  • Conditional ESC, ideas?

    - by Tony
I often need to enter insert mode just to make changes on a specific line, and would like know if there is a way to enter insert mode in a way that when I am done editing on that line, hitting [Return] gets me back to normal mode. I am aware of the 'r' command for replacing a single character, I guess what I want is something like that but for a line.

  • Dynamically Forming a JSON object traversion without using eval.

    - by Matt Willhite
Given I have the following: (which is dynamically generated and varies in length) associations = ["employer", "address"]; Trying to traverse the JSON object, and wanting to form something like the following: data.employer.address or data[associations[0]][association[1]] Without doing this: eval("data."+associations.join('.')); Finally, I may be shunned for saying this, but is it okay to use eval in an instance like this? Just retrieving data.

  • What should be the ideal number of parallel java threads for copying a large set of files from a qua

    - by ukgenie
What should be the ideal number of parallel java threads for copying a large set of files from a quad core linux box to an external shared folder? I can see that with a single thread it is taking a hell lot of time to move the files one by one. Multiple threads is improving the copy performance, but I don't know what should be the exact number of threads. I am using Java executor service to create the thread pool.

  • Inline comments for bash?

    - by Lajos Nagy
I'd like to be able to comment out a single flag in a one-line command. Bash only seems to have `from # till end-of-line' comments. I'm looking at tricks like: ls -l $([ ] && -F is turned off) -a /etc It's ugly, but better than nothing. Anybody has any better suggestions?

  • How To Automatically Script SQL Server: 'Generate Scripts' for SQL Database

    - by skimania
I want to run scheduled nightly exports of my database code into my SVN source. It's easy to schedule automated check-in's into svn from a folder, but scheduling the export from SQL in SQL Management Studio is Right click target database, choose Tasks Generate Scripts. Follow the wizard and presto you've got scripts in a folder. Is it possible to extract a single script that the wizard generates, and stuff that into a stored proc which I can run nightly? Ideas?

  • Eclipse CDT Settings

    - by kon
Hey Guy, I'm trying to compile one single cpp file with Eclipse CDT and MinGW. On command line, c++ Test.cpp does the job. If I try to compile the file with Eclipse, I get errors telling me that I don't have included string.h in my lib files. How do I setup Eclipse just to perform "g++ Test.cpp" without considering my lib files as independent files? Thanks for helping :) Kon

  • How to add objects to association in OnPreInsert, OnPreUpdate

    - by Dmitriy Nagirnyak
Hi, I have an event listener (for Audit Logs) which needs to append audit log entries to the association of the object: public Company : IAuditable { // Other stuff removed for bravety IAuditLog IAuditable.CreateEntry() { var entry = new CompanyAudit(); this.auditLogs.Add(entry); return entry; } public virtual IEnumerable<CompanyAudit> AuditLogs { get { return this.auditLogs } } } The AuditLogs collection is mapped with cascading: public class CompanyMap : ClassMap<Company> { public CompanyMap() { // Id and others removed fro bravety HasMany(x => x.AuditLogs).AsSet() .LazyLoad() .Access.ReadOnlyPropertyThroughCamelCaseField() .Cascade.All(); } } And the listener just asks the auditable object to create log entries so it can update them: internal class AuditEventListener : IPreInsertEventListener, IPreUpdateEventListener { public bool OnPreUpdate(PreUpdateEvent ev) { var audit = ev.Entity as IAuditable; if (audit == null) return false; Log(audit); return false; } public bool OnPreInsert(PreInsertEvent ev) { var audit = ev.Entity as IAuditable; if (audit == null) return false; Log(audit); return false; } private static void LogProperty(IAuditable auditable) { var entry = auditable.CreateAuditEntry(); entry.CreatedAt = DateTime. Now; entry.Who = GetCurrentUser(); // Might potentially execute a query. // Also other information is set for entry here } } The problem with it though is that it throws TransientObjectException when commiting the transaction: NHibernate.TransientObjectException : object references an unsaved transient instance - save the transient instance before flushing. Type: PropConnect.Model.UserAuditLog, Entity: PropConnect.Model.UserAuditLog at NHibernate.Engine.ForeignKeys.GetEntityIdentifierIfNotUnsaved(String entityName, Object entity, ISessionImplementor session) at NHibernate.Type.EntityType.GetIdentifier(Object value, ISessionImplementor session) at NHibernate.Type.ManyToOneType.NullSafeSet(IDbCommand st, Object value, Int32 index, Boolean[] settable, ISessionImplementor session) at NHibernate.Persister.Collection.AbstractCollectionPersister.WriteElement(IDbCommand st, Object elt, Int32 i, ISessionImplementor session) at NHibernate.Persister.Collection.AbstractCollectionPersister.PerformInsert(Object ownerId, IPersistentCollection collection, IExpectation expectation, Object entry, Int32 index, Boolean useBatch, Boolean callable, ISessionImplementor session) at NHibernate.Persister.Collection.AbstractCollectionPersister.Recreate(IPersistentCollection collection, Object id, ISessionImplementor session) at NHibernate.Action.CollectionRecreateAction.Execute() at NHibernate.Engine.ActionQueue.Execute(IExecutable executable) at NHibernate.Engine.ActionQueue.ExecuteActions(IList list) at NHibernate.Engine.ActionQueue.ExecuteActions() at NHibernate.Event.Default.AbstractFlushingEventListener.PerformExecutions(IEventSource session) at NHibernate.Event.Default.DefaultFlushEventListener.OnFlush(FlushEvent event) at NHibernate.Impl.SessionImpl.Flush() at NHibernate.Transaction.AdoTransaction.Commit() As the cascading is set to All I expected NH to handle this. I also tried to modify the collection using state but pretty much the same happens. So the question is what is the last chance to modify object's associations before it gets saved? Thanks, Dmitriy.

