• Enterprise Manager Extensibility Exchange – Version 1.1 Now Available!

  Since its announcement at Oracle OpenWorld 2012, the Enterprise Manager Extensibility Exchange is becoming the source to access Enterprise Manager entities, including plug-ins, connectors, deployment procedures, assemblies, templates, and more.  Based on feedback, the Exchange has recently been updated so Enterprise Manager administrators can find and access Oracle and partner-built plug-ins and connectors easier. The Exchange enables anyone to contribute an Enterprise Manager entity through the “Contribute” tab, where information about the entity is captured and placed on the Exchange once it is approved.  The Exchange encourages comment through the Enterprise Manager Forum.  An Oracle partner can build a plug-in by accessing the Extensibility Development Kit (EDK) found at the Development Resources tab.  Oracle partners and customers can can also engage a partner that has built its practice specializing in plug-in development and deployment.  One of those partners is Blue Medora, which has effectively used the EDK to build plug-ins to manage non-Oracle targets.  Next week Blue Medora will be a "Guest Blogger" and tell a great story about heterogeneous datacenter management.Partners can also have their plug-ins validated through the Oracle Validated Integration (OVI) program.  NetApp is an example of a partner that recently built an Enterprise Manager plug-in and has validated it through the program.  Check back here in two weeks for their blog post describing the value of an Enterprise Manager "OVI" plug-in as well as discuss specifics the NetApp storage plug-in.  Check out the NetApp Enterprise Manager Validated Integration datasheet in the meantime. • glibc not found when trying to install Absinthe?

  I am trying to install Absinthe 2.0.4 on Ubuntu 11.10 on a netbook. When I try to run the install file, this keeps on happening: rafael@RafLaptop:~/Desktop/absinthe-linux-2.0.4$ ./absinthe.x86 ./absinthe.x86: /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.15' not found (required by ./absinthe.x86) Do I need to upgrade GLIBC? If so, how do I do that? Since I'm on a netbook I can't use a LiveCD so I wanted to know if there was a way I could fix this issue without reinstalling my whole OS. Any explanations about what GLIBC is exactly would be great too since this is a learning experience for me. I know that GLIBC is a part of libc.so.6 and so I tried to run sudo apt-get install libc.so.6 but was told that it was up to date. But GLIBC isn't? I hope this articulates my problem well, if there are any pieces of missing info or questions to clarity my question, please let me know! ~-~ EDIT/UPDATE: So after some help on the AskUbuntu chat room from user izx, I have gathered the following information/understanding: -I need to run this program with Ubuntu 12.04 or recompile it from source -Upgrading libc on Oneiric to 2.15 while possible, is not an easy task and is not officially supported.

• APC module causing strange error

  When I run php -v I get: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/apc.so' - /usr/lib64/php/modules/apc.so: undefined symbol: php_pcre_exec in Unknown on line 0 This isn't my first rodeo. I've setup APC multiple times. This is a MediaTemple Dedicated Virtual 4.0 with Plesk 11. Plesk 11 is the only thing essentially different from the other servers I've set this up on. I've verified that pcre-devel is installed. I've compiled APC from source as well as used pecl to install it. No difference. I also tried downgrading to APC 3.0.19, with no love.

• Xen HVM guest has severe clock drift

  I am seeing a very severe clock drift on my Xen HVM VPS, rented from a hosting provider, so I don't have access to the dom0 system. I continuously run ntpd, but the clock drifts by as much as 30 seconds in 5 minutes and NTP cannot keep up. Has anyone experienced this? • PHP file gets download instead of getting executed when browsed in any browser

  I have a phpinfo.php file which I am trying to run by browsing to it using browser but the browser downloads the file instead of executing it. phpinfo.php <?php phpinfo(); ?> I followed following this post, added following lines to my /etc/apache2/httpd.conf and restarted apache but invain. phpinfo.php still gets downloaded. AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps Have I added these line to the correct file? On an openSuSE forum following was mentioned. I followed this too but still no success. Same problem is persisting. In case the browser wants to save your php files instead of displaying the content, you should enable php support in the /etc/apache2/mod_userdir.conf file. • Backup and restore MySQL database without system access

