  • TreeView Controls - HTREEVIEW

    - by nXqd
    I'm new to win32 API programming and I try to understand source code of treeview from codeproject. But I really don't understand this : BOOL TreeView::DoNotify(HWND hWnd, UINT msg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam) { // blah blah HTREEVIEW Selected = (HTREEITEM)SendDlgItemMessage(hWnd,ID_TREE,TVM_GETNEXTITEM,TVGN_CARET,(LPARAM)Selected); // halb halb } It doesn't work ( Selected is used without initializing) until I declare Selected as global variable. Thanks for reading this and I need your help .

  • Using Include() with inherited entities problem

    - by Peter Stegnar
    In EF eager loading related entities is easy. But I'm having difficulties including inherited entities when loading data using table-per-type model. This is my model: Entities: ArticleBase (base article entity) ArticleSpecial (inherited from ArticleBase) UserBase (base user entity) UserSpecial (inherited from UserBase) Image Relations are as shown on the image (omitting many columns): In reality my users are always of type UserSpecial, since UserBase is used in another application, thus we can share credentials. That's the only reason I have two separate tables. UserBase table can't be changed in any way shape or form, because the other app would break. Question How am I suppose to load ArticleSpecial with both CreatedBy and EditedBy set, so that both are of type UserSpecial (that defines Image relation)? I've tried (unsuccessfully though) these options: 1. Using lambda expressions: context.ArticleBases .OfType<ArticleSpecial>() .Include("UserCreated.Image") .Include("UserEdited.Image"); In this case the problem is that both CreatedBy and EditedBy are related to UserBase, that doesn't define Image navigation. So I should somehow cast these two to UserSpecial type like: context.ArticleBases .OfType<ArticleSpecial>() .Include("UserCreated<UserSpecial>.Image") .Include("UserEdited<UserSpecial>.Image"); But of course using generics in Include("UserCreated<UserSpecial>.Image") don't work. 2. I have tried using LINQ query var results = from articleSpecial in ctx.ArticleBase.OfType<ArticleSpecial>() join created in ctx.UserBase.OfType<UserSpecial>().Include("Image") on articleSpecial.UserCreated.Id equals created.Id join edited in ctx.UserBase.OfType<UserSpecial>().Include("Image") on articleSpecial.UserEdited.Id equals edited.Id select articleSpecial; In this case I'm only getting ArticleSpecial object instances without related properties being set. I know I should select those somehow, but I don't know how? Select part in my LINQ could be changed to something like select new { articleSpecial, articleSpecial.UserCreated, articleSpecial.UserEdited }; but images are still not loaded into my context. My joins in this case are barely used to filter out articleSpecial results, but they don't load entities into context (I suppose). Can anybody provide any help regarding this problem? I think it's not so uncommon.

  • How to declare and implement a COM interface on C# that inherits from another COM interface?

