  • Setting Corner Radius on UIImageView not working

    - by MarkPowell
I'm at a bit of a loss. I've used the layer property of UIView to round the corners of multiple elements in my app. However, this one UIImageView is simply not complying. Not sure what I am missing. The UIImageView (called previewImage) is contained in a Table View Cell. I've tried setting the cornerRadius property multiple location (in the cell itself and in the controller that creates the cell) to no avail. static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"MyTableViewCell"; MyTableViewCell *cell = (MyTableViewCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *topLevelObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:CellIdentifier owner:self options:nil]; cell = [topLevelObjects objectAtIndex:0]; cell.previewImage.layer.cornerRadius = 20; //Made it 20 to make sure it's obvious. } Is there something about the way cells are loaded that I'm missing?

  • Saving data in custom class via AppDelegate

    - by redspike
I can't seem to save data to a custom instance object in my AppDelegate. My custom class is very simple and is as follows: Person.h ... @interface Person : NSObject { int _age; } - (void) setAge: (int) age; - (int) age; @end Person.m #import "Person.h" @implementation Person - (void) setAge:(int) age { _age = age; } - (int) age { return _age; } @end I then create an instance of Person in the AppDelegate class: AppDelegate.h @class Person; @interface AccuTaxAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { ... Person *person; } ... @property (nonatomic, retain) Person *person; @end AppDelegate.m ... #import "Person.h" @implementation AccuTaxAppDelegate ... @synthesize person; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { // Save data if appropriate } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Memory management - (void)dealloc { [navigationController release]; [window release]; [person release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Finally, in my ViewController code I grab a handle on AppDelegate and then grab the person instance, but when I try to save the age it doesn't seem to work: MyViewController ... - (void)textFieldDidEndEditing:(UITextField *)textField { NSString *textAge = [textField text]; int age = [textAge intValue]; NSLog(@"Age from text field::%i", age); AppDelegate *appDelegate = (AppDelegate *)[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate; Person *myPerson = (Person *)[appDelegate person]; NSLog(@"Age before setting: %i", [myPerson age]); [myPerson setAge:age]; NSLog(@"Age after setting: %i", [myPerson age]); [textAge release]; } ... The output of the above NSLogs are: [Session started at 2010-05-04 18:29:22 +0100.] 2010-05-04 18:29:28.260 AccuTax[16235:207] Age in text field:25 2010-05-04 18:29:28.262 AccuTax[16235:207] Age before setting: 0 2010-05-04 18:29:28.263 AccuTax[16235:207] Age after setting: 0 Any ideas why 'age' isn't being stored? I'm relatively new to Obj-C so please forgive me if I'm missing something very simple!

  • SQLITE Blob OR file system for images

    - by saint cyr
Hello, I am building an application based on a single table with a column with text. Occassionally, an adjacent column will have an image. Is it better to store this image as a BLOB in SQLITE or should I store them on the file system and reference them from my programs. Thanks!

  • Navigation Within TabController

    - by David.Chu.ca
I am trying to use UITabController as may controller in my main window and add navigation controllers to some tab bar items. For example, the first tab has a navigation controller with table view: ![alt text][1] The SettingsViewController is associated with its own NIB file, where a table view is defined. Within that xib file, I have a table view and set it to the outlet of SettingsViewController class property myTableView. The problem is that in the main xib file, for the SettingsViewController navigation, there is one outlet myTableView. I am not sure if I have to set this to somewhere? The exception I get is "[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] loaded the "SettingsViewController" nib but the view outlet was not set." [1]:

  • Who to access a UIButton using tag and button change image?