  Hi guys, I am trying to move a database from 1 provider to another, the problem is that I don't have system access at either end (ie, no ssh), so I cannot use a mysqldump. I have already tried using MySQL Administrator, the backup took about 45 minutes, but when it came to restoring it was moving at a snails pace, and estimating 12+ hours. This is a live app so I need to keep the downtime to an absolute minimum. The database consists of 35 tables, a mixture of MyISAM and InnoDB, the whole thing comes to about 4.4GB. The source and destination databases are both running on very powerful servers. Any suggestions on a quick way of doing this will be gratefully received. Thanks

The subject line must come before the Mail content, so I am looking for something along the lines of: echo "mail content" | prepend "Subject: All that matters" | sendmail emailataddres.com sed and awk tend to be really awkward to use and remember. EDIT:Just to clarify: echo "Mail content" is just an illustrating example. I need to be able to prepend stuff to stdout streams from any source. e.g.: ifconfig, zcat, etc..

• Router loses connection to internet randomly

  I have a Belkin wireless G plus Mimo router and it randomly loses the connection to the internet. It seems to happen for a second or two, not enough to impact day to day browsing. But enough to disconnect games, or stall videos I am watching. It happens whether I am plugged into the router or connecting via wifi. I am unsure if it is my router or Comcast that is causing this issue. If I connect a computer directly to the modem the problem never occurs, so that tells me it is probably the router. But I also had a Netgear wireless router WGR614, and it had the same problem. I don't know where to start looking for the source of the problem. What logs should I be combing through? All my machines are win 7 of varying versions.

• Force running a program as non-administrator in Vista

  I've just installed, on Vista 32-bit, a program which in my opinion shouldn't require administrator rights. It's not installed in a system directory, and its purpose shouldn't obviously require any special privileges. However, the .exe has a UAC shield on it, and it asks me to elevate privileges immediately upon execution. I'm prepared to risk it doing nasty things with the privileges of my user account, but not prepared to risk elevating it. Is there anything I can do short of setting up a virtual machine for it (or downloading the source and compiling it myself)? (FWIW, the program in question is Pencil - pencil.evolus.vn/en-US/Downloads/Application.aspx - but I'm more interested in general answers than app-specific ones).

• Firefox completes the address bar with content absent from my history

  I have set Firefox to complete the address bar with elements from the history only ( other options are: nothing, bookmarks, and a history+bookmarks). However, Firefox still continues to complete the address bar with elements that are no longer in my history. A search in the history returns 0 result for the incriminated string. How can I solve this without loosing my entire history? I have already tried shift+delete on the elements I would like to delete, without success. How can I find the source of a certain completion ? (like an SQL request in the sqlite3 files used to store history) I'm using Firefox 16.0.2 on OS X 10.8.2.

• Windows 7 Line In Delay Issue

  Not sure if this question should be posted on a different stack exchange site, so if you find that it should not be posted here, please move it. Either way, if you know the solution, please advise. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on my Dell Latitude 2100 netbook and I'm having an issue with the line in device/driver/functionality. The device & driver are stock: Driver Date: 7/13/2009 Driver Version: 6.1.7600.16385 I'm almost sure that the manufacturer of the sound card is RealTek. The problem is that there is a delay (when monitoring input) between the source and the speakers. My setup is bass guitar running through a 12' long instrument cable (1/4") with a 1/4" female to 1/8" male adapter into the line in port on the computer. Then the 15' long headphones/line out cable goes into a standard set of powered speakers. How do I get rid of this delay? Thanks for any help.

  I have been offered an "opportunity" to take over maintenance of a small internal website run by my group that provides information about schedules and photos of events the groups done. My manager sent me the link to the site and checked it out. The site looked clean and neat but loaded in ~5 seconds. I thought this was a little long considering the site really didn't contain a lot of content. This prompted me to take a look under the hood at the pages source code. To my horror it'd been totally hacked together using nested tables! I'm new so I really can't say no to this "opportunity" so what should I do with it? Every fiber of my being feels that the only correct thing to do is over hall the site using CSS, Div's, Span's and any other appropriate tags that a sane/good web developer would used to begin with instead of depending on the render incentive magic of tables. But I'd like to ask programmers with more experienced then me, who have been in this situation. What should I do? Is my only realistic option to leave the horror as is and only adjusting the content as requested? I'm really torn between good development and the corporate reality I'm part of.   My mac laptop died. The hard drive is good. I am able to pull what I need off my mac and copy it to windows using an open source tool (I forgot the name of it). I need my old mac emails. I was using the macintosh thunderbird for emails. How do I load those emails into thunderbird, outlook, or any other windows email tool? I did google this and there were some brief explanations, but they did not work. The vast majority of posts are about going from windows to mac.

