  • Google analytics shows wrong number of page views, asp.net website

    Sometimes it can be for example 4500 requests, after a few hours it shows a few thousand less. What is wrong? It looks like analytics corrects itself. I changed from classic to Universal a few months ago, do not know if it has anything to do with this.   • Visual Studio 2010/2012 Context Menus and a Keyboard

    As a software developer, I spend a lot of time using Visual Studio. I have to say that I completely satisfied with Visual Studio generally. Nevertheless, sometimes Visual Studio starts annoying me. One issue which poisoned my existence for a long time is that context menu behavior in VS2010 is a little different than it was in VS2005/2008. Unfortunately, in VS2012 this behavior remains the same as in VS2010. So, what is the issue? Working with Visual Studio, I use the keyboard in most cases. I also use the Apps key on the keyboard to open context menus in the code editor. Moreover, long time ago I am got used to using some key sequences, and press the keys without even thinking. In VS2008, a mouse pointer position didn’t affect context menu navigation if I used the keyboard. Every time I opened a context menu I was sure that, for example, the "Apps, Down, Down, Enter, Up, Enter" key sequence always invoke "Organize Usings > Remove and Sort" function. But in VS2010, this behavior has been changed. If a mouse pointer is located over an opened context menu, the menu item under the mouse pointer becomes selected immediately! So, now the "Apps, Down, Down, Enter, Up, Enter" key sequence will not lead to expected results all the time. In some cases, the result may be a little scary. If you are using Visual SVN extension, this key sequence may invoke "Revert whole file" function. Of course, this is not a fatal problem because "Undo" function restores all the changes, but this behavior strongly annoys me. In Visual Studio 2012, context menu behavior is a little different than in VS2010, but a mouse pointer position still affects the keyboard navigation in the context menu, and this behavior is still annoying. I tried to find the way how to change this behavior, but I didn’t manage to find the answer quickly. Then I decided to go right though, so I wrote a small utility which fixes this issue. This utility watches for Apps key, and if the key is pressed in Visual Studio, the utility moves the mouse pointer to the top of the screen before opening the context menu. I wrote the first version in January, 2011; now I just added Visual Studio 2012 support. I hope you will find this utility useful! :)

    I am looking for a functional language that is basically dynamic programming - i.e. one where functions are first-class objects - but where all function calls are asynchronous by default; i.e. you define function X(a,b) = (Y(a)+Z(b)), and when X() is called, it sees it is waiting for the return from two functions, runs one in the current thread, and spawns a new thread to run the other. The future is very much parallel processing; multiple cores, multiple machines, the internet of things, etc. and I was wondering if there was a language specifically designed to make this kind of parallelization easy. I currently have only used imperative languages (c, php, java, ruby, etc), so I don't know anything about what kind of functional languages are available.

    in my .htaccess i've tons of directives, with same syntax: RewriteRule ^(.*)/PRODUCT_1.aspx http://www.site.com/product.php?id_product=2891 RewriteRule ^(.*)/PRODUCT_2.aspx http://www.site.com/product.php?id_product=2896 and everything works. Now, i created a RewriteMap in my because i need to increase velocity (20.000 redirect 301 in htaccess no good), so: RewriteEngine On RewriteMap redirects dbm=db:/var/www/html/presta152/prestashop/redirects.db RewriteCond ${redirects:$1} !="" RewriteRule ^(.*)$ ${redirects:$1} [redirect=permanent,last] and my redirects.db is created by redirects.txt, that contains: /PRODUCT_1.aspx http://www.site.com/product.php?id_product=2891 /PRODUCT_2.aspx http://www.site.com/product.php?id_product=2896 this works if i try to call for example: www.site.com/PRODUCT_1.aspx i'm redirected... but if i try to call www.site.com/everythingpossibileinside/PRODUCT_1.aspx the redirect doesn't work. So, in my .htaccess this rule: RewriteRule ^(.*)/PRODUCT_1.aspx http://www.site.com/product.php?id_product=2891 works, but in my RewriteMap no.     Let's say that we have a structure like this: Application -- Modules --Module1 -- Controller -- PublicHelper --Module2 -- Controller -- PublicHelper Whereby a module's Public Helper can provide helper functions. In nearly every module helper, the helper needs to access another module's public helper methods. Let's say for instance, in a PHP application: Module1 provides functionality to create a sale, and as part of the class Module1PublicHelper extends AbstractModuleHelper { public function createSale($customerId, $param, $param) { $userPublicHelper = // grab an instance of the user public helper $currentUser = $userPublicHelper->getCurrentUser(); } } class Module2PublicHelper extends AbstractModuleHelper { public function getCurrentUser() { //do something return $user; } } In this situation, the method needs to obtain an instance, either new or whatever of the user public helper. Given that all of Module Public Helper classes are instantiated with a minimum set of constructor params, e.g. EntityManager, what would be the best way to get a copy of it? Obviously, we can't really inject the user public helper class into the class containing createSale One solution would be to use a service locator or registry, however, testing the application isn't exactly easy.