  • What operation type invoked a trigger in SQL Server 2008?

    - by Neil Moss
I'm contemplating a single SQL trigger to handle INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE operations as part of an auditing process. Is there any statement, function or @@ variable I can interrogate to find out which operation type launched the trigger? I've seen the following pattern: declare @type char(1) if exists (select * from inserted) if exists (select * from deleted) select @Type = 'U' else select @Type = 'I' else select @Type = 'D' but is there anything else a little more direct or explicit? Thanks, Neil.

  • How to copy matplotlib figure?

    - by Alex
I have FigureCanvasWxAgg instance with a figure displayed on a frame. If user clicks on the canvas another frame with a new FigureCanvasWxAgg containing the same figure will be shown. By now closing the new frame can result in destroying the C++ part of the figure so that it won't be available for the first frame. How can I save the figure? Python deepcopy from copy module does't work in this case. Thanks in advance.

  • what is the difference between declarative and imperative programming

    - by Brad
I have been searching the web looking for a definition for declarative and imperative programming that would shed some light for me. However the language used at some of the resources that I have found is daunting - for instance at wikipedia. Does any one have a real world example that they could show me that might bring some perspective to this subject...perhaps in c# thanks

  • Unit testing Jade

    - by Strawberry
Hi, What techniques and design strategies have people used to aid in unit testing Jade applications? In particular, how do people typically go about testing Behaviours - which are tightly coupled to the Agent instance and the Jade environment? I'm aware of the JadeMX project, but this appears to be geared more towards system testing - in particular the message exchange between collaborating agents. Thanks.

  • Wired component null in seam EntityHome action

    - by rangalo
I have a custom EntityHome class. I wire the dependent entity in the wire method, but when I call the action (persist) the wired component is always null. What could be the reason, similar code generated by seam gen is apparently working. Here is the entity class. I have overrden persist method to log the value of the wired element. @Name("roundHome") @Scope(ScopeType.CONVERSATION) public class RoundHome extends EntityHome<Round>{ @In(required = false) private Golfer currentGolfer; @In(create = true) private TeeSetHome teeSetHome; @Override public String persist() { logger.info("Persist called"); if (null != getInstance().getTeeSet() ) { logger.info("teeSet not null in persist"); } else { logger.info("teeSet null in persist"); // wire(); } String retVal = super.persist(); //To change body of overridden methods use File | Settings | File Templates. return retVal; } @Logger private Log logger; public void wire() { logger.info("wire called"); TeeSet teeSet = teeSetHome.getDefinedInstance(); if (null != teeSet) { getInstance().setTeeSet(teeSet); logger.info("Successfully wired the teeSet instance with color: " + teeSet.getColor()); } } public boolean isWired() { logger.info("is wired called"); if(null == getInstance().getTeeSet()) { logger.info("wired teeSet instance is null, the button will be disabled !"); return false; } else { logger.info("wired teeSet instance is NOT null, the button will be enabled !"); logger.info("teeSet color: "+getInstance().getTeeSet().getColor()); return true; } } @RequestParameter public void setRoundId(Long id) { super.setId(id); } @Override protected Round createInstance() { Round round = super.createInstance(); round.setGolfer(currentGolfer); round.setDate(new java.sql.Date(System.currentTimeMillis())); return round; } } Here the xhtml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE composition PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <ui:composition xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:s="http://jboss.com/products/seam/taglib" xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:a="http://richfaces.org/a4j" xmlns:rich="http://richfaces.org/rich" template="layout/template.xhtml"> <ui:define name="body"> <h:form id="roundform"> <rich:panel> <f:facet name="header>"> #{roundHome.managed ? I've set up my app exactly in line with the Railscasts Time Zone Episode 1 but when I run <%= f.time_zone_select :time_zone, ActiveSupport::TimeZone.us_zones %> I get this error NoMethodError in Users#new Showing app/views/users/new.html.erb where line #27 raised: You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.<= With line 27 being the aforementioned line. I am really stuck on this...

  • What is holding up HD video conferencing on the web?

    - by Tristan
What exactly is holding up real-time HD video conferencing on the web? Live, low-latency, video has lots of great applications beyond video chat: for instance, virtual desktops / vnc, remote control of applications, and server-side visualization. So what exactly are the technical barriers that remain? Existing video and remote desktop applications show latency problems are overrated for many applications. Bandwidth for many users now can easily stream 720p and even 1080p. Top-end video conferencing demos already do 1080p

  • Erlang-style light-weight processes in .NET

    - by alexey
Is there any way to implement Erlang-style light-weight processes in .NET? I found some projects that implement Erlang messaging model (actors model). For example, Axum. But I found nothing about light-weight processes implementation. I mean multiple processes that run in a context of a single OS-thread or OS-process.

  • Force CloudFront distribution/file update

    - by Martin
I'm using Amazon's CloudFront to serve static files of my web apps. Is there no way to tell a cloudfront distribution that it needs to refresh it's file or point out a single file that should be refreshed? Amazon recommend that you version your files like logo_1.gif, logo_2.gif and so on as a workaround for this problem but that seems like a pretty stupid solution. Is there absolutely no other way?
