• Problem with variable inside gsp

  Hi, I have a loop inside a gsp page, and I want to do a calculation on the fly, so I set a variable: <g:set var="total" value="0" /> And in the loop: <g:each in="${mob}" var="m"> ... <g:set var="total" value="${total+(m.q*m.sts.uf)}"/> ... </g:each> The "total" value does not correspond to the expected calculation. m.q is an integer, and m.sts.uf is a float. Any hints ? Thanks.

  I have a control template for TreeViewItems and instead of showing the normal FocusVisualStyle I have a MultiTrigger set up like this: <MultiTrigger> <MultiTrigger.Conditions> <Condition Property="IsSelected" Value="true"/> <Condition Property="IsSelectionActive" Value="true"/> </MultiTrigger.Conditions> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold"/> </MultiTrigger> However this also causes the FontWeight to change to bold when a TreeViewItem's parent item is selected. Is there any way I can stop that from happening?

• Inconsistent values in network switch throughput values

  Quite simple, I have a network switch with SNMP, and need to calculate the throughput of the switch port, so simply I use ifOutOctets. We transfer a file which is 145MB and if we use the total from the start, subtracted from the value at the end then the value is : 158901842 I simply can't get the value to match, or be anything similar to what the real transfer is. I understand that there may be excess traffic etc but I just can't get it to be anywhere similar (the server being tested has no traffic when this is not running) We have tried for a long time and suspect there may be an issue with the recording on the HP switch, do you have any suggestions, or how should we be calculating it?   I'm trying to retrieve the messageId for the email being sent. I've tried explicitly setting the messageId just before sending, like this: $mail->setHeader('messageId',ezcMailTools::generateMessageId('example.com')); I then return the messageId after sending, like this: return $mail->getHeader('messageId'); ... but the counter portion of the Id is always off by one. For example, the return value will be: [email protected] ... but the actual messageId will be: [email protected] Returning the messageId header value without explicitly setting it first returns a blank string. How can I retrieve this value?

• SQL Server pivots? some way to set column names to values within a row

  I am building a system of multiple trackers that are going to use a lot of the same columns so there is a table for the trackers, the tracker columns, then a cross reference for which columns go with which tracker, when a user inserts a tracker row the different column values are stored in multiple rows that share the same record id and store both the value and the name of the particular column. I need to find a way to dynamically change the column name of the value to be the column name that is stored in the same row. i.e. id | value | name ------------------ 23 | red | color 23 | fast | speed needs to look like this. id | color | speed ------------------ 23 | red | fast Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

• (NOT) NULL for NVARCHAR columns

  Allowing NULL values on a column is normally done to allow the absense of a value to be represented. When using NVARCHAR there is aldready a possibility to have an empty string, without setting the column to NULL. In most cases I cannot see a semantical difference between an NVARCHAR with an empty string and a NULL value for such a column. Setting the column as NOT NULL saves me from having to deal with the possibility of NULL values in the code and it feels better to not have to different representations of "no value" (NULL or an empty string). Will I run into any other problems by setting my NVARCHAR columns to NOT NULL. Performance? Storage size? Anything I've overlooked on the usage of the values in the client code?

  Background I'm working on a symmetric rounding class and I find that I'm stuck with regards to how to best find the number at position x that I will be rounding. I'm sure there is an efficient mathematical way to find the single digit and return it without having to resort to string parsing. Problem Suppose, I have the following (C#) psuedo-code: var position = 3; var value = 102.43587m; // I want this no ? (that is 5) protected static int FindNDigit(decimal value, int position) { // This snippet is what I am searching for } Also, it is worth noting that if my value is a whole number, I will need to return a zero for the result of FindNDigit. Does anyone have any hints on how I should approach this problem? Is this something that is blaringly obvious that I'm missing?

  Hi guys. I'm looking to create an options table in my db that makes every record a system option, so I can work with a little number of fields. My db has the following structure: 3 columns named id, name, and value The following data is inserted as an example: +--+-----------+--------------------------+ |id|name |value | +--+-----------+--------------------------+ | 1|uri |www.example.com | | 2|sitename |Working it out | | 3|base_folder|/folder1/folder2/ | | 4|slogan |Just a slogan for the site| +--+-----------+--------------------------+ That way I can include a large number of customizable system options very easily. The problem is that I don't know how to retrieve them. How do I get the value of uri and store it as a var? And better yet, how do I get, for exmaple, values of id 1 and 4 only without making a query each time? (I assume multiple queries are useless and a pretty ugly method.) I know the question is pretty basic but I'm lost here. I'd really appreciate your answer!

