  • How can I replace this semaphore with a monitor?

    - by Kurru
    Hi In previous question of mine, someone had meantioned that using Semaphores were expensive in C# compared to using a monitor. So I ask this, how can I replace the semaphore in this code with a monitor? I need function1 to return its value after function2 (in a separate thread) has been completed. I had replaced the Semaphore.WaitOne with a Monitor.Wait and the Semaphore.Release with a Monitor.PulseAll but the PulseAll was being triggered before the Wait causing the program to hang. Any idea how to avoid that race condition? Semaphore semaphore = new Semaphore(0,1); byte b; public byte Function1() { // new thread starting in Function2; semaphore.WaitOne(); return b; } public void Function2() { // do some thing b = 0; semaphore.Release(); }

  • oracle's pro*C compiler and gnu C (__builtin_va_list, __attribute__, etc)

    - by Charles Ma
    I'm compiling a database library with pro*C which converts the .ppc library file to a .c file that gcc can use. However, I'm getting a lot of errors in pro*C like the following PCC-S-02201, Encountered the symbol "__ attribute__ " when expecting one of the following ... , Encountered the symbol "__builtin_va_list" when expecting one of the following The missing symbols are from a chain of standard includes like stdio.h and stdlib.h. How do I get around this issue? The library I'm compiling came from an old solaris system that we're now upgrading (to a new solaris 10 system) and the header files don't seem to use these symbols. e.g. the newer .h files has typedef __builtin_va_list va_list while the old .h files has typedef void* va_list There are a lot of things like this so I'm reluctant to go and fix all of them manually with a typedef

  • How to unit test a Spring MVC controller using @PathVariable?

    - by Martiner
    I have a simple annotated controller similar to this one: @Controller public class MyController { @RequestMapping("/{id}.html") public String doSomething(@PathVariable String id, Model model) { // do something return "view"; } } and I want to test it with an unit test like this: public class MyControllerTest { @Test public void test() { MockHttpServletRequest request = new MockHttpServletRequest(); request.setRequestURI("/test.html"); new AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter() .handle(request, new MockHttpServletResponse(), new MyController()); // assert something } } The problem is that AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter.handler() method throws an exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Could not find @PathVariable [id] in @RequestMapping at org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.annotation.AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter$ServletHandlerMethodInvoker.resolvePathVariable(AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter.java:642) at org.springframework.web.bind.annotation.support.HandlerMethodInvoker.resolvePathVariable(HandlerMethodInvoker.java:514) at org.springframework.web.bind.annotation.support.HandlerMethodInvoker.resolveHandlerArguments(HandlerMethodInvoker.java:262) at org.springframework.web.bind.annotation.support.HandlerMethodInvoker.invokeHandlerMethod(HandlerMethodInvoker.java:146)

  • How do I change the frame position for a custom MKAnnotationView?

    - by andrei
    I am trying to make a custom annotation view by subclassing MKAnnotationView and overriding the drawRect method. I want the view to be drawn offset from the annotation's position, somewhat like MKPinAnnotationView does it, so that the point of the pin is at the specified coordinates, rather than the middle of the pin. So I set the frame position and size as shown below. However, it doesn't look like I can affect the position of the frame at all, only the size. The image ends up being drawn centered over the annotation position. Any tips on how to achieve what I want? MyAnnotationView.h: @interface MyAnnotationView : MKAnnotationView { } MyAnnotationView.m: - (id)initWithAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier { if (self = [super initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier]) { self.canShowCallout = YES; self.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; // Position the frame so that the bottom of it touches the annotation position self.frame = CGRectMake(0, -16, 32, 32); } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { [[UIImage imageNamed:@"blue-dot.png"] drawInRect:rect]; }

  • Problem updating BLOB with Hibernate?

