• How do I get the users location latitude and longitude?

- by kevin Mendoza
I need to access the users location in this method contained in the mainViewController -(void)loadAnnotations{ [mapView removeAnnotations:mapView.annotations]; CLLocationCoordinate2D workingCoordinate; workingCoordinate.latitude= //here i need the users latitude workingCoordinate.longitude= //here i need the users longitude NSLog(@" this is %@", workingCoordinate.latitude); iProspectLiteAnnotation *tempMine = [[iProspectLiteAnnotation alloc] initWithCoordinate:workingCoordinate]; [tempMine setTitle:@"Present Location"]; [tempMine setAnnotationType:iProspectLiteAnnotationTypeUser]; [mapView addAnnotation:tempMine]; } however the mainViewController is already set to <fipsideViewControllerDelegate> What should I add to the header file and the implementation file to poll the location Manager for the users current latitude and longitude?

• force users to logout

- by lipkee85
Currently I have a client and admin webpage. There are multiple users who will login to the client page. While in admin page, when I restored the database inside the admin page, I need to logout all the users who are currently login to the client page. Any ideas how it should be done? My current language using is classic ASP. If it can be done in ASP.NET, its fine too. Thanks.

• JSONP parsing error from WCF

- by user1754730
Answered my own question I had a problem with a jquery (jsonp) call to a WCF service that was throwing a json parsing error. Using ASP.NET 4.0 on the WCF side and jquery 1.7 on the client side. Turned out there was an old set of script tags on the page using language = VBSCRIPT. The browser was interpreting the returned json packet of script as "VBscript" instead of javascript. I placed a set of empty javascript tags at the top of the page and the browser is now interpreting the json as the proper javascript function. Hope this helps someone else. Tom

• Determine phone number based on time zone?

- by Zachary Burt
I have a (potentially international) phone number. It may or may not have a country code prefix. Does anyone know of a database that will help me map phone number = time zone? I would even just like to map phone number = country, since I can probably create country = time zone by scraping existing data on the web. This is a more complicated problem than it looks; for example, how do I know if it's a US-based number -- e.g. is it a USA area code, or an international country calling code? Any language is fine; I can port it.

• UUIDs in CouchDB

- by PartlyCloudy
I am wondering about the format UUIDs are by default represented in CouchDB. While the RFC 4122 describes UUIDs like 550e8400-e29b-11d4-a716-446655440000, CouchDB uses continuously chars like 3069197232055d39bc5bc39348a36417. I've searched some time in both their wiki and their documentation what this actually is, however without any result. Do you know whether this is either a non RFC-conform format omitting all - or is this a completely different representation of the 128 bits. The background is that I'm using Java UUIDs which are formatted as noted in the RFC. I see the advantage that the CouchDB-style is probably more handy for building internal trees, but I want to be sure to use a consistent implementation.

• Queries with developing a Voice to Text Based Software

- by harigm
I am looking for any software which converts the voice to the text. I can get some software which can easily convert the english launguage voice to English text. But my intention is be it any language, whatever the system gets voice that should give the output in the text format in English. Is it possible to get this kind of software? If yes any open source available to help me to use this? If not, Is this feasible to develop this kind of software, Can any one guide how to and where to begin with? I am looking for windows based software

• Write the longest possible loop.

- by Abhay
Hello Group, Recently I was asked this question in a technical discussion. What is the longest possible loop that can be written in a programming language? This loop has to be as long as possible and yet not an infinite loop and should not end-up crashing the program (Recursion etc...) I honestly did not know how to attack this problem, so I asked him if is it practically possible. He said using some computer science concepts, you can arrive at a hypothetical number which may not be practical but nevertheless it will still not be infinite. Anyone here; knows how to analyse / attack this problem. P.S. Choosing some highest limit for a type that can store the highest numerical value is apparently not an answer. Thanks in advance,

• How to increment a value using a C-Preprocessor?

- by mystify
Example: I try to do this: static NSInteger stepNum = 1; #define METHODNAME(i) -(void)step##i #define STEP METHODNAME(stepNum++) @implementation Test STEP { // do stuff... [self nextFrame:@selector(step2) afterDelay:1]; } STEP { // do stuff... [self nextFrame:@selector(step3) afterDelay:1]; } STEP { // do stuff... [self nextFrame:@selector(step4) afterDelay:1]; } // ... When building, Xcode complains that it can't increment stepNum. This seems logical to me, because at this time the code is not "alive" and this pre-processing substitution stuff happens before actually compiling the source code. Is there another way I could have an variable be incremented on every usage of STEP macro, the easy way?

• What's the most effective path to top level development?

- by Glycerine
I got a questions asked from one of my delegates the other day, "how did you get to where you are in programming?" I'm now at a java application realm - and I'm just about OK at it. the path that brought me there: BASIC VB6 PHP javascript actionscript java/objective-C I still live in the web development but I now prefer java - I see this as a good flow but I was wondering how you guys got to where you are and the best path to take? Edit: reword I guess I've asked the question wrong - I was wondering how to progress to a top level application from starting off in development. Where good paradyms connect languages. I won't have considered C++ as my first language see.