    - by ste
    I need to change the images on a matrix of UIButtons, and the only thing I know of to address the buttons, is the tag. But I can not find a way to actually us this identifier. The buttons are created programmatically during viewDidLoad. Here is the code for creating the buttons: #define N_ROWS 4 #define N_COLS 3 int N_IMG = 0; for (int a = 0; a < N_COLS; a++) { for (int j = 0; j < N_ROWS; j++) { UIButton *aButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; aButton.frame = CGRectMake(a * 65.0 + 25, j * 65.0 + 15, 10.0, 10.0); aButton.tag = j + a * N_ROWS + 1; [aButton setBackgroundColor:[UIColor redColor]]; N_IMG = N_IMG++; [self.view addSubview:aButton]; number_sorted = 1; } } Here is the code for setting the image: - (IBAction)set_image:(id)sender { #define N_ROWS 4 #define N_COLS 3 int N_IMG = 0; for (int a = 0; a < N_COLS; a++) { for (int j = 0; j < N_ROWS; j++) { uibutton aButton.tag == (j + a * N_ROWS + 1) setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:[puzzles objectAtIndex:N_IMG]] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; N_IMG = N_IMG++; } } } This is the code where the truble starts: uibutton aButton.tag == (j + a * N_ROWS + 1) Who can I set this up to work?

  • Events do not propagate from a child element?

    - by Legend
I was playing around with the Swipe jQuery plugin on my iPod Touch and Android devices. The following works: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/jquery/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/plugins/jquery.swipe.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('body').swipe({ swipeLeft: function() { $('#container1').append("Swiped Left!"); }, swipeRight: function() { $('#container2').append("Swiped Right!");} }); }); </script> <style type="text/javascript"> body {width: 300px; height: 300px; background: #000;} </style> </head> <body> <div id="container1"> This is container one </div> <div id="container2"> This is container two </div> </body> </html> But if I have something like this: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/jquery/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/plugins/jquery.swipe.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('#wrapper').swipe({ swipeLeft: function() { $('#container1').append("Swiped Left!"); }, swipeRight: function() { $('#container2').append("Swiped Right!");} }); }); </script> <style type="text/javascript"> body {width: 300px; height: 300px; background: #000;} </style> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="container1"> This is container one </div> <div id="container2"> This is container two </div> </div> </body> </html> Notice the "wrapper" div around the containers. Now, when I swipe on the div element, I was expecting it to actually trigger the event. This works in iPod touch as expected but does not work on my Android device unless I randomly start swiping everywhere until I happen to swipe on that small wrapper div element itself. I am not sure how to explain this but hink of it as sending events to the wrapper div itself. Both use the WebKit engine. Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong?

  • Effect of 'myObj = [[[[MyClass alloc] init] autorelease] retain];'?

    - by filipe
I've just downloaded the Facebook iOS SDK and I noticed that in the sample code that comes with the SDK whenever it creates an instance of the Facebook class it does it like this: _facebook = [[[[Facebook alloc] init] autorelease] retain]; where _facebook is a member variable of the calling object (i.e. not a local variable). Can anyone explain exactly what's the point of autoreleasing and then retaining it?

  • Detect when a UITableView is being reordered

    - by Mike Weller
I have a UITableView backed by an NSFetchedResultsController which may trigger updates at any time. If the user is currently reordering rows, applying these updates will cause an exception because the table view has temporarily taken over and you get an error like Invalid update: invalid number of rows in section [...] How can I detect when the user has started moving a cell so I can delay updates caused by the fetched results controller? There don't seem to be any table view delegate methods to detect this. This delegate method: - (NSIndexPath *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView targetIndexPathForMoveFromRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)sourceIndexPath toProposedIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)proposedDestinationIndexPath { Doesn't get called when the user initially detaches the first cell, only when they actually move it somewhere else.

  • Calculate the contentsize of scrollview

    - by neha
Hi all, I'm having a scrollview as the detailedview of tableview cell. There are multiple views on the detailedview like labels, buttons etc. which I'm creating through interface builder. What I'm creating through interface builder is static. I'm putting everything on a view of height 480. A label on my detailedview is having dynamic text which can extend to any length. The problem is that I need to set the scrollview's content size for which I need its height. How shall I set scrollview's height provided the content is dynamic?