    - by JohnSmith
    hi, i am having problem updating a blob with hibernate. (i am using Hiberante 3.3.1-GA) my model have these getters/setters for hibernate, i.e. internally i deal with byte[] so any getter/setter convert the byte[] to blog. I can create an initial object without problem, but if I try to change the content of the blob, the database column is not updated. I do not get any error message, everything looks fine, except that the database is not updated. /** do not use, for hibernate only */ public Blob getLogoBinaryBlob() { if(logoBinary == null){ return null; } return Hibernate.createBlob(logoBinary); } /** do not use, for hibernate only */ public void setLogoBinaryBlob(Blob logoBinaryBlob) { ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); try { logoBinary = toByteArrayImpl(logoBinaryBlob, baos); } catch (Exception e) { } } my hibernate mapping for the blob looks like <property name="logoBinaryBlob" column="LOGO_BINARY" type="blob" />

  • UIScrollView setZoomScale not working ?

    - by iFloh
    Hi, I am struggeling with my UIScrollview to get it to zoom-in the underlying UIImageView. In my view controller I set - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return myImageView; } In the viewDidLoad method I try to set the zoomScale to 2 as follows (note the UIImageView and Image is set in Interface Builder): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; myScrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(myImageView.frame.size.width, myImageView.frame.size.height); myScrollView.contentOffset = CGPointMake(941.0, 990.0); myScrollView.minimumZoomScale = 0.1; myScrollView.maximumZoomScale = 10.0; myScrollView.zoomScale = 0.7; myScrollView.clipsToBounds = YES; myScrollView.delegate = self; NSLog(@"zoomScale: %.1f, minZoolScale: %.3f", myScrollView.zoomScale, myScrollView.minimumZoomScale); } I tried a few variations of this, but the NSLog always shows a zoomScale of 1.0. Any ideas where I screw this one up?

  • How To Disable Inertia in ScatterView

    - by jack-amble
    Using ScatterView control shipped in Windows Touch WPF. I want to prevent inertia from happening on a scatterview item. But I still want to allow user to move, scale and rotate the item. So I try this... ScatterviewItem svi = new ScatterviewItem(); svi.ManipulationDelta += OnManipulationDelta; ... void OnManipulationDelta(object sender, ManipulationDeltaEventArgs args) { if (args.IsInertial) { args.Complete(); args.Handled = true; } } But the event is never firing. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another way to do this, or is preventing inertia simply not possible with scatterview?

  • C++ Why is the converter constructor implicitly called?

    - by ShaChris23
    Why is the Child class's converter constructor called in the code below? I mean, it automatically converts Base to Child via the Child converter constructor. The code below compiles, but shouldn't it not compile since I haven't provided bool Child::operator!=(Base const&)? class Base { }; class Child : public Base { public: Child() {} Child(Base const& base_) : Base(base_) { std::cout <<"should never called!"; } bool operator!=(Child const&) { return true; } }; void main() { Base base; Child child; if(child != base) std::cout << "not equal"; else std::cout << "equal"; }

  • C#: How to set AsyncWaitHandle in Compact Framework?

    - by Thorsten Dittmar
    Hi, I'm using a TcpClient in one of my Compact Framework 2.0 applications. I want to receive some information from a TCP server. As the Compact Framework does not support the timeout mechanisms of the "large" framework, I'm trying to implement my own timeout-thing. Basically, I want to do the following: IAsyncResult result = client.BeginRead(buffer, 0, size, ..., stream); if (!result.AsyncWaitHandle.WaitOne(5000, false)) // Handle timeout private void ReceiveFinished(IAsyncResult ar) { NetworkStream stream = (NetworkStream)ar.AsyncState; int numBytes = stream.EndRead(ar); // SIGNAL IASYNCRESULT.ASYNCWAITHANDLE HERE ... HOW?? } I'd like to call Set for the IAsyncResult.AsyncWaitHandle, but it doesn't have such a method and I don't know which implementation to cast it to. How do I set the wait handle? Or is it automatically set by calling EndRead? The documentation suggests that I'd have to call Set myself... Thanks for any help!

  • problem with my texture coordinates on a square.