• Program visible to Linux as normal directory

- by Xam
I'm trying to write program to work as programmable directory, in other words: User, or other systems open that directory and read/write files or dirs. I try to create program to cache most used files in memory (less I/O to HDD), but right now I don't know how to achive that. There are probably some docs about this but I can't find them. I know that there is FUSE, NFS and others, but reading their source is quite difficult. If any one has info about implementation in C lang I'll be very grateful. Sorry for my English..

• PHP getting a bunch of weird code لينك ال

- by Webby
Hello I'm getting a bunch of weird html output in users messages e.g. لينك ال عامل I assume their aribic characters decoded? How can I perhaps preg replace all these codes with something a little more useful? because search results are filled with pages and pages of this stuff Perhaps even display them as they're supposed to be? Any advice what to do with such strings and how to implement them appreciated.. Please keep in mind this stuff is mixed in been common language letters / numbers many thanks

• Information stored in a cookie file

- by jklmuk
Thanks for you help in advance. I am trying to figure out the structure of the cookie file, more specifically i want to be able to determine the expiry time. From the cookies i have created they all appear to be in a standard format. Name, Value, website, followed by 5 numbers and a star. See example below. name value www.website.co.uk/ 1536 3041141504 30135951 1632526096 30135949 * Obviously the expiry time is one of the numbers, the question is which one. From experiments I have determined that the first and fifth number don't seem to change. In a case where i generated three cookies at the same time with a 1000 second time difference i noticed that the fourth number appeared to increase by 2000 suggesting that this has a connection with the expiry time. Can anyone confirm if i am heading in the right direction? And does any one know how i convert this to a human time and date(preferably in php but any language would give me a starting point) thanks Jason

• How to dynamically load and switch the resource file in the web app (ASP.NET) without recompiling ?

- by Thomas Wanner
I would like to store the resource files (containing texts for labels etc.) for my web application in the database to be able to edit and create them dynamically later (probably in the UI). My idea was to store the whole resx file in an xml column and simply load it on demand - depending on the language and some other attributes of the current user when he is logging into the application or switching the context. The important thing is that the resources do not only depend on the culture info of the user but also on some context information that can be switched by user without logging off and on again (in our case called "group", not having anything to do with a group of users). Is it possible somehow to load the contents of the resources from an external source and simply switch them without web application being recompiled by the server ? I know that there are some interfaces on which I could hook up and implement a custom resources provider which reads from the database directly but if it could work somehow with the resx files it would probably make things a lot easier..

• How is this website fixing the encoding ??

- by Tal Galili
Hi all, I am trying to turn this text: ×וויר. העתיד של רשתות חברתיות והתקשורת ×©×œ× ×• Into this text: ?????. ????? ?? ????? ??????? ???????? ???? Somehow, this website: http://www.pixiesoft.com/flip/ Can do it, and I would like to know how I might be able to do it myself (with whatever programming language or software) Just saving the file as UTF8 won't do it. My motivation for this question is that I have a friend's exported XML file with the garbled text which I want to turn into corrected Hebrew text file. The XML export was originally garbled by MySQL import and exports, but I don't have the information needed to fix it or traceback the problem. Thanks.

• Does string inherits from Object in Javascript?

- by Morgan Cheng
Is Object the base class of all objects in Javascript, just like other language such as Java & C#? I tried below code in Firefox with Firebug installed. var t = new Object(); var s1 = new String('str'); var s2 = 'str'; console.log(typeof t); console.log(typeof s1); console.log(typeof s2); The console output is object object string So, s1 and s2 are of diffeent type?

• Java Or C++ Or What???

- by Kronass
Hi, My friends and I are starting a new project and we are shifting from windows to linux (for some reasons) and all of us are .Net background. for the new platform I decided to go with Java since many parts are similar with .Net but my friend is insisting on C++ saying it is much faster very mature and working with it will not effect on the productivity and development speed. The project that we will work on it will have threading, extensive string and datetime manipulation, some socket programing and of-course work with RDBMS (MySql Or Postgre not decided yet). I have some fears with java since oracle acquired sun and these people will do anything to make money out of it. some have advised in python and ruby and I like python but don't know should I make it the default language in this project. the project is not web application and we will make services and executables. what do you think, if you have other opinion you very welcome. Hint: Mono is not an option

• Remove specified text from beginning of lines only if present (C#)

- by Zach
I have a textbox in which the user can edit text, in a scripting language. I've figured out how to let the user comment out lines in one click, but can't seem to figure out how to uncomment properly. For example, if the box has: Normal Text is here More normal text -- Commented text -- More commented text Normal Text again --Commented Text Again So, when the user selects any amount of text and decides to uncomment, the "--" is removed from the beginning of the lines that have it. The lines without the "--" should be unaffected. In short, I want an uncomment function that performs similar to the one in Visual Studio. Is there any way to accomplish this? Thanks

• How to Print the contents of a textbox in C++/CLI?

