys and Gals, a really stupid question: How do I run a PowerShell script? I have a script named myscript.ps1 I have all the necessary frameworks installed I set that execution policy thing I have followed the instructions on this MSDN help page and am trying to run it like so: powershell.exe 'C:\my_path\yada_yada\run_import_script.ps1' (with or withot --noexit) which returns exactly nothing, except that the file name is output. No error, no message, nothing. Oh, when I add -noexit, the same thing happens but I remain within Powershell, and have to exit manually. The ps1 file is supposed to run a program, and return the error level dependant on that program's output. But I'm quite sure I'm not even getting there yet. What am I doing wrong?

• C# - Layout problem on Windows XP professional

  I am developing a C# application with .NET Framework 2.0. The problem is, that on my client's PC, the controls get expanded, layout changes (positions of the controls gets changed), sometimes buttons get missed entirely. It happens even on Forms with 2-3 TextBoxes, 2-3 Buttons and some Labels. I tried a lot of investigations. I tried to show a message in the form's resize event. But it doesn't get called. After digging a bit more, it seemed that in Designer.cs file even though ResumeLayout (false) is being called for the form, but this causes the the expansion/disposition of the controls. My Client is using Windows XP professional on his Dell laptop. He is able to reproduce the issue on other laptops with Windows XP professional. But not in other OSes (like Windows XP Home or Windows Vista). In my desktop with Windows XP professional, it is not reproducible. How can this issue be resolved?

  Hi everyone, I would like to implement asynchronous email sending in my web application when users register for a new account. This is so that if there is a problem or delay in sending the email message (e.g. the mail server is down or the network connection to the mail server is slow) the user won't be kept waiting for the sending to complete. My web app is built using Spring and Hibernate's implementation of JPA. What would be the best and most reliable way for me to implement asynchronous email processing in this web application? I am thinking about persisting the email information in a database table which is then regularly polled by a Quartz (http://www.opensymphony.com/quartz/) scheduled job for updates and when it finds new unsent emails, it attempts to send them. Is this a reasonable way of implementing what I want? Thanks.

  I've been looking at ways to implement gmail-like messaging inside a browser, and arrived at the Comet concept. However, I haven't been able to find a good .NET implementation that allows me to do this within IIS (our application is written in ASP.NET 2.0). The solutions I found (or could think of, for that matter) require leaving a running thread per user - so that it could return a response to him once he gets a message. This doesn't scale at all, of course. So my question is - do you know of an ASP.NET implementation for Comet that works in a different way? Is that even possible with IIS?

• Creating a future proof .NET 3.5 SP1 installer prerequisite for setup.exe AND the .MSI

  I've demanded .NET 3.5 SP1 a la http://stackoverflow.com/questions/88136/will-a-vs2008-setup-project-update-net-3-5-sp1. This makes the setup.exe check correctly. I've also added a "SP1" launch condition to my MSI so it doesn't let the user install my .NET 3.5SP1 app via launching the MSI (and replaced the [VSDNETMSG] in the Framework condition message with one that actually mentions SP1). From a future proofing point of view, this feels wrong. I want the condition to be: (NETVer=3.5 AND Net35SPLevel=1) OR (NETVer=>3.5) not (NETVer=3.5 AND Net35SPLevel=1) Is there any way to do that? The framework check doesnt have a condition property to allow me to add a sub-condition... Yes, I could also just not worry my pretty little head about it :P If one of the MS versioning experts out there reads this, if you're going to put stuff that code depends on into SPs, can you please make the installer be able to check for it OOTB. (I really wish they had come up with a better numbering scheme - the world and its dog could see that this was going to get confusing)

• WWSAPI and setting "soapenv:Header" values

  I'm trying to connect to a web service from a C++ app using WWS. I got the base connection working just fine. My XML message has two parts though, a header (soapenv:Header) and a body (soapenv:Body). the generated functions only fill in the body. How do I set the Header information? I assumed it has something to do with WsSetHeader() or WsAddCustomHeader() but can't seam to find the right values to use in the parameters. Can someone point me in the right direction here? I've been googling and trying to research this now for several days and am finding many sources for basic help with WWSAPI, but nothing seams to go deeper into how to use it for more advanced applications. any good links or resources to find more advanced help on WWSAPI? • What should I use for the .SWF path in FlowPlayer's configuration if I'm developing from my desktop?

  I'm having an extremely difficulty time getting the flowplayer to show up and the worst part is I have no idea what is wrong because I'm not getting any error messages! I have an external javascript file: C:/desktop/mysite/js/jq/plugins.js calling $f() from: C:/desktop/mysite/thirdparty/flowplayer/flowplayer.js the swf files also live there... • SSIS For Each File Loop and File System Task to copy Files

  I'm using a files system task inside a for each loop container, just as described here: link text However, when I execute the package I get this error: [File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "The process cannot access the file 'C:\Book1.xlsx' because it is being used by another process.". I do not have the file open, and I assume no one else does, as I am able to copy, and open, and overwrite the file. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't have any problem in getting contact information but when I send those Contacts after few messages there is Alert Window pop up saying "A large number of message have being send" and ask if you want to send or not. I am testing this application on HTC Hero. Is this problem is for specific mobiles or for all? I don't know what should i do to avoid this window because I cant get SMS Sent event.   Hi Everybody, I have just installed Magento on Windows using WAMP. Installation was successfull without any errors or warnings. When i browse administration page, i can see login screen. After entering the correct credentials it is not displaying me the Dashboard/Control Panel. Its displaying the same login page. If i enter wrong credentials, its authenticating and displaying a message as "invalid username or password" I am unable to determine the issue. If anybody has been through this issue and solved it please help me. How can i login Magento administration. Note: While installation i have selected session=Database. Will that be a issue?