    - by Carlos Loth
    I'm trying to understand what is the correct why to implement COM interfaces from C# code. It is straightforward when the interface doesn't inherit from other base interface. Like this one: [ComImport, Guid("2047E320-F2A9-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262"), InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIUnknown)] public interface IShellFolderViewCB { long MessageSFVCB(uint uMsg, int wParam, int lParam); } However things start to become weired when I need to implement an interface that inherits from other COM interfaces. For example, if I implement the IPersistFolder2 interface which inherits from IPersistFolder which inherits from IPersist as I usually on C# code: [ComImport, Guid("0000010c-0000-0000-C000-000000000046"), InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIUnknown)] public interface IPersist { void GetClassID([Out] out Guid classID); } [ComImport, Guid("000214EA-0000-0000-C000-000000000046"), InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIUnknown)] public interface IPersistFolder : IPersist { void Initialize([In] IntPtr pidl); } [ComImport, Guid("1AC3D9F0-175C-11d1-95BE-00609797EA4F"), InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIUnknown)] public interface IPersistFolder2 : IPersistFolder { void GetCurFolder([Out] out IntPtr ppidl); } The operating system is not able to call the methods on my object implementation. When I'm debugging I can see the constructor of my IPersistFolder2 implementation is called many times, however the interface methods I've implemented aren't called. I'm implementing the IPersistFolder2 as follows: [Guid("A4603CDB-EC86-4E40-80FE-25D5F5FA467D")] public class PersistFolder: IPersistFolder2 { void IPersistFolder2.GetClassID(ref Guid classID) { ... } void IPersistFolder2.Initialize(IntPtr pidl) { ... } void IPersistFolder2.GetCurFolder(out IntPtr ppidl) { ... } } What seems strange is when I declare the COM interface imports as follow, it works: [ComImport, Guid("0000010c-0000-0000-C000-000000000046"), InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIUnknown)] internal interface IPersist { void GetClassID([Out] out Guid classID); } [ComImport, Guid("000214EA-0000-0000-C000-000000000046"), InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIUnknown)] internal interface IPersistFolder : IPersist { new void GetClassID([Out] out Guid classID); void Initialize([In] IntPtr pidl); } [ComImport, Guid("1AC3D9F0-175C-11d1-95BE-00609797EA4F"), InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIUnknown)] internal interface IPersistFolder2 : IPersistFolder { new void GetClassID([Out] out Guid classID); new void Initialize([In] IntPtr pidl); void GetCurFolder([Out] out IntPtr ppidl); } I don't know why it works when I declare the COM interfaces that way (hidding the base interface methods using new). Maybe it is related to the way IUnknown works. Does anyone know what is the correct way of implementing COM interfaces in C# that inherits from other COM interfaces and why?

  • weird behavior with acts_as_taggable_on

    - by macek
    For some reason, tags aren't showing up on a taggable object when an tagger is specified. testing the post class Post < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_taggable_on :tags belongs_to :user end >> p = Post.first => #<Post id: 1, ...> >> p.is_taggable? => true >> p.tag_list = "foo, bar" => "foo, bar" >> p.save => true >> p.tags => [#<Tag id: 1, name: "foo">, #<Tag id: 2, name: "bar">] testing the user class User < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_tagger has_many :posts end >> u = User.first => #<User id: 1, ...> >> u.is_tagger? => true >> u.tag(p, :with => "hello, world", :on => :tags) => true >> u.owned_tags => [#<Tag id: 3, name: "hello">, #<Tag id: 4, name: "world">] refresh the post >> p = Post.first => #<Post id: 1 ...> >> p.tags => [#<Tag id: 2, name: "bar">, #<Tag id: 1, name: "foo">] Where's the hello and world tags? Miraculously, if I modify the database directly to set tagger_id and tagger_type to NULL, the two missing tags will show up. I suspect there's something wrong with my User model? What gives?

  • Button control subclass: click event does not fire when using UpdatePanel

    - by nw
    Using suggestions from this thread, I created a ModernButton control that uses the HTML button tag instead of input. This control works great except when embedded within an UpdatePanel control. In this case, it does trigger the partial postback, but its click event does not fire. The control is defined thus: [ParseChildren(false)] [PersistChildren(true)] public class ModernButton : Button { private string _iconURL = ""; protected override string TagName { get { return "button"; } } protected override HtmlTextWriterTag TagKey { get { return HtmlTextWriterTag.Button; } } public new string Text { get { return ViewState["NewText"] as string; } set { ViewState["NewText"] = HttpUtility.HtmlDecode(value); } } public string IconURL { get { return this._iconURL; } set { this._iconURL = value.Trim(); } } protected override void OnPreRender(System.EventArgs e) { base.OnPreRender(e); LiteralControl textCtrl = new LiteralControl(this.Text); if (this._iconURL != "") { LiteralControl openDiv = new LiteralControl( string.Format( "<div style=\"background-image:url({0}); background-position:left center; background-repeat:no-repeat; line-height:16px; padding:3px 0 3px 22px;\">", ResolveClientUrl(this._iconURL) ) ); LiteralControl closeDiv = new LiteralControl("</div>"); Controls.AddAt(0, openDiv); Controls.Add(textCtrl); Controls.Add(closeDiv); } else { Controls.Add(textCtrl); } base.Text = UniqueID; } protected override void RenderContents(HtmlTextWriter writer) { RenderChildren(writer); } } I use it so: <asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="uxSearchPanel" ChildrenAsTriggers="true" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="uxSearchButton" /> </Triggers> <ContentTemplate> ... <ctrl:ModernButton ID="uxSearchButton" runat="server" Text="Search" IconURL="Icons/magnifier.png" OnClick="uxSearchButton_Click"></ctrl:ModernButton> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> Which renders: <div id="uxBody_uxSearchPanel"> ... <button type="submit" name="ctl00$uxBody$uxSearchButton" value="ctl00$uxBody$uxSearchButton" id="uxBody_uxSearchButton"> <div style="background-image:url(Icons/magnifier.png); background-position:left center; background-repeat:no-repeat; line-height:16px; padding:3px 0 3px 22px;">Search</div> </button> </div> The ModernButton generates a postback in every case (whether partial or full), but the server-side click event (uxSearchButton_Click) does not fire in the partial postback scenario.