  • Do I need a Point and a Vector object? Or just using a Vector object to represent a Point is ok?

    Structuring the components of an engine that I am developing along with a friend (learning purposes), I came to this doubt. Initially we had a Point constructor, like the following: var Point = function( x, y ) { this.x = x; this.y = y; }; But them we started to add some Vector math to it, and them decided to rename it to Vector2d. But now, some methods are a bit confusing (at least in my opinion), such as the following, which is used to make a line: //before the renaming of Point to Vector2, the parameters were startingPoint and endingPoint Geometry.Line = function( startingVector, endingVector ) { //... }; I should make a specific constructor for the Point object, or there are no problems in defining a point as a vector? I know a vector have magnitude and direction, but I see so many people using a vector to just represent the position of an object.

    I have an issue with Google Analytics, can't seem to find a guide how to activate Demographics and Interests reports.   • Implementing hitbox polygon

    I'm creating a shooter, it's still very early, but i'm implementing some polygon hitboxes. So far i have created a polygon class, and i'm looking into how i can hook it onto my player. I'm trying to stay away from having a Tick() function in my polygon class, and I would rather not update the position every tick (it would clutter up my tick functions). At the same time I would really like to have the positions in there somehow (it has a drawing function, and i will be using it for hit detection) How would i go about implementing this polygon object into my entities?

  • SignalR cannot read property client of undefined

    I'm trying to add SignalR to my project (ASPNET MVC 4). But I can't make it work. In the below image you can see the error I'm receiving. I've read a lot of stackoverflow posts but none of them is resolving my issue. NOTE I'm following the instruction found here on how to set up Windsor Castle to make it work with SignalR, and again, seems that the proxy cannot be created and I'm getting the same error: Cannot read property client of undefined meaning that the proxy to the hub was not created This is how I have it in the server public class IncidentServerHub : Hub and like this in the client var clientServerHub = $.connection.incidentServerHub; Again, I can see the dynamically created file here: /GdpSoftware.Server.Web/signalr/hubs So, Why the proxy is not created?   • SMO ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout setting is ignored

    I am successfully using Powershell with SMO to backup most databases. However, I have several large databases in which I receive a "timeout" error "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired". The timout consistently occurs at 10 minutes. I have tried setting ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout to 0, 6000, and to [System.Int32]::MaxValue. The setting made no difference. I have found a number of Google references which indicate setting it to 0 makes it unlimited. No matter what I try, the timeouts consistently occur at 10 minutes. I even set Remote Query Timeout on the server to 0 (via Studio Manager) to no avail. Below is my SMO connection where I set the time out and the actual backup function. Further below is the output from my script. UPDATE Interestingly enough, I wrote the backup function in C# using VS 2008 and the timeout override does work within that environment. I am in the process of incorporating that C# process into my Powershell Script until I can find out why the timeout override does not work with just Powershell.   • FOSUserBundle override mapping to remove need for username

    I want to remove the need for a username in the FOSUserBundle. My users will login using an email address only and I've added real name fields as part of the user entity. I realised that I needed to redo the entire mapping as described here. I think I've done it correctly but when I try to submit the registration form I get the error: "Only field names mapped by Doctrine can be validated for uniqueness." The strange thing is that I haven't tried to assert a unique constraint to anything in the user entity.   • touchend event doesn't work on Android

    Hi, I've just started looking at doing some basic mobile web development on the android and an writing a test script to investigate the touch events. I've run the following code in the android emulator, and the touchend event never gets fired. Can anyone tell me why ? I've tried in three versions of the emulator (1.6, 2.1 and 2.2) and all three behave in the same way. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.   • Android 1.5 - 2.1 Search Activity affects Parent Lifecycle