- by Smoka
I'm still learning C++ coding. I'm having troubles getting say ResultsBox-Text to printer successfully. What is the proper way to print in C++/CLI? I think im missing something simple. Ive tried multiple different routes/syntax's that ive read online/ in books. All of which got me to a dead end. Please even a rundown on the method of printing in any C based language might point me the right way. Thank you.

• Operations inside Rails I18n locales' strings

- by Cristobal Viedma
Hi, I am trying to put operations inside the locales to adapt to different languages. For example, in English a billion is 1,000,000,000, however in Spanish a billion is 1,000,000,000,000 so I would like to be able to have the following: en: billion: "You have %{money} billions" es: billion: "Tienes %{money/1000.0} billones" In order to be able to write: I18n.t :billion, :money => whatever And be right for whatever language. However, it seems that I cannot put operations inside the locales' strings. Any hint on how should I be doing this? Maybe my approach is just wrong "philosophically" talking? Thanks all!

• Restructured Text - adding title attributes to links

- by Ant
Hi all, I am trying to use a jquery lightbox implementation on my website that is generated from Restructured Text. The lightbox takes the title of the link around the images as the caption of the image in the lightbox display. However, I can't seem to find a way in Restructured Text of providing a title attribute on a link - does anyone know of a way of doing so. My Images are defined like so: .. image:: image001.thumb.jpg :alt: Some alt text here :target: image001.jpg So I can add an alt attribute, but not a title. A possible alternative may be to use a target as the reference like so: .. image:: image001.thumb.jpg :alt: Some alt text here :target: image1_ .. _image1: image001.jpg In this latter case, I am not sure how to add attributes to the link defined at the bottom (if it is possible at all)

• Return from parent sub in Perl

- by JS Bangs
I want to write a subroutine which causes the caller to return under certain conditions. This is meant to be used as a shortcut for validating input to a function. What I have so far is: sub needs($$) { my ($condition, $message) = @_; if (not $condition) { print "$message
"; # would like to return from the *parent* here } return $condition; } sub run_find { my $arg = shift @_; needs $arg, "arg required" or return; needs exists $lang{$arg}, "No such language: $arg" or return; # etc. } The advantage of returning from the caller in needs would then be to avoid having to write the repetitive or return inside run_find and similar functions.

• Given a short (2-week) sprint, is it ever acceptable to forgo TDD to "get things done"?

- by Ben Aston
Given a short sprint, is it ever acceptable to forgo TDD to "get things done" within the sprint. For example a given piece of work might need say 1/3 of the sprint to design the object model around an existing implementation. Under this scenario you might well end up with implemented code, say half way through the sprint, without any tests (implementing unit tests during this "design" stage would add significant effort and the tests would likely be thrown away a few times until the final "design" is settled upon). You might then spend a day or two in the second week adding in unit / integration tests after the fact. Is this acceptable?

• How to implement low pass filter using java

- by chai
Hello Everyone, I am trying to implement a low pass filter in Java. My requirement is very simple,I have to eliminate signals beyond a particular frequency (Single dimension). Looks like Butterworth filter would suit my need. Now the important thing is that CPU time should be as low as possible. There would be close to a million sample the filter would have to process and our users don't like waiting too long. Are there any readymade implementation of Butterworth filters which has optimal algorithms for filtering. Regards, Chaitannya

• How to yield a single element from for loop in scala?

- by Julio Faerman
Much like this question: Functional code for looping with early exit Say the code is def findFirst[T](objects: List[T]):T = { for (obj <- objects) { if (expensiveFunc(obj) != null) return /*???*/ Some(obj) } None } How to yield a single element from a for loop like this in scala? I do not want to use find, as proposed in the original question, i am curious about if and how it could be implemented using the for loop. * UPDATE * First, thanks for all the comments, but i guess i was not clear in the question. I am shooting for something like this: val seven = for { x <- 1 to 10 if x == 7 } return x And that does not compile. The two errors are: - return outside method definition - method main has return statement; needs result type I know find() would be better in this case, i am just learning and exploring the language. And in a more complex case with several iterators, i think finding with for can actually be usefull. Thanks commenters, i'll start a bounty to make up for the bad posing of the question :)

• Alternatives to C++ Reference/Pointer Syntax

- by Jon Purdy
What languages other than C and C++ have explicit reference and pointer type qualifiers? People seem to be easily confused by the right-to-left reading order of types, where char*& is "a reference to a pointer to a character", or a "character-pointer reference"; do any languages with explicit references make use of a left-to-right reading order, such as &*char/ref ptr char? I'm working on a little language project, and legibility is one of my key concerns. It seems to me that this is one of those questions to which it's easy for a person but hard for a search engine to provide an answer. Thanks in advance!