  • Any good SASS parser for PHP?

    - by Andrew Moore
    I'm currently using a modified CSS Cacheer as an alternative but its syntax is somewhat vague and adoption is, well, abysmally low... Documentation is hard to come by as well. I'm looking to switch to SASS as it has a bigger user base than CSS Cacheer and better documentation. I am aware of phpHaml but it doesn't have support for SASS yet. Any recommendation on a SASS parser for PHP? Preferably it should support SassScript.

  • Incorporate Joomla module into template?

    - by thatryan
    I built a rad slider module. Then I built a template that I am going to use as a base for more projects, and I know I will use my slider module most of the time. Is there a way, other than tearing apart the modules and re-coding it all into the template, to "package" the module with a template? Like the HTML overrides do, but adding the functionality instead of overriding existing? Does this make sense? Thanks!

  • SonarJ like tool for .NET

    - by J. Random Coder
    I'm looking for a tool like SonarJ but for .NET instead of Java. SonarJ helps you to find deviations between he architecture and the code within minutes. It can be integrated into your IDE to help you avoid the introduction of new architetural violations to your code base. You can also use it to maintain metric based software quality rules which will keep complexity under control. I googled and searched SO without satisfying results.

  • How to properly deal with KVO notifications when an managed object turns into a fault?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
    From the docs: When Core Data turns an object into a fault, key-value observing (KVO) change notifications (see Key-Value Observing Programming Guide) are sent for the object’s properties. If you are observing properties of an object that is turned into a fault and the fault is subsequently realized, you receive change notifications for properties whose values have not in fact changed. So if an object turns into a fault, Core Data does send KVO notifications for changed properties? So I must always check for isFault == NO before beeing happy about the notification?

  • Scripting Languages vs. Compiled Languages for web development

    - by Austin Hyde
    Though I come from a purely PHP background on the web development side of programming, I have also spent much time with C# and C++ on the desktop. I don't really want to spark any flame wars, but: When should you use scripting languages over compiled languages for website development? (and vice versa) Just to clarify, for the sake of this question, I define a "scripting language" to mean an interpreted language like PHP, Python, or Ruby, and a "compiled language" to mean a strongly typed, compiled language like C#, C++, Java, or VB.

  • Am I "wasting" my time learning C and other low level stuff ?

