  • Create a CSR in C# using an explicit RSA key-pair

    - by rlandster
Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?

  • Difference Between Monitor & Lock?

    - by Goober
What's the difference between a monitor and a lock? If a lock is simply an implementation of mutual exclusion, then is a monitor simply a way of making use of the waiting time inbetween method executions? A good explanation would be really helpful thanks.... regards

  • liferay portal with asp.net

    - by harrisonmeister
Hi This is a java noob related question. Have been looking at Liferay portal technology, however I'm a dotnet (c# or vb) developer by day. Does anyone know if you can use the install of liferay to host dotnet code, not just by using the iFrame method of redirecting to a different site - that just sucks in my opinion Alternatively is the saner option to go down the port my skills back to java? Thanks Mark

  • Facebook Graph API With iPhone SDK

    - by Tom G
Hi, Has anyone been able to implement Facebooks Graph API in a native iPhone Application? The documentation is pretty sparse when it comes to iPhone integration, but the calls to get users information looks a lot more light weight than the previous method of using FBConnect. So i would like to use it. I have seen a few posts about but none explain you you would implement the login button as we did previously with FBConnect? If any one has achieved this or can offer me any pointers that would be brilliant Thanks Tom

  • Is it good practice to generally make heavyweight classes non-copyable?

    - by Emile Cormier
I have a Shape class containing potentially many vertices, and I was contemplating making copy-constructor/copy-assignment private to prevent accidental needless copying of my heavyweight class (for example, passing by value instead of by reference). To make a copy of Shape, one would have to deliberately call a "clone" or "duplicate" method. Is this good practice? I wonder why STL containers don't use this approach, as I rarely want to pass them by value.

  • Encoding arbitrary data into numbers?

    - by Pekka
Is there a common method to encode and decode arbitrary data so the encoded end result consists of numbers only - like base64_encode but without the letters? Fictitious example: $encoded = numbers_encode("Mary had a little lamb"); echo $encoded; // outputs e.g. 122384337422394237423 (fictitious result) $decoded = numbers_decode("122384337422394237423"); echo $decoded; // outputs "Mary had a little lamb"

  • Given an array of arrays, how can I strip out the substring "GB" from each value?

    - by stormist
Each item in my array is an array of about 5 values.. Some of them are numerical ending in "GB".. I need the same array but with "GB" stripped out so that just the number remains. So I need to iterate through my whole array, on each subarray take each value and strip the string "GB" from it and create a new array from the output. Can anyone recommend and efficient method of doing this?

  • Update a Themeroller-based theme

    - by justSteve
I have a jQueryUI theme built by Themeroller (1.7.2) that i'd like to tweak via Themeroller. I recall seeing there was a method to use an existing custom theme as a starting point for a new theme - essentially importing the old theme so additional tweaks could be executed. Can't see instructions on how to do that now. thx

  • Custom Tag implementation issue

    - by Appps
    I have a custom tag as follows. repeat and heading tag have doAfterBody method implemented. <csajsp:repeat reps="5"> <LI> <csajsp:heading bgColor="BLACK"> White on Black Heading </csajsp:heading> </LI> </csajsp:repeat> /* Repeat tag Class*/ public void setReps(String repeats) { System.out.println("TESTING"+repeats); //sets the reps variable. } public int doAfterBody() { System.out.println("Inside repeate tag"+reps); if (reps-- >= 1) { BodyContent body = getBodyContent(); try { JspWriter out = body.getEnclosingWriter(); System.out.println("BODY"+body.getString()); out.println(body.getString()); body.clearBody(); // Clear for next evaluation } catch(IOException ioe) { System.out.println("Error in RepeatTag: " + ioe); } return(EVAL_BODY_TAG); } else { return(SKIP_BODY); } } /* Class of Heading tag */ public int doAfterBody() { System.out.println("inside heading tag"); BodyContent body = getBodyContent(); System.out.println(body.getString()); try { JspWriter out = body.getEnclosingWriter(); out.print("NEW TEXT"); } catch(IOException ioe) { System.out.println("Error in FilterTag: " + ioe); } // SKIP_BODY means I'm done. If I wanted to evaluate // and handle the body again, I'd return EVAL_BODY_TAG. return(SKIP_BODY); } public int doEndTag() { try { JspWriter out = pageContext.getOut(); out.print("NEW TEXT 2"); } catch(IOException ioe) { System.out.println("Error in HeadingTag: " + ioe); } return(EVAL_PAGE); // Continue with rest of JSP page } The order in which SOP are printed is 1) Setter method of csajsp:repeat is called. 2) White on Black Heading is printed. ie doAfterBody of csajsp:heading tag is called. I don't know why it is not calling doAfterBody of csajsp:repeat tag. Please help me to understand this. Thanks in advance.

  • Need unicode characters in UITableView from SQLlite database

    - by Lee Armstrong
I have some NSString varibales that incude items like Ð and Õ and if I do cell.textLabel.text = person.name; and if it contains one of those characters the cell.textlabel is blank! I have discovered that if I use NSString *col1 = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; To pull my data back it pulls back null, however using the deprectared method NSString *col1 = [NSString stringWithCString:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; Shows the characters! Any ideas?