    Behavior seems consistent in Android 1.5 to 2.1 Short version is this, it appears that when my (android search facility) search activity is fired from the android QSR due to either a suggestion or search, UNLESS my search activity in turn fires off a VISIBLE activity that is not the parent of the search, the search parents life cycle changes. It will NOT fire onDestroy until I launch a visible activity from it. If I do, onDestroy will fire fine. I need a way to get around this behavior... The long version: We have implemented a SearchSuggestion provider and a Search activity in our application. The one thing about it that is very odd is that if the SearchManager passes control to our custom Search activity, AND that activity does not create a visible Activity the Activity which parented the search does not destroy (onDestroy doesn't run) and it will not until we call a visible Activity from the parent activity. As long as our Search Activity fires off another Activity that gets focus the parent activity will fire onDestroy when I back out of it. The trick is that Activity must have a visual component. I tried to fake it out with a 'pass through' Activity so that my Search Activity could fire off another Intent and bail out but that didn't work either. I have tried setting our SearchActivity to launch singleTop and I also tried setting its noHistory attribute to true, tried setResult(RESULT_OK) in SearchACtivity prior to finish, bunch of other things, nothing is working. This is the chunk of code in our Search Activity onCreate. Couple of notes about it: If Intent is Action_Search (user typed in their own search and didn't pick a suggestion), we display a list of results as our Search Activity is a ListActivity. In this case when the item is picked, the Search Activity closes and our parent Activity does fire onDestroy() when we back out. If Intent is Action_View (user picked a suggestion) when type is "action" we fire off an Intent that creates a new visible Activity. In this case same thing, when we leave that new activity and return to the parent activity, the back key does cause the parent activity to fire onDestroy when leaving. If Intent is Action_View (user picked a suggestion) when type is "pitem" is where the problem lies. It works fine (the method call focuses an item on the parent activity), but when the back button is hit on the parent activity onDestroy is NOT called. IF after this executes I pick an option in the parent activity that fires off another activity and return to the parent then back out it will fire onDestroy() in the parent activity. Note that the "action" intent ends up running the exact same method call as "pitem", it just bring up a new visual Activity first.   • Example map-reduce oozie program not working on CDH 4.5

    I am using Hadoop (CDH 4.5) on my mac since some time now, and do run map reduce jobs regularly. I installed oozie recently (again, CDH4.5) following instructions at: http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/cdh/4/oozie-3.3.2-cdh4.5.0/DG_QuickStart.html, and tried to run sample programs provided. However, it always fails with the following error. Looks like the workflow is not getting run at all. The Console URL field in the Job info is also empty. Could someone please help on this?   • How to group using XSLT

    I'm having trouble grouping a set of nodes. I've found an article that does work with grouping and i have tested it and it works on a small test stylesheet i have I now need to use it in my stylesheet where I only want to select node sets that have a specific value. What I want to do in my stylesheet is select all users who have a userlevel of 2 then to group them by the volunteer region. What happens at the minute is that it gets the right amount of users with userlevel 2 but doesn't print them.   • Using DateTime in a SqlParameter for Stored Procedure, format error