    - by Evan Kimia
    Im very new to OpenGL ES, and have been doing a tutorial to build a square. The square is made, and now im trying to map a 256 by 256 image onto it. The problem is, im only seeing a very zoomed in portion of this bitmap; Im fairly certain my texture coords are whats wrong here. • Using the Ninject NLogModule Logger in global.asax

    - by Ciaran
    I'm using Ninject for DI in my asp.net application, so my Global class inherits from NinjectHttpApplication. In my CreateKernel(), I'm creating my custom modules and DI is working fine for me. However, I notice that there is a Logger property in the NinjectHttpApplication class, so I'm trying to use this in Application_Error whenever an exception is not caught. I think I'm creating the nlog module correctly for Ninject, but my logger is always null. Here's my CreateKernel: protected override Ninject.Core.IKernel CreateKernel() { IKernel kernel = new StandardKernel(new NLogModule(), new NinjectRepositoryModule()); return kernel; } But in the following method, Logger is always null. protected void Application_Error(object sender, EventArgs e) { Exception lastException = Server.GetLastError().GetBaseException(); Logger.Error(lastException, "An exception was caught in Global.asax"); } To clarify, Logger is a property on NinjectHttpApplication of type ILogger and has the [Inject] attribute Any idea how to inject correctly into Logger?

  • How to create a protocol at runtime in Objective-C?

    - by Jared P
    Hi, First of all, I want to be clear that I'm not talking about defining a protocol, and that I understand the concept of @protocol someprotocol - (void)method; @end I know that the Obj-C runtime allows creation of classes at RUNTIME, as well as its ivars and methods. Also available for creation are SEL-s. I think I'm just missing something, but does anyone know what function to call to create a protocol at runtime? The main reason for this is for conformsToProtocol: to work, so just adding the appropriate methods doesn't really cut it.

By my way of thinking NSKeyedUnarchiver returns an object it owns, I am then taking ownership via the @property, later I release reactorCore and all is good?

  • Anyone else unable to listen to uncaughtErrorEvent when loaded by another swf?

    When I try to access the uncaughtErrorEvents dispatcher when loaded directly, everything works well. But when I try the same code when loaded by another swf I get a reference error. protected function onAddedToStage(e:Event):void { trace("Flash version: " + Capabilities.version); try { loaderInfo.uncaughtErrorEvents.addEventListener("uncaughtError", onUncaughtError); trace("YAY!"); } catch (e:Error) { trace(e); } } Output when loaded directly (in browser): Flash version: MAC 10,1,53,64 YAY! Output when loaded by another "loader" SWF: Flash version: MAC 10,1,53,64 ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property uncaughtErrorEvents not found on flash.display.LoaderInfo and there is no default value. If others can replicate this I'd be appreciative. EDIT: Also have tried this with stage.loaderInfo, instead of just loaderInfo. Same issue...

  • Spring AOP: how to get the annotations of the adviced method

    - by hubertg
    I'd like to implement declarative security with Spring/AOP and annotations. As you see in the next code sample I have the Restricted Annotations with the paramter "allowedRoles" for defining who is allowed to execute an adviced method. @Restricted(allowedRoles="jira-administrators") public void setPassword(...) throws UserMgmtException { // set password code ... } Now, the problem is that in my Advice I have no access to the defined Annotations: public Object checkPermission(ProceedingJoinPoint pjp) throws Throwable { Signature signature = pjp.getSignature(); System.out.println("Allowed:" + rolesAllowedForJoinPoint(pjp)); ... } private Restricted rolesAllowedForJoinPoint(ProceedingJoinPoint thisJoinPoint) { MethodSignature methodSignature = (MethodSignature) thisJoinPoint.getSignature(); Method targetMethod = methodSignature.getMethod(); return targetMethod.getAnnotation(Restricted.class); } The method above always returns null (there are no annotations found at all). Is there a simple solution to this? I read something about using the AspectJ agent but I would prefer not to use this agent.