  I am working on an ICA implementation wich is based on the assumption, that all source signals are independent. Does the problem lie in the random number generator, the precision of the numerical values in my misunderstanding of the concepts of mean and expected value?

The xml scheme definition states that it is of the type xsd:decimal: <xsd:restriction base="xsd:decimal"> <xsd:minInclusive value="0.0"/> <xsd:maxInclusive value="1.0"/> </xsd:restriction> I have a sitemap generator that uses up to 10 positions after decimal point. Where often only the last few positions differ. These numbers are perfectly right according to the xsd, but yet i found some pages(3,4) that state that only 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, .., 1.0 are valid values. How will the search engines react to such a sitemap? Will some just round the value? I know that it is unlikely that someone can provide an answer to that question, unless he works for that search engine, but i think experiences will also do.

• Drupal CCK Text field not saving.

  Hey Guys, I've been trying to write a CCK Field based on the Text field. But if I create a standard CCK Text field with only 1 value. Then edit a content item for this type, the values are never persisted. When I go back in and edit the same node, the value isn't there. I checked the database and its not in the table for the CCK node. If I use more than one value it works fine. I'm upto date on CCK (6.x-2.6) and CTools (6.x-1.5). Has anyone seen this? and a possible solution?

  Is it possible to customize Bugzilla bug numbers and add a letter designator, to immediately know it came from Bugzilla? My company is evaluating Bugzilla and has now added many new bugs. We also use 2 other bug databases. This wasn't my decision and I believe they were trying to incorporate better reporting, etc. I read an answer here about "seeding" Bugzilla bug numbers, by setting the "AUTO_INCREMENT" field in the "bugs" table to a different value. I wish I would've thought about this sooner and found this board. Setting that value to start at 9000 or some extraordinary value would have ensured that we knew exactly which bugs came from Bugzilla. However, would it be possible to change the field in the "bugs" table to accept letters, as well? Of course that would probably just mess up the whole auto incrementing of the numbers. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

• The C vs. C++ way

  Hi, So I have to write a program that will iterate through an image and record the pixel locations corresponding to each color pixel that appears in it. For example, given http://www.socuteurl.com/fishywishykissy I need to find the coordinates of all yellow, purple, dark pink, etc pixels. In C++ I would use a hash table to do this. I would iterate through the image, check each pixel's value, look up that value and either add to a vector of pixel coordinates if it were found or add a new entry to the table if the value were not already there. The problem is that I may need to write this program in pure C instead of C++. How would I go about doing this in C? I feel like implementing a hash table would be pretty obnoxious and error-prone: should I avoid doing that? I'm pretty inexperienced with C and have a fair amount of C++ experience, if that matters.   I have a datagrid in flash 8 that has an array as a data provider. One of the items in the array is a number, which represents an amount of money. So I iterate through the array and create a new item "amountFormatted" in each line of the array. For example I have a value of 10 and a formatted value of £10.00 in the array. This formatted value then appears in the datagrid. This seems a little cumbersome and I wondered if there was a way to set some automatic function so that the column in the datagrid is automatically formatted. a bit like an excel column can have formatting applied to it. I hope that is clear, thanks for any response.

• Creating a pie chart for an app

  I'm developing an app which requires a pie chart to display a set number of modules. The modules need to be clickable, sending a value to the database for how many times the module has been clicked. The slices will change color etc depending on this database value. The slices will always be equal in size. All simple stuff. My question is what charting system would you use. I've been looking at google charts but I have no way of registering a value in a slice without changing its 'weight' in the chart. So ideally I would like to add data-stage="2" to each slice that I can access with a custom method. Also google charts seems quite heavy for what I need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Joe

• Rails precision error

  When I run this in my Rails application: my_envelope.transactions.sum(:amount) This SQL is shown in the log files: SQL (0.3ms) SELECT SUM("transactions"."amount") AS sum_id FROM "transactions" WHERE (envelope_id = 834498537) And this value is returned: <BigDecimal:1011be570,'0.2515999999 9999997E2',27(27)> As you can see, the value is 25.159999. It should be 25.16. When I run the same SQL on the database myself, the correct value is returned. I'm a little confused because I know that there are precision problems with Floats, but it is returning a BigDecimal. The SQL column type is decimal. Any ideas?