    - by Andreas Grech
    I have just recently started learning C and the reason I did that was because frankly, I consider myself to be of a "less-developer" than the people who know and work with C. Thus I planned to start learning ASM, C, C++ and bought the K&R book and started pushing myself to learn the C Programming Language and up till now I'm doing great...learning about arrays the low level way (ie the pointer + offset thing), pointers and all that and obviously asking questions on stackoverflow for guidance. My problem is that sometimes I get thinking if instead of learning this low level stuff, maybe I should maybe spend more time learning newer, more widely used technologies...basically, more web stuff. Now I am well versed with both C# and ASP.Net and currently that's what I do for a living, but still there exists Microsoft technologies that I haven't quite touched upon...such as ASP.Net MVC, The Entity Framework etc... And those are only Microsoft Technologies...obviously there are other stuff that I would like to touch upon...stuff like Ruby, which would lead me to Ruby on Rails, or Python for Django or even Java and J2EE, or maybe even PHP; ie, basically mainly Web Stuff. Mind you, I did touch upon some of the stuff I mentioned earlier on, such as PHP and Java but I am still not quite versed in them as I am in C# and ASP.Net...but still, I think that by learning other languages that are used in the web environment will broaden my horizons...both as a developer who loves learning, and also Career wise. My point is, am I really using up my time correctly by learning older, lower level stuff? Stuff that for my current line of work, will most probably never use, but still is interesting to know ? To be frankly honest, I am also learning C so that I could, maybe someday, get into Electronics and Micro-controller programming but that is a whole new world for me and, if I choose to go there, will take some time to get adjusted to. And even then, I don't know if I can get a career in working in that line of work. ...but I still wonder about this question over and over...Am I doing the right thing by learning C instead of something (Web-stuff) that will most probably be more useful for me career-wise? I'm sorry for such asking such a long and most probably a boring question, but I feel as if this is the only place where I can ask such a question and get an honest answer from experts in the field. Thank you for your time.

  • Castle Windsor XML configuration for WCF proxy using WCF Integration Facility

    - by andreyg
    Hi everybody! Currently, we use programming registration of WCF proxies in Windsor container using WCF Integration Facility. For example: container.Register( Component.For<CalculatorSoap>() .Named("calculatorSoap") .LifeStyle.Transient .ActAs(new DefaultClientModel { Endpoint = WcfEndpoint.FromConfiguration("CalculatorSoap").LogMessages() } ) ); Is there any way to do the same via Windsor XML configuration file. I can't find any sample of this on google. Thanks in advance

  • How to modularize a JSF/Facelets/Spring application with OSGi?

    - by lexicore
    I'm working with very large JSF/Facelets applications which use Spring for DI/bean management. My applications have modular structure and I'm currently looking for approaches to standardize the modularization. My goal is to compose a web application from a number of modules (possibly depending on each other). Each module may contain the following: Classes; Static resources (images, CSS, scripts); Facelet templates; Managed beans - Spring application contexts, with request, session and application-scoped beans (alternative is JSF managed beans); Servlet API stuff - servlets, filters, listeners (this is optional). What I'd like to avoid (almost at all costs) is the need to copy or extract module resources (like Facelets templates) to the WAR or to extend the web.xml for module's servlets, filters, etc. It must be enough to add the module (JAR, bundle, artifact, ...) to the web application (WEB-INF/lib, bundles, plugins, ...) to extend the web application with this module. Currently I solve this task with a custom modularization solution which is heavily based on using classpath resources: Special resources servlet serves static resources from classpath resources (JARs). Special Facelets resource resolver allows loading Facelet templates from classpath resources. Spring loads application contexts via the pattern classpath*:com/acme/foo/module/applicationContext.xml - this loads application contexts defined in module JARs. Finally, a pair of delegating servlets and filters delegate request processing to the servlets and filters configured in Spring application contexts from modules. Last days I read a lot about OSGi and I was considering, how (and if) I could use OSGi as a standardized modularization approach. I was thinking about how individual tasks could be solved with OSGi: Static resources - OSGi bundles which want to export static resources register a ResourceLoader instances with the bundle context. A central ResourceServlet uses these resource loaders to load resources from bundles. Facelet templates - similar to above, a central ResourceResolver uses services registered by bundles. Managed beans - I have no idea how to use an expression like #{myBean.property} if myBean is defined in one of the bundles. Servlet API stuff - use something like WebExtender/Pax Web to register servlets, filters and so on. My questions are: Am I inventing a bicycle here? Are there standard solutions for that? I've found a mentioning of Spring Slices but could not find much documentation about it. Do you think OSGi is the right technology for the described task? Is my sketch of OSGI application more or less correct? How should managed beans (especially request/session scope) be handled? I'd be generally graefult for your comments.