  • How do I query/filter a to-many relationship in Core Data

    - by Kris Bixler
I have Customer, Event and Address objects in my data model. Both Customer and Address have a one-to-many relationship to Event. I can get the distinct list of addresses for a customer's events for by doing this: NSSet *addressSet = [customer valueForKeyPath:@"events.address"]; For the part of the UI I'm working on now, I need to display the address from the most recent event prior to now that has an address. I'm starting to go down the path of creating a NSFetchRequest, setting it's entity, sort descriptors, predicate and then looping through the results, but it seems like a lot of code. Am I missing some obvious way of filtering/sorting on the "events" relationship of the Customer object or is creating the NSFetchRequest the best solution?

  • How to stop the horizontal scrolling programmatically ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I have a UITextView *textView in cocos2d's CCLayer. The text is scrolling in both the horizontal and vertical directions. But, I need it to scroll and bounce only in vertically. How to stop the horizontal scrolling programmatically ? UITextView *textView = [[UITextView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(100,200, windowSize.height/2,windowSize.width/2)]; textView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; textView.text = @"I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy"; [textView setEditable:NO]; textView.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:24.0f]; CGPoint location = CGPointMake(200, 160); textView.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = NO; //textView.bounces = NO; //textView.alwaysBounceVertical = YES; textView.center = location; textView.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(CC_DEGREES_TO_RADIANS( 90.0f )); What should I do stop scrolling horizontally ? Thank You.

  • Passing Data thru NSTimer UserInfo

    - by zorro2b
    I a trying to pass data thru userInfo for an NSTimer call. What is the best way to do this? I am trying to use an NSDictionary, this is simple enough when I have objective c objects, but what about other data? I want to do something like this, which doesn't work as is: - (void) play:(SystemSoundID)sound target:(id)target callbackSelector:(SEL)selector { NSLog(@"pause ipod"); [iPodController pause]; theSound = sound; NSMutableDictionary *cb = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [cb setObject:(id)&sound forKey:@"sound"]; [cb setObject:target forKey:@"target"]; [cb setObject:(id)&selector forKey:@"selector"]; [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0 target:self selector: @selector(notifyPause1:) userInfo:(id)cb repeats:NO]; }

  • How to define colors in XCodes' Interface Builder?

    - by favo
Hi, I would like to copy colors between elements in the interface builder or define them using RGB values. I.e. copy the background color of a button to another button without duplicating the button. Or: Enter an exact RGB code using the interface builder. Currently I can do this only programmatically but the interface builder is meant to design the GUI, so there must be such possibilities. Thank you all in advance for your answers.

  • GameKit Bluetooth Transfer Problem

    - by David Schiefer
Hi, I am trying to send a file via Bluetooth using the GameKit framework. The problem I am having though is that I can only send one NSData object at a time, but I need to save it on the other end. this obviously isn't possible without knowing the filename, but i don't know how to transmit that. I've tried to convert it to a string NSData*data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:urlAddress]; but i can only send one NSData object, not two. Has anyone come across this problem yet?

  • How to programatically set cell.textLabel.text from a different view?

    - by Andy
I've got a view controller, call it VC1, that's a table view. When I tap a cell in the table view, I am presented with a new view controller, call it VC2, which is a short list of choices. After making a choice, I want to dismiss VC2 and set the cell.textLabel.text property of the VC1 cell I originally tapped to the value I selected in VC2. Conceptually speaking, what is the proper way to do this? I've tried a handful of different approaches, but all of them seem wonky at best, and only one of them actually worked - although it was the most cumbersome of all, passing references to both view controllers and table view cells and all kinds of things. It just feels like I'm making a mountain out of what is probably a mole hill. This is such a common paradigm that I find it hard to believe there's not a simple method for doing it. Thanks in advance for any input you can offer.

  • How do I add NSDecimalNumbers?

    - by Terry B
OK this may be the dumb question of the day, but supposing I have a class with : NSDecimalNumber *numOne = [NSDecimalNumber numberWithFloat:1.0]; NSDecimalNumber *numTwo = [NSDecimalNumber numberWithFloat:2.0]; NSDecimalNumber *numThree = [NSDecimalNumber numberWithFloat:3.0]; Why can't I have a function that adds those numbers: - (NSDecimalNumber *)addThem { return (self.numOne + self.numTwo + self.numThree); } I apologize in advance for being an idiot, and thanks!