• xorg-edgers PPA with llvmpipe breaks AMD APU system

  I've read before where this had happened to another user with the same system... I was running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Kernel 3.2.0.29 and decided to give xorg-edgers a try. I purged fglrx* and xorg* before beginning. I upgraded with sudo apt-get upgrade -d The system downloaded and installed 109MB worth of data to the system, including llvmpipe which I am very unfamiliar with, and Kernel 3.5.0.11. The system was then rebooted to finalize the upgrade. The system boots to a black screen and then tells me "The system is running in low-graphics mode". Did I miss a step in the install? Or do the newest open-source drivers just not work with my hardware? I realize this hardware (APU) is some of the newer development. I dropped to command via the fallback menu and attempted to boot lightdm as root, but the system hangs in 'Configuring kernel parameters' at Starting initializes zram swaping. ...and then it just sits there. The other thing that concerns me is the output at the top of the screen that says: could not write bytes: Broken pipe Does llvmpipe work for this type of system? To be clear the system is: MSI x370-206us Laptop Radeon HD 6320 AMD e450 APU 1.67ghz dual-core Any help would be much appreciated. Like I said, I'm pretty sure I followed the right order of operations for the install procedure, but I was curious if anyone with similar hardware had experienced anything similar.

• Incorporating libs into module pattern

  I have recently started using require.js (along with Backbone.js, jQuery, and a handful of other JavaScript libs) and I love the module pattern (here's a nice synopsis if you're unfamiliar: http://www.adequatelygood.com/2010/3/JavaScript-Module-Pattern-In-Depth). Something I'm running up against is best practices on incorporating libs that don't (out of the box) support the module pattern. For example, jQuery without modification is going to load into a global jQuery variable and that's that. Require.js recognizes this and provides an example project for download with a (slightly) modified version of jQuery to incorporate with a require.js project. This goes against everything I've ever learned about using external libs - never modify the source. I can list a ton of reasons. Regardless, this is not an approach I'm comfortable with. I have been using a mixed approach - wherein I build/load the "traditional" JS libraries in a "traditional" way (available in the global namespace) and then using the module pattern for all of my application code. This seems okay to me, but it bugs me because one of the real beauties of the module pattern (no globals) is getting perverted. Anyone else got a better solution to this problem?

• MvcReportViewer v.0.4.0 is available!

Thank you everybody for your bug repots and help with the project. Version 0.4.0 Added support for ASP.NET MVC 5 Removed jQuery dependency. I have not tested it on IE8 or earlier versions. Any help with testing is welcome! Fixed problem with SSRS keep-alive cookies. Keep-alive cookies are issued every time a report is opened during a browser session. Many people don't restart their browsers and in my case, Chrome doesn't get rid of the cookie session data on close - had to manually delete them for the reports to start working again. I added KeepSessionAlive control settings to manage SSRS keep-alive behavior. It is set to false by default to fix Bad Request 400: Request Too Long issue. You can find usage example in Fluent.cshtml. Fixed the bug when ReportViewer Control parameters was not parsed when ShowParameterPrompts parameter had not been set. Changed public static MvcReportViewerIframe MvcReportViewer method to use IEnumerable<KeyValuePair<string, object>> reportParameters instead of simple object. The reason is users reported that they mostly use multiple report parameters’ values. Added support for SSRS hosted on Windows Azure. Users should set MvcReportViewer.IsAzureSSRS property to true in Web.config to use Windows Azure authentication. I do not have Windows Azure SSRS and build the code using http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg552871.aspx#Authentication article. It would be nice if somebody from community tested the change or provided me a test report on Windows Azure for testing purposes.