    I'm trying to call a stored procedure (on a SQL 2005 server) from C#, .NET 2.0 using DateTime as a value to a SqlParameter. The SQL type in the stored procedure is 'datetime'. Executing the sproc from SQL Management Studio works fine. But everytime I call it from C# I get an error about the date format. When I run SQL Profiler to watch the calls, I then copy paste the exec call to see whats going on. These are my observations and notes about what I've attempted: 1) If I pass the DateTime in directly as a DateTime or converted to SqlDateTime, the field is surrounding by a PAIR of single quotes, such as @Date_Of_Birth=N''1/8/2009 8:06:17 PM'' 2) If I pass the DateTime in as a string, I only get the single quotes 3) Using SqlDateTime.ToSqlString() does not result in a UTC formatted datetime string (even after converting to universal time) 4) Using DateTime.ToString() does not result in a UTC formatted datetime string. 5) Manually setting the DbType for the SqlParameter to DateTime does not change the above observations. So, my questions then, is how on earth do I get C# to pass the properly formatted time in the SqlParameter? Surely this is a common use case, why is it so difficult to get working? I can't seem to convert DateTime to a string that is SQL compatable (e.g. '2009-01-08T08:22:45') EDIT RE: BFree, the code to actually execute the sproc is as follows: using (SqlCommand sprocCommand = new SqlCommand(sprocName)) { sprocCommand.Connection = transaction.Connection; sprocCommand.Transaction = transaction; sprocCommand.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure; sprocCommand.Parameters.AddRange(parameters.ToArray()); sprocCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(); } To go into more detail about what I have tried: parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@Date_Of_Birth", DOB)); parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@Date_Of_Birth", DOB.ToUniversalTime())); parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@Date_Of_Birth", DOB.ToUniversalTime().ToString())); SqlParameter param = new SqlParameter("@Date_Of_Birth", System.Data.SqlDbType.DateTime); param.Value = DOB.ToUniversalTime(); parameters.Add(param); SqlParameter param = new SqlParameter("@Date_Of_Birth", SqlDbType.DateTime); param.Value = new SqlDateTime(DOB.ToUniversalTime()); parameters.Add(param); parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@Date_Of_Birth", new SqlDateTime(DOB.ToUniversalTime()).ToSqlString())); Additional EDIT The one I thought most likely to work: SqlParameter param = new SqlParameter("@Date_Of_Birth", System.Data.SqlDbType.DateTime); param.Value = DOB; Results in this value in the exec call as seen in the SQL Profiler @Date_Of_Birth=''2009-01-08 15:08:21:813'' If I modify this to be @Date_Of_Birth='2009-01-08T15:08:21' It works, but it won't parse with pair of single quotes, and it wont convert to a datetime correctly with the space between the date and time and with the milliseconds on the end. Update and Success First and foremost, thank you everyone for the answers. I post this for the sake of completeness and accuracy on SO - because I certainly do not do it for my pride... I had copy/pasted the code above after the request from below. I trimmed things here and there to be concise. Turns out my problem was in the code I left out, which I'm sure any one of you would have spotted in an instant. I had wrapped my sproc calls inside a transaction. Turns out that I was simply not doing transaction.Commit()!!!!! I'm ashamed to say it, but there you have it. I still don't know what's going on with the syntax I get back from the profiler. A coworker watched with his own instance of the profiler from his computer, and it returned proper syntax. Watching the very SAME executions from my profiler showed the incorrect syntax. It acted as a red-herring, making me believe there was a query syntax problem instead of the much more simple and true answer, which was that I need to commit the transaction! I marked an answer below as correct, and threw in some up-votes on others because they did, after all, answer the question, even if they didn't fix my specific (brain lapse) issue. If I comment out the TCircle loop, then I get a similar error about TSquare. If I comment the TSquare loop out as well, the code compiles and works. Well, it works in the sense that it enumerates every object since they all descend from TShape. The strange thing is that the line number that the compiler indicates is 2 lines beyond the end of my file. In my demo project, it indicated line 177, but there's only 175 lines. Is there any way to make this work? I'd like to be able to assign to Circle directly without going through any typecasts or checking in my for loop itself.

  • How do I stop a datagrid's first-row itemRenderer from instantiating/adding/initializing/etc twice?

    In a Flex DataGrid's first row, the itemRenderer will initialize twice. Tracing the results reveals that the flex framework is possibly creating two instances of the first row's itemRenderer. In a more complex application, where the itemRenderer contains a data-bound ColorPicker, we're seeing an infinite loop occur because of this problem. Only the first row's itemRenderer is initialized twice. Is there a way to override flex's behavior and stop this from occurring?   • Jquery dependent dropdown doesn't work in IE

    I have a 3 dropdowns: countries, states, and cities. States and cities are dependent of the previous form and loaded via AJAX. In Firefox and Chrome everything is ok, but in IE (8 in my case) when I select a state, the cities dropdown isn't loaded. It is like IE don't detect the change.     Hello, My first post here. I want to make a horizontal menu with submenu's sliding down on mouseover. I know I could use jQuery but this is to practice my javascript skills. If i go now over menu B the interval applied to A is now applied to B. There are now 2 interval functions applied to B. The one originally for A and a new one triggered by the mouseover on B. If I would go to A all the intervals are now applied to A. I have been searching for hours but and I am completely stuck. Thanks in advance.