  • Reliable session faulting for unknown reason

    - by Scarfman007
I am trying to achieve the following - one client-side proxy instance (kept open) accessed by multiple threads using a reliable session. What I have managed so far is to have either A) a reliable session with a client-side proxy which is created and disposed per call or B) what I aim for, but without a reliable session. When I enable reliable sessions on my binding however, the following behaviour is exhibited: Client-side Upon application startup everything appears to work fine until roughly 18 messages in to the WCF session. I firstly get the proxy.InnerChannel.Faulted event raised, then an exception is caught at the point where I am calling the method on the proxy. The exception is a System.TimeoutException, with message: "The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:00:59.9062512. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout." The inner exception has a similar message: "The request operation did not complete within the allotted timeout of 00:01:00. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout." With the method at the top of the inner stack trace being: System.ServiceModel.Channels.ReliableRequestSessionChannel.SyncRequest.WaitForReply(TimeSpan timeout) I then call proxy.Close followed by proxy.Abort (catching and ignoring exceptions). If I utilize the default settings (i.e. have simply <reliableSession/>), then calling proxy. Close results in another System.Timeout exception (although this time the allotted timeout is 00:00:00), however if I override the defaults as specified above no exception is thrown. Service-side Utilizing WCF tracing I get a System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException, with message: "The sequence has been terminated by the remote endpoint. The session has stopped waiting for a particular reply. Because of this the reliable session cannot continue. The reliable session was faulted." And a stack trace ending at: System.ServiceModel.AsyncResult.End[TAsyncResult](IAsyncResult result) When remotely attaching to the server I get the same message, which occurs when code execution steps over the return statement of my service in the service call which causes the error. The puzzling thing to me is that the service is stable and runs with options A) or B) as decribed at the beginning of my post, and occurs after a varying number of messages (around 18). The former fact points to there being nothing wrong with the code (indeed I have checked that no exceptions are thrown), and the latter just serves to confuse me and is why I modified the settings on the reliable session binding. I am quite stuck on this. Can anyone suggest why the reliable session would fault in such a way?

  • Should interfaces define properties?

    - by Otávio Décio
Interfaces, as defined by MSDN "contain only the signatures of methods, delegates or events." However, since properties are no more than syntactic sugar for a get and set method, they are also allowed in interfaces. My question is - is there any situation where defining properties in an interface is appropriate or should we stick to the scenarios described by MSDN?

  • help me "dry" out this .net XML serialization code

    - by Sarah Vessels
I have a base collection class and a child collection class, each of which are serializable. In a test, I discovered that simply having the child class's ReadXml method call base.ReadXml resulted in an InvalidCastException later on. First, here's the class structure: Base Class // Collection of Row objects [Serializable] [XmlRoot("Rows")] public class Rows : IList<Row>, ICollection<Row>, IEnumerable<Row>, IEquatable<Rows>, IXmlSerializable { public Collection<Row> Collection { get; protected set; } public void ReadXml(XmlReader reader) { reader.ReadToFollowing(XmlNodeName); do { using (XmlReader rowReader = reader.ReadSubtree()) { var row = new Row(); row.ReadXml(rowReader); Collection.Add(row); } } while (reader.ReadToNextSibling(XmlNodeName)); } } Derived Class // Acts as a collection of SpecificRow objects, which inherit from Row. Uses the same // Collection<Row> that Rows defines which is fine since SpecificRow : Row. [Serializable] [XmlRoot("MySpecificRowList")] public class SpecificRows : Rows, IXmlSerializable { public new void ReadXml(XmlReader reader) { // Trying to just do base.ReadXml(reader) causes a cast exception later reader.ReadToFollowing(XmlNodeName); do { using (XmlReader rowReader = reader.ReadSubtree()) { var row = new SpecificRow(); row.ReadXml(rowReader); Collection.Add(row); } } while (reader.ReadToNextSibling(XmlNodeName)); } public new Row this[int index] { // The cast in this getter is what causes InvalidCastException if I try // to call base.ReadXml from this class's ReadXml get { return (Row)Collection[index]; } set { Collection[index] = value; } } } And here's the code that causes a runtime InvalidCastException if I do not use the version of ReadXml shown in SpecificRows above (i.e., I get the exception if I just call base.ReadXml from within SpecificRows.ReadXml): TextReader reader = new StringReader(serializedResultStr); SpecificRows deserializedResults = (SpecificRows)xs.Deserialize(reader); SpecificRow = deserializedResults[0]; // this throws InvalidCastException So, the code above all compiles and runs exception-free, but it bugs me that Rows.ReadXml and SpecificRows.ReadXml are essentially the same code. The value of XmlNodeName and the new Row()/new SpecificRow() are the differences. How would you suggest I extract out all the common functionality of both versions of ReadXml? Would it be silly to create some generic class just for one method? Sorry for the lengthy code samples, I just wanted to provide the reason I can't simply call base.ReadXml from within SpecificRows.

  • How to get title of UITabBarItem in the More section?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have a UITabBarControllerDelegate method that determines the title of the UITabBarItem and does something accordingly. This works well for items in my UITabBar but when I click on the More button the rest of my UITabBarItems are in a UITableView. How can I determine the title in the More section? - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if ([self.tabBarController.selectedViewController.title isEqualToString:@"All"]) { //do something } }

I am trying to be able to upload files with Sinatra. I have the code here, but I'm getting the error "method file_hash does not exist" (see /lib/mvc/helpers/helpers.rb). What is going on here? Is there some dependency I'm missing.

  • Saving file to phone in stead of SD-card

    - by Galip
Hi guys, In my app I save an XML file to the users SD-card by doing File newxmlfile = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/Message.xml"); But not all users have SD-cards in their phone and therefore my app is likely to crash. How must I change my File creating method in order to save the file to the phone's memory instead of the SD-card? Also, how must I change the loading of the file? (currently: new InputSource(new FileInputStream(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/Message.xml")))

  • Using Action Filters for user login in Asp.NET MVC?

    - by ripper234
I recently built a site using Asp.Net. The way I chose to implement user login is through a base 'UserAwareController' class, that all controllers extend. It contained a reference to the UserRepository, and exposed a protected GetCurrentUser() method that concrete controllers could query. The whole process felt a bit wishy-washy to me. Is Action Filters a good alternative? What are its benefits? Is there something else I might be missing?