  • Unknown runtime error number: -2146827687

    - by Simone Vellei
    I have an error in my GXT code on Internet Explorer (both Development Mode and not) when i try to attach a label to a panel. The error is "Unknown runtime error number: -2146827687" but this error in a GWT module is throws always, in other gwt modules with a label attached to the panel the error there isn't. The layout of panel is a GridFormLayout developed by me. The error is thrown when the renderComponentInCell is called (the method is called on doLayout) and the component is not rendered (else condition). private void renderComponentInCell(Component component, Element cell) { if (component.isRendered()) { cell.appendChild(component.getElement()); } else { component.render(cell); } } What can I do?

  • How to add custom SOAP header in Spring WS using Axiom and XmlBeans

    - by java_pill
    I'm using Spring WS 1.5.8, XmlBeans for marshalling/unmarshalling and AxiomSoapMessageFactory. My app. needs a custom SOAP header. I've mentioned the code of my WebServiceMessageCallback that I'm using and executing this code results in "'Content is not allowed in prolog.' error. Thanks, public void doWithMessage(WebServiceMessage message) throws IOException, TransformerException { SoapMessage soapMessage = (SoapMessage) message; SoapHeader header = soapMessage.getSoapHeader(); StringSource headerSource = new StringSource(XmlBeanUtils.getValue(sessionContext) ); transform(headerSource, header.getResult()); }

  • PerformanceCounters on .NET 4.0 & Windows 7

    - by scott
    I have a program that works fine on VS2008 and Vista, but I'm trying it on Windows 7 and VS2010 / .NET Framework 4.0 and it's not working. Ultimately the problem is that System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories() (and other PerformanceCounterCategory methods) is not working. I'm getting a System.InvalidOperationException with the message "Cannot load Counter Name data because an invalid index '' was read from the registry." I can reproduce this with the very simple program shown below: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { foreach (var pc in System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories()) { Console.WriteLine(pc.CategoryName); } } } I did make sure I'm running the program as an admin. It doesn't matter if I run it with VS/Debugger attached or not. I don't have another machine with Windows 7 or VS2010 to test it on, so I'm not sure which is complicating things here (or both?). It is Windows 7 x64 and I've tried forcing the app to run in both x32 and x64 but get the same results.

  • NSMutableDictionary is being treated as an NSDictionary

    - by Marc Gelfo
    Hi, I have a simple class with an NSMutableDictionary member variable. However, when I call setObject:forKey I get an error ('mutating method sent to immutable object'). The source of the problem is obvious from the debugger -- my NSMutableDictionary is actually of type NSDictionary. I must be missing something incredibly simple but can't seem to fix it. Here is the relevant code: // Model.h @interface Model : NSObject { NSMutableDictionary *piers; } @property (nonatomic,retain) NSMutableDictionary *piers; @end // Model.m @implementation Model @synthesize piers; -(id) init { if (self = [super init]) { self.piers = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithCapacity:2]; [self createModel]; } return self; } -(void) createModel { [piers setObject:@"happy" forKey:@"foobar"]; } @end If I put a breakpoint anywhere in the code and investigate self.piers, it is of type NSDictionary. What am I missing so that it is treated as an NSMutableDictionary instead? Thanks!

  • Simple ASP.Net MVC 1.0 Validation

    - by Mike
    On the current project we are working on we haven't upgraded to MVC 2.0 yet so I'm working on implementing some simple validation with the tools available in 1.0. I'm looking for feedback on the way I'm doing this. I have a model that represents a user profile. Inside that model I have a method that will validate all the fields and such. What I want to do is pass a controller to the validation method so that the model can set the model validation property in the controller. The goal is to get the validation from the controller into the model. Here is a quick example public FooController : Controller { public ActionResult Edit(User user) { user.ValidateModel(this); if (ModelState.IsValid) ....... ....... } } And my model validation signature is like public void ValidateModel(Controller currentState) What issues can you see with this? Am I way out to lunch on how I want to do this?
