• Use Network-Manager to Connect to a wifi Access Point on the command-line

  I'd like to connect to a wireless access point from the command-line. ideally, I'd only need the name of the AP. But the hardware-address would work as well. I know I can use nmcli to connect to a managed network connection, but in my case, the access point may not be configured for Network-Manager yet (See the difference between the output of nm-tool and nmcli con).   I have been through most of the duplicates for this question, and still can't find an answer. I may have missed one but hopefully this isn't a duplicate! Having a problem with updates. I get the "failed to download..."message followed by "Check your internet connection", which is clearing working fine as I am on it now.   Every time I download something using IE8 (running on Win 7) I get asked where to save the file, I choose my downloads folder, then the download continues and when complete I get the following message: "C:\ is not accessible. Access Denied." And I so I can't access any files I download. So why on earth would IE8 be trying to write to the root, and where can I change this? I would like to delete, edit VHD's and other files, copying them from the network, changing the names and adding to the manager)?   I know about bittorrent but have never used it since it tends to be mostly used for illegal download of movies and software. Typically whenever I see a legitimate use for it (Linux distros) there is also a regular download option so I haven't had the need for a client until today. There is a large (500Mb) file I want to download that appears to only be accessible via bit torrent. For a one time use, is there an online resource that converts the torrent to a normal http no-special-client-software download? If not, what is an easy to use and light client to install/uninstall on WinXP for a one time use?

  hello, I'm just switching my hosts and I want to move the emails from my accounts too. In order to have my current emails on the new host I want to download/export them and to import at the other host. In order to do this I use one of the webmail (squirrelmail, roundcube, horde) clients available on my current host. The problem is that except for roundcube, I don't see any download/export option available. And in roundcube I can only select one email at a time and download it as eml. My question is how do I export/download all the emails from one account and import them at the new host? I know this is possible because I remember doing this some time ago using squirrelmail, but I can't find anything related to this now. Thank you.

• File sometimes doesn't download from my website

  When I attempt to download this file, sometimes it only downloads about 700KB (the file is 40MB) then I get the message that the download is complete. If I try to download the file again, it works properly. The problem seems prevalent in IE, although I've had it happen in Chrome sometimes too. I have the following code: <input type="button" value="Agree to Terms and Download" onClick="location.href='/downloads/setup.exe';" /> If it matters, this is over a secure connection. I also tried zipping the file, and had the same issues.

Now, all of a sudden, my torrent downloads are only up to 20kbps. FlashGet still shows a reading of 70kbps, maybe even 80kbps. But, the average actual speed of download is really only 20kbps. I am using Windows 7 on my laptop and no matter where the internet is coming it's the same thing. I have no idea what could be limiting my download rates.

  Since upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 I can't connect to internet using mobile broadband modem Huawei e173. It worked earlier without problems and now it seems to be properly recognized (at least its connections appear in network manager applet), and after selecting connection manually it starts connection procedure. After about 20 seconds it returns to state disconnected.   After I installed Ubuntu 11.04/11.10 in VirtualBox in Windows 7, I cannot update any software with the error message "failed to download package files". • How can I prioritize wireless networks with network-manager

  Mostly I use my laptop in an environment where different wireless networks are available and I would like to preferably connect to one of those and only fall back to the other one if that one is not available. Is there any way of prioritizing which wireless networks network-manager preferably connects to? The only workaround I found so far was unchecking Connect Automatically in the options and re-enabling it when my preferred network is not available.

  HI i had just got my wifi to work properly in 12.04 and I got a pop up from update manager saying there was 100's of updates I needed to install so i installed them it then said I needed to reboot which I did but now my wifi isn't working I go add a new connection and I have no wifi option just Ethernet also the pci card is showing no signs of life (the green light is not light) but when i go in to terminal and type lspci it is showing my wifi card in the list whats gone wrong and how do i fix it???
